A/N: I have another story that's in progress called Opposite Sides of the Bracket that I need to start uploading consistently, but if you guys want to check it out feel free. Also, sorry not sorry for that cliffhanger last week, now enjoy the chapter that you've been waiting for me to post for almost two months
"Ash," She breathed.
The two trainers looked at each other for what seemed like an eternity. They stood there like statues, both shocked to see the other and fearful that if they break eye contact the other would disappear.
Ash felt his face get hot, and he noticed a blush creeping onto Serena's face.
He took a deep breath, "Long time, no see," Why did I open with that, that was stupid.
"Yeah, it has been a while since...yeah," Why is this so hard.
The two broke eye contact and looked at the ground, both of their faces were bright red.
"Well, thank you, Serena, for helping Pikachu,"
Serena looked up, "It was no big deal, Absol got to train and show off to a trainer named Go,"
"So you've already met Go huh," Ash said. Alright, this is easier.
"I had a hunch you two knew each other, you rubbed off on him quite a bit."
"Yeah, I guess you could say that, also, since you've got Absol, would you mind showing off the rest of your team."
Serena grinned, "Only if you show me yours."
Ash smiled and threw four Pokeballs in the air, "Everyone come on out."
Once the light faded, Pikachu jumped on Ash's shoulder which allowed him to show his full team.
"I've got Dragonite, Gengar, Pikachu, little Riolu, and I think you can guess who this is," Ash said, gesturing to Noivern.
"Noivern, huh," Serena said, stroking Noivern's forehead.
Ash glanced at the ground to try to compose himself.
Serena stepped back, "Everyone come out."
She tossed four Pokeballs into the air.
"Syl," Sylveon cried when she saw Ash and Pikachu.
"Pika," the electric mouse squeaked, jumping off its trainer's shoulder.
Sylveon and Pikachu nuzzled each other as a greeting.
"Wow, Pikachu and Sylveon must've really missed each other," Ash said.
Like I missed you, Serena, he thought to himself.
"Right, and I'm sure you know Braixen evolved into Delphox, and I brought along Riolu and Fletchinder as well."
"That reminds me, Congratulations on winning the Grand Festival, Serena, you did awesomely and totally deserved it."
"R-r-really," Serena said, her face bright red.
He thinks I did well.
"Well congrats on the Alola league, you should've seen Max's face when you won."
Ash smiled, "I never would've won if I hadn't gotten experience from coming in second in Kalos, and I would've never gotten that far in Kalos if it wasn't for you-"
"Oh come, you dense idiot, you both like each other so just go kiss her," May hissed.
"May shush, we don't want them to hear us remember," Dawn whispered, yanking her friend back into their hiding place behind a building.
"-hitting me in the face with a snowball back in Snowbelle City."
Dawn and May glanced at each other and kept watching the pair.
"Oh yeah," Serena said, softly giggling at the memory, "I remember that."
"I don't think you realized how strong your throwing arm was, cause those hurt," Ash said, laughing.
"Sorry about that."
"Don't apologize, I deserved that snowball in the face for how I acted, especially towards you, you were just trying to help and I still feel like a jerk for that, and if anything, I'm sorry I made you hit me with that snowball."
Serena smiled.
"Hey, Dawn," May said, holding Beautifly's Pokeball, "I've got an idea."
Dawn grabbed Piplup's Pokeball, "Let's do this."
One of Beautifly's attacks hit Ash's back, but he managed to catch himself, and Piplup used Ice Beam which caused Serena to lose her footing and fall into Ash's arms.
"You okay?" Ash asked after he helped Serena regain her footing.
"Yeah, I'm fine, I just slipped on something," She said, not realizing she was still holding onto Ash's arms.
The trainers stared at each other, neither releasing how close they were. Beautifly attacked Serena, causing her to fall onto Ash, and their lips to brush against each other.
May and Dawn high-fived.
"Great job, Beauifly," May whispered.
"And you did great too, Piplup, thanks," Dawn whispered.
The two girls started walking away, watching what was happening from over their shoulders.
Serena straightened herself, trying to hide her blush, "I should probably get going, I've got one more day to train before the Wallace Cup so my Pokemon and I need to rest." I just kissed him, again.
"Yeah me too, if I don't get back soon, Professor Cerise will be worried," Ash said, looking down at the ground. She kissed me, again.
Ash returned his team to their Pokeballs, except Pikachu of course, and walked back towards Professor Cerise's Laboratory with a smile, I finally found her again.
Serena returned everyone but Sylveon and Absol to their Pokeballs and started walking back to the Pokemon Center until a Pokeball in her bag began to shake.
She retrieved the Pokeball from her bag and looked up at Ash, he'd just gone out of sight.
Serena smiled at the Pokeball, "Don't worry, I made a promise that I'm going to keep, you have nothing to worry about."
As if by magic, as soon as she reassured the Pokemon still inside its Pokeball, something in her bag started glowing.
It was the egg she'd been carrying around for two months, it was finally hatching. She brought it out of her bag as it started glowing brighter. She laid it on the ground, when it finally stopped glowing, it was replaced by a Froakie.
"Froa."
"A Froakie, well that's a surprise," Serena said, taking a Pokeball from her bag, "Froakie, would you like to come with us," she said, holding the Pokeball.
"Froakie."
Froakie tapped the button and allowed itself to be caught. Serena smiled and Absol and Sylveon stayed close to her.
Serena went straight to bed after she got to the Pokemon Center, and no nightmares plagued her sleep.
A/N: I wanna clarify some stuff about the nightmares cause I keep bringing it up. I think the Team Flare Crisis had little effect on the characters in the anime and in my opinion, I think it should have been more traumatizing for the younger Gym Leaders (Korrina and Clemont) and trainers like Ash, Alain, Serena, Bonnie, and Marin, because afterward, everyone was kinda like, "Understandable, Have a nice day" when it should have been a lot more damaging to the characters. And most of the Amourshipping moments will be stuff like holding hands because 1) this isn't one of those fanfics where the OTP gets back together and immediately understands their feelings and become boyfriend and girlfriend cause at the end of the day, they're still kids and I think our denser-than-a-black-hole protagonist is still trying to figure out his feelings and 2) I can't write kiss scenes so there might be one or two later on (That May and Dawn might force them into). Also, I have absolutely no idea how contests work except for one fanfic I've read a few times so bear with me. Thanks for sticking with this, y'all are making me some much more confident about my writing with your support so from the bottom of my heart, thank you, guys.
