Gamer fic, I wanted to make the intro a little more interesting so you'll have to bear with it for a minute before it gets to the Star Wars you remember.
A vibrant red light slowly burnt through a glass pane less than a foot from an unaware face.
The inch thick glass above him was lightly frosted, and it went from his feet to his head. On either side was metal, dark and unforgiving, lit by faint blue lights. A hole in the glass above him was giving way, the blazing red light penetrating into the pristine glass.
Condensation began forming on the inside of the container as cracks formed and it was breached. The condensation started gathering into small wet spots. Right above his head water gathered, starting to get pulled down by gravity but viscously held together, until a single drop peeled away.
As it fell, several miles away a small green creature in a tense meeting quirked an eyebrow. Ignoring the ongoing argument, the creature peered through a window beside it and hummed quietly. It gazed at the city blanketing the planet, thriving and bustling with billions of creatures, then muttered under its breath, "Expanded, our galaxy has…"
As a drop of water hit his nose, he woke with a start.
I never had the opportunity to go through all the stages of grief after dying in a car accident because I was more confused by the screen hovering in the colorless void.
Would you like to start a New Game?
(Yes/No)
The screen had a mostly transparent grey background, with white text and an unoffensive light purple outline. This was the power he had read about in several fanfictions, an opportunity unlike any other.
It wanted me to start off as a blank slate, I could feel it. Even before I pressed yes, I could feel myself dissociating from my past life, people and places I cared about remembered, but put aside as inconsequential.
I reached out an ephemeral hand and pressed yes.
After a moment, a spinning gear replaced the previous screen.
Randomizing your character...
In front of me appeared a full sized mirror, and I could see the reflection of my future self in it. In this new life I would be a guy roughly six feet tall. Short and messy dark brown hair framed my square face, which was pronounced by an abnormally tall nose. More abnormal though were my piercing grey eyes.
Welcome, Mark Antony, to The Game.
There are three intuitive commands to take full advantage of your new power:
"Status" Will open up your status menu, where you can see your health, title, and basic information.
"Inventory" Will open up the inventory menu, where you can add and remove items from storage, including currency.
"Skills" Will allow you to access and interact with your skills, including reading their descriptions, checking their levels, and seeing your acquired perks.
The other information you cannot get from the menus associated with those three commands is as follows:
You gain 5 skill points every level.
Skill points you can use to directly and immediately level up a skill.
Nobody else can see your screens under any circumstances.
(Ok)
I found it annoying that my name was chosen for me, but considering I already didn't know my old name I had no real choice.
I, now known as Mark Antony, was dropped a second later into a place I recognized as Times Square in New York, New York. The city of hopes and dream bustled around me as I took a deep breath in preparation of a new life.

Mark Antony was a Roman General, Administrator, and Triumvirate, and was reborn as a regular person in modern times.
I smiled to myself, "That could be what the story is about, something to do with me being reborn."
"Skills," I called to the crowd a moment later. I could feel peoples eyes on me as I read through my next menu.

I closed out both the screens by waving them away with my hand. All that was left was to test my inventory, and seeing two cops patrolling the edge of the square I had a brilliant idea.
I approached the officers, whispering "Inventory" under my breath.
A box opened, labeled Inventory at the top, with several rows of empty boxes beneath it. I moved the screen to the bottom left of my vision and weaved through the crowd towards them.
I walked behind the one on the right and followed them until they passed by a large group of people. Right as they did, I reached down and hurriedly unclasped his gun. The cop jerked as I pulled his gun away a second before he could grab it.
The cop turned with his eyes wide, seeing his weapon disappear mid air when I threw it in my inventory. He gawked at me for a second, and I tried to turn and hide in the crowd only a second later I felt pain shoot through my body.
I hit the ground as the second officer shot me with his taser, and both the officers immediately dived on me. In seconds I was cuffed and in minutes I was tossed into the back seat of a patrol car.
"Sir, I'm asking just for the record what your name is."
In a typical interrogation room, I sat across from a man in an immaculate suit. He clearly wasn't a normal cop but he seemed too relaxed to be a secret agent.
Joseph Kerry - Secretary of State
Level 19
I stayed silent, content to wait for him to stop talking. Thanks to the perks Gamer's Mind and Gamer's Spirit I wasn't nearly as nervous as I ought to have been, I logically knew they had nothing to convict me on.
He stared at me for a moment, before sighing and standing up.
"We have video footage of you holding a gun moments before it disappeared from existence," he began, my eyes widening, "Weird things like this have happened before, and normally we try to get these kind of things studied and under control, but you have proven particularly annoying."
I bit my lip, but stayed silent. He pinched his nose and went to the door.
"Our researchers have yet to even make conjecture on whatever it was you did, so instead of being able to even try to counteract it, we are forced to pretend you don't exist," he said flippantly.
Opening the door, he had one last thing to say before leaving, "By pretend 'you don't exist,' I mean we're gonna cryogenically freeze you and leave you until we think we can deal with your powers, see you in thirty years."
The door clicked shut behind him, and after silently opening my inventory to see the lone firearm populating a box, I wondered if it was worth it.
Quest failed,
New World
As something filled the room and I started to feel drowsy, I decided it wasn't worth it.
A few minutes later I woke up in what could only have been a cramped cryopod. For a second I was calm as I tried to take in my surrounding, until I saw what was immediately recognizable as a red lightsaber cutting into the glass window a foot in front of my face. The figure holding it wore dark robes and stood with one foot on the ground beside the pod, the other foot on top.
A menu popped up right against the glass.
You have slept for thirty thousands years. HP has been restored to 5%. You have been afflicted with (Bed Sores), (Malnourishment), and (Stiff Joints).
Shocked, I paused a second then raised an arm that I could swear literally creaked with protest, swiping the menu away. Another immediately replaced it.

I furiously dismissed the window, looking at the scene above me.
I made eye contact with the demon for a second, my alive grey eyes meeting his bloodshot red eyes. The figure flinched away, slipping backwards and dropping his lightsaber to stabilize himself with his hand. The blade sliced cleanly through the glass, missing me by mere inches, before spinning and cutting sideways through the wall of the pod.
Then it hit the hydraulics line and immediately the glass shot open, clotheslining the figure hard and sending him to the ground. The lightsaber deactivated and was launched into the distance.
I trembled as I forced myself to sit up, then after a deep breath I shakily climbed out of the pod. My arms and legs screamed in protest as I flopped over the side and fell to the ground.
Just a few feet away from me was the figure, clothed in all black and even in the darkness I couldn't miss his face. He had red skin with black markings around his eyes and mouth, demonic horns jutting out of his skull. He sneered with more arrogance than I thought possible with a broken and bloodied nose.
Darth Maul - Sith Lord
Level ?
A viscous black liquid trailed down his face, coming out of his nose and mouth. The surprise door opening must have broken something.
"Inventory," I hoarsely called out. The familiar grid appeared in front of me, and I reached carefully into the lone occupied box. I pulled out a gun, the twelve bullet sidearm that got me into this damn situation in the first place, and dismissed the menu.
I maneuvered myself onto my knees and took aim at the prone figure, whose sneering face widened with fear as he realized I was armed. He struggled and tried to stumble to his feet before I opened fire.
The pistol barked once... twice… five times… twelve times, then slipped from my limp hands.
You have levelled up!
You have levelled...
You…
…
I blacked out.
Thats a wrap for the prologue. Just establishing a basic understanding of the game, some early hijinks, and an early level spike in power in an unfamiliar world.
This is kinda wish fulfillment, but if you have any advice, questions, criticism or concerns, just message me.
