(Sound) laughter

[Theme]: Paragraphing

[Position] Exchange

The sound of laughter echoed through the halls of Malfoy Manor, for a brief moment, and then stopped abruptly. This was a noise that the household was not too familiar with.

"You're serious?" Draco asked, rolling onto his stomach and eyeing Harry with his eyebrows raised in concern. Draco tried to pull Harry towards him, but Harry's gaze remained firm.

Harry nodded. "Give me an opportunity to fail," Harry said. "I promise my corpse won't interrupt your 'I told you so' speech."

Draco's face went grey. "Harry, I really don't…" he trailed off. It was clear Draco was at a loss of what to say to change his boyfriend's mind.

"I just want to play Quidditch, Dray, surely you can understand that?"

Draco sighed, pushing himself up to sit. Silence fell in the Malfoy heir's large bedroom. Draco's eyes flickered to the ground, where he noticed one of his silver silk blankets, and a short barking laugh escaped him again. "Pick that up, would you?" Draco gestured towards the blanket on the floor. Harry looked annoyed, and Draco knew he was just stalling for time, but he really had no idea what to say. Yes, he could understand Harry not wanting to be an Auror anymore, but would the world really accept it?

He watched as his lover bent over, and tossed the blanket back on the bed. The nervous emerald eyes were watching him, waiting for a confirmation of the news.

"You know I love you, Harry…"

"But?" Harry interrupted; the disappointment was clear on his face.

"No but's," Draco grinned. "I believe you can do anything you set your mind to, you are dating me, after all."

Draco sat in the stands, and he watched as Harry and the team of the Chudley Cannons walked onto the field. Draco was proud of his lover. Harry never took no for an answer, not even from the former great Lucius Malfoy. Draco got lost in thought as he considered the day Harry Potter came to the doorstep of Malfoy Manor, insisting he intended to court Draco. Draco smiled with fondness at the memory. Below in the stands, Harry was mounting his broom. He held that heir of competitive spirit that Draco loved about him.

The whistle blew, and the brooms rose into the air.

"So, I see you are here after all," Draco heard a voice he recognized.

"I can't say no to him," Draco replied, turning to the redheaded female watching him with eyes filled with scorn. He avoided her eyes, as Ginny Weasley had been the main reason that Draco had not wanted their relationship to go public, and she reacted exactly as he predicted. She was almost as bad as Lucius himself, insisting their relationship is a disgrace.

To Draco's surprise, Ginny sighed. Draco looked at her. She seemed tired.

"I know I haven't been very nice to you," she said suddenly. Draco had a fleeting thought if the redhead knew Legilimency. "As hard as it was to accept, you make him happy."

Draco felt his eyebrows rise into his hairline.

"Really?" he replied, a slight edge to his voice.

"Really."

Draco needed to suppress a grin, and he remembered how one night Harry had told him. "She will come around, Dray, ultimately, she just wants me to be happy, same as Ron, or Hermione…"

Crash!

Draco's eyes scoured the Quidditch field, it sounded like a Bludger had connected with someone. But where was Harry?

Draco jumped to his feet, trying to get a better look. He spotted Harry, far out of the way of the commotion, following a tiny speck of gold.

"He's fine, it was the Keeper," he heard Ginny say softly.

"Oh," Draco paused. "Guess he listened after all."

"Listened to you?"

"I told him to stay out of the way of the Bludgers, or else," Draco paused. "No more Quidditch."

Ginny laughed softly, and without another word, she left him alone, to sit elsewhere in the stands. Seems like Harry was right, not that Draco was going to let him know that.
