A/N: After two months I have discovered how to work this program. Trust me, when I found out how to add the lines I got so happy. I wanna remind you guys of my other story which I update on Wednesdays called "Opposite Sides of the Bracket" it has FourthWheelShipping, AmourShipping, and some other ships. If you guys could go check it out and give it a review I'd appreciate it. I hope y'all enjoyed Ash and Serena's Reunion last week, and this chapter contains some major plot too (and some Contestshipping moments) so I hope you enjoy it.
"So what was up with the Rhyhorn?"
"Team Rocket stuck these little devices on them which caused them to herd together and walk right into their trap."
It was morning in Vermillion City, Ash had woken up on time for once in his life and he and Go were eating breakfast downstairs.
"And I caught one," Go boasted.
Ash rolled his eyes and then stared at Pikachu, who was devouring his food. He remembered he'd gotten Pikachu back, but everything after that seemed like a dream.
Go stared at Ash, He seemed fine yesterday, I've never seen him as happy as he was last night, but now he seems confused, the young trainer thought.
Ash snapped himself out of his thoughts and faced Go, "So, since Professor Cerise gave us the day off, what do you wanna do?" Ash asked, "Besides catching more Pokemon," he added, looking at the young trainer.
"Fine, fine, well, you could introduce me to those coordinator friends of yours."
Ash raised his eyebrow while Go smirked.
"Fine, besides coordinators are known to overwork themselves and their Pokemon before a big contest, and if they overwork themselves too much, even the best coordinator in the world could lose to a rookie."
"Well then, let's go."
Serena had woken up early along with her Pokemon.
"Alright everyone, I'm toning down training today," Serena said, leaving bowls of Pokemon food for her team.
Her Pokemon all seemed to smile in approval at their trainer's decision. Serena smiled.
"Froa."
Froakie was the only one who wasn't eating and seemed to flinch when Serena kneeled to be on the same level.
"Kirlia, Psybeam, Sceptile use Leaf Blade."
Froakie tilted its head at the noise while Serena's other Pokemon barely seemed to notice.
"Don't worry Froakie, that's just Max training with his Pokemon, but it's a little early for him to be up much less training."
Serena stood up and walked out to the battlefield with Froakie staying close to her.
"Max?"
The blue-haired boy flinched and turned around.
"Serena, what's up," he said in a rushed tone, his voice changing pitch so much that Serena knew he was hiding something.
She put her hands on her hips and frowned, "Are you running off again?"
Max scowled, "Yeah, I am, and I'm gonna enter the World Championship and nothing you or May say is gonna stop me."
Max returned his Pokemon to their Pokeballs, she understood how the boy felt, after all, she had a strict mother that made her put her dream on the line for a chance of fulfilling it, but she did understand May's point of view. She wouldn't want her younger sibling to go off on their own without telling her.
She rolled her eyes and realized that there was one way to stop him and she felt guilty about using that tactic.
"If you leave now you won't be able to say hi to Ash."
Max froze, "Your lying," he said with a scowl.
"No, I'm not, I talked to him last night."
The boy's attitude did a full 180 from what it was a few seconds ago. Serena was happy that Max wasn't leaving but she did feel guilty, using his admiration of Ash as a way to control him.
Maybe May could watch him from a distance, or he could always travel with someone else, like Bonnie.
Serena checked the time.
8 am, so it's about 3 pm in Kalos which is perfect.
She sat down to make a video call.
"Hello, Serena is that you?"
"Yes, it's me, Professor."
"Well, what is the news?"
"Well, the egg you sent me finally hatched," Serena gently patted her lap.
Froakie jumped into the performer's lap.
"Froakie."
"A Froakie, how fitting," Professor Sycamore said, scribbling something down on a piece of paper.
"Yeah."
A loud yawn came from behind Serena. I bet that's May, she thought.
"My friends are starting to wake up so I have to go."
Professor Sycamore nodded, "Alright then-"
Marin and Alain burst in behind the Professor.
"Good luck at the Wallace Cup!" the three said.
Serena smiled and waved as the call ended.
"Serena, who were you talking to?" May said in a groggy voice, that screamed she needed more sleep.
"Professor Sycamore, the egg finally hatched," and your brother almost left.
"Wait, the egg hatched!" Max yelled in disbelief.
A door creaked open to reveal a sleepy Dawn.
"Max, it's like eight in the morning, why are you yell-" her eyes landed on Froakie at Serena's heel.
"Since when do you have a Froakie?"
"Wait, Serena has a Froakie?" Drew said, he at least looked like he'd gotten some sleep.
Brock came out about the same time and almost asked the same question but Serena explained first.
"Yes, I have a Froakie, and I got him last night when the egg Professor Sycamore sent me hatched, and yes, the egg hatched," Serena sighed.
"Congratulations Serena, you cared for that egg better than anyone else could have and it paid off," Brock said, he'd watched the Kalosian Performer spend hours taking care of that egg, and he could tell she was ecstatic about it finally hatching
"Are you gonna use it in the Wallace Cup tomorrow?" Dawn asked.
Serena smiled, "No, I'm not, and I'm not telling you who I'm using."
Max looked around at the group, "Were Serena, Brock, and I the only ones who got enough sleep?"
Drew groaned, "May and Dawn were up all night giggling and gossiping so it was a miracle I got any sleep."
Brock looked over at the two coordinators, "What were you guys talking about anyway?"
The girls smirked at each other and looked at Serena.
She felt her face get hot, and her face turned red.
"You guys saw that," she said, horrified.
The two nodded, "How could we resist watching you two lovebirds reunite," May said.
"May," Serena grumbled, "It isn't like that."
"Really, cause that kiss made it seem like it was," Dawn said with a smirk.
"Dawn," Serena said with an exasperated tone.
The guys all looked at each other and smiled, they all knew who the girls were talking about.
Max broke the tension between the girls, "Can we get some breakfast, I woke up early to train and I'm starving."
May's stomach growled, "I can get behind that."
Drew rolled his eyes, "May, you're always hungry," he said before planting a kiss on her cheek.
Serena grabbed her phone, "It says that there's a great breakfast place down in the harbor, right on the water."
"Well then, what are we waiting for," May yelled, running out the door.
The Kanto air was crisp that morning, Serena shivered a little.
May and Dawn spent their time walking trying to get Serena to reveal the Pokemon she was using.
"So, my bet is you'll use Absol for the battle rounds," Dawn said with an air of confidence.
May looked back at her friend who shrugged, Absol raised his head, but anyone who knew his personality knew that wasn't a clue, he was only showing his pride.
Serena rolled her eyes at Absol, she wasn't using him, not after how prideful and arrogant he'd become after the Grand Festival after beating May's Blaziken.
Dawn frowned, "When are you gonna tell us?" she whined.
Serena smiled, "You'll learn when everyone else does."
This earned her a pout from Dawn, a groan from May, and an eye roll from Drew.
She's probably got an ace up her sleeve that'll blow the judges away, the green-haired coordinator thought, the question is: what is it?
They got to the restaurant and sat down. After they got their food, May and Max started shoveling food into their mouths. Some of their Pokemon were out and talking with one another, Serena's Absol and Sylveon, May's Munchlax, Brock's Sudowoodo, Dawn's Piplup, Drew's Roselia, and Max's Mightyena were all out enjoying the morning sunlight in Vermillion Harbor.
Everyone finished eating around the same time and was talking about the Wallace Cup.
"You okay, Ash?"
Ash and Go had walked around the city to find the group. Ash's face was red and Go was smirking at the older trainer.
"Yeah let's go."
The two walked towards the group. Max's Mightyena stood up and stared at the approaching trainers, Max turned around and his face lit up.
"Ash!" he yelled, jumping out of his seat and running towards the raven-haired boy.
"Max!"
The two high-fived while everyone else jumped from their seats.
"Ash, long time no see," May said, holding up a peace sign.
"Yeah," Dawn chirped, high-fiving the trainer.
Drew nodded in agreement.
"Yeah, and congrats on the Champion title in Alola too," Brock said.
"So, am I gonna get some introductions?" Go asked.
"Right, everyone, this is Go, we're both research fellows at Professor Cerise's Laboratory. And Go, that's Brock, he's Pewter City's Gym Leader and is studying to become a Pokemon Doctor."
"That's Dawn, she's an awesome coordinator from Sinnoh, and her mom used to be one too," Ash said, gesturing at the blue-haired trainer who smiled and waved.
"That's May, she's a top coordinator from Hoenn and the daughter of the Petalburg City Gym Leader, and that's her little brother Max," he gestured towards the Hoennian siblings.
Ash gestured to the green-haired coordinator next, "That's Drew, he's one of May's rivals."
"And my boyfriend," May said with a smirk.
Ash was about to introduce Serena before Go interrupted him.
"Wait a minute, you're that girl with that cool Absol from yesterday, and you knew about the Rhyhorn."
Ash put his hand behind his head, "Right, I forgot you two had already met. Anyway, yeah, that's Serena, one of the greatest performers of all time, she's from Kalos, and her mom was a Rhyhorn Racer and she was trained to do the same thing until she recognized me after I jumped off Prism Tower to save Pikachu."
Serena nodded.
Oh, so that's his girlfriend, I'll give it to him, she's really pretty.
"Nice to meet you guys. Ash talks about his old friends a lot."
Go began talking with the group, Max had a bunch of questions about Raboot and the other Pokemon Go had caught, Brock also had an interest in the subject. May, Dawn and Drew also chimed in occasionally. Serena, on the other hand, stayed quiet.
"Sir both of them are here, should we attack?" A blue-haired woman said, staring at the group of trainers alongside her purple-haired partner.
"Negative, do not engage, we don't have adequate info on the boy's team and the girl is dangerous enough without throwing the boy and the package into the mix, and it's too dangerous in broad daylight where you could easily be identified."
"Yes sir."
"Told ya he wouldn't let us, Mabel," the purple-haired woman sneered.
"Can it Celosia, and don't worry my dear Houndoom, you'll get revenge on that Performer's Absol," Mabel said, stroking the Pokemon at her feet.
"He would never have let us even if they weren't together
Absol, at Serena's heels, started snarling. She narrowed her eyes at the Disaster Pokemon, but she didn't need to follow his gaze to know what he was snarling at.
They found me, and so quickly too. She glanced at Ash, and I'm not their main target anymore. She'd moved the Pokeball from her bag to her belt after Froakie had hatched and placed her hand over it.
"Earth to Serena Yvonne," Dawn sang.
"What, I-i-i, uh, what was the question again."
"You okay, Serena?" Ash asked, something's wrong, I've never seen her that tense.
Serena glanced over at where the two women were sitting, they were gone.
Ash placed a hand on her shoulder, "Serena? What's wrong?"
She looked back at him, "It's...nothing, I just thought I saw something. So what were you talking about again?"
"Right, I was hearing from everyone else about who strong you'd gotten in Hoenn, and I wanted to see for myself just how strong you'd gotten."
Serena smirked and looked down at Absol, who simply nodded.
"You're on."
A/N: Celosia and Mabel returning even after Team Flare and any hope for Team Neo-Flare had been snuffed out by our heroes, and what do they want with Serena, and who is their leader after Lysander is dead and Xeorsic imprisoned by the International Police? And, The battle will come in the next chapter, Kalos Princess VS. Alolan Champion. Also, I do wanna say, Serena's team is inspired by Y's team (Absol, Fletchinder, Froakie) from the Pokemon Adventures Manga since Y is Serena's manga counterpart so yeah, thanks for sticking with the story. Y'all are great, thank you.
