A/N: I DID IT! I'M DONE
(not really there's still an epilogue that'll come out maybe tomorrow or Tuesday)
There are two new fanfics that I have planned so I'm going to talk about them
The Alola Adventures is a kind of a rewrite of Gen 7, but the protagonist is an OC that I developed along with one of my friends that follows the storyline of the games. Ash is still going to be present but as a mentor figure instead of the main character. And this will start in a month to give me a break.
Champions Shadow is going to be a series of mine and those of you who are more versed in the lingo of fanfics would call it a kidfic. It'll be a series following the adventures of my fankids (and if that isn't your thing, feel free to ignore them). This will start in two months so I can finish some chapters beforehand.
I hope you've enjoyed this story and the stories that I'll start after this. It has been a journey and thank you for supporting me through this.
"I think we're getting close."
"Pika pi!"
"Car."
"I believe so as well."
Ash grinned at the support from his Pokemon before turning serious again, he was glad he had those three behind him.
"Lucario, I know you haven't fought someone like this, ever. But you're really strong, and with this-" he gave the Lucarionite to the Aura Pokemon- "we'll be even stronger together. Promise."
Greninja and Pikachu nodded in agreement, reassuring Lucario.
"Now, we've gotta give it our all when we go against him, the fate of the world is a stake here. We aren't giving up until it's over."
"Cynthia?"
"Ash is going after Lysandre, any way you can stop him?"
Diantha sighed as Steven answered, "No, we've got no clue where he is; or where Lysandre is for that matter."
"Why didn't we see this coming," the Kalos Champion muttered under her breath.
"Why, in Arceus's name, is that child so reckless?" Cynthia groaned.
"You know him better than we do."
"I realize that."
"Lysandre is losing it, so he's in more danger than one would think."
"Diantha, he's trying to blow up the planet, what do you mean he's just now starting to lose it?" the platinum-blonde questioned.
"Yes, he's trying to blow up the planet but he'd never kill the people working for him, and Steven and I heard a shot, we think he may have killed one of his scientists."
"And if he's killing his own people, he won't hesitate to murder Ash," Cynthia winced as she realized what she just said.
"What's wrong?"
"Serena is with me."
Diantha and Steven both winced, imagining the reaction the Kalosian girl would have to Cynthia's words.
"We'll try to track him down then, and try to stop him before he kills himself," Steven said.
"And I'll keep Serena from running in and trying to find him. Rotom, end call."
"Right behind that door," Ash muttered, "you guys ready?"
"Pika!"
"Lucario!"
"Gren!"
"Alright, Greninja, Lucario, use Water Shuriken and Aura Sphere on the door!"
The Aura Sphere dented the door and the Water Shuriken managed to knock the door off its hinges.
"Well, well, well. It's about damn time, Champion Ash Ketchum."
"Lysandre stop! You're going to kill thousands of people!"
"Thousands of people that have tainted this world with their greed, I'm doing the world a favor," Lysandre sneered, holding his arms out.
"Killing thousands of innocent people that have done nothing wrong! Civilians have been nothing but kind and peaceful their entire lives! Is that what you want?"
"It's EXACTLY what I want! And I will get what I want, and when I do, you and your little girlfriend are dying first!."
Ash scowled and clenched his fist, "There's is no way I am ever going to let you hurt Serena!"
"Don't make me laugh, Pyroar!"
The male Royal Pokemon leaped down from where it was lying and snarled.
"Lucario, let's do this!"
"Putting yourself at a disadvantage? Is it because that stupid frog of yours can't sync with you anymore?"
Greninja narrowed his eyes. "He's trying to get under your skin."
"Yeah and it's working," Ash shot back through telepathy.
"Burn that mutt alive with Incinerate!"
"Lucario, dodge it!"
Lucario jumped into the air, dodging the attack, but the attack managed to hit Ash's arm.
"AGH," he cried, closing his eyes in pain.
Ash forced himself to open them and look at his arm. His skin had turned red and white and took a leathery appearance. He tried feeling it and nearly cried because of the pain.
"Hurts, doesn't it," Lysandre cackled.
"Pika pi!"
"Gren."
"Car."
"I'm fine you three," Ash winced, "Lucario, are you okay?"
Lucario nodded.
"Alright, Pyroar is half normal-type, so send it packing with an Aura Sphere!"
"...so send it packing with an Aura Sphere!"
"Rhy?"
Giovanni nodded, "I know that voice; I knew he'd gone after Lysandre."
"...stupid little brat!"
The Drill Pokemon looked to its trainer as if it was asking what the plan was.
"We'll help the kid, Rhyperior."
"You moronic, idiotic, stupid little brat!" Lysandre snarled as he returned Pyroar.
Ash narrowed his eyes, finally coming out of the shock from being severely burned. "I'm not stopping until I beat you. I'M NOT GIVING UP UNTIL IT'S OVER!"
"Oh how sweet, using you and your pathetic little girlfriend's catchphrase. But that won't be enough, Gyarados, Hyper Beam!"
"Pikachu, counter with Thunderbolt!"
The orange beam collided with the golden electricity, causing an explosion and hazy smoke to appear.
"Psychic!"
What the- Ash was lifted into the air and thrown into the wall, along with his three Pokemon, knocking the wind out of him. He took gasping breaths to recover and returned Lucario to his Pokeball, the Aura Pokemon may have been fully evolved but it was still young and Ash couldn't bear to watch it get seriously hurt. He saw a Honchkrow land on Lysandre's outstretched arm.
"You played dirty!" Ash shouted, wiping a few drops of blood from his mouth.
"And you're going to die. End his life with HYPER BEAM!"
"Block it!"
Ash opened his eyes to see a Rhyperior in front of him, and it had taken the full force of Gyarados's attack.
"Congratulations, you have accomplished nothing and have doomed yourself to fail," someone said, slowly clapping as he came out of the shadows.
Ash and Pikachu turned to see who it was and their eyes widened.
"Pika pi?"
"I'm seeing it buddy, but I'm definitely not believing it."
"Giovanni," Lysandre snarled, "And here I'd thought you'd left for your headquarters. Or-" the Team Flare Leader smirked and his eyes darted to Ash and back in a split second- "were you worried about your daughter?"
Hold on. Ash thought, looking at the leader of Team Rocket, there is no way that this guy is Serena's dad.
"Like the kid said, you're going to lose, Lysandre."
"Oh, so you're taking his side now. How ironic."
What in the name of Arceus?
Pikachu's cheeks began to spark, conveying obvious distrust to Giovanni.
Ash scratched behind his partner's ears, "Cool it, buddy. I've got no idea why he's here but for right now, let's not electrocute him. He did just save our lives," he muttered.
The Mouse Pokemon narrowed his eyes at Giovanni and reluctantly calmed down.
"You are going to need your partner's power though."
Ash flinched.
"Rhyperior and I can take Gyarados, and I'm sure you and Pikachu can take Honchkrow."
"Yeah, we can. Use Thunderbolt!"
"Rhyperior, Stone Edge!"
"Incinerate the rat! And Shadow Ball it too!"
"Dodge it Pikachu!"
"Ash, I need you and Pikachu to lure Honchkrow close to Rhyperior, can you do that?" Giovanni asked.
Ash nodded, "Got it. Pikachu, get Honchkrow in close by Rhyperior."
"Pika!"
"Shadow Ball that stupid rat again!"
"Iron Tail it into Gyarados!" Ash commanded.
Honchkrow fired a purplish-black ball at Pikachu, whose tail took a metallic sheen as it whacked the dark-type attack into Gyarados. The Atrocious Pokemon roared in pain as the Shadow Ball collided with its side.
"Aerial Ace!" Lysandre roared.
"Dodge it!"
"Thunder Punch!"
Rhyperior slammed its rocky fist into Honchkrow's side, sending the Big Boss Pokemon flying into a wall.
Lysandre let out an enraged scream causing both Ash and Giovanni to flinch.
"I WILL WIN, AND I'M GOING TO MURDER YOU BOTH! INCINERATE THAT BRAT AGAIN!"
Two Water Shurikens countered the flames, causing a small explosion.
"Thanks, Greninja!"
"He already got you once, didn't he?"
Ash narrowed his eyes, "Why do you care?"
"I have a reason to, and I would hope that you've figured it out."
"Hyper Beam!"
"Greninja, counter with Water Shuriken!"
The orange beam was countered with two blue throwing stars, causing yet another explosion.
"Rhyperior, use Thunder Punch!" Giovanni commanded.
"DRAGON TAIL," Lysandre roared.
"Block it!"
Rhyperior blocked the attack but was forced back because of the power behind the dragon-type attack.
"Night Slash!"
"HYPER BEAM!"
The Atrocious Pokemon fired yet another orange beam that the Ninja Pokemon dodged with ease and slashed at it.
The air around Ash and Greninja seemed heavier like there was an invisible fog surrounding them. Droplets of water began to condense around the two of them, forming a torrent of water around them.
"Arceus damnit," Lysandre muttered.
Ash crossed his arms in an X, with Greninja doing the same. He broke the X and the torrent became a large Shuriken on Greninja's back.
So this is Ash-Greninja, Giovanni thought, observing the phenomenon before him.
"So, you think that transformation gives you the power to beat me? Well, think again! Gyarados, Hyper Beam him until he dies!"
Without Ash giving a command, Greninja dodged the attack, Trainer, and Pokemon moving in sync with each other.
"Water Shuriken!" Ash commanded, reaching his hand behind his back as Greninja did the same. Greninja sent the large Water Shuriken flying towards Gyarados.
"Finish it with Thunder Punch!"
Rhyperior rammed an electrified fist into the stunned Atrocious Pokemon, sending it flying at Lysandre, knocking the Team Flare leader against the wall, unconscious.
Greninja reverted to his base form as Pikachu seemed to ask if his trainer was alright.
"Yeah, I'm fine buddy, don't worry," Ash reassured, scratching behind his oldest partner's ears.
"Thanks, Greninja."
"Of course."
Giovanni returned Rhyperior to its Pokeball and turned to leave.
"Does she know?"
He stopped.
"Does Serena know that you're her dad?"
Giovanni nodded, "She does," he answered as he walked out.
"Can't imagine being in her shoes," Ash mumbled.
Out of nowhere, Gyarados was returned to its Pokeball. Ash turned around as Greninja got into a fighting stance and Pikachu's cheeks began to spark.
"You've lost, Lysandre."
Lysandre's eyes were wild with insanity, "If I die, THEN I'M TAKING YOU WITH ME!"
Ash's nose stung as he breathed in the scent of disinfectant, Pokemon fur, and the familiar smell of Serena's strawberry shampoo. The Kantonian Trainer tried to push himself upright before wincing in pain.
Both of his arms had been bandaged, though the arm that Lysandre had burned was in pain. He shifted his weight to his non-burned arm and continued pushing himself upright and adjusting his eyes to the bright light as he took in his surroundings.
He was laying in a hospital bed, the only noise coming from the equipment monitoring him. Ash turned to his left to see Serena curled up with his jacket draped over her shoulders and Pikachu in her arms. He let out a sigh of relief upon seeing her unharmed.
"Sol?"
Serena's loyal Absol had risen and was staring at Ash before trotting over to his trainer and gently nuzzled her palm.
Her face lit up as she saw Ash awake and sitting up, "It's about time, sleepyhead."
"Man, haven't slept like that in forever. How long was I out?"
"Four days. Diantha and Steven went to Kalos to handle the panic that Lysandre's attack caused but Cynthia is still here. Korrina and Alain went back too."
"Lysandre, is he?"
"Diantha came in three days ago and confirmed it. He's gone."
"Oh thank Arceus," Ash sighed.
"Is your arm okay?"
"Hurts pretty bad still."
"I can imagine."
"Met your dad, again I guess."
"Thought you would," Serena said, absentmindedly twirling a lock of honey-blonde hair around her finger.
"You okay, knowing who he is and all that?"
"I didn't know how to react, and I don't think I ever will."
"How's Greninja?"
"Fine, I sent Noivern back to Cerise's laboratory and swapped him for Greninja, I hope that's okay."
"Yeah, it's fine."
"They're only letting one person in here at a time so everyone insisted on letting me stay here."
Ash grinned, "I'm glad they decided that."
Pikachu jumped out of Serena's arms and scampered over to Ash and curled up into his lap. He scratched behind Pikachu's ears, earning a happy cry from the Mouse Pokemon.
"This might come out wrong, but how are you still alive?" Serena jokingly asked.
"I have no clue, but a lot of people have asked me that; am I that reckless?"
Serena snorted, "Yes. You almost died, Ash, of course, you're that reckless."
"You didn't stop me from running off though."
"That's because there was literally a wall between you and I. And even if there wasn't a wall, I wouldn't have been able to stop you because you're so reckless."
Ash scratched the back of his neck and grinned, "I won though."
Serena rolled her eyes and planted a kiss on his cheek, causing his cheeks to turn red, "You did, but you still could have died."
"Sorry."
"I'm just worried about you, and it doesn't exactly reassure me when you go running towards danger, Ash."
He gently kissed Serena's forehead, "I promise to be a little less reckless, okay?"
"A little?"
"With the number of legendaries that might need my help, I can't promise that I'll stop being reckless completely."
Serena wrapped her arms around Ash, "That's good enough for me."
