"She had these tan lines…" Fin motioned in the shape of a woman in the air in front of him, his eyes half closed as he was presumably imagining the aforementioned tan lines.
"Tan lines, hmm?" Munch chuckled. Elliot motioned for another drink. The three of them were beyond sloshed and for once, he didn't give a crap. It felt so good to just be a guy for the night, and the conversation had inevitably turned to women a little while back.
"I love it when I get to see stuff others can't."
"Yeah, that's hot. My girl has this little birthmark on her hip, man… "Fin choked on his drink. Elliot sipped on his, closing his eyes briefly to stick with the mental image he had drawn up for himself.
"Kathy has a birthmark?" Fin asked after recovering.
"Oh um, yeah?"
Much raised an eyebrow. Shit. That sounded not nearly as confident as he had hoped. Throwing his drink back he decided to bite the bullet. Telling the guys about Kathy may mean they let his birthmark comment slide and remain a mystery. One could only hope.
"Kathy and I split up a while back."
"Split up?"
"We're getting a divorce."
"Does Liv know?"
"Yeah, Liv knows."
They were silent for a while after that. Fin finished his drink and Munch hummed along to the music that was playing in the background.
"So, you're sleeping with Benson?"
Elliot choked on a peanut. Munch arched an eyebrow. Fin smiled smugly and motioned for the waitress to come over.
"Make it a double round," he requested when the blonde made it to their table.
"Sure thing, boys!"
"So, Stabler… How long have you been nailing your partner?"
Elliot glared at Fin. He squeezed his glass a little too insistently and contemplated his options.
"I'm not nailing my partner," he mumbled.
"Of course you're not. You're nailing a woman who just so happens to have a birthmark where Liv does, and calling her your girl. And I'm into men." Fin laughed at his own joke before glancing expectantly at Elliot.
"Hang on a second! How do you know where Olivia has a birthmark?"
"Ahm um…"
"You walked right into that one, mate," Munch chuckled. Elliot was glaring at Fin, his discomfort forgotten, and Fin was too drunk to come up with a reasonable explanation or turn the conversation back around on Elliot. For once, Munch was glad he came out with them. Now if only Olivia didn't have to finish up that ridiculous prep work for court, she could be here to see this mess first hand instead of hearing about it later. Now that would have made it perfect.
As if the gods have heard him, the door of their little dive bar opened and Olivia strode through it. Munch spotted her and grinned, waving her over with a loud, "Liv!"
Fin and Elliot snapped their heads towards her, momentarily forgetting their standoff in favor of trying to figure out how not to get in trouble with her. Munch had other plans though. As Liv slid into the booth next to Elliot, Munch fixed his eyes on her.
"We were just chatting about how I'm the only one here who hasn't seen your birthmark. I'm feeling all sorts of left out."
Olivia blinked at him, then glanced over at Elliot who looked sheepishly back at her.
"We were gonna keep things quiet until after his divorce was finalized. Too much gossip as it is," she shrugged and settled herself against Elliot, taking a sip of his drink.
"Olivia!" Munch laughed at Elliot's outrage. Olivia glared at him.
"Elliot, keeping this quiet means you can't mention what I look like naked just because you had a few beers."
"We had shots…," he mumbled, even though he knew it wasn't an excuse.
She rolled her eyes, "beers, shots, whatever. I'm not gonna lie to the guys about it."
Fin lifted his glass in acknowledgement of her statement and Elliot snaked an arm around her waist and leaned in close to whisper, a little too loudly, in her ear.
"Does that mean I can kiss you? 'Cause I really wanna kiss you."
His other hand slid up her thigh and she shivered, leaning into Elliot's body.
"Um, guys? Cop dive bar, remember? Half of the city's finest are here."
Olivia pulled back immediately and Elliot almost fell on her as he kept leaning. Fin chuckled.
"Right. Thanks. Well, I'm out of here. Elliot, you coming?"
He scrambled from the booth, throwing some money on the table and folding his jacket over his arm, letting it hang in front of him. Munch groaned at his obviousness.
"Night, Liv. Elliot."
The two of them made their way out of the bar, into the cool night air of New York city. Olivia started walking, and Elliot followed without question. He could use the air anyway. They walked a few blocks in comfortable silence, El focused mostly on going straight and Olivia adjusting her angle to match his as needed. They were stopped at a crosswalk when he looked straight at her and asked,
"Why does Finn know you have a birthmark?"
"Sealview," she supplied easily, and started walking as the signal switched. Elliot stumbled to catch up, his arm reaching to grab hers.
"I thought you said Harris didn't…" he trailed off, his voice too high.
"He didn't. It was still prison Elliot."
"So?"
"Not all that much privacy for changing and showers and such," she rolled her eyes then shrugged. "Better Fin, than that creep Harris."
Elliot reluctantly agreed but wrapped an arm around Olivia as they made their way down the remaining few blocks to her apartment, even though it made it difficult to walk. She let him, matching her steps to his so they wouldn't stumble.
"Hey, Liv?"
"Hm?"
"Nobody else gets to see your birthmark from now on."
She laughed.
"Sure El. Only you."
