Chapter Five:
Kagome smiled politely once they were closer to the table. A small part of her hoped that he had stood them up. That instead of him coming, there would be someone with a message stating that he could not be there, but alas, that was not the case.
'But at the same time, I am comparing a complete stranger to a bunch of rude and arrogant demon lords that I have met in the past during the feudal era and that one cat at a ball last year.' She thought as she suppressed a shiver at the thought of the arrogant cat demon lord who practically demanded that she danced with him. The reason why he came off so arrogant to her, even though she had just met her that night, was because he believed that he was the only one there who was worthy of dancing with her.
'The man had two left feet.' She slightly huffed before looking up when a waitress came to take her, Shippo, and Bankotsu's orders.
~ Shippo's Point Of View ~
'I didn't even know Kagome knew how to mark someone as her intended.' Shippo thought, but from Erik's scent and the way he's currently reacting to being near Kagome, there was no doubt in his mind that he had an intended mark on his neck. 'But why didn't she ever say anything?' He thought as he looked at Kagome. Knowing Kagome for as long as he has, he knows that this is something that she usually wouldn't keep to herself. Even if she were embarrassed about the process, she still would have said something.
'Maybe he didn't want her to tell anyone? But then he would have to know about demon mating, and even if he did, Kagome wouldn't go for that. His leaving her made her depress and not want to talk about it? But she knew Sesshomaru would help her find him if that was the case, plus if Sesshomaru knew about it, he would track him down whether Kagome wanted him to or not.' He thought. He continued to think of reasons, but the only one that made sense was if she had no clue that she placed the mark there. 'Kagome's beast could have taken over and marked him without her knowledge, and if he left before she woke up, she would have never seen it.'
He was broken out of his thoughts when Bankotsu elbowed his side, looking over at him. He raised his eyebrow, silently wondering what the hell he wanted, only to realize what he wanted. When Bankotsu pointed towards the waitress, who was waiting patiently for him to take his order. While the others were looking at him and wondering what was taking him so long to order. Or quietly talking to each other as they waited for the meeting to continue.
Smiling sheepishly at being caught not paying attention, he knew Bankotsu was never going to let him live this down, he placed his order.
