Prologue: Rising sun

The rain was freezing, below freezing probably, and came down, painfully hard on his skin as he desperately sprinted throw the crowded streets of the city, yelling from in front and behind him. "WHY? WHY DID YOU DO THIS!? GIVE IT BACK GIVE ME BACK MY PEGASUS"! He yelled, ironically hot tears beginning to spill down his face and his black hair whipping around his face. "S-STOP FOLLOWING ME! I'M SORRY! I'M SO SORRY BUT I NEED THIS! WE NEED IT! I-I CAN TAKE IT TO ITS TRUE POTENTIAL"! The thief yelled, sounding both desperate and apologetic. "No…NO I POURED MY HEART AND SOUL INTO IT! GIVE IT BACK TO MEE!" the boy yelled, heartbreak and betrayal clear in his voice. He could hear the others yelling for the thief to hurry up and get to the car. The two were approaching a cross road and the traffic was heavy.

But he couldn't stop. Not when he was so close. He was so so close. He became heedless of the yells around him, telling him to stop, to give up. No. He wouldn't. NEVER! He leapt forward and finally with all his strength rammed into the thief, who let out a yell and he felt his hands grip the box and he held it close to him. "NO!" The thief yelled and tried to reach out, right as the headlights of a car illuminated them. The thief was out of range but the pursuer…His eyes widened and he clutched the box even closer now as the car came and tires screeched as his world exploded in pain…

He could feel himself slipping into unconsciousness as, he saw the shadows of people gathered around him, he could make out horrified expressions…the thief and her friends in the corner of his eye looking on, being held by police. Warm blood was under his fingers and he saw the box just a short distance away from him and he reached out weakly. It was undamaged. "Pegasus…give it back…my Pegasus…

The 15 year old woke up and stared at the ceiling of his room and sighed softly. "That dream again". He whispered and slowly sat up frowning at the lack of feeling from the waist down. He was clearly of Japanese-American heritage. His skin was tan and he was well built for his age, a little on the wirery side. He sighed and ran a hand through his shoulder length, black hair. He had dark blue eyes which were slowly scanning his room. Various figures and posters, showing off one of his main interests: Mobile Suit Gundam lined the walls and shelves and he had a large display shelf filled with various gunplay. However the light was off, casting the models in a depressing shadow. His name was Alec "Asahi" William-Sakomoto. Japanese-American teenaged son of the wealthy William-Sakomoto family…and retired Gunpla builder and fighter.

Had been for going on three years now. He closed his eyes once more and his eyes travelled to a smaller shelf that held several custom Gunpla models he had built. Some of the absolute best custom builds he had worked on…and they sat quietly and sadly on the shelf. It was connected to an LED display which was sadly also off, casting even darker shadows. Alec had given up completely on Gunpla and Gunpla battle and almost the majority of Gundam as well. Ever since the incident three years ago that had cost him much of his happiness and the use of his legs. He hadn't picked up a pair of nippers or a kit on so long, much to the worry and sadness of his family. At the moment now, he was being sent over to Japan for a change in scenery and to spend time with his mother and her side of the family. He looked over at the time and sighed. "Right, I need to get ready. He said softly

Today was the day he was heading over to Japan for the entirety of the summer. He groaned softly. At least he was fully fluent in Japanese. With a grunt he grabbed the railing next to his bed and hauled himself over to the wheelchair, grunting with a bit of effort he managed to sit himself down in the wheelchair and sighed and glared down at his non-functioning legs. "Asahi? Are you awake?" A voice called out in Japanese making Alec blink. That was his kother Yoshino Sakomoto and the current head of the Sakomoto family. She often switched between Japanese and English, frequently. "Yeah mom I am! Just gimme a minute to get ready, and I'll be down soon"! He responded, before he grunted again and wheeled himself toward the bathroom. "Hurry! Our plane is leaving at one in the afternoon today"! Yoshino said, getting s soft sigh from Alec before he finally wheeled himself into the bathroom, staring at himself in the mirror. He hummed and turned the shower on.

Alec glanced over as the trunk slammed closed, holding all of his and Yoshino's language. Speaking of his mother Alec glanced over at his mother. She was a tall woman and had the same black hair that Alec had. Her face was sharp but her eyes were kind. They were a greenish-blue color, and she was wearing a simple white button down shirt and jeans, with a black bracelet on her arms. She was speaking to his father, James. He was a tall man, with a muscular build and wearing a simple polo shirt and cargo pants. He was tan, and had the remnants of a recently shaved mustache and had stormy grey eyes and dark brown hair. Alec hummed and wheeled himself over, getting their attention. "Are we ready to go"? He asked, getting a nod from Yoshino.

"I think we are. We'll see you at the end of the summer James". She said with a soft smile. James chuckled and nodded, hugging mother and son. "I know, have fun and Alec, I think this trip will do you some good. Make some new friends this summer hopefully and maybe you might"-"Dad. Please don't start with this again. I've told you before, I'm done with Gunpla and that isn't going to change". He said with a sigh. This had been an on-going conversation since the accident three years ago. Alec would be lying if he didn't say he was tired of hearing it.

James sighed. "I know Alec but…Japan is the home of Gundam. At least give it some thought won't you"? He asked. Alec gave him a look and rubbed his face. "I can't have this conversation again. Are we ready to go or not"? he asked, crossing his arms. James sighed and gently ruffled his hair. Yoshino closed her eyes and nodded. "I think we are." She said and gently kissed her husband and placed a hand on her son's shoulder, gently pushing his chair toward the limo. With the help of the driver, Alec pushed himself in and the wheelchair was folded up and stored in the trunk as well. He lowered the window and waved to James who waved back. "Have fun in Japan kiddo and tell everyone I said Hi"! He yelled. "I will! See ya soon dad"! Alec shouted back over the car engine before the window rolled up and the car finally moved down the driveway and toward the airport.

Alec groaned softly to himself when he felt someone shaking him gently. "Asahi. Asahi wake up, we're at the airport now and the car is waiting for us". Yoshino said softly. Alec groaned a bit more before blearily opening his eyes and giving her a look before slowly sitting up in his seat. "Okay, okay fine I'm up". He said with a small sigh. He sat forward and with Yoshino's help, got back into his wheelchair and wheeled himself down the aisle and toward the door. With the help of a flight attendant he moved his chair down an escalator from the plane and toward a sleek black and silver limo was waiting, with the driver and a Japanese man with slightly greyed black hair and the same greenish-blue color as Yoshino. He was wearing a button down shirt and jeans and had a small smile on his face, his hair going down to his shoulders and being tied in a pony tail.

His Uncle Takeshi Sakomoto. Alric smiled and wheeled himself over, more excitedly, waving to the man. "Uncle Takeshi"! He exclaimed, getting the man's attention, who's smile increased. "Asahi!" He exclaimed and kneeled down and gave Alec a strong hug. One which Alec returned happily. Takeshi gently ruffled the teen's hair and finally released him to hug Yoshino, who happened to be his younger sister. "How've you been Takeshi? Its been way too long since we've last seen each other. You should really come to America at some point". She said with a small smile. Takeshi let out a hearty chuckle and ruffled her hair as well. "I know imōto. It really has been too long. Everyone has missed you, Asahi and James. Speaking of which, how is he"? Takeshi said.

Alec smiled. "Dad's doing good, he had to stay behind in America to take care of some work, so its just gonna be me and mom for the summer". He said with a small shrug. Takeshi smiled and shook his head. "That man never stops working does he"? Yoshino chuckled at that. "Nope, no he doesn't". She said. Takeshi nodded and nodded to the driver who opened the trunk and placed the suitcases inside. "Well then: Should we get going? Everyone's eager to see you two". Takeshi said, which got a nod from Alec. The Driver opened the doors for them in response. Alec wheeled himself over and pulled himself into back rightmost seat, while Takeshi picked up his wheelchair and folded it up, slipping it into a compartment under the seat and then Yoshino and himself climbed into the limo which immediately made its way across the tarmac and on to the road.

"Asahi, how've you been holding up"? Takeshi asked after a minute, causing Alec to tilt his head. "I've been doing pretty good uncle". Alec said with a small, nonchalant shrug. "No, I mean how are you actually doing"? Takeshi repeated. Alec blinked and stared at him for a minute before he sighed. "Uncle Takeshi, I had this same conversation with my dad. But I'll reiterate: I am RETIRED from Gunpla Battle. And building. I'm done, I'm finished. That's what retired means". Alec said rubbing his face. "But Asahi, you were one of the best, you even one the American internationals-" "And Then everything went down here from there, because of that stupud tournament". Alec snapped, pointing at his legs. "It doesn't matter if my builds were supposedly museum quality artpieces or however they were described. Everything was ruined that day after the tournament." He said crossing his arms and sighed. "I just…can't pick up another kit anymore".

And with that Alec ended the conversation and stared out the window silently. Which turned out to be a bit of a mistake as when they arrived in Tokyo finally the sight of the Life Sized Gundam Unicorn statue, electing a groan from Alec who placed his head in his hands. Japan was the home of Mobile Suit Gundam after all. "Not one word". He said pointing toward Takeshi and Yoshino who simply chuckled. Alec sighed and glared at the statue silently as they drove passed it, heading deeper into the city.

Finally, after nearly an hour, the limo drove into a gravel drive way of a large, traditional style Japanese manor. But it was really only like that on the outside. Takeshi, opened the door and quickly folded Alec's wheelchair open again and helped Alec into it, who sat down with a small grunt, while Yoshino and the driver worked quickly to get the suitcases out, as another woman who looked almost exactly like Yoshino, aside from her hair being a dark brown and her eyes being green. "Aunt Sakura"! Alec said happily and wheeled himself over. Sakura Sakomoto smiled, wearing a normal red and black kimono, she lifted the skirt up and hurried over to meet Alec and hugged him happily. "Asahi! Ah you've grown so big since the last time I saw you"! She said happily, ruffling his hair getting a laugh from the teen.

"I've missed you too Aunt Sakura, its, definitely been too long". Yoshino approached and hugged Sakura. "Shisūta. Gods above its been way too long since I've seen you as well". Sakura said with a small laugh, which got a smile from Yoshino. "Oh! Here let me get you some help with the bags." She said and lifted two up and turned to the door. "Tsukasa! Everyone's here"! She shouted and a young woman in her 20s with dark blue hair walked out wearing a customized maid outfit. "Yoshino-Shukojo, Asahi-kun, its wonderful to see you both". She said with a small smile and lifted two other bags and clapped her hands and two other maids in their early 20s came out to take the rest of the bags. Alec grunted and grabbed his backpack and Sakura pushed him up the ramp and into the house, Alec sliding the door open with a small smile. Truthfully…it was good to be home again.
