Dinner and Hanging Out Part 1:
After their practice, the 49ers held their internal team scrimmage. With dual-threat QB Phillip Schrute and versatile CB Phillip Schrute, the 49ers offense and defense never looked better than the last 3 years. With extreme competition on both sides of the ball, the 49ers offense and defense still played to their highest potential. Impressed with what he saw from both offense and defense, Coach Larson smiled at his players putting in lots of work.
"Check Warrior 23! Warrior 23!" Phillip Schrute said.
As Winston Demarius accidently snapped the ball too high, Phillip Schrute recovered the ball and kept the play alive by running past defenders and hurdling through them. Finding separation between Jay and FS #30 Logan Howard, Phillip threw to Jay, who was in the end zone. When Jay jumped to catch the ball, Jay caught it and his feet landed on the endzone, ending the scrimmage.
After Jay got the touchdown, Coach Larson was impressed with Schrute's playmaking ability.
"Not bad for a Philly QB," Coach Larson commented. "But you got lots to learn."
After the scrimmage was over, Jay leaped onto Phillip's back.
"Bro! You're gonna get noticed out there in the game. Tampa Bay defense won't know what hit'em," Jay said.
"Hey, we made the play work," Phillip Schrute humbly said.
"Nah, man. You recovered the high snap, ran over the defense and threw a TD. You're like Dangerous Wilson, so to speak," Jay complimented.
"At least I'm not Carson Wentz," Phillip Schrute quipped.
"Dude, that throw was awesome! Not bad!" Jason said.
"Way to go, Schrute! Way to redeem yourself after I picked you off," Phillip Halpert said.
"Yeah. What's the deal with Winston? Like, does he have a strong friendship with Richardson or something?" Phillip Schrute said.
"Yeah, man. Alex adjusted to every snap Winston made. But, since you came in, he's having a little hard time adjusting to snapping the ball to you," Jay said. "I'll talk to him."
As Jay jogged toward Winston, Jay called him for a small chat.
"Winston! What was that high snap about? You were doing really good throughout the entire scrimmage. What happened?" Jay asked.
"Sorry, man. It just slipped. Plus, it's hard to take snaps from another QB who we beat," Winston said.
"I know. But you gotta trust him, man. He's a really good guy. Though the Harvard incident may leave you with a negative opinion, he's still a nice guy. Just be open about him. I did that and I felt more calm and less toward him," Jay said.
"I'll try. But it won't be easy," Winston said.
"Aight."
As Jay jogged back to Phillip Schrute, Phillip Schrute asked Jay a question.
"Hey, which restaurant is the best in the Bay Area?" Phillip asked.
"Hmm. Probably, Benihana or BJs. If you're into Asian style food, then go to Benihana. It's the best. But on a personal suggestion, BJs is the best," Jay advised.
"Thanks. I was wondering if you and Astrid would come to dinner with me and Addison," Phillip Schrute said.
Jay was surprised. He didn't expect Phillip Schrute to ask him to come to dinner.
"You serious man? We patched up and started getting along. Of course man. I mean, me and Astrid got zero plans tonight, so I'm happy to do it," Jay said.
"Cool. See you around at 9pm at BJs," Phillip Schrute said, leaving the field.
Jay's talking head: Honestly, I didn't expect Schrute to befriend me that quickly. Though he had great chemistry with the team overall, I think it's a little too quick to hang out. But, hey. At least we're getting along. And I'm glad that I'd be hanging out with Schrute for the first time.
"Hey, baby. So, you got plans tonight?" Jay asked Astrid.
"No. Why?" Astrid asked.
"Schrute wanted us to come to dinner. I think it's too fast. I mean, we're just getting along slowly," Jay said.
"Well, he just wants to make things right. Maybe he's just feeling sorry about how he treated you in the past," Astrid said.
"You maybe right. Besides, I wanted to watch that documentary more," Jay said.
"We can watch it before we head out to dinner," Astrid said.
"Alright, let's go," Jay said to Astrid, with both of them walking out of the field.
Just as Astrid was walking away with Jay, Cecelia and Emily were rushing toward Jason and Phillip Halpert.
"Man! That was awesome! Both of you guys really balled out," Emily praised.
"Well, we had our ups and downs, but we got some work in, which I feel happy about," Phillip Halpert said.
"Not just that, Halpert had me really guessing. Thanks to him, he helped me out in reading corners really well," Jason said.
"I'm glad you guys patched up and became a true team. Besides, I think it's time that we meet each other's families. I mean, we all are family friends who didn't know about each other," Cecelia said.
"You got that right. I always wondered how you got your mischievous attitude and prankster skills. I presume you got them from your dad," Jason said.
"Well, you should meet him. Besides, you'll like him and he'll like you," Cecelia said.
"You got that right. Anyhow, let's go. We got a lot to discuss," Phillip Schrute said.
Jason's talking head: I honestly have to admit, it wasn't easy for me internally when it comes to talking to Halpert. But, as we kept talking to each other and had some sort of familial connection,
As the Scott and Halpert siblings departed, Jay and Astrid drove off on their car.
"You want to keep watching the documentary?" Jay said, holding the 2nd CD of the Office.
"Sure, anything to pass time," Astrid said.
When Jay popped in the CD, he opened the video player and was surprised to see around 28 episodes.
Interested at the episode, The Dundies, Jay clicked the yellow-lettered words and pressed "Play" on his screen.
As Jay and Astrid kept watching the episodes, they were stuck in traffic for 2 ¾ hours. As a result, it gave them more time to learn many things about the employees of Dunder Mifflin Scranton. They were surprised to see Pam being bothered by Jim dating a handbag saleswoman named Katy in Fire. They were impressed to see Michael's laid-back behavior loosen up a client, which resulted in closing the deal with a sale in The Client. In The Client, they saw Michael and Jan kiss, causing some suspicion that Michael and Jan were in a relationship before Michael met Holly. As they were watching the ending of Booze Cruise, Jay and Astrid were saddened at Jim's emotional plight. When they were watching Take Your Daughter to Work Day, they couldn't stop laughing when Stanley Hudson was reprimand Ryan Howard for flirting with his daughter after being mislead by a jealous Kelly Kapoor.
"That little girl is a child! I don't want to see you sniffing around her anymore this afternoon, do you understand?!" Stanley Hudson, a grumpy salesman, ranted.
"Yes, I-" Ryan Howard stammered.
"Boy, have your lost your mind? 'Cause I'll help you find it! Whatcha lookin' for? Ain't nobody gonna help you out there! Jesus could come through that door and he's not gonna help you if you don't stop sniffing after my child," Stanley Hudson ranted.
"Okay," Ryan nervously said.
In a talking head interview, Ryan stated, "Stanley yelled at me today. That was one of the most frightening experiences of my life."
"Did you see Ryan's face?! God! That was brutal!" Jay said while laughing.
"I think I remember my mom yelling at me like that when I went out my high school friends without telling her," Astrid said while laughing.
"Wow. Who knew these characters would stand out? Sounds like a fun documentary laced with comedy. Remember that girl who was in Hot Girl, the last episode of Season 1? Can't believe Jim broke up with her on Booze Cruise. Jim just made it harder on himself. I feel sorry for the man," Jay remarked.
"Well, he was in a tough spot. I have to agree, that wasn't the best move. Can't he have the courage to speak out?" Astrid said.
"It's funny you mentioned that. I mean, that only occurs in entertainment. Not in real life," Jay remarked.
"True. But, couldn't he just stay with Katy? If he was heartbroken, can't he just move on with her?" Astrid questioned.
"Well, he just lost a golden chance at moving on," Jay said.
As Astrid was about to say something, they arrived at their home, which is a huge mansion in San Mateo.
"To be fair, I sort of like Angela and Dwight. They seem quite like us," Astrid said when she got out of the car.
"I was gonna say the same thing, but they're not hypercritical, uptight, or annoying. They do somewhat look good together," Jay said.
"Well, I hope Dwight and Angela get their happy ever after. But I'm quite sure Ryan and Kelly's relationship is super-dysfunctional," Astrid commented.
"That's true. Kelly's love is one-sided and Ryan doesn't show any interest at all," Jay replied, supporting Astrid's comment.
"Anyhow, let's get dressed. We got a dinner to attend to," Astrid said.
While Astrid and Jay went inside their mansion to get changed, the scene shifts to San Francisco, where Jim and Pam were talking inside Cecelia's apartment.
"So, is it weird that we'll be seeing Michael and Holly again? After many years?" Pam asked.
"Yeah. I mean, I'm surprised Michael has changed. I didn't really expect him to be so mature," Jim said.
"Come on, you know he didn't mature out alone. He had Holly and his kids help him out," Pam said.
"I think you're right. But, as a sign of good friendship, do you want to welcome Michael's family with a harmless prank?" Jim asked.
"Jim! We're just meeting their family after so long! I don't think he and his family will appreciate it," Pam reminded.
"Right, sorry. Can we pull jokes though?" Jim asked.
As Pam and Jim started talking about jokes they can pull on Michael and his family, Cecelia and Phillip Halpert talked to Jason and Emily Scott via the phone.
"How long is it till you guys get here?" Cecelia said.
"Probably about 30 minutes. Besides, we'll be there with you and your fam," Jason said.
"Hey, buddy. I can't wait to meet your family. My dad says your dad's a chill dude," Phillip Halpert said.
"Well, he is. He also likes jokes. So feel free to crack a joke, but not a sexual or racial one, please," Jason reminded.
"Noted. My dad also told me your dad was once a hopeless romantic. Is that true?" Phillip Halpert said.
"As a matter of fact, yes. He dated a divorced vice president of a company, a divorced real estate agent, and a married bar manager, and your divorced maternal grandma," Jason admitted, but was nervous when he mentioned Phillip's grandma.
"I can see the nervousness in your voice when you mentioned my granny, but that's alright," Phillip Halpert said. "I don't understand why your dad would date my grandma shortly after my parents got married."
"It's a long story. It has to do with my dad being a hopeless romantic," Emily said.
"Well, that sums about it. Anyhow, we'll see you later," Phillip Halpert said. "It looks like a reunion as family friends."
"See ya later, man," Jason said.
When Jason and Phillip Halpert ended the call, Jason was watching the documentary alongside Benjamin, Emily, and their recently arrived sister, Leah. While watching the Casino Night with his siblings, one scene caught their attention.
"About 10 minutes ago. No I didn't know what to say. Yes, I know. Um, I don't know, mom, he's my best friend. Yeah, he's great. Yeah, I think I am," Pam said on the phone, talking to her mother.
Just as Pam was about to say something, Jim enters the scene.
As Jim was approaching Pam, he said, "I have to go."
Just as Pam was approached by Jim, she said, "Listen, Jim…."
As she was about to say something more, she was kissed by Jim.
After their kiss, Jim said, "You have no idea how long I wanted to do that."
In response, Pam said with hesitation, "Me too...I think we're just drunk."
Jim said, "I'm not drunk. Are you drunk?"
Pam said no and Jim leaned in for another kiss. But Pam stopped him when she said, "Jim-"
Jim surprised, asked, "Are you really gonna marry him?"
Pam nodded with a serious look on her face.
Crestfallen, Jim hid his heartbreak and said, "Ok," before he let go of her hands.
As the episode ended, Jason was surprised to see Jim and Pam's friendship grow apart when they admitted their love for each other, but refusal to go even further. Regardless, Jason knew Pam and Jim are his favorite documentary couple. While Jason and his family arrived at the building where Cecelia lives, they proceed to leave their car.
When Jason's family arrived at the building, the scene shifts back to Cupertino, where Jay and Astrid arrive at BJs at 9 pm. Dressed nicely in office workwear, they were surprised to see the same beady-eyed man named Dwight and the judgmental blonde woman named Angela they saw in the Office documentary, coming into the restaurant.
"Whew, thank God we made it in time!" Dwight said.
"I told you not to spend time finding the perfect parking spot," Angela gently chastised.
"I was wondering where he is," Dwight said.
Just as Angela was about to answer, she noticed a familiar face who once had an argument with her son. Tapping Dwight's shoulder, she signaled him to look at the familiar face. Dwight remembered who that face was, Jay Sharma.
"Excuse me? Aren't you Jay Sharma?" Dwight called out.
"Yes, sir," Jay said, being surprised by the appearance of Dwight Schrute. Also seeing Angela, Astrid was surprised as well.
"Very well then. My name's Dwight Schrute. And this is my wife, Angela," Dwight said, introducing himself and Angela to Jay and Astrid.
"Schrute? Oh, so you must be Phillip's parents," Jay said, realizing that Phillip and Dwight are actually related.
"Yup. Look, what happened many years ago, I'm sorry about it. I assume my son gave you an apology," Dwight said.
"Not only did he give me an apology, we also found out that we'd get along. And I know about you guys too. Didn't you guys work at Dunder Mifflin Scranton?" Jay said.
Dwight and Angela were surprised by this. They were surprised to hear that people still watch their documentary. They were also surprised to see Jay Sharma with Astrid Levinson.
"Oh, I forgot to introduce myself and my dear wife here. I'm Jay Sharma and this is my wife, Astrid Sharma-Levinson," Jay said.
Dwight and Angela were astonished and appalled at the same time. Dwight didn't expect Jan's daughter to marry a well-known football player who had a personal rivalry with his son. Angela, astonished by the revelation, didn't say anything.
As Astrid met Dwight and Angela, she was surprised to see them and realized that Phillip's parents are Dwight and Angela.
"Yeah, I remember you guys. Dwight and Angela, right? I watched the documentary. Not all of it, just finished the second season," Astrid said.
"Oh. Then I must bring you to speed about what happens next," Dwight said, proceeding to tell them everything him and Angela been through.
Just as Dwight was going to talk, his son and Addison Michaels found them.
"Hey guys! I was looking all over for you! And I see that you've met," Phillip Schrute said.
"Yes. We did. Gotta say, I'm surprised you invited him to dinner," Dwight complimented. "Thought you wouldn't do so."
"Well, him and I are just getting along. But Schrute and I put our past behind and started to move on," Jay said.
"Very well then. Shall we?" Dwight asking if we can head to the table.
Just as Dwight, Angela, Jay, and Astrid are being led to their table by Phillip Schrute and Addison Michaels, the scene re-shifts to San Francisco.
Just, as Jason's parents and siblings arrive holding flowers at Cecelia's apartment front door, Micheal was about to ring the bell.
"Dad! I'll ring the doorbell," Jason said.
Letting Jason ring the doorbell, Michael stepped back.
"Isn't Jason taking this too seriously?" Michael asked Holly.
"Well, it's his first dinner with his girlfriend's family. Of course he'll be extremely serious. And as the dinner goes on, he'll loosen up. Give him to settle in, Mikey," Holly said.
Just as the door was opened by someone, Jason saw it was Cecelia who opened.
"Hey, baby," Jason said, seeing Cecelia.
"Hey, boo," Cecelia said back.
Seeing Jason's family, she said, "You guys must be Jason's family. Please come in."
When Jason and his family were welcomed in the house, Michael and Holly happened to be welcomed by Jim and Pam with a hug.
"Hey guys! What's up?" Michael said.
"Well, I'm kind of disappointed. That you didn't tell us that your son Jason is an elite NFL player and is dating my daughter," Jim jokingly said with a smile.
"Hey, my son has risen up on his own in the NFL. The reason for his elite status is because of his hard work, discipline, and talent," Michael humbly said.
"Does the same go for your daughter Emily? In terms of her WNBA MVP status?" Pam asked.
"As a matter of fact, yes. That is correct, Pam," Michael confirmed.
"But, hey. Your son's an excellent cornerback. I've seen him read many routes and make many defensive plays," Michael said.
"Thank you, Mr. Scott," Phillip Halpert said. "To be fair though, probably Emily's the biggest impactful star on the female basketball industry. Because she made herself a feminist icon and made the WNBA a well-known basketball organization, aside from the NBA."
"Why, thanks," Michael said, not noticing that Emily was blushing over Phillip's statement.
"Hey, dinner will be ready in a few minutes. Wanna play a game before dinner gets ready?" Pam suggested.
"Sounds like a good idea," Holly said.
"What Holly said," Michael said.
"I'm in," Jim said.
"All of us are," Jason, Cecelia, Phillip Halpert, Emily, Benjamin, and Leah said.
"Ok. Which game? Celebrity or Charades?" Pam asked.
To be continued…..
