Here is the next to last chapter, even though it shows my version of the final scene from the original adventure. I've also thrown in something extra that I believed should have been included the first time, read on to find out what.

Ch44: Alliance of Worlds

The next day, literally everyone was gathered in the Spargus arena. Above on the arena throne sat Sig, while surrounded by Onin and Packer to his right, and Samos and Keira to his left. Down below on the platforms, friends new and old were mixed together.

Ashelin, Torn, and Seem stood on the elevator adjacent to the east exit. Behind the elevator sitting on the platform were the dragon acolytes, Chloro, Saphira, and Zaxto left to right. On the adjacent platform near the west exit, all three guardians sat atop it, Volteer, Cyril, and Terrador, right to left. Kleiver stood silently in front of them on the west exit elevator along with a certain former human Count turned ottsel.

On the main platform stood Jak and Spyro at the head, with Cynder, Sparx, Daxter, Tess, Calidan and Robin right behind them. Though the diverse crowd was something new to see, the real extraordinary visitors had just exited out of their ship that had just parked in front of the main platform where Jak and Spyro stood. The precursor ottsels greeted the whole crowd with the ottsel leader giving his thanks.

"Thank you brave people and allies of this planet. Onin, Samos, Terrador and all. Your strength and wisdom in these dark times give us reason to fight on."

Samos was less than enthused at the revelation of his lifelong mystery, "my life's work it turns out, was spent searching for a bunch of furballs."

"How truly sad," Cyril whispered to Volteer who nodded. The sound of a clearing throat and stern glare from Terrador snapped them to attention, and silence.

Packer cut in as Onin waved her hands, "Onin says, it is a great day for the universe."

"Can't argue with that," Chloro commented, receiving nods from Saphira and Zaxto.

The ottsel leader addressed the two main heroes, "Jak, Spyro, both of you are among the greatest of heroes, you have turned the tide against the Dark Makers, and together we will win this war."

The ottsel surfer cut in, "but dudes, there are way more challenges in the future."

"Ah ha! Umm, or was it the past?" the ottsel dummy asked.

"Yes, yes, I was getting to that," the ottsel leader continued.

"More adventures? Where have I heard that before?" Jak asked with a smirk.

"Ditto," Spyro added with the same expression.

"We need heroes like you boys, to help us protect the universe. So, care to broaden your horizons?" the ottsel leader requested. Everyone watched apprehensively awaiting their decision. Fortunately for all of them, their answer was a no brainer.

"Sounds amazing your excellence," Spyro said respectfully, "but all I've ever wanted is right here." He turned toward Cynder and Sparx, his brother giving a nod and Cynder giving him a loving smile.

Jak soon replied, "I'm gonna pass too, though I can't speak for everyone, what about you Dax?"

"Ah, I got all I need right here baby," he said turning toward a grinning Tess sitting on the bench next to him. "But if you need me, and I know you will, you know where to find me."

"Ohh Daxter, my little hero!" Tess cooed as Daxter rested his head in her lap while she rubbed his belly.

"Ok, seriously when is this girl gonna get a clue?" Sparx whispered to Cynder, "she does know she's a human and he's a rat right?" The dragoness just closed her eyes with a shake of the head.

The ottsel leader although couldn't deny the role Daxter had played in saving the world, "we owe you much Daxter, for all you've done. For your bravery in the face of incredible danger we shall grant you your deepest desire."

Daxter thought for a moment before saying, "you know I could really use a snazzy pair of pants, like yours."

With a zap from the ottsel leader's staff, Daxter received his very own pair of denim pants.

"Wow! Those are sharp, I wish I had a pair just like that," Tess wished.

"Be careful what you wish for," the ottsel leader warned before zapping her as well. In a flash, everyone was shocked at what had become of Tess, she too was now turned into an ottsel, just like Daxter!

"You were saying?" Cynder asked, smirking at Sparx who was wide eyed and speechless.

Daxter wolf whistled at his girl's new form before helping her up, "don't worry honey you get used to it, oh, and you may want to shave some parts, trust me on that."

As they leaned in to kiss, Jak interrupted, "Hey! Save it for your private time lovebirds." Everyone present laughed, saved for a stunned dragonfly, at the new ottsel couple who merely shrugged it off.

Meanwhile, on the opposite elevator stood Veger, now trapped in his ottsel form. Realizing he had nothing left to lose here, he decided to follow through with his original idea of following the precursors wherever they went. He scowled to himself before saying, "Ugh, this is going to be a looong trip."

His trip was cut short however as Kleiver stepped on his tail from behind stopping him, "where do you think you're going little bugger? I've decided I want me own sidekick and you've been nominated."

Against his will, Veger now stood perched on Kleiver's left shoulder who declared, "we're gonna be a great team, just don't make me angry!" His glare made the former human cringe in fear, now helpless to his fate.

Spyro then stepped up to address the ottsel leader, "still, you shouldn't go with us leaving you empty handed." He gestured to Cynder for her to come over, who raised an eye but obliged willingly. Once she was close, Spyro whispered into her ear. What she did next stunned the audience, she reached down and unzipped her body bag, pulling out the mystic gem, before giving it to Spyro. He turned back to the precursors with the gem in his paw.

"You once trusted our ancestors with your precious treasures, now it's our turn to trust you with one of our own," Spyro said handing the gem out to the leader who could only gape at it, along with his colleagues, "its energy is low right now, but given time it will come back, that way, you'll always have a link back to our world."

After a brief moment, the ottsel leader took the gem, and turned up with a look of highest gratitude, "much obliged young Spyro, your true predecessor would be proud of you." All of Spyro's kin behind him smiled at the young purple dragon with pride, making history with the precursors just as the Dragon Father did so long ago.

Meanwhile the ottsel leader addressed the other little sidekick who aided in saving Elorin, "Young Sparx, your bravery in this endeavor has not gone unnoticed either. So we will grant you the same offer, care to share your deepest desire?"

"Uh, well ummm…" his hesitation stunned all of the hero party, for once Sparx didn't know what to say! From his point of view, the dragonfly had never really given it any thought to his greatest desire, and decided to say instead, "tell you what, can we take a raincheck? I'll get back to you on it," Sparx offered knowing that with the gem they could contact him at any time.

"Deal," the leader said as the precursors then took their leave as they turned around to enter their ship.

"Hey!" Calidan called out getting everyone's attention, "If I'm permitted to ask, where are you guys gonna go now?"

His friends turned their gaze from him to the precursors. The ottsel leader merely smiled in response and answered, "who knows young Calidan? the skys the limit, or in our case, the universe!" With that, the ship's door closed up and the precursor vessel ascended into the sky above, heading for the stars. All of them, citizens of both Haven and Spargus, in addition to their dragon guests watched the ship disappear from sight. With that now settled, Jak now had something to say…

"Well I guess we won't be filing for retirement yet, especially with all of our adventures yet to be still ahead of us."

"From what we've seen, I'm sure you've got plenty left to offer, right Mar?" Cynder cheekily asked using Jak's real name.

"Heeyy, just cause you learned my birth name doesn't change what I prefer to be called," Jak replied pointing at her.

"Well, at least one of you boys appreciates my nicknames, unlike others," she finished looking at Calidan who scoffed.

Ashelin however was stunned, and asked Seem next to her, "Wait, Jak is Mar? The Mar?!"

"His last descendant really," Seem corrected, "no need to be irrational, governor." Torn chuckled slightly before being silenced by a glare from Ashelin. Meanwhile the rest of the hero party were addressing another matter with their latest addition.

"So Cal, still feel like going back to live in solitude? Or would you rather stay here with us, on ground level?" Cynder asked him.

Calidan momentarily considered before turning to his best friend beside him, "Ah why not? What do you say Rob, you in too? I'm sure Onin would appreciate some more company other than Packer."

"Mrowr"

"Hehe, I guess we're both in, if you can make room," said Calidan.

"Sure, besides the league could use more hands with tech expertise, right?" Jak asked Ashelin and Torn.

The two league commanders turned from being surprised at Jak to addressing the wasteland survivalist. They had to admit, despite his social mishaps, the lone wastelander played a vital role in saving the planet. He was definitely more worthy as an asset than a liability.

"Alright, but only if he passes our exams," Torn said, putting aside the majority of his disagreement with Calidan.

"As well as undergoing a screening," Ashelin added.

"Sheesh, strict much?" Calidan asked exhaustively.

"Welcome to civilization," Cynder jabbed. Everyone laughed, even Calidan in good humor.

Packer flew down from the balcony above to land on the bench, "Ah, what a team we all are! Eh?!"

"Beaky, for once I concur," Sparx agreed, hovering on his left side.

"Yeah, well the next adventure, I call the shots! Put em there partners," Daxter said, extending his hands to the two little characters, only to quickly pull them back! "HA! Psych!"

"Hahaha, your exaggerated mannerisms never cease to amuse little furry one, and annoy," Cyril cut in. His remark made everyone laugh, excluding Daxter. They now realized there was one matter left to attend to.

"Well master," Saphira began asking, "now that we've helped save the world of our new friends, where do we go from here?"

Terrador answered for them, "If I recall, I believe there was an act of mutual relations to set up, right Seem?"

The precursor monk warmly replied, "Indeed, though most traces of the original pact are lost, this whole ordeal has given us the chance to start fresh. With your aid, we can now work to forge a new treaty of alliance between our races, and worlds."

"Wow, sounds sort of like a...Union Alliance?" Calidan suggested. His remark made everybody turn toward him with stunned looks and wide eyes.

"Where did you come up with that?" Cynder asked.

"Well think about it, a union of different races, an alliance between worlds, it just came to me," Calidan clarified. Their looks of shock were slowly turning into looks of approval and consideration.

"Hehe, young Cal may be onto something," said Volteer, before asking Seem, "though if we are to forge this treaty, how will we go about interpreting it in a way that can be understood by both parties?"

Seem smiled warmly before saying, "That Guardian Volteer, will fall to your pupil. I think you will find young Zaxto a most efficient translator now." Zaxto merely gave his usual cheeky grin, which Volteer returned with a proud smile. As the first dragon Elorian translator, Zaxto's ego would be difficult to deal with now, it was like dealing with the next version of Cyril, mixed with Volteer, oy vey. The other dragons knew now that Pulster certainly had his work cut out for him once he heard about this.

"Well, while this treaty is being formed, I hope you'll choose to stay around for a while, since most of us haven't gotten the chance to know any of you!" Samos said to the dragon guardians, knowing he was referring to the Haven citizens.

"Hehe, I assure you wise sage, we don't plan on heading back anytime soon, so count on it," Terrador replied.

"Provided Vacu or Jace haven't messed things up as acting guardians while we've been out here," Saphira dryly said. The humans were confused about her statement, save for those of the hero party who were familiar with the acolytes who stayed behind.

"What about Pulster?" Zaxto asked.

"Please, besides myself, he's the only one of us that can hold things together," Saphira clarified, "between Vacu's impatience, Jace's upstart persistence, your babbling mouth, and Chloro's thickheadedness, it's no wonder he's acting leader on our behalf."

Zaxto shot her a dirty look, in her statement she indirectly revealed her own fault, her vanity. Rather than retort back for her insult, Chloro saw a chance to tease her instead, "well well, didn't know you thought so highly of old Pulse, don't tell us you 'like' him?"

Saphira immediately felt flushed with embarrassment and a racing heart, and immediately responded with Chloro and Zaxto grinning at her on both sides, "Of course not! I only respect him the most! Unlike the rest of you, he hasn't given me a reason to be annoyed."

"Sounds like denial to me, right Zax?" Chloro commented.

"Yup," the electric acolyte responded, enjoying the female acolyte's predicament.

"Like you know anything about denial, being a so-called elemental prodigy has given you the thickest head of all from what I've seen!" Saphira shot at Chloro.

"Hey! Don't make this about me!" Chloro snapped back.

"You started it dome skull!" she shouted.

All the witnesses to the argument watched it with mixed opinions. Jak and Spyro's group watched with either raising eyes from the humans, or shaking heads from the dragons. Torn, Ashelin and Seem were bewildered and sighed exhaustively at the acolytes arguing. Above on the balcony, Samos could only say to Onin and Sig from in between them, "huff, apparently no matter the species, young ones are young ones." Both of them nodded exhaustively.

As for the guardian mentors themselves, they were sweat-dropping with embarrassment as their respective pupils' combined argument continued, and Terrador groaned, "Ugh, I'm starting to wonder if we should have just come ourselves."

"I concur old chap," Cyril agreed, with Volteer merely nodding right behind them.

After leaving the arena, the whole group started attending to the final priorities at hand. The first on the list was in no small part, a proper burial for the fallen king of Spargus. Ashelin and Torn had immediately set out for the Haven catacombs on the transport, along with Sig and Seem to collect Damas's body. This gave the inhabitants time to prepare for the funeral as well as a period of mourning.

After about an hour, the transport returned, and the funeral occured in a manner fitting an honorable warrior, a description that fit Damas to a tee. It began with his body being escorted upon a trolley provided by the Freedom League, Seem led the six Spargus citizens acting as the pallbearers, Jak and Sig being two of them at the front, and Kleiver being one in the back. The king's body was covered with a white sheet from head to toe as he was carried down the main Spargus road, his subjects on both sides silently mourning or weeping as he passed them by.

Ashelin and Torn had stayed back in the vehicle pen as the pallbearers had taken Damas's body into the city. It was the best way to show their respect, knowing the citizens animosity toward Haven officers, so it was only proper they stay out of sight for the moment. Those that were still in the city were Samos, Keira, Onin, and Packer, who observed the escort from the arena section bridge. They kept a distance from the main Spargus citizens out of respect, yet still wanted to be present to honor Jak's late father.

Outside the wall of mourning citizens, the dragons all stood alongside the precursor temple monks as the trolley passed by the fountain area where they stood. The acolytes had their heads down as they held back tears, whereas their guardian mentors kept their heads up, but still watched with sad expressions as the pallbearers passed them by. Cyril looked to Terrador, knowing that among them he was feeling hurt the most. He was the only guardian to have met the late king and even formed a close bond with him despite the short time they collaborated together. The ice guardian offered what words of comfort he could.

"From what we've heard, he was truly a great leader, must have been refreshing to meet one such as yourself in a foreign world."

"Indeed, despite knowing him for only a short time, I can honestly say he was a good friend. I only wish all of you could have met him," Terrador said sadly, knowing the pain he was feeling was familiar while remembering another old friend, "especially Ignitus."

The remaining pair of dragons as well as the remainder of the hero party stood near the walkway that led up to the Spargus palace. Spyro and Cynder were side by side as always with Sparx sitting on his brothers horns, and Daxter and Tess sitting on Cynder's back. Calidan and Robin stood by them, the wildcat fortunately for once keeping silent as the pallbearers began their walk up toward the palace where the king would be cremated. The dragons watched with tearful faces and Sparx just watched with a sad face, for all of them knew that without the king accepting them, this alliance wouldn't exist. Daxter kept an arm around Tess as she cried on his shoulder, the two ottsels honoring their mutual friends' fallen dad. Calidan had already let go of his animosity toward Damas prior to his fall, but couldn't shake off all the guilt he was feeling that came with his death. Living a lie thinking a man was nothing but a self-centered tyrant when he was really a selfless noble ruler left a scar he doubted would ever fade. Nonetheless, as the trolley made its way up to the palace, he silently vowed to be less judgmental in the future as he began a new life living amongst his new friends to prevent any similar mistakes.

Damas's body was cremated later on in the palace, and his ashes scattered all across Spargus, as a sign that even in death part of his spirit would remain among them, as Seem expressed in his will. At the marketplace by the sea, Terrador even gave some words of comfort as best he could to the citizens. He knew how it felt to lose a great leader, and in offering some wisdom that was well known among his kind, said that Damas's spirit would always look out for them. The citizens didn't say anything in response, but the guardian could tell from their faces they accepted his statement. Jak on the other hand later on, verbally gave the guardian leader his highest thanks, knowing that Damas would be smiling at them. Terrador was initially shocked to learn the true relation between Damas and Jak, but was happy nonetheless that his fallen friend's son was alive after all. Afterward, both Spyro and Calidan walked up to give Jak their own condolences, for both of them knew the pain of losing a father figure, and knew they could help Jak deal with the loss, as true friends should.

As the funeral concluded, it was now a time for celebration, for many things in fact. First was celebrating the life of their late king, and the future exoneration of Sig as the new ruler since Jak upright rejected the idea of taking his father's place, knowing that despite his leadership qualities he belonged on the battlefield, not on a throne. Second was celebrating the newfound alliance between Spargus and the dragons, an alliance that would hopefully spread across both their worlds as the newfound treaty was created. Before writing could begin however, the Spargusians invited all their guests to their celebration party.

A party that included their own brand of music provided by their best musicians, which surprisingly included Kleiver playing a tuba! The others included a violin, a fiddle, a flute, and a set of bagpipes. Dancing occurred all around the main courtyard, including group dances between Spargus warriors and friends like Sig, Torn, Jak and even Calidan. The dragon guardians and acolytes even joined in, giving the Elorians their first display of dancing dragons. Of course it wasn't complete without dances between couples, including Jak and Keira, Torn and Ashelin, and of course Spyro and Cynder, representing their respective worlds in a most beautiful way. Daxter, Tess, Sparx, and Packer joined in as the smallest members of the group threw in their own jigs joining the celebration as the music went on. It had been a time of trial and tribulation mixed with excitement and enjoyment, but when two worlds become united, what else can you expect?

I only thought it was right to include a scene of what I believed was a fitting funeral for Damas. It was a challenge, though I listened to funeral music as inspiration for writing it, as well as adapting elements from common funerals for noble monarchs and warriors. The final chapter is next, see you in the conclusion...
