Despite the pouring rain in some spots and the high winds rushing through the valley, causing some of the larger trees to sway scarily close to the road, they rolled into the barren campground an hour later.

Mike noticed his partner let go of the steering wheel with a faint sigh of relief, his hands undoubtedly cramping from white-knuckling it through some of the more compromised areas of the two-track. Hesitant to turn off the engine, Steve glanced over at him, waiting to receive some direction on what to do next.

The rain was slowly letting up, at least enough so that it wouldn't drench them within minutes. Looking out of the windshield, Mike saw the few park benches Trombley had referred to, along with a fire pit that had seen some use not too long ago. Beyond that, Tim Doyle's contact had been right. The site didn't exactly stick out as a huge meeting spot for youthful camping enthusiasts.

"Let eh…let's take a look around for a few moments. See if we find anything. If our apothecary hangs out here frequently, there's a chance he has a cabin around here someplace."

With his long fingers tapping against the steering wheel, Steve seemed less than enthused to leave the confines and safety of the Galaxy.

"Trombley knows something about that guy. Do you suppose they work together maybe? Could be that he's covering for some of the shady stuff going on out here…"

"It's possible.", Mike said and looked over at his partner, seeing the same foreboding worry in those bright green eyes, "He could turn a blind eye to some of the drug and sex crimes going on in exchange for…for being part of it perhaps. Or he's getting paid off."

"And so our list of suspects grows even more…", Steve muttered and turned off the ignition, before reaching for the door handle, then hesitating. When he glanced back up, a wily smile spread on his face.

"You said they have mountain lions around here?"

"There's probably a few. I wouldn't worry about it too much. We have more important things to do."

Despite the Lieutenant's slight irritation, Steve never lost his cheeky smile.

"I'm not worried. I hear when they attack their prey; they go for the oldest and slowest ones first."
