The rest of the day is a blur, and glee rolls around quickly. As usual, Rachel is the first one there, and she claims her usual seat in the first row. She wonders about what might the lesson of this week be. Mr. Shue comes up with the most random topics every week, and expects them to come up with songs to sing on the spot. She feels someone sitting down next to her before turning and sees Quinn. Her heart skips a beat, seeing the ex-cheerleader so close to herself.
"Hey. I've missed you. " Quinn says softly.
"I just saw you this morning." Rachel chuckles, loving how cute Quinn is being.
"So? I can still miss you, and I do. From now on, you should be by my side 24-7 so that I don't have bear the pain of missing you. And then I can hug you whenever I want. Do you know that you're the best hug I've ever had?"
Rachel is shocked at how much love Quinn is showing, and before she could respond, Mr. Shue's voice takes everyone's attention.
"Okay, everyone listen up! Today, we're gonna talk about family." Mr. Shue turns around and writes it on the whiteboard. "It's a broad topic, and a lot of songs are related to it. I would like you to sing any song about family. It can be about the happiness when you're with them, or the grief when you lose them, or just be about hoe thankful you are." "Anyone has ideas?"
Rachel raises her hand — she has just the perfect song in mind.
"Okay, Rachel, the stage is yours."
She walks to Brad, the pianist, and tells him the song. That man is a genius; it's like he knows how to play every single song there is in the world.
"…I'm thirteen nowAnd don't know howMy friends could be so mean"She thinks about the times that she got picked on.
"I come home cryingAnd you hold me tightAnd grab the keysAnd we drive and driveUntil we find a town far enough away"And how her dads have always been there for her.
"And we talk and window shop'Till I forgotten all their namesI don't know who I'm gonna talk to now at schoolBut I know I'm laughingOn the car ride home with you"She catches Quinn swaying along the song with her eyes closed, and she smiles. She's so beautiful like this. Actually, she's always beautiful :)
"Don't know how long it's gonna take to feel okayBut I know I had the best day with you today…"The whole glee club applauds, and the small diva returns to her seat, happy.
"That was a great example, thank you Rachel. So, next time everyone should have something prepared. You're free to go now."
Everyone starts walking out, and Quinn appears at Rachel's side.
"Another Taylor Swift song?" The taller girl asks. "You're a fan?"
"Um, not really, but I do think she's pretty, and I like You Belong With Me a lot. I really like the melody and everything about that song. I listen to it all the time."How about you? Do you like Taylor Swift?"
"Yes! I love her! She's one of the many reasons I'm gay." Quinn says with a dreamy smile on her face.
"Oh really? What's your favorite song?" Rachel feels a tinge of jealousy towards Taylor Swift.
"I can't choose one, but I like the album folklore the most. I've been listening to it on Spotify none stop."
Before Rachel could respond, Kurt comes out of nowhere, and grabs her arm.
"I need her." And then he drags the brunette out of Quinn's sight, not giving either girl time to argue.
"Oh well." Quinn shrugs, heading towards the field. She's gonna study while Brittany practices, and they'll walk home together.
She really needs to study, since she's been very distracted by a certain brunette. She stares at her when they have the same class, and the other times she daydreams about her, plans their wedding, doodles hearts around her name... Basically, anything that you imagine a girl with a huge crush on someone would do.
After Cheerio practice, on the way back to the Pierce's
"Hey, Q?" Brittany starts while they walk down the road leisurely.
"Hm?"
"Your father kicked you out because you told him you're gay, right?"
"Yeah."
"Then, why don't you have a girlfriend?"
"Why do I have to have a girlfriend to be gay?" Quinn tilts her head to one side to show her confusion.
"Well, you know you're going to be kicked out, so there must be someone there for you to decide this is important. Why not hide it, if there's nothing to lose?" The taller blonde explains.
"Yeah… That makes so much sense, why don't I have a girlfriend indeed." Quinn responds already deep in her thought as to how to get her girl. "You're really smart, Brittany."
Brittany shoots Quinn a bright smile, and they continue to walk in silence. Not long later, a big smile appears on Quinn's face too, and that's because she just thought of the perfect way to ask Rachel out.
At the same time in Rachel's situation
"What?" Rachel asks without patience, still angry because her conversation with Quinn got cut short.
"I need your opinion on what to wear for my big date with Blaine this weekend." Kurt leads them out of the school, and onto the way back to his house.
"You dragged me away from Quinn just for this?" "Also, since when did you value my fashion opinion?"
"I realized that sometimes, I can go a little too far, so I need someone to tone me down." Kurt says slowly, obvious that he doesn't want to admit anything like that. "Also, why are you so grumpy? Come on! We can have fun! You tell me about your problems with boys, and I'll solve them!"
Rachel can't deny that she likes this plan, after all, she really needs someone to help her with her crush on Quinn and everything, and there's no better choice than Kurt.
"Okay~ I do have things to share with you." The brunette lets out a smile, making the boy's face light up too.
They step into Kurt's bedroom during one fo those light and irrelevant conversations, and Rachel sees three different pairs of outfits laid out on Kurt's bed.
"I'm gonna put those on, and while I do that, you can tell me the things you wanted to say." The tall boy says, turning to pick up the blue suit.
"So, um, to be brief —"
"Rachel Berry being brief?! That's a first!"
Rachel playfully smacks her friend's arm, "Come on, I'm serious!"
"Okay okay."
"As I was saying, there are basically three things I want to say. First, Quinn is gay." She pauses to see Kurt's reaction.
He just shrugs. HOW CAN HE BE SO CALM!
"And the second?"
"I'm bisexual."
"Okay, and the third?" He does look a little shocked by that. But just a little.
"I, um, I might be, um, kind of, um, in love with Quinn."
To that he squeals. "I'm so glad you told me that!"
"Aren't you shocked the first two things?"
"No, I'm not shocked at any of that! I'm only excited because I have been waiting for you to realize it, and you finally did!"
"What?"
"I have a great gaydar, Rachel. It's not hard for me to find out you and Quinn aren't straight. And, the two of you have always shared some kind of chemistry." Kurt says, still holding the suit that he planned to show Rachel, but now forgotten because he's so engaged in this conversation. "Anyways, do you plan on asking her out? If you two start dating, you guys can go on double dates with me and Blaine!"
"Of course I want to ask hen out, but I don't know how, and she might not even like me back."
"Let's not worry about if she'll say yes or not, let's plan 'how' first."
"Weren't you going to show me your outfit for your date?"
"Eh forget that, let's get you your girl!" Kurt sits down on his bed, looking all kinds of serious. "I think you should sing a song, you know, do what you're good at. Do you know what kinds of song she likes?"
"Oh I know I know! She said she likes Taylor Swift!"
"Great. We'll sing one of her songs then, so now, we just need to find one song of hers that's not about a horrible break up or stupid feud between friends." Kurt says, and pulls out his phone to search for appropriate songs.
After scrolling for a while, he exclaims, "Ooh, how about 'You Belong With Me'?"
"Oh yeah, I was just talking to Quinn about that song! That would be perfect!"
"Great! So I think we could recreate the scene in the music video. You know with the sketch book thingy." He turns to search for one in his drawer, and soon pulls one out to give to Rachel.
The girl sits down at his desk, and starts writing.
"BE MY GIRLFRIEND?" It says on the piece of paper.
"Looks good," Kurt approves, "this is a great way to ask someone out! It involves singing, and it's romantic enough, but still simple and not too much. Quinn's so gonna say yes."
Rachel giggles and asks, "So should I do it in glee? Would it be weird or something?"
"Um I think glee is fine, I mean, it would be even stranger if you asked to sing to her alone, right?"
"Yeah. You're right, thanks Kurt. Really appreciate your help, sorry for ruining your plan of showing me your outfits though."
"It's fine, this is more fun anyway." Kurt says smiling. "So, tell me all about it, like, how you found out, why you have been do close with Quinn, what your interactions are like, is she really as great as she seems?"
Rachel chuckles, and moves next to the tall boy, "Quinn's really nice!…" And then she tells him all of the encounters between them, including every single detail, and a dreamy sigh to sum everything up, "Isn't she just so worth crushing on?"
