Dinner and Hanging Out Part 2:

When Dwight, Angela, Phillip S., Addison, Jay, and Astrid were seated in their table, they were looking at each other's faces.

"I'm surprised to see your dad is none other than Dwight Schrute," Jay said to Phillip.

"Yeah. You watched the documentary?" Phillip asked.

"Not entirely. I watched two seasons of it. The ending of season two tells us that Pam rejected Jim, stating that she was going to marry Roy. What happened to them?" Jay said.

"I would tell you to keep watching the documentary," Phillip suggested.

"I see," Jay said. After he turned his attention to , Jay wanted to ask him something.

"Whose idea was it to keep yours and Mrs. Schrute's relationship a secret from your co-workers when you guys were working together at Dunder Mifflin?" Jay asked.

"It was Angela's idea. She didn't want to become a talk of gossip in the office," Dwight explained.

"That makes sense. I have to agree with Mrs. Schrute about the decision to keep a relationship under wraps," Jay said.

"Why would you agree to keeping a relationship under wraps? Angela asked, interested.

"It's for a similar reason like yours, except the circumstances are different. Name one example of a relationship that involves football players and movie stars," Jay said.

"Tom Brady and Bridget Moynahan," Dwight answered.

"What happened to their relationship afterwards and the drama that came with it?" Jay asked, trying to make a point.

Astrid, realizing the point he's trying to make, steps into the conversation.

"The point that Jay's trying to make is that don't publicize your relationship, until it's permanent," Astrid explained.

"Oh. Hmm. That's smart. Basically you're doing the same thing for a different reason," Angela said.

"Correct. And may I ask you how you guys came together? I actually liked your relationship more than Jim and Pam's," Jay said.

"Well, it's a huge story. But we'll do our best to explain," Dwight said.

Phillip, scooting his chair toward Jay, whispers in his ear, "What they're about to say may weird you out. Be warned."

"So, you've seen Season 2, right? Well, here's the overall story. Angela and I had our ups and downs. But, I was misguided into mercy-killing Angela's beloved sick cat, Sprinkles. Because of that she broke up with me, leaving me in a huge depression at the time. To inflict more emotional pain to me, she started dating someone named Andy. They were engaged at one point, until she rekindle her feelings for me. But we split up again due to trust issues. After a few years, I felt I wanted a kid. It may sound appalling, but I created a child-rearing contract with Angela. However, due to some temptations, I had another fallout with Angela, which resulted in my attempts to void the contract. But, then she voided the contract when she went out with former Senator Robert Lipton. Around that time, a child was born to Angela and the Senator. Due to a tip-off given by a coworker of mine, I started to suspect that child is mine. So, I tried to find many ways to prove that I'm his father. But, a faulty DNA test said otherwise, which I believed. And, I was starting to move on with another woman who's from the same farming community. But Angela got jealous again. After Robert Lipton came out as gay, he divorced Angela. She was at an all-time low at that time. Around that time, I was promoted to Regional Manager of the Branch. After seeing the child at work one day, he displayed mannerisms which are similar to mine. To test my theory, I played a little game with him, if he would choose a beet or a check for a million dollars. He picked the beet. That convinced me I was his father. Angela, however told me it wasn't the case. Around that time, a friend of mine convinced me to pursue the one loved, which was Angela. After I proposed to her, she accepted and revealed that the child was indeed my son," Dwight narrated.

Jay, surprised at how Phillip's parents had an on-and-off relationship, felt like he brought this on himself when he attempted to make a point. Excusing himself to go to the bathroom, he quietly texted Astrid to come to the bathroom. Also excusing herself to go to the bathroom, Astrid follows suit.

Just as Astrid and Jay reached the bathroom door, Jay decided to apologize.

"I'm sorry. Now I know what would happen if I tried to make a point on making a relationship secret," Jay admitted.

"Well, I'm glad you learned your lesson. You ok, though?" Astrid asked.

"Not exactly. Their relationship taught me something. Keeping a relationship secret will divide us rather than bring each other closer. I didn't realize that until now," Jay said.

"In our case, yes. I'm glad you saw through that. But you were right about one thing though. Don't publicize your relationship until it's permanent," Astrid told.

"Thanks, baby. Should we head back?" Jay said.

"We should. It's been a minute already," Astrid said.

"Ok," Jay said.

When Jay and Astrid had their heart-to-heart talk, the Scott and Halpert families in San Francisco were playing a game of celebrity.

"His full name has letters of the names of the lion sea-goat constellations," Michael said, hinting toward a celebrity's name.

"Leonardo DiCaprio?" Pam guessed.

"Correct. Pam, your turn," Michael said.

Taking out a slip of paper, she opened it.

"Ok, this woman has a recently won Oscar for Best Actress for the movie, True Love," Pam said.

"Astrid Levinson," Cecelia guessed.

"Oh god! How were you able to guess that?" Pam asked.

"I watch the Oscars. Plus, I'm a good friend of Astrid," Cecelia said.

"Wait, you're a friend of Astrid Levinson? How come you never told us that?" Jim asked

"Well, her husband used to be Jason's roommate back in Stanford," Cecelia told.

"That's surprising. Jay never told us that he got married," Michael said.

"Wait, who's Astrid's husband?" Jim asked.

"Jay Sharma. You know, one of the two athletes you got to sign for Athleap along with Jason," Cecelia said.

"How long have you known this?" Michael asked.

"They've been married for 3 years in secret. They met each other at the same time Cecelia and I met each other back in college," Jason said.

"There's something I need to tell you guys," Michael said.

"What do you mean?" Benjamin asked.

"Yeah, dad. What do you mean?" Leah asked.

Jim and Pam, realizing that Michael will explain his horrible relationship with Jan 3 decades ago, decides to tell his kids the simple truth and leave out the specific details.

"Astrid's mother dated your father when he was working at Dunder Mifflin. She was her superior at the time. She's also very manipulative. She exploited your father in many ways, leading him to suffer in their relationship. He then broke it off and became his happy cheerful self," Pam explained.

Jason, realizing who Pam was really referring to, chimed in.

"Are you referring Jan Levinson-Gould?" Jason said.

"Yeah, how do you know her?" Jim asked.

"I watched the documentary about you guys. My entire family did. Because of that documentary, I started to realize how much pain my dad was under. Mrs. Halpert, if you didn't know, the reason my dad became a comedic person was because of the pain he went through as a child. Did you know that my grandma remarried another man named Jeff? Jeff was really neglectful of him, leading to Michael resenting him. My grandma also neglecting my dad shortly after she got remarried. While Jeff and my grandma cared about their own kids, they didn't really care about my dad. No one has heard his cries, saw his tears, or felt his sorrow. To escape that pain, he found solace in comedy. Though his antics may have rubbed you guys the wrong way, he never intended for anyone to suffer," Jason revealed.

"Jason, don't tell-" Michael said, but was cut off by Jason.

"Why should I not tell? You didn't even tell the real reason why you broke up with Mrs. Halpert's mom. You broke up with Mrs. Halpert's mom because your relationship with her reminded you of Jeff's relationship with grandma. It wasn't just because of the age. You realized that Pam was going through the same agony you went through when Jeff and grandma were dating," Jason revealed.

"Stop!" Michael yelled.

Jason didn't say anymore and left the living room in frustration.

Pam, surprised and astonished, asked Michael if Jason was telling the truth. Michael tearfully confirmed Jason's revelation.

"Michael, I'm really sorry. I didn't know you had that much pain and sorrow throughout your life," Pam apologized. "And you should've told me. Or Jim. Or Dwight, or anyone. Why didn't you tell us back then?"

"What good would it do if I told you the real reason? You thought I would be spinning yarns," Michael said in tears.

"Michael, based on what I knew about you, you can't keep secrets. I'm surprised you kept this secret for about 26 years," Jim said.

"Look, I'm really sorry, Michael. I mean it. Even though I know that dating my mom is unacceptable, I'm touched that you realized what I was going through. And I didn't realize you went through this when you were a kid," Pam tearfully apologized.

"I'm really sorry for dating your mom. Though I wanted to break up with her, I didn't think about the timing," Michael said.

"Yeah, the timing was off," Pam said.

"You want me to talk to Jason? I can calm him down," Cecelia said.

"Yeah, please do," Holly said.

Just as Cecelia went to calm Jason down, Michael regained his emotional composure and was back in good spirits.

"So, you guys wanna keep playing or you guys want to play another game?" Michael asked in his cheerful attitude.

"That's what he said," Pam chuckled, which resulted in laughter among those who listened to Pam.

While Pam's joke led to people laughing, the scene shifts back to BJs.

Dwight, Angela, Phillip Schrute, Addison, Astrid, and Jay were having dinner. Hoping to have dessert, Jay and Astrid decide to have a Cookies and Cream pizookie.

"So, Addison, Phillip says that you're a popstar in the U.S. Beating the records of Ariana Grande, Cardi-B, Nicki Minaj, and other female artists," Angela said, with a slight hint of disapproval.

"I beat their records in music album, music video views, and concert sales. I managed to do that in a way that doesn't make me look promiscuous," Addison revealed.

"Well, that's nice. I'm assume you're a huge Adele fan," Angela said with a smile.

"Yeah, she was one of my influences in music," Addison said.

Giving hints of approval of Addison to her son, he smiled.

"So, Astrid, what inspired you to go into the film industry?" Dwight asked.

"Well, I wanted to redefine the way people look at female actors. Rather than plays roles which cause objectification, I played roles which didn't have much sexuality shown," Astrid revealed.

"Yeah, that's pretty nice. You know, I was impressed with your movie, True Love," Dwight said.

"You playing Samara Nathan was very exemplary. I mean, it looked so real, like a heartbroken woman has found true love again," Angela said.

"To be fair, if your character was a little down to earth, then the movie would be much more appreciated," Phillip constructively critiqued.

"That's what her character was when she fell in love with Nick Ryan. I mean, she was this soccer player who had her heart broken and found love with a football player," Jay stated.

"Well, that makes sense," Phillip said.

"What is it like at Schrute Farms?" Jay asked.

"The business is very profitable. No one has ever thought of opening a luxury farming resort. We're like the first to do so. We're thinking about expanding, but we feel the quality of our service would be lowered," Dwight said.

"We'd like to visit that place one day," Jay said. "If Phillip and I make the Superbowl, then we'll be there. This season's Superbowl will be held in Philadelphia."

"Wow. Ok," Dwight said.

As they kept on eating, their desserts have arrived. While Angela noticed Astrid in a craving way, she started to think that she's pregnant.

"Are you guys have thought about having kids?" Angela asked. "You guys look old enough to be parents to newborns."

"Actually, yes. Astrid's pregnant. I found out 2 days ago. But can I ask you something? Please don't tell anyone about this. We're just starting to become public," Jay said.

With some thought, Angela and Dwight agreed.

"Well, congratulations. Your kids will be really lucky that they have two really attractive and successful parents altogether," Dwight said.

"Thank you. By the way, Mr. Schrute, how were you able to work with a boss like Michael? I mean, sure he means well in the things he tries to do, but he's nuts," Jay asked.

Dwight smiled at Jay's words.

"Well, it wasn't easy. He'd hold these meetings to discuss issues which are not a problem to the office. For example, he outed Phillip's godfather, which led to discrimination by a few co-workers. In that meeting, Michael forcefully kissed him after he hugged him in front of the entire office," Dwight said.

"God, he's such a homophobe," Jay commented.

"Not exactly. He just doesn't understand how outing someone works. He also doesn't have any type of sensitivity toward anything," Angela said.

"Basically, he's an offensive jokester who didn't take into consideration of how others feel," Jay summarized.

"That's the type of person he was in the beginning. But, as we kept working with him, he started to change for the better. The perfect example for that was he helped us kick out an obnoxious salesman who was always travelling out of the Scranton branch," Dwight said.

"Do you mean Todd Packer? I remember that episode, Sexual Harassment. He made a crude joke about a upper management sexual scandal. Where the CFO allegedly had sexual relationships with his secretary?" Jay clarified.

"Very well understood. If I had one wish though, I wish that I could slaughter that misogynistic Neanderthal pig," Dwight said.

"Ok, that's too much. But I see the anger in your words," Jay said.

"Well, thank you. And I'm glad that you cleared the air with my son. I was really glad to hear about you guys getting along," Dwight said.

"Your welcome," Jay said.

When Jay and the others paid the dinner bill, they left the restaurant and saw Dwight and Angela drive their rented car.

"You know, your parents are really chill. And I'm sorry for calling you many things in the past. It was really great of you guys to invite us," Jay said.

"Hey, we didn't make a good impression at first. But now, I feel like we can be friends," Phillip Schrute said.

"Sounds about right. Besides, wanna stay over at our place? It'll be fun," Jay asked.

"Is this somewhat of an invite?" Addison asked.

"Something like that. Besides, my mom often goes to bed early. And she falls fast asleep," Astrid said.

After some thought, Addison and Phillip Schrute agree.

"Sure. Let's go," Phillip Schrute said.

As the two couples head over to Jay's house for the night, the Scott and Halpert families are having a comfortable dinner back at Cecelia's apartment. With a calmed down Jason, he was eating peacefully alongside his family and Cecelia's family.

"Congratulations, Michael. Happy retirement. And may I ask who should I thank for your transformation into a sane person?" Jim said.

"You should thank Jason. He helped me out with everything. When it comes to father and son, the father usually helps out the son. But in my case, Jason helped me. He helped with managing finances, socializing, and many other things which contributed to a successful career and happy family life," Michael stated.

"Sounds like Jason raised you in a way," Jim said.

"Yeah. I'm glad I had Jason in my life. Without him, I'd be a goner," Michael said.

"Come on, dad. Without you, I wouldn't be here. Besides, you helped me in a way which I never expected. Letting me pursue my dreams and giving the support I need. That's why I credited Michael as the main reason for my success," Jason said.

"Wow, that's more a tight relationship you guys have," Jim said, humbled by their love.

"How did you guys meet? You and Cecelia?" Holly asked.

"We met each other at a football game. She was a spectator who rooted for me, despite me being in the rival school. And I was just a rookie football player. We met after the game and I was star-struck. But I kept it simple as friends and we got to know each other. The case is different for Jay and Astrid, though," Jason said.

"In what way?" Benjamin asked.

"While we were the ones who took the "getting-to-know-each-other route," Jay and Astrid hooked up when they laid eyes on each other that same night," Jason said.

"Woah. I didn't expect him to pull off such a feat," Michael said.

"I didn't really care much about them that night, because I was busy talking to the girl that I love most," Jason said.

"Wow. You guys must've been in deep love, huh?" Pam asked.

"Yeah, but I think we both were lucky in way. We were single at that time. As we got to know each other more, we understood that we can't live without one another. But to live with each other, we wanted you guys to accept our relationship," Cecelia said.

"That's sweet. I think it maybe weird for saying this, but I approve of Jason. I mean, Michael and I had a bit of a crazy history as friends, but I also saw Michael was a really good parent," Pam said, stating her approval.

"Gotta say yes on this matter," Jim said.

"I approve as well," Phillip Halpert said.

"Phillip, you're only saying that because you're dating Emily, who I also really like," Pam said.

"Gotta say another yes for Emily," Jim said.

"Well, I can't say no to Jason. Because I know whatever decision he takes is the best," Michael said, stating his approval of Cecelia.

"I'm with Michael," Holly said.

"Hey, I'm starting to like Cecelia as a friend, and I approve," Benjamin said.

Emily and Leah also approve of their older brother's relationship with Cecelia.

"And I have to say yes to the young Halpert here. I like you, man," Michael said, showing his approval of Phillip.

"I say yes. I like him," Holly said.

"Hey, whatever decision my sister takes, I fully support," Benjamin said, with Jason and Leah agreeing with him as well.

"So, everyone agrees to both relationships? Gotta say I didn't expect to meet you guys again," Michael said.

"Same here, buddy," Jim said, hugging Michael.

"I mean, who knew that we'd meet each other again, as family friends to possibly a real part of each other's families?" Pam said.

"Yeah. I'm glad we're still have that friendship that we have with one another," Michael said.

"We also are glad," Jim said.

"Anyhow, thanks for the dinner. So I'll see you again, I suppose? At the reunion?" Michael said.

"Not just as friends, but as family," Jim said.

"See ya guys," Michael said, departing with his family. With Jason and Emily giving romantic glances to Cecelia and Phillip respectively, they smile in joy.

When the Scott family left, Jim and Pam were so happy about seeing Michael and Holly after many years. They were not only happy about Michael's personality change, but also about their kids being in love with Michael's kids, who they genuinely liked.

"Michael did a really good job at raising his kids," Pam said.

"I'm glad he's doing alright. And I'm also glad that we met him again. Because without him, we wouldn't be together," Jim said.

When Jim and Pam had a hug, their children joined in too, happy that both families have accepted their relationships.
