Chapter two- The attack in the forest
The forest was as she had left it. No creature that didn't belong here, no sound that was out of place. Cara enjoyed the silence, although it was anything but quiet. The trees creaked in the light wind, several birds could be heard and the cracking of her steps accompanied her.
Half of the way was behind her when she came to the Walker's path. The sound of a running At-ST made her freeze, images from her time as a shock trooper came up in her, the screams of her comrades were in her ears. She looked around in panic, but there was nothing. The sounds faded and only the birds and the distant river could be heard.
She realized that everything was just happening in her head. The tree next to her had to endure her anger, she hit him until her knuckles began to throb painfully. Breathing heavily, she sank down on the forest floor against the tree. Inhale - one, two, three, four, exhale - one, two, three, four, five, six. After a while her pulse calmed down. Look ahead, not back - she reminded herself. Cara brushed her hair from her sweaty face.
The river bordering the valley was not far and at its end was the village. After a short time she arrived on the bank. The water sparkled in the play of lights in the forest. Clear rippling washed the last shadows from Cara's mind and she enjoyed watching the play of the water. The slight smile that always took on her face when she was relaxed now played around her mouth.
It would get a bit muddy, but she decided to stay on the riverbank anyway, but then she was suddenly stuck. The mud made a smacking noise and when she tried to free herself, she sank further into it. Cara looked around, no branch was within reach.
Inventory- clothes, blaster, knife. She quickly abandoned the idea of tying her clothes together in a rope. If she tried to undress, she would sink in even more. The knife was no help.
She reached for her blaster and aimed at a small tree that stood in front of her. It worked, the tree fell after the third hit. With a satisfied smile, she pulled herself a little forward out of the mud, only to sink further into it the next moment when the tree gave way and slid into the mud. She had no chance to free herself from the mud on this tree. Her blaster was now stuck in the mud too. When she finally freed him, he refused to serve her. Cara swore.
