The Wedding Part 3:
(Cold Open)
On the day where Jason and Cecelia are about to be wed, Jay and Astrid found out that Jeff and Samantha got married in secret. Jay's sister, Ramsey, informed him of the news and she wasn't exactly happy about it.
"Are you kidding me?" Jay furiously said. "Put him on the fucking phone!"
When Jeff was handed the phone, Jeff started to speak.
"Brother, I can explain. Besides, it isn't like I eloped with her," Jeff argued.
"Are you insane? I get that you told mom and dad, but why did you leave out Ramsey at this?" Jay furiously questioned.
"It's because I didn't trust her enough. She took your wedding nicely. And when she found out my relationship to Samantha, she was very furious. I knew she wouldn't accept her, so I acted on my own accord. I don't need anybody's approval," Jeff argued.
"You're right. You don't need anybody's approval. But what were you thinking?" Jay questioned.
"Didn't you do the same thing with Astrid?" Jeff questioned.
"So now, you're coming at me like?" Jay said. "I did what I thought was the right thing to do!"
"And we had secret weddings away from public eye. And don't forget Ramsey got married in secret to a sports doctor. We got that from her!" Jeff said before ending the call.
Realizing that Jeff was right, the practice of secret weddings runs around the family bloodline. Jay thought it was something that shouldn't be shared with public. Now he knew that it's the way to keep love eternal.
"You good?" Astrid asked.
"Not exactly. I'm not sure if I'm in the emotional conditions to be Jason's best man," Jay admitted.
"Relax. Jason knows that you have a lot on your plate. And Schrute's taking over for you and Addison is taking over for me. We'll be fine. They've been getting close together and it'll be cool if they play together in Pittsburgh." Astrid said. "We need to be focusing on us."
"You're right. Being with friends is over. Let's do it," Jay said, coming to accept the fact that his youth is over.
While Jay and Astrid thought of plans to move somewhere else due to their decision of leaving the Bay Area, Jason was getting groomed by his groomsmen.
"Bruh, you looking dapper in that suit!" Ian Kitani said.
"Well, let me have my moment. Don't make it yours," Jason said.
"Is my son ready?" We gotta move!" Michael said before coming in.
Michael looked at his son and looked amazed at how handsome his son looks.
"Wow! You look even more handsome than I did when I got married,"Michael said to Jason.
"Dad, please. Let me have my moment," Jason reminded.
"Ok," Michael said tearfully before leaving the room to cry.
"Is your dad that emotional?" Schrute asked.
"When it comes to family, he is. And that's why I love him," Jason said. "Even though he can be crazy in some ways. In a crazy way, he made me the man I am today. I owe him that."
"Well, we got to get moving. Your bride ain't gonna be up waiting for you forever!" Liam Johnson said.
"Yeah, we got to go!" Jason said. "But before we head out, I need you guys to give this letter to Jay. I think it's time that Jay and I need some distance. He knows it'll be hard, but I just need to let him know that I'm very happy right now. And that he's the best friend that I can ever ask for."
"You got it, mate. We'll tell him," Liam said. "Now, let's head to the altar!"
Just as Jason and his groomsmen head to the altar, Cecelia was getting ready with her bridesmaids.
"You know, Jason fell head-over-heels for you. The first time you met," Katherine Noguchi said.
"Yeah. You guys still planning on playing sports after you guys have kids?" Olivia Killian asked.
"Nah. Until I realize that it's time, I'll have kids," Cecelia said.
"Girls, is Cece ready?" Pam asked.
"She is, Mrs. Halpert," Olivia said.
When Pam and Jim came inside, she saw Cecelia was gorgeous than ever in her bridal gown.
"Oh my god, you look so beautiful," Pam said tearfully.
"Yeah. I mean, our little daughter's growing up," Jim said tearfully.
"You know I love you guys. And take care of Phillip for me. He thinks he can hold his own, but he can't," Cecelia teased.
"Yeah, sure," Jim chuckled teary-eyed. "Let's get you to the aisle."
While Jim escorts her daughter to the altar, the wedding guests get seated.
"Do you think Jim's daughter and Michael's son would make a good couple?" Oscar asked Jan.
"I'm not gonna answer that question. We shouldn't judge, Oscar," Jan reminded.
"Right. Got a little curious," Oscar said.
"Um, I'm sorry, Jan, who's this pipsqueak?" Coach Larson said, turning around and looking at Oscar with suspicion.
"Sorry, Raymond. This is Oscar, State Senator of Pennsylvania and Senior Head of Accounting. And he's gay," Jan introduced Oscar to Coach Larson.
"Ah, right. I forgot. Name's Coach Raymond Larson," Coach Larson said, leaving out his first name to avoid a scandal.
"Oh. You're the coach for the 49ers," Oscar said.
While Oscar kept his mouth shut after meeting Coach Larson, Phyllis and Bob Vance were seated on another side of the seats.
"Is it just me or is their wedding the event of the decade?" Phyllis said.
"It is the wedding of the decade. It isn't about how we spend. It's how low-key we make it," Bob said.
"You know, it's weird seeing Michael's son marrying Pam's daughter," Phyllis commented.
"Phyllis, he isn't a jackass like the Michael you knew. He cut Michael to size. Not sure how much, we're sure Michael's very respectable," Bob assured.
"I see. Anyhow, let's watch," Phyllis said.
With Phyllis and Bob sitting next to each other, an old looking redhead watches with happiness.
"I'm not surprised that Michael's son is marrying Jim and Pam's daughter. Besides, he's not an idiot like his father and he's extremely handsome," the old looking redhead said.
"Meredith, of course he's handsome. More handsome than Michael," Kevin commented.
"You seriously gonna compare him to Michael?" Meredith said with a surprised look.
"Why wouldn't I?" Kevin said.
While Kevin and Meredith had their conversation, Angela and Dwight sat down, talking to a dark-haired Italian woman who used to be Jim's girlfriend.
"Are you surprised that Jim and Pam's daughter's getting married to Michael's son?" Dwight asked the woman.
"Dwight, I'm really surprised. And shocked. I was surprised to hear Michael's son is this elite wide receiver in the NFL. And Jim and Pam's daughter being a U.S. Olympic volleyball player. Their kid's gonna have a strong background in athletics," the woman said.
"Karen, you're jealous. Aren't you?" the woman's husband said.
"I'm not. I'm surprised. Who knew that Jim would invite me to his daughter's wedding?" Karen said.
While Karen and her husband kept talking to Dwight and Angela, the guests are surprised with the arrival of Pam's ex, Roy and his wife, Laura.
"Hey, Roy. Glad to see you around," Darryl said.
"Thanks, man. Jim and Pam told me to come. I'm glad to come, but I'm surprised. Is Michael's son like Michael?" Roy asked.
"Hell no. He's more decent and very jovial in appropriate situations. Unless someone needs some comic relief," Darryl said.
"I see. Well, let's sit where the bride's side of the family is. Besides, we owe it to them," Roy said.
While Roy, Darryl, and Laura sat down, Toby was looking around.
"I'm glad Nellie isn't around," Toby said to Michael.
"Who the hell's Nellie?" Michael asked, confused at the identity of the person.
"Um, this woman I had a crush on. Remember the woman who took Andy's job?" Toby clarified.
"Oh. That woman. God, she was inarticulate. I mean, she's horrible. Although she's not fit for high-end positions, I hate her less than I hate Robert California. Because he's like a male version of Jan, except that he's dark-haired and is an ostensible rapist," Michael said.
"Those are strong words from a grown-ass man who I knew used to be childish in the things he does," Toby teased.
Michael chuckled at this and said, "That's what he said" in a low voice to avoid making a bad impression in public. This resulted in both chuckling, showing their friendship is improving.
While Michael and Toby were talking, Toby mentioned Todd Packer. As a result, Michael looked at Toby with disgust.
"What is it, Michael?" Toby asked, wondering he went wrong.
"When he badmouthed Holly, I lost all respect for him. That's when I realized I cared about Holly. Also, when I heard Packer laced cupcakes with drugs as a prank toward the office, that was the last nerve. Just don't talk about him again," Michael kindly warned.
"Alright. I promise," Toby said. "You managed to patch up with your stepdad or has that boat sailed?"
"Nah. That boat sailed. However, Luke became very decent the last time I saw him. My half-sister knew I did the right thing by spanking him because she told me that Luke was undisciplined," Michael told.
"I see. Glad to hear you doing well," Toby said.
"How's your lovelife so far? Found anyone worth going out with?" Michael asked.
"I prefer not to answer that question," Toby answered.
"Keeping it close to privacy, I like that," Michael complemented. "I'm happy that we didn't Andy."
"Why?" Toby asked.
"Why do you think?" Michael said.
Toby suddenly realized the Baby Wawa label that Andy has.
"Oh yeah. The BW label," Toby said.
"Exactly. I mean, will he just sit there and cry?" Michael joked.
Toby chuckled at this. He liked taking a few digs toward people who he found to be annoying.
"Um, should we get to it?" Toby said.
"Yeah, we should," Michael said as Toby sat at the bench behind Michael.
Seeing this exchange surprised Jim and Pam, who never expected Michael to get along with Toby.
"Michael is full of surprises tonight," Jim commented.
With Pam agreeing, they decide to not say a word.
When Michael sat down, he was happy for the wedding to start.
When everyone was seated in the aisle, the wedding music starts.
As Jason and the groomsmen arrive at the altar, Cecelia was being escorted by her dad to the altar.
While Jason saw Cecelia coming to the altar, he looked like he was starstruck the first time that he saw her at UC Berkeley stadium.
The same was felt by Cecelia, except the feeling's more intensified. When Jason and Cecelia arrived at the altar, they were met by a minister.
"Jason Oscar Scott, do you take Cecelia Marie Halpert as your lawfully wedded wife, in sickness and health, till death you part?" the minister said.
"I do. For all eternity," Jason said.
"Cecelia Marie Halpert, do you take Jason Oscar Scott as your lawfully wedded husband, in sickness and health, till death do you part?" the minister said.
"I do. With all my heart," Cecelia said.
When they put on their wedding rings, they looked at each other with love.
"Now, you may kiss theā¦." the minister said, before being surprised at Cecelia kissing Jason deeply.
Surprising everyone, they never expected Cecelia to be such a romantic. When Jason walked with Cecelia by his side, they were given a bouquet with flowers.
When they stepped out of the church in Scranton, they were faced with someone who used to be Michael's best friend.
"Hey, Scott!" the man yelled.
"Hey, asshole. You weren't invited, so leave," Jason coldy said to him.
When Michael saw the man, he was disgusted.
"Todd Packer? How the hell are you here?" Michael asked in surprise.
When Todd Packer looked at Michael, he was about to attack him.
"Hey!" Jim exclaimed.
As Todd Packer attempted to furiously punch Michael, Jason knocked out Todd Packer with one brutal punch. As a result, Todd Packer was bleeding from his mouth and nose.
When Jason pulled out a bandana to remove the blood stain from his hands, he told Michael, "Call 9-1-1, dad."
All of the wedding guests were heavily impressed and Michael called 911.
When the police arrived, they arrested Todd Packer. When the officer asked Jason the circumstances of him punching Todd Packer, Jason claimed that his dad was defenseless against Packer and he had to act out of protection. This caused the police officer to close the matter.
When the police left, they applauded Jason for his heroics.
"Michael, I never expected you to teach Jason to fight," Dwight said.
"I didn't. He taught himself that. I thought it was a little violent, but I saw how useful it is. Lucky that Jason remembered his lessons," Michael humbly said.
"For the first time, you never took credit for something others did. That's great parenting. You may've been a great boss, but you're the greatest parent in this country," Oscar praised.
As many people praised Jason and Cecelia, they were about to drive off in a car that said, "Just Married."
"Hey, Jay. Jason wanted me to give this to you," Ian said, giving him the letter.
"I actually have a letter to give him too," Jay said, pulling out a letter from his suit.
"Hey, Jay. Is that for me?" Jason said, noticing the letter.
When Jason takes it, he thanks Jay. And when Jay takes the letter meant for himself from Ian, he decided to open it. Reading the content in it, he started to read.
Hey Jay,
I know that we had some thoughts about joining the same team. But things have changed. In our personal lives. Things aren't always the same with us many years ago. I realized that we have different lives to lead. And that those lives are our priority. And I'm not asking you to end our friendship. I'm just saying that we need some distance. You're my best friend, Jay. And I will always remember that. I hope you have a great life and maybe we'll see each other, but in different jerseys. I seriously hope you the best. You are the toughest motherfucker I know. And wreak some hell if you're able to.
Goodbye, Jason.
Reading the letter made Jay emotional. Knowing that all good things need to come to an end, Jay decides to let Jason live his life, knowing that their friendship will be a forever lasting memory.
Before Jason drove off, he read the letter.
Hey Jason,
Ever since my kids came into this world, I started to see a shift in priority. I've been very busy with my kids and my wife. With that, I started to realize where my true happiness lies. It's family. I assume you're feeling the same too. But, here's the thing. I think it's time we get on with our lives. Our friendship is the best memory that I'll always carry. You're one of the best friends I've ever had. And to be frank, I'm gonna miss the moments we had together. Hope you have a blissful martial life.
Adios, Jay.
Reading Jay's letter made Jason also emotional. Knowing that he's right, they decided to go their separate ways. While Jason and Cecelia drove off to the airport for their honeymoon in Brazil, Jay and Astrid drive off to Jan's house after a long day. Feeling that isn't farewell, both men decide to see each other again if fate lets them.
When both cars go in separate directions, it symbolized that good things have to come to an end.
When Jay and Astrid have arrived at Jan's house, Jay thought about relocating to somewhere South or Midwest in the United States.
When he asked Astrid about where she wants to go, she gave out her options.
"It'll be nice if we relocated to either Dallas, Tampa Bay, Seattle, Los Angeles, or New Orleans," Astrid suggested.
Thinking about those options, Jay smiled, showing that he came to a decision.
"Why don't we hit up Tampa Bay?" Jay asked.
