Rey remembered starting to walk...then darkness.

Rey's eyes fluttered open, to find herself inside of a medical bay ship. These were usually called in case of emergencies. In the last decade or so, Rey learned from others in the surrounding village that this became a more common practice, and these tiny ships would drive around all day, ready with doctors, and medical droids in case anyone was hurt. Her eyes took a second to adjust to the light, before looking around at the inside, seeing cold sterilized metal, as well as supplies. When her eyes looked over, she saw BB8 on the floor, watching her before giving a worried beep. He told her he had found her collapsed on the ground bleeding, and had called for a nearby medical ship to come pick her up. The second Rey heard blood, her eyes went straight to herself, but saw there was a plastic barrier set up around her lower waist, blocking off any view she had of her lower body. Her huge pregnant stomach stuck out perfectly, as she let out a frightened low cry deep in her throat. She saw two different IVS hooked up to her hand, and she suddenly knew that she was numb from the waist down. Her mind told her to try and move her legs, or even wiggle her toes, but nothing happened. No sensation, nothing. She felt paralyzed, and her heart began to hammer in her chest. That's when the doctor, a kind looking older man walked over.

"Rey Skywalker?"

Rey looked up, hating that frightened tears were starting to fill her eyes.

"Where am I? Why can't I feel my legs? Is my baby..."

Before she could ask the next question, her voice cracking, as she began to cry. The doctor calmly walked over, and gently gave her hand a squeeze. After months of being alone with just BB8, it was nice to have some human contact. His hand was dry and smooth, as he stared down.

"Your droid altered us that there was an emergency. It appears your water broke and you went into labor."

"Why can't I feel my legs?!"

"Just a medication we used. I had to examine you. We're going to try and see if you can push. I've been monitoring you closely. I think you're just about there."

"Why can't we go to the village?"

"It appears there was another bombing. Nothing too serious from what I heard. Barley anyone got hurt, but the entire area is closed off for the time being. Not even medical ships are allowed in. Trust me Rey, the inside of this ship is exactly what the inside of an operating room would be like in the village. I've delivered dozens of babies inside here."

Suddenly everything was going too fast. Rey didn't feel ready even though she was at the end of her pregnancy. She suddenly wanted somebody with her. Let it be Finn, Poe, or Chewie. She knew she could try and summon Luke or Leia, but she figured trying to reach out to them right now wouldn't be smart since she might lose her strength for delivering the baby. She was scared out of her mind, thinking of the millions of things that could go wrong. Now here she was, still a virgin, ready to give birth to her child...and all the while wishing so badly things had gone differently, and she had Ben with her. Looking up at the ceiling, she gulped before nodding.

"Okay..."

"You're lucky. You were asleep for most of your labor, this shouldn't take long..."

"What about the bleeding? BB8 said when he found me I was bleeding."

"The funny thing about blood is sometimes a little...looks like a lot. Trust me Rey, you're fine. Pregnant women sometimes bleed a little after their water breaks. Just a sign of your body getting ready to deliver this baby."

The doctor then switched on a screen right beside her, where she could see a fuzzy image of her baby inside of her. Only twice through her pregnancy had she gotten these scans done, refusing the entire time to find out the gender of it. Instead, she planned on being surprised. Looking at the baby move around inside of her, she smiled through her worried tears and gently placed her fingertips against the screen. The doctor then hit another switch before the steady thumping filled the room.

"Baby's heartbeat is strong. I think we're ready."

Rey smiled looking at the screen one last time.

She sighed before the doctor switched the screen off, showing her how they were able to get the scan by a sensor built above her. Turning to scrub and glove up, he went about his business before Rey glanced at BB8 and forced a smile even though she was scared.

"Would you like me to contact the father before we begin?"

Rey sighed, feeling that same ache in her chest, before shaking her head as the doctor walked over, hands held up high, now wearing gloves and a mask.

"No...he died."

"I'm very sorry."

Rey nodded before the doctor sat on a stool, and disappeared at the other end, blocked slightly off by the plastic barrier.

"Okay Rey..."

Rey felt the bed start to move, as the upper half began to rise, almost putting her in a slight sitting position. She still couldn't see much but saw the doctor now working between her two spread legs which were locked in by two stirrups.

"Okay Rey, I need you to remember to breathe. Deep breaths in and out. Listen to my voice and your baby will be out before we know it."

Feeling grateful she couldn't see much, she nodded before staring straight ahead. She thought back on the last few years, and the number of times she fought not only for herself, but for the galaxy, as well as her friends and her own life. She had fought, battled, and defeated. Thinking of the night Ben died, she closed her eyes for a second, thinking of all the past Jedi, wishing so badly she could hear their voices, but she knew in becoming a mother, she would have to use her own strength. She wished Ben was here, squeezing her hand, and looking over at the doctor nervously. She summoned his face, staring at her, pale, and handsome, before she thought back to him smiling. It was here she had fallen in love with him. Knowing she could do this for not just herself, but for Ben, she took a deep breath before the doctor told her to bare down and push. Snapping her eyes tightly, she leaned forward and bore down pushing with all her might, Despite the fact she had been numb, she did feel slight pain, as she focused on pushing her baby out of her womb. leaned forward, face flushing as she pushed as hard as she could.

45 minutes later.

Rey could feel everything. No longer numb, her hair in sweaty messy strings, plastered against her flushed, and exhausted face, she collapsed back before letting out a frustrated sob. For the last hour the doctor had been frantically trying to deliver the baby as Rey pushed, and pushed, and pushed. She followed his directions, and breathed deeply. At some point she started to scream, grasping onto anything, she laid back, tears of frustration in her eyes as the doctor, who looked exhausted himself, looked up and shook his head.

"Why isn't the baby coming out?!"

The doctor sighed.

"It's in the birth canal. I was afraid of how small you are Rey that this would happen. The cord is starting to wrap around the baby's neck and slow its heartbeat down. You've been working so hard, but it doesn't seem to want to come. You're exhausted and I'm afraid both you and the baby are in distress. I'm going to give you another medication and we're going to have surgery to take your baby out. He'll be out in two minutes if you agree."

Rey, angry with herself sat there for a second, thinking if Ben was here he would have told the doctor she could do it, and continue holding her hand as she worked through the pain and bore down, pushing with all of her might. Instead she was alone, left to make this choice all alone. It wasn't fair. Her mind was spinning in a million different directions. How could she have used force to defeat that monster, hearing the names of the lost Jedi, while after everything was said and done, the New Order defeated, where it left her totally alone. Ben died, and she was left pregnant, unable to reach him, and frightened. She then thought of her baby, and how if she even waited a moment longer...something terrible might happen.

She knew she couldn't live with herself if something happened to Ben's baby. She would never forgive herself. Taking a deep breath, she nodded.

"Okay, let's do it...quickly."

The doctor nodded, and went to her IV bag, injecting a new syringe, before he took an oxygen mask, and placed it over Rey's face. It slightly fogged up, as she glanced at the screen, trying to figure out if she could still hear the baby's heartbeat. She watched with frightened eyes as the doctor worked quickly, lowering her legs, before taking away the barrier, and laying down sheeting with a square that laid perfectly over her huge stomach. She watched as he injected her straight in the stomach with two different colored syringes, instantly making her entire body feel numb. She took a deep breath, before the doctor stared down with kind eyes.

"Just look up and breathe, you'll be fine, don't watch. Just breathe and when you wake up your baby will be here."

Rey breathed slowly, before she saw the scalpel, and her scared eyes went off to the side. That's when she saw him. Standing off to the side, dressed exactly as he was the day he died. He was standing next to BB8, his face pale and eager. He looked at her, and suddenly everything seemed okay. His eyes were calm, and strong. Without even speaking, he nodded at her, showing that everything was okay. Slowly, her vision blurred and darkness took over.

Elsewhere...

Rey was back home, at the farm. She was walking down one of the tunnels down below through one of the living areas. Softly she heard singing. She looked at herself, and saw she was no longer pregnant. Her hands slid down against her flat stomach. Confused, she slowly kept walking, while softly hearing what sounded like singing. She turned to the left, and entered the nursery, set up exactly as she had left it. Instead she froze. Ben stood there, again dressed in his black clothes, with his beautiful shoulder length black hair. In his arms, wrapped up in a blanket was a baby. Their baby. He was slowly walking back and forth, the baby peacefully sleeping up against his chest as he gently rubbed it's back and continued singing, surprising Rey that he actually had a pretty decent singing voice, low but comforting. She didn't know the song, but it was beautiful. Stopping in the doorway, she watched, feeling an ache in the chest as she watched him gently sway, holding the baby, holding on, before kissing it on the head softly. Standing there, Rey's heart hammered in her chest watching him. Ben turned, and stared at her sadly, still holding the baby, tears in his eyes.

"I'm so sorry Rey...I wish I could stay...I wasted so much time, and now I can't be with you two..."

Rey stepped forward, walking towards him. She stopped, less than a few inches from him. She could smell his scent, the same scent she inhaled deeply from the clothes she kept, the same clothes he wore right before her. She looked at the tiny baby, and couldn't believe how tiny and perfect it was. It was sleeping right against Ben's chest.

"She's beautiful...perfect just like you."

Rey's eyes widened as she smiled through her tears.

"It's...a girl?"

Ben smiled as Rey leaned forward, very gently and carefully touching the baby's tiny soft skin. The baby didn't stir, instead continued sleeping. Staring at her, she couldn't believe it. This was their baby, part him...part her. The same baby Ben had placed inside of her when he put his hand against her stomach, transferring his life force into her. The baby she wished so badly had been conceived the natural way. Just by staring at her tiny sleeping face, seeing underneath the little knit cap she wore, she had dark hair like him. She looked just like Ben. That's when it hit her, back when she used to train with Leia, she remembered her softly humming sometimes the same song. She now knew this was the same song Ben had heard as a child. Raising her eyes, so close to him, she stared up at him as he stared down. Instantly she couldn't take it any longer, she stood on her tip toes and deeply kissed him. Closing her eyes she kissed as hard as she could, making sure she didn't squish the sleeping baby between them. Ben closed his eyes, and moaned as they frantically started kissing.

Rey opened her eyes. She felt groggy, and being ripped from that vivid wonderful dream made her heart ache even more. She was in bed, sitting up, still hooked up to different machines, hearing beeping as the two IVS hooked up to her dripped. She felt sore, mostly in her stomach. She was wearing a hospital gown, and BB8 was rolling back and forth right beside her. Glancing down, she weakly smiled, when she saw the doctor approach, holding a little bundle wrapped up.

"How are you Rey?"

Rey blinked, before looking down at herself.

"Sore...is that..."

The doctor smiled.

"You have a beautiful daughter Rey. 7 pounds, two ounces. You did fine."

He carefully handed the baby into her arms. Rey felt scared, but instead somehow knew how to support her tiny little head. She couldn't believe it. The baby looked exactly as she did in her dream. Wrapped up in a blanket with a knit cap. Staring down in complete and utter amazement, she laughed feeling tears fill her eyes, staring down. The baby didn't stir, or even cry. Laughing, Rey couldn't believe this was the same baby that kicked and move inside of her late at night. Leaning down, she smelled her, and couldn't believe it. She smelled just like Ben. Rey saw the doctor watching, and instantly she laughed.

"She smells good..."

The doctor smiled.

"Yeah she does, doesn't she? So, you got a name for this little one?"

Rey stared down in complete amazement, before nodding.

"Solo."

The doctor raised an eyebrow.

"Solo?"

Rey didn't take her eyes off the baby before nodding and smiling.

"Yeah...Solo...and she looks exactly as I dreamed."
