In this Tom Kirkman is single. No kids. Also Kimble and Tom are maybe just turned 40.
She couldn't help it. As she sat on her bed in the dark bedroom she couldn't help but think about the new President. She tried not too.
It's hard.
Tom Kirkman... President Tom Kirkman, is an attractive man. He was about her height, maybe a little taller. A couple of years older than her but she doesn't mind. Light brown hair, always perfect and beautiful dark chocolate brown eyes. Just an incredibly handsome man. He knows exactly how to wear a suit. Handsome. Charming. Kind.
Kindness comes from that man like the sun giving off heat. He wants the best for the country during a upsetting and terrifying time. That's the one thing they will always agree on.
The country comes first.
No relationship could ever change that and Kimble Hookstraten knows it.
Her phone sat on the bedside table charging as she thinks about Tom Kirkman. Nobody would ever want him as President but... and as the only surviving member of congress Kimble hates to admit... he was doing good. Better than anyone expected. She is impressed. She hears her phone bleep and she takes a small breath before looking at the blinding light of the screen.
Kirkman. She blinks a few times to make sure her eyes aren't playing with her and she sees that it is him. 10:45pm: Hi, I hope you are doing well. I would like to speak to you about something. It isn't a presidential matter. Tom.
He never signs a message off with Tom. Not in the last 24 messages they have sent to each other. Sometimes Kirkman or President Kirkman or nothing.
She quickly types back a message and hits send before she can wipe the blush and smile from her face as the fear creeps in. Does he know that she finds him attractive? If he does, how will he react? If he doesn't, what does he want? Could he... No he only wants what is best for the country... right? Of course he is President. 10:48pm: Hi, I am fine thank you, sir. What do you need to tell me? Kimble.
Signing off a message with Kimble doesn't feel right either. She hits send and a few minutes pass. They feel like hours. When finally her phone goes off. It's not a text this time. It's a phone call.
"Hookstraten." She says and she hears him take a deep breath. "Hello."
"Kimble... Hi." He says and she smiles. She wonders why he is callimg but she lets him finish. "How are you?"
"I'm okay... Mr President." She says, adding the last part of the sentence almost instantly.
They talk for a while and he reminds her that she can call him Tom when they are alone. "Kimble... there's something I wanted to ask you... How bad would it be for us if I took you to dinner?" Kimble Hookstraten for once in her life couldn't speak. He wants to take her to dinner. Shit... Well she wasn't expecting that one. "I mean... not as the President and the Leader of Congress... I mean... I mean as in a date." His voice is soft and quiet and she wonders what it would be like to be lay in bed with him.
"Tom..." She says. "If the press get any ideas of this..."
"I know." He says cutting her off. "I know. They will crucify us. I know..."
"I left my bag in your office." She says and Tom chuckles.
"Did you?" Tom asks and Kimble chuckles and he smiles. "Yeah you did."
"I need that bag for an early meeting. I could come and pick it up now."
"And it's late... so not many people will be around." He says almost in a whisper.
Within 10 minutes she's at the white house in the private area for the President with a drink of wine in her hand.
Kimble looks at the clock and sees it's almost 1:30am and Tom pours the 3rd glass of wine into their glasses. "It's getting really late Tom."
"I know... But this is fun."
"If anyone finds out..." Kimble begins to say but Tom takes her glass from her and places a soft kiss to her lips. "You make an excellent point."
"I can make a few more if you want me too."
"I want nothing more... Mr President." She says and kisses him. He helps her up from the and runs his hands down her back, wrapping them around his waist. "Are you sure your not drunk?"
"I'm not drunk. I want you." Tom says and that's enough confirmation she needs and she kisses him again. This time a longer more passionate kiss.
