A/N: Warning, this one is looong. Like five pages long on my Google Doc so can we take a moment to clap for the people who don't start skimming and actually read. EVERY. SINGLE. WORD. *claps* Enjoy :D.

"What in the..." Serena said.

She'd been training for a few hours, preparing for the Wallace Cup that was only two days away, and she'd just seen a large herd of Rhyhorn come from the heart of Vermillion City. Absol lazily walked over to its trainer but seemed to lose his drowsiness when he saw the herd.

Serena looked at her partner who started walking, Serena followed, staying a few paces behind.

I might not be the expert that Mom is but, that's just not normal.

"C'mon Raboot, we aren't far behind the herd."

Raboot was running a few feet in front of Go and briefly turned around to give an inquisitive look at his trainer before starting to run again. They had been chasing the herd for about an hour, and Go had to take frequent breaks because he barely had the same stamina as his partner, but they were finally catching up.

They arrived in a field where the new Pokemon Gym was being built, he and Ash had watched a herd of Bulbasaur evolve into Ivysaur.

"Alright let's see where...Woah, look at the Pokemon, let's catch it."

Go grabbed a Pokeball and hurled it towards an unsuspecting Absol. Absol saw it and jumped into the air, using Psycho Cut to destroy the Pokeball.

Go smirked, "A strong Pokemon that fights back, that'll be a great addition to my Pokedex. Raboot, use Ember."

"Absol, Razor Wind," a girl who Go had yet to spot yelled.

Absol obeyed and released a sharp gust of wind which forced Raboot back to Go.

"What do you think you're doing?"

"Well, I-i-i…" Go stuttered.

He looked at the girl, she had honey-blonde hair that was tied up in a high ponytail with a blue ribbon, she was wearing a pale pink t-shirt and black shorts, she looked like your average, run-of-the-mill trainer, except for a silver bracelet on her right wrist and a silver necklace. She must be rich, Go thought.

"Is that Pokemon yours?"

The girl's hard expression softened, "Yes, Absol belongs to me, but I do want to know why you attacked without provocation."

"Oh, I'm sorry, I thought he was a wild Pokemon and I was trying to capture him to get more data for my Pokedex."
"You must be a newer trainer, how old are you?"

Go looked at the girl, she was smiling now, a big change from her original scowl, "I'm ten, Raboot here was my very first Pokemon and we're on a mission to catch every single Pokemon ever, and then catch the legendary Pokemon Mew. My name is Go, by the way."
"Nice to meet you Go, my name is Serena, and I have a feeling that you're chasing those Rhyhorn."

"Yeah, hopefully, I'll catch one but I work for Professor Cerise and we're trying to figure out where they are going, what about you?"

"I was training with my Pokemon and I saw the herd, my mom is a Rhyhorn Racer so I grew up learning about them, and I'm pretty sure that's not normal behavior," Serena said.

"Well, let's go find out."

Serena nodded and they ran off towards the Rhyhorn herd.

It'd taken them a few minutes to finally track them down, but the entire herd was in a giant cage.

"What the…"

"Prepare for trouble."

"And make it double."

Serena looked up to the people who were yelling, it was Team Rocket.

"To protect the world from devastation."

"To unite all peoples within our nation."
"To denounce the evils of truth and love."
"To extend our reach to the stars above."

"Jessie," The crimson-haired woman called out.

"James," The lavender-haired man yelled.

"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light."

"Surrender now or prepare to fight."

"Meowth, that's right."

"Wobbuffet."

"Team Rocket!" Serena and Go shouted.

"Well, well, well, if it isn't one of the..wait, what is the Kalos twerpette doing here," Jessie said, scrunching her nose.

Serena's expression and stance didn't change but Go turned to look at her in confusion. Weren't these guys only after Ash's Pikachu.

"Well, nevermind, we're ready," Jessie said with a sing-song voice.

A Peliper flew overhead and dropped a rocket that appeared to function as a gumball machine. Upon its landing, James promptly grabbed Meowth and flipped him upside down, using his charm as a coin, managed to get two Pokeballs out of the machine.

"Well, this is a surprise, the same for both of us," Jessie said, looking at a small piece of paper.

"Yes, well go, Houndoom, the Dark Pokemon," James yelled.

Flashes of light briefly blinded Serena and Go. When the light faded, two Houndooms snarled at the two trainers.

Houndooms, great. Serena thought to herself.

Absol started to prepare an attack, Serena noticed and kicked out her leg, blocking Absol's path.

"We'd like to see you counter that," Meowth yelled.

Serena started smirking and glanced at Absol, who seemed to have a similar smirk.

"Alright, Absol let's show them."

Absol lept in front of its trainer. Go started to command Raboot to battle but Serena held out a hand to stop him.

She took a deep breath and faced Team Rocket. She and Absol made eye contact.

"Let our hearts become one, Absol it's time to go beyond evolution and Mega Evolve."

Absol was surrounded by light, and when it faded, he stood proudly, his wings in full display.

Go's jaw dropped.

Right, it's more common in Kalos and Hoenn than in Kanto, Serena thought, noting the young trainer's shocked expression.

"What," Jessie said, appearing horrified.

Team Rocket being frozen gave Serena a much-needed opening, "Absol, use Future Sight," she yelled.

The Disaster Pokemon howled and seemed to send its attack into the future. Serena started lightly tapping her foot.

Jessie and James snapped out of their shock.

"Fire Fang."

"Thunder Fang."

The Houndooms obeyed and began to charge at Absol.

"Dodge it."

Absol leaped into the air moments before the Houndooms landed their attacks causing them to attack each other. Jessie's Houndoom sprang up first and charged at Absol.

"Razor Wind."

Absol's horn began to glow and sent a purple slash hurling through the air. The move collided with Houndoom and forced it back fifteen feet. When it landed its eyes were spirals and it had lost the ability to battle. Jessie grumbled and returned Houndoom to its Pokeball.

One more to go.

"Absol, force Houndoom into the air with Psycho Cut," Serena yelled, which earned her a questioning look from Go and his Raboot.

"Houndoom, use Fire Fang," James called.

Both Pokemon charged at each other. Houndoom leaped into the air while Absol stayed on the ground. Once Houndoom was over Absol, its horn began to glow and Absol jumped. The force of the attack was enough to launch Houndoom high into the air.

Serena smirked, her plan had gone perfectly. At that moment, Absol's future sight appeared and collided with the flying Houndoom. Parts of the attack landed by Team Rocket, launching them into the air.

"We're blasting off again."

After Team Rocket was out of sight, Absol began glowing and transformed back into what it looked like.

Go was shocked, "So this Mega Evolution thing, how does it work."

Serena knelt to be on Absol's level, "See this chain around Absol's neck," She paused waiting for Go to respond, he nodded.

"Well the stone on it is a Mega Stone, and that specific stone is called Absolite, together with my keystone," she gestured to her necklace, "we can use Mega Evolution, and before you start trying it recklessly, you need a really strong bond with your Pokemon."

Go nodded, "That's so cool,"

"Let's go free the herd to keep you on track."

Serena and Go walked to where Team Rocket had imprisoned the Rhyhorn. Absol and Raboot prepared to combine their moves.

"Pika pi."

"What the," Serena said, turning to face where the sound came from.

"I didn't hear anything."

"You know what, I'll go find out where it came from and if it's a Pokemon, I'll go find its trainer, I have to head back to the city anyway, I'm sure my friends are worried about me. It was nice meeting you."

Go nodded and focused on freeing the Rhyhorn.

Serena didn't have to walk far to find the Pokemon she'd heard. It was a Pikachu.

"Absol, Psycho Cut."

Absol cut the orb quickly.

Pikachu came and nuzzled Serena.

Could this be, is he really, Serena thought.

Pikachu stayed close to the girl, they'd arrived near the center of the city and were walking towards the harbor when Serena's phone rang, it was Dawn.

"Hi, Dawn."

"Oh Serena, thank Arceus you're alright, where have you been all morning?"

"I'm fine, I went to a field north of the city and trained for the Wallace Cup."

"You're training a little too much, are you sure you're okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine, and I'm not gonna be back until later, I found a Pokemon that had been separated from its trainer and I'm going to try to reunite them."
"Alright, try to be back maybe an hour after sunset."

"I'll do my best," Serena said while hanging up.

She smiled and walked around the city center for a few hours until it was close to sunset.

Walking around the city center hadn't been helpful so she had walked down to the harbor.

Serena leaned up against the railing, Absol was at her feet and Pikachu was at her side. She'd changed back to her normal clothes and was enjoying the moment with her Pokemon.

Someone walked up behind Serena, upon hearing these footsteps, Pikachu's ears perked up and he bounded over to the person.

"Serena?"

She turned around.
