I decided to give these next two chapters back to back, I was working on them at the same time, and I disliked that I was delayed on posting the last one. We will now see how Damas reacts to the dragons given their defense of Spargus, and learn more about Damas's past, as well as that of Spargus City itself.

To twilightnite13: Kleiver is a lot of things I agree, arrogant, greedy, condescending, and overall a jerk. But he has always shown loyalty to Spargus, particularly Damas, so I never believed him to be a traitor to his people, unlike Errol. His disruptions mainly stem from his own personal fear and bias toward aliens, especially ones he knows are stronger than him in every regard. There will always be those who disapprove of negotiating with those they consider too different, its a global concept anywhere, in any universe. So, no, Kleiver is no traitor, but he is and always will be as Cynder says, a blowhard.

Ch25: Spargus History

As the light eventually faded away, the Spargus defenders could only contemplate what it now looked like over there. However, they were brought out of it by the sight of a familiar figure in the air, Spyro approached from the sky and was emitting lightning all over his body. This was of course another after effect of the elemental fury, albeit a harmless one, unless one was foolish enough to touch him. He eventually set himself down in front of the vehicles and their passengers, and was now letting out hard breaths from all the energy he had expelled. Jak commented first on his purple friend's state.

"Heh, well certainly looks like you gave them a shock," he joked.

"Yeah, and I thought lightbulb head was the one who had volts for brains!" added Daxter. Calidan surprisingly chuckled at the jabs, where as Spyro was so exhausted he couldn't even laugh at the jokes toward him and his foster brother. Thankfully, Cynder put an end to it for Spyro's sake.

"Alright that's enough you jokers," she said to the Shark crew, "Spyro's too exhausted to make a comeback, so save it for later."

"Sure, whatever you say," said Calidan, before turning to Spyro for one last question, "so is it really over? Are they all gone?"

"From what I saw...yes," Spyro gasped, "all vehicles were disabled...though I don't know of any onboard survivors."

"I'll deal with that," Kleiver said gaining their attention. He immediately went into reverse and redirected himself toward the sandcliff. Before moving forward he said to them, "like I said earlier spoils are all mine as agreed, and that includes survivors aka prisoners. Besides you lot are better off back in Spargus, I suspect the king is going to want to talk with all of you...especially you purple bugger."

He finished that last remark with a sneer toward Spyro, and gunned it toward the sandcliff before any retort could be made toward him. They all glared at his departure, they all knew his remark was to antagonize Spyro, apparently out of fear from what he had just witnessed. Spyro was hoping and praying that same fear wouldn't envelop Damas as well, and the rest of Spargus. Noticing his discomfort, Cynder approached him in a light nuzzle.

"Don't listen to that blowhard," she told him softly, "not even his own people do because he's that big of a jerk."

"I know, but there was a grain of truth to what he said, Damas is definitely going to want an explanation," said Spyro.

"Yes, but remember you're not alone here anymore," Cynder reminded him, "you have the guardians, our allies, and you have me." Spyro could only smile lovingly at her, she truly was a voice of reason when he was lost in depression, and that door swung both ways for them.

"Really?" Calidan interrupted them, breaking their gaze to each other, "what are we, chopped liver?"

Everyone present just shook their heads as the dragoness answered, "when I said allies I meant you as well, no need to think otherwise."

"Got that right," said Jak, "come on everyone, let's head back."

"Hold on a minute," Calidan interrupted again, "can you make a drive back to my hideout real quick before you head in?"

"Again?" questioned Jak, with the dragons also giving curious looks.

"NO WAY!" yelled Daxter, and pointed at Calidan with strict enthusiasm, "I am not setting foot in that hole you call home again, especially with your ottsel craving beast lurking there!"

Calidan gave him a stinkeye toward the ottsel following his remark about Robin before continuing, "You don't have to come in with me, just drop me off and head back, I'll just need you to meet me at the Spargus gate in a few minutes, right after I pick up a few things."

The group had split in both directions following their victory in the Marauder invasion. Jak drove Calidan back toward the ruins he had directed him to earlier so he could return to his hideout. After dropping him off, he turned the Shark around to drive him and Daxter back to Spargus. Meanwhile, Spyro and Cynder flew back to the desert city the way they came, though Spyro nearly collapsed from exhaustion upon arrival. His state came as no surprise to anyone, even the Spargus natives. The unleash of energy they had just witnessed would in common sense leave anyone exhausted. Sig and Sparx eventually joined the main group while the gunners returned to their families. Damas received the preliminary from Sig and ordered a small vehicle patrol out to aid Kleiver in picking off any survivors from the battle. Damas then asked the main group, consisting of Sig, Seem and the outlanders to follow him toward the vehicle pen for a full discussion. Normally, they would do it in the palace, but Terrador's size restricted his access to it, so out of respect for being the host, Damas chose a more comfortable setting for everyone. Jak had arrived in the vehicle pen soon after that and told them Calidan would be along shortly.

"Did the newcomer say what he was bringing?" Damas asked.

"No, from what I've seen, he's never been one to openly share," answered Jak, "but he usually unveils everything in time."

"A common trait among the youth apparently," said Terrador, giving notice to all the present young ones, humans and dragons. Jak and his friends could only shrug, while the adults chuckled at their expense. Getting serious again, Terrador decided to tell the king his point of view.

"This attack at the time of our presence here is no coincidence Lord Damas, one of them surely spotted us on our approach here."

"Indeed, marauders are notorious for pillaging anything that comes across them, and eliminating anything they perceive as a threat. If there was any doubt in them about you dragons being a threat to them beforehand, it has vanished now," answered Damas, with Seem by his side nodding in agreement.

"So your saying I've now kicked the hornets nest?" Spyro asked dismally, "I've made them aware of how powerful we are, and made your city a prime target for them."

"Do not be despaired young dragon," Damas told Spyro, "we were a target for them long before you ever came along. Their ilk have littered this desert longer than I've been king. Even so, in all these years, I doubt they have ever had such a devastating blow handed to them. Barbarians they are, but they will not be so foolish to lead another assault so soon with what they have left."

Jak, Daxter, Spyro, Cynder, and Sparx listened to the kings words as he spoke in front of him in the middle of the pen, with Seem, Sig and Terrador standing beside him. The group of youths believed the king made valid points, even though the dragons had now officially become enemies of the marauders, it had been made clear the latter was outmatched despite the numbers. Jak himself knew that the same intimidation would be needed should any metalheads resurface from the desert to attack Spargus, and seeing how those monsters were already an ancient enemy of the dragons, dealing with them would be a pleasure more than a privilege. With that all said, Cynder now had something to ask.

"Lord Damas," she began getting their attention, "you said these marauders have been around longer than you've been king, and I heard from Seem you've been king of Spargus for only 6 years, have they really been around that long or even longer?"

Her question shocked Jak and Daxter the most, they never once asked Damas if he had been the only king of Spargus, in fact it had never come to mind until now! Spyro, Sparx and Terrador only looked at Cynder in curiosity, wondering why they had not heard about this yet, before turning their gaze to Damas. Damas on the other hand gave her a warm grin for she asked an insightful yet good question.

"Interesting you should ask Lady Cynder," he began, making Cynder blush lightly from inadvertently being called a lady.

"I have indeed ruled Spargus for the past six years, but the marauders, as well as this very city are much older then that," he explained. The kings statement astonished them, more so Jak and Daxter who had apparently not learned as much about their new home as they should have.

"Exactly how old are we talking?" Jak asked Damas.

"Almost as old as Haven as I have learned, for even before the war with the metalheads, there were always those opposed to Haven rule, malignant, or benevolent," Damas answered.

"Are we talking about differences between two sister cities?" asked Terrador curiously, "there have been histories of that in the Dragon Realms too, and there were times they were resolved."

"Yeah well big green," Daxter cut in, to everyone's annoyance, "this ain't your realms, and out here it's, and I quote our dear beloved king, 'your either useful or dead weight!' " Needless to say, the king angrily glared at the loudmouthed ottsel, with Seem and Sig matching it, although Daxter didn't even notice as he continued.

"Personally coming from my experience with Haven, they are poor judges to consider who or what is dead weight, I mean come on! They dumped Jak out here, and he's the best this planets' got!"

The irritation from his complaint was apparent as well as comedic to Jak and the dragons, until a certain dragonfly jumped in to further the annoyance, "Yeah! Well no one is dumping Spyro! I mean if he were in Jak's place, he would light a fire under their butts before they could even slap the cuffs on him!"

Spyro and Cynder could only shake their heads at Sparx's comment, before Daxter retorted, "Really? If memory serves me, you were all the ones captured before and we had to bust you out! Remember that?!"

"Beginner's luck for them! Unlike you fuzzbutt I learn from my mistakes, no ones caging me in a lantern again!"

"Yeah bug boy?! How about…"

"HOW ABOUT A BAG?!" yelled Jak silencing the bickering sidekicks, and stunning everyone else. In his hand he held his sidebag he secretly unclipped and was holding in front of Daxter's wide-eyed face. "REMEMBER THAT?!"

The sidekicks were frozen with horror, they remembered all too well how their constant bickering had them punished before. Personal vendettas and distaste aside, they both had to admit, nothing was worth going through that again. They cleared their throats and said the same thing with somewhat straight faces, "I have nothing more to say."

Jak slowly lowered his sidebag while maintaining a look of irritation. Spyro and Cynder were lightly chuckling at how Jak managed to deflate a common situation with them. Damas on the other hand was confused, and turned to a just as confused Terrador.

"What's with the bag?" asked the king.

"I honestly have no idea," answered the guardian, "but it quelled them didn't it?"

The king and the monk pondered for a moment, before giving a light nod. For all of them, they were glad the small loudmouths of the group were kept silent during introduction, or the situation would have been worse than the situation started by Kleiver. Fortunately like the droopy moustached wastelander, none of them were taking seriously, which was all for the better. Just then, a sudden noise caught their attention.

VRRROOOMMM VRRROOOMMM VRRROOOMMM

The sound of a revving engine came from the other side of the wasteland gatelock, Damas had to ask, "is that my guards? I just sent them out, and why wouldn't the gatelock open for them?"

"Actually, I don't think that's your guards," Jak said with a grin, as he started walking to the gate. They watched as he approached, and the gate opened upon his proximity. On the other side, they noticed it wasn't a Spargus vehicle, though it bore a great resemblance to one. Jak stepped aside smirking along with Daxter as the vehicle slowly idled in, it was built similarly to the Shark, but with slightly larger tires, and a different paint job. Blue and silver contrast in difference to the Sand Shark yellow and black. However, it was the driver who caused them all to smile and grin. Calidan could only smirk back as he idled his Dune Striker into the middle of the Spargus vehicle pen.

"Hope you all don't mind if I park here?" he asked as he shut off the engine, "it is a vehicle pen after all."

"Don't look at us dirt boy," Cynder replied, motioning to Damas, "it's his property not ours."

Calidan then turned to Damas, asking in his most respectable manner, "well your highness, seeing how I've helped in defending your city in destroying the catapults with your guests who are my friends, could you be willing to extend this small courtesy?"

Damas walked up to the Striker to look the rogue wastelander in the eye. The suspense seemed to last forever even though it was just a few seconds, "I suppose I can allow it, for now."

The wastelander gave a grateful nod, until he jolted up from hearing the king speak again, "but don't let my brief kindness get to your head boy, I do have my limits, especially when it comes to newcomers who have yet to prove their worth."

"Prove my worth?" Calidan was confused, "Haven't I already proven…"

Damas interrupted, "You've proven yourself on your terms not mine, there is a difference. That is something Jak and Spyro together have already done, you haven't, remember that."

Normally, Calidan would be quick to argue back, giving how dejected and angry he was feeling right now. It was like all previous assumptions he had about the Spargus king were resurfacing. However, his rational mind knew going back to that manner of thinking wasn't an option, so he once again swallowed his pride and only said, "yes sir."

Everyone present felt a sense of relief and pity for Calidan, they all knew the Spargus king was as tough as he was fair. Damas then relaxed his face believing he had made his point, and turned his attention toward Calidan's vehicle, "I must say though, you have further surprised me young one, I did not know you had vehicle skills as well as weapon skills."

"Yeah well living by yourself for 12 years can give you time to build and improve on some really neat stuff," Cal said patting his vehicle bar.

Damas went wide-eyed for a moment, there was a mechanic living in the wasteland he didn't know about? Out here, people like that were hard to come by, "You've built this vehicle yourself?"

"Yes sir, every bit," he answered.

"Whatever you didn't pillage from the marauders right?" asked Cynder.

"Yup," he answered, "and it was always a good time, ain't that right Rob?"

"Mrowr" Robin's head popped up from behind Calidan's seat. His appearance startled them, they were not expecting Cal's pet wildcat along for the ride. Needless to say, Daxter and Sparx panicked and hit behind their respective partners.

"He seriously had to bring the freaky mangy deathcat?" the ottsel whispered to Jak.

"Is that a wasteland wildcat?" questioned Seem, "I thought they were extinct now!"

"All but one," Calidan said rubbing Rob's head, "this guy's too tenacious to let anyone or anything get the better of him."

"Are you saying this wildcat is your pet?" asked Damas.

"Pet, friend, confidant, all of the above," answered Calidan, "surely you don't have a no pet policy, you have leaper lizards running around here after all."

"We have tamed the leapers as a mutual benefit," explained Damas, "but as their name says, the wildcats were known for being wild beyond the point of being tamed, no wastelander ever succeeded."

"First time for everything," said Calidan, "and yes, Robin is technically still a wild animal, but he's tame enough to behave himself, at least around people who behave around him. I mean come on, anyone stupid enough to antagonize a wildcat is asking to be bitten."

The youths chuckled at the banter going back and forth. However the Spargus king was still somewhat shocked, it was almost like finding Jak in the wasteland again. Only this youth nomad had apparently survived and lived in the wasteland most of his life by himself. He had also succeeded in taming an animal that has never been tamed, he knew he had to find out more.

"Tell me boy, what is your name?"

"Calidan your highness," Calidan quickly answered, "but I like Cal for short. As mentioned before this is Robin, but he prefers Rob."

"Calidan, well then, I expect a full introduction later, as well as an explanation of how you've lived in my desert without me knowing."

"Figured you would, though I expected I would…"

Before he could continue, the gate opened again. They all turned to see another Spargus vehicle, the Heat Seeker, and one of the Spargus guards Damas had sent out. He pulled up alongside the Dune Striker and shut off the engine.

"My lord," the guard had said upon exiting the vehicle, "we have surveyed the entire battlefield, a few survivors were discovered and are being escorted via our prison shuttle."

"Any escapees?" asked Damas.

"We sent out a small garrison to backtrack the marauder movements from their stronghold, we should know within the hour."

"Retaliation maybe further down the road your highness," said Terrador, "but it is inevitable, nonetheless."

"Indeed it is," Damas agreed with the dragon, "even though we have now lost the element of surprise, we are more than able to prepare ourselves, if not for marauders, then the true upcoming threat. First, we must know everything we currently have to use before making final plans. Is there anything you and your people brought along during your journey we should know about Guardian Terrador?"

"Other than the records Seem now has, nothing else," said Terrador, "however, my fellow guardians did bring 3 pupils of ours for additional assistance, and training for them."

"Are you pupils able to provide assistance like your two young ones here?" Damas asked.

"Able and willing, if we have earned your full trust Lord Damas, I can go and bring some additional warriors, courtesy of my realms," Terrador recommended.

"From this point on, any further assistance from you and your kind is most welcome," answered Damas grinning, "how many can you spare?"

"My party not including Spyro and Cynder totaled six, so we can evenly split three between guarding the temple and defending the city," the guardian leader replied.

"Then let's make it so," Damas agreed before turning to Seem, "I trust you can escort him back?"

"Naturally," Seem answered, "though I will confess my leaper mount will have a hard time keeping pace with a dragon, it will take some time."

"Normally," Terrador interrupted them, preparing to propose an idea Jak was familiar with, "we dragons do not offer what I am about to suggest, but given the circumstances Seem, how would you like to return to the temple in record time another way?"

Seem, Sig, and Damas were stumped by what he was suggesting, as was Calidan who observed. Jak's party on the other hand could only smirk, knowing Seem was about to be given an opportunity to take the ride of her life.

Back in Spargus city, the inhabitants were resuming a somewhat normal routine, as normal as one could even call the day. From meeting a group of alien outlanders to establish diplomatic relations and fending off an invasion of brutish marauders, the day had been anything but ordinary. Kleiver and the wasteland party had yet to return from scouting the invasion remnants, while Sig was working with the gunners in the city on preparing for any future attacks, which were assured to come. Terrador and Seem departed back for the Monk Temple, with the guardian offering her the chance to ride on dragonback. The monk showed a momentary glimpse of thrill as the pair took off. As they left, Damas escorted the rest of them to his palace, where another discussion would begin. Much to Calidan's relief, Damas allowed passage for Robin, but only under the condition he remain with him at all times. After the elevator ride up, the palace newcomers observed the incredible surroundings of the structure for a moment before all taking a place along the walkway.

"In all my years, even before the wasteland, I never believed I would be part of a moment in history like this," Damas said, standing by his throne while looking out the window.

"Well your highness," Spyro began, "I never believed I was a dragon destined to wield all four elements and mark a new age on my world. But if I've learned one thing after all this time, it's that surprises are everywhere and unsuspecting."

Damas smirked at the young purple dragon's bit of wisdom, "You truly have been through much Spyro, more than one could expect from one your age, no matter the race."

"Well being a purple dragon tends to make one grow up a lot faster than the rest," Spyro explained.

"Yeah, though it's not always a bad thing purple boy," Cynder added in, before making a jab, "could have been worse, you could be acting like Sparx."

"Watch it doomgirl!" yelled the dragonfly.

Daxter barely held in his laughter, and ribbed Jak who shared his joy in the joke. Calidan kept his hand on Robin's head as he shook his own head, watching the harmless animosity he knew was apparent between Spyro's brother and girlfriend unfold. Damas just remained stoic seeing the young ones banter, it somewhat reminded him of a more carefree time in his life, one he knew he couldn't get back. Turning his thoughts away from nostalgia, he walked closer to the window he had been facing. His movement caught all their attention and silenced them. The king set down his gunstaff and then sat himself down on the steps aligning his throne.

"Keeping people alive out here, keeping them full of hope, it can be daunting," Damas said aloud. Jak walked up to him to sit down beside him.

"I'd say you have made a good life here."

"You too must make a life, Jak, take your destiny into your own hands." He picked up a handful of sand to let it fall into the pool in front of him. "Sand can't keep a shape by itself, but add water, and it becomes malleable. Fate can be such, if you add the right element."

"Eco!" said Jak.

"Hehe, our minds think alike," Damas agreed

The dragons silently agreed as well, it's no wonder Jak stood up for Damas at Calidan's earlier insult. Not only was he the respectful ruler that everyone said, but he and Jak were much alike, in more ways than one. Damas then stood up to speak to all of them.

"The lead dragon guardian and my monks all say our world is in danger of coming to an end, but I am a survivor, I say we live long after this world dies!" the king declared enthusiastically. His enthusiasm rubbed off, causing everyone, Jak, Spyro, Cynder, Daxter, Sparx, even Calidan to give him warmhearted looks.

"Be ready all of you, you have proven to be some of the finest warriors I have ever met. Jak, as an honorary Spargus citizen, I will specifically need you for the trials ahead," Damas said to him directly, causing the hero to give a slight bow. Damas's tone then turned from inspiring to dismal as he said something which shocked them all.

"Also, I mustn't lose you...like I lost my son."

"SON?!" the dragons gasped, Calidan and the sidekicks went wide-eyed. Damas was truly full of surprises, he was an exile, a warrior, a king, and even a father?!

"You had a child?" Jak questioned with surprise, Daxter on his shoulder mirroring it. Damas turned to his throne with his head low.

"Long ago," Damas said dismally before walking up to sit on his throne. His tone came as no surprise to any of them, as their shock immediately turned to sadness for the father who had lost his son. "But much has been sacrificed in this war so others could live, anyway, it matters not."

"Your highness, I am so sorry," Cynder said, tearing up and closing her eyes to avoid letting them out.

Spyro put a wing over her before offering his own condolences, "we all are Lord Damas, we know the pain of losing family ourselves. Truth be told, none of us in our group have ever known our parents, save for my brother. They are the only family I have ever known, and I wouldn't trade them for the world."

Sparx flew next to him and gave his head a pat, and the two brothers gave each other a warmhearted grin for a change.

"I appreciate your condolences, even though they won't bring my boy back, they are accepted," Damas said, "but my people are the ones that need me right now, and I will need every able body ally we can muster. Which brings me to the final current issue to address...you." Everyone turned to see him staring directly at Calidan.

"Me?" Calidan said pointing to himself.

"I said earlier a full explanation would be needed, am I right? Well then tell me young Calidan, who are you?"

All eyes were on him, as Calidan took a breath to give his life story once again, "Full truth, I'm an 18 year old orphaned wastelander who was born and raised in this sandpit. I never knew my parents because they died the day I was born out here, after their exile. I only know all of that from my grandfather, the only family I ever really knew, and he raised me for my first six years, but then he passed on himself after that. So for 12 years I've lived alone in the wasteland by myself, with nothing but my wits and will to survive. Then the day came when the temple lit up the sky, and I met these guys, and I'm sure you know the rest."

"If you truly have lived in the wasteland all this time, why did you never come to our gate to seek sanctuary?" asked Damas.

"Because my grandfather already tried when I was a baby, and he was thrown back out without being given a chance. As a result, I grew up believing Spargus was nothing but a city full of brainless merciless tyrants, so to me, you were all no different than the marauders. However, it was revealed to me not that long ago how wrong that belief was, and even though I never met you before now, I apologize for the lie I let myself believe."

Jak and the dragons together watched him in silence, before turning to Damas taking his words in, "You said your grandfather tried to enter Spargus when you were only an infant? And that was 18 years ago?"

"Yes sir."

"Then it's no wonder he was cast away without a second thought," Damas said rising from his throne and moving to look out the window behind him.

"Damas, what do you mean?" asked Jak as the king walked.

"Spargus was not always in the tranquil peaceful state you know Jak," said Damas, "as you know I am not its original ruler, but I am the one who has brought it up to the state it's currently in. Before that, it was a brooding ground of wickedness, ruled by a vile tyrant whose hunger and lust for power was his only goal."

Jak, Daxter and the others were horrified, they never realized this desert jewel had such a dark history. Jak had to ask, "so this place was once like Haven?"

Damas kept his gaze toward the window while answering, "Worse, and its ruler made even Baron Praxis look like nothing other than a spoiled child. Praxis at least had laws, even if they only did serve him. But the monster I speak of had no law, anarchy was everywhere under his leadership, and hoarding, pillaging, even murder was considered common among his subjects."

"How could such vile acts even be allowed?" shouted Cynder in horror, "Did this monster king have no conscience?"

"None Lady Cynder," answered Damas, before turning to face them, "as I said power was his only ambition, if you had to compare him to anyone, I would look no further than your own world's traitor, Malefor."

They all gasped again, Spargus was once ruled by its own Malefor? That statement alone terrified the dragons more than the rest, though the terror was also matched by anger. Calidan's own anger toward his grandfather's mistreatment resurfaced again, and this time it was directed to the right person, but he needed one more thing.

"Did this monster have a name?"

"Yes…and it's a name I'd rather forget...Detos," Damas looked at him directly. All of wore scowling looks, as if the name itself carried something that deserved to be hated.

"Where is he? Where can he be found?!" Calidan asked angrily, Robin hissing beside him.

"Easy Cal," consoled Spyro.

Damas took a breath, knowing he would be disappointed, "try the bottom of the ocean, during the battle I led to overthrow him, he fell into its ruthless waters, and was never seen again."

Calidan's expression immediately went blank, realizing his grandfather had been avenged, just not by his own hands. All the others could only turn to him in support. They knew the wastelander would have preferred to avenge his grandfather, but hopefully could make peace knowing that the one responsible for his injustice received his comeuppance. Suddenly, a beep was heard from Jak's sidebag, and to their surprise, the communicator popped out.

"Jak come in! This is Torn, are you there?"

"Yeah I hear you," said Jak.

"Listen, remember that plan to break through the blockade we talked about? Well we have one, but we need you back here to help make it happen, I hope your free right now?"

"Umm...yes, I am," he stammered turning toward a glaring Damas, "but how are you going to…?"

"Bring you back? The same way we sent you back, I'll send a word to the transport to head directly to the same coordinates you and your friends were last dropped off at, they should be there within the hour, work for you?"

"We'll be there," Jak declared.

"See you soon" With Torn's statement finished, the communicator shut off. That left everyone to deal with what they knew was their next move.

"Let me get this straight, we started off going to Haven, only to come back here from Haven, then to our world and back here again, only to go back to Haven?!" yelled Sparx, "Man! We are traveling all over the place for this adventure!"

"I know, exhausting isn't it?" commented Daxter.

Damas ignored their protesting and said to Jak, "So you have been called back to Haven again."

Jak replied calmly hearing the clear distaste in the king's voice, "Yes Lord Damas, and believe me, I no longer hold any love for it after what happened. However this isn't about Haven anymore, it's about saving the world, as well as that of our allies."

"Returning to Haven right now is the best course to save it?" questioned Damas.

"Yes, the entrance to the catacombs is our only chance, its right in the middle of Haven, and we have to fight our way to it," Jak explained.

"He's right your majesty," Spyro confirmed.

Damas hesitated for a moment, but knowing they spoke the truth because he had also heard the same from the monks, he replied, "Very well, but never forget your obligation towards us as well."

"Thought never crossed my mind your highness," Jak answered with a grin turning toward the rest of his friends, "well guys, let's head out."

"Back to Haven? Oh joy," droned Calidan, before catching the dragon's disapproving gaze, as well Jak's. "uh I mean, right behind you."

To avoid any further objection he changed the subject to another matter, "Um, your highness, can I leave Robin and my Striker here for now? I give my word I will come back for them."

"Your vehicle will remain safe in our pen until your return," he answered, "but your pet will stay with you as we agreed, no exceptions."

"Mrowr" They all turned to the wildcat, realizing that he was stuck with them now, they all turned to Calidan with a stinkeye knowing he was fully responsible for the situation.

"A desert wildcat in a war torn city metropolis," Calidan said dryly, "what could go wrong?"

What could go wrong indeed? Haha. I kept the discussion between Damas and Jak as close as I could to the original, but I wanted to make sure the dragons were included in it as much as possible. More insight has also been given into both Calidan and Damas's past regarding the history of Spargus. Not much is known about it according to the Wiki, including if it was ever founded by Damas or not, which leaves room for creativity in that subject. What you've read prior to Damas's rule is my own spin on its history, in order to keep in line with Cal's own background. That said and done, come next time, its back to Haven City!
