Shaking the dust and ash off of his scales, Toothless glared at Falcon with playful hatred, while the younger dragon just burst out laughing his tail off, closesly followed by the two girls, with Lea even allowing a chuckle of his own to escape his normally stoic expression. "Two-zero to the bird boy." Eclipse laughed, scratching another line into the dirt. Regaining his composure, Falcon smirked cockily at Toothless, puffing out his chest.
"I'm going easy on you." Smiled the male. Falcon chuckled, rebuttling.
"I'm kicking your tail. Round three." Falcon lowered himself into a pounce, then broke his battle-stance to adopt a look of confusion as Toothless didn't prepare for the next round. "Hah, you giving up?" He questioned. Toothless simply shook his head, smirking at Falcon before replying with a tone heavy in smugness.
"No, I'm not. I'm just getting ready to destroy you." He smiled innocently, shifting his body into a defensive pose, he closed his eyes and waited. His sensors flicked at every slight movement Falcon made, the alpha knowing where his opponent was without even needing to look. Falcon lunged, and Toothless flawlessly dodged to the side, and in a quick succession, rammed into Falcon's left flank without once opening his eyes. Dragons didn't need their sight to fight, unlike humans, and being an alpha meant his senses were much higher atuned than those of his opponent.
"Damnit." He growled. "Lucky guess." He leaped into the air, preparing to dive bomb the Nightfury alpha, only for Toothless to once again avoid the encounter and wack his tail against the twins head; without a delay, Falcon lunged at Toothless, only to get wacked aside by the alpha's wing, then feel the scorching heat of a plasma blast roll of his scales as Toothless barely missed his mark. Growling, he lunged at Toothless a second time, side-dodging the second plasma blast mere seconds away from impact and grabbing Toothless with his forelegs; the older male however, wasn't even close to losing, using the momentum and his own weight and strength, he quickly managed to slam Falcon onto the ground and claim victory.
He hopped off the younger male with a smug smirk plastered onto his features. As 'bird-boy' shook himself off, they all gathered around Toothless impressed with what they had just witnessed. "How'd you beat him without even looking? That's quite a skill."
"I had a friend back at my old nest, he was blind, but he could fight just as good as any other dragon who wasn't blind. He taught me how. Honestly, I'm still learning, and I think being an Alpha does give me somewhat of an advantage."
"Probably, but still, that's quite impressive, to fight using your sensors." Toothless shrugged.
"It's really not all THAT impressive. It's alot easier than you realise for us dragons. Now, humans, on the other hand.. When a blind human can fight like that and win, now that's when it's truly impressive."
"You speaking from experience?" Autumn growled.
"In a matter of speaking, I've had more than my fair share on encounters with humans. Never actually ran into a blind one - that I had to fight atleast, but their senses are nowhere near ours. You have no idea how easy it is to sneak up on them." Toothless did his best not to reflect on the memories of his humans companions, lest he be hated by his own kind and his new friends.
"Say, Toothless, what's your flock like? Are there more Nightfuries?" It was Lea, of them all, who was actually showing an interest in him.
"Toothless, how hard did you hit me in the head? I swear I just heard Lea actually trying to get to know something about you." Falcon laughed, earning a glare from Lea which went ignored.
"No, I was the only Nightfury in the flock. You guys are the only other Nightfuries I've ever found. Until Eclipse found me, I genuinely thought I was the last of my kind. It's mainly a flock of the more common species to find wandering the skies. Nadder's, Nightmares, Zipplebacks, and that. My beta, and probably the new Alpha, was a Stormcutter, and we had a Rumblehorn admist us as well, sometimes we'd all be visited by a Whispering Death - who used to be my worst enemy - and a Skrill, Athork, and Razorwhip." Toothless wouldn't deny something always felt off about Athork whenever the Skrill visited, and honestly, he was so relieved when the dragon stopped coming to Berk.
There was always something striking him as untrustworthy about the Lightning dragon, the way Athork looked around the island, as if he was always subconsciously testing it's defenders. It was similar with the Whispering Death, something always struck him as an underlying treachery waiting to happen whenever the Silent-Eater 'visited' even if she was loyal to Alvin.
"Hmm, I've always wondered if there were other Nightfuries beyond the borders of Nïghtheart, still surviving after what happened. How'd you survive?" Toothless shrugged, not even knowing what Lea was talking about. Most definitely something before the time of the Queen, something that was forgotten to him.
"I don't know, I don't even remember what you're talking about. Anything before the time I was enslaved by the Queen I can't remember, not my family, my parents, my birthday's, nothing."
"Oh, that's rough." Toothless shrugged, having grown accustomed to the blurred memory of his Pre-Queen life, and infact, even liking that he couldn't remember anything before the Queen.
"It's nothing, it doesn't really bother me that much anymore, I've not really cared that much to learn my past."
"Say, Toothless, can I talk with you in private?" Lea grumbled, beckoning him away from the group. Toothless nodded and made his way over to Lea, the others moving in the opposite direction to give them more space.
"What is it?" He tilted his head slightly, sensors flopping idly as he did so.
"What were you two actually doing in the Cove last night?" Lea growled, though did his best to bite back his anger. He'd only lash out if given reason - a promise he made to himself.
"Nothing, honestly, it's innocent." By the way Lea delivered the question, Toothless knew what he was suggesting, and his confirmation was the relieved sigh. "We were just messing around and having a water fight really."
"As long as nothing else happened."
"Nothing did, I promise you. Nothing ever has, and ever will happen to Eclipse." It wasn't hard to notice he was only concerned about his little sister. Despite being on more friendly and peaceful grounds, Toothless knew Lea could not care less about what happened to him.
It was a protective instinct he found himself adopting for Hiccup. Draco how he missed Berk. Despite being so far away, he could still feel in his gut that Berk wasn't in any danger without him there, and he trusted that Stormfly, Cloudjumper and the others could keep the flock in check in his supposed death. He wondered often about the female Nadder, how she had coped with him. He was never blind to her feelings, never blind to her emotions but he never reciporcated them.
He never truly connected on such a level with any dragon back at Berk. Windshear, she was possibly the only dragon he had developed some level of emotion for, though he had not seen her after the Battle of Berzerk island. Speaking of that battle, he often wondered what became of Krogan and Johann. He never saw Krogan during the War with Drago.
"Anything else?"
"Yeah, actually.. I want to know something.."
"What?"
"What's the world like? Beyond the borders of Nïghtheart? Are there many dragons left? Or is our time in Midgard closing for all kinds?" Toothless shook his head with a reassuring smile.
"Oh Draco no, we dragons are here to stay. There's alot of breeds still out there, but us Nightfuries? I don't know if there are any more out there. Your the first Nightfuries I've seen in... God's know how long." He sighed, then asked after a few seconds. "Can I ask you something?"
"Hmm?"
"What can you tell me about Harpy?" Lea instantly tensed at the mention of her. His face dropped slightly as he had an internal debate with himself.
"Harpy?... She's... She's a good girl deep down. She's just, gone through alot of terrible things. I don't know what Eclipse or any of the others have told you about her but, she is genuinely a good girl.. If you ever get able to see her Firesoul when she's not shielding it, you'll know.."
"She seems to have it in for me. Really wants me gone off this island."
"Yeah, it's... It's complicated Toothless. Look she's a good girl but even I'll say you should try to avoid her if you can, atleast for now. She's got a vendetta against basically any Nightfury who hasn't been on this island basically since the day they hatched.
"Yeah, but she's accusing me of things I ain't done."
"Like I said, it's complicated and really not my place to talk about her past. That poor girl relies on me to keep her level-headed.. Otherwise I dread to think what would happen. She ain't no pushover thats for sure... She can fight.. God's she can fight..." Lea shuddered, though his voice sported admiration in the comment. Toothless flicked a sensor in intrigue, but otherwise ended the topic there.
If Lea and Eclipse said to avoid Harpy, he'd do just that. No reason to go looking for trouble. "Anyway, thats, all. Just, keep an eye on Eclipse for me, and I'll keep Harpy from trying to kill you. Oh, and, sorry for the way I treated you when we first met."
Toothless shook his head as if to say 'no sorry needed' "No, you aint gotta apologise, you were protecting your little sister. I would've been the same. Don't worry about it. "Oh and that would be preferable, not letting Harpy kill me." He smiled thankfully. "You have my word, Eclipse will be fine."
"We cool?"
"So cool."
"Good... Now, if you'll excuse me, I must report to the Alpha. Oh and, by the way, I'm pretty sure birdboy just added another point onto his score." He commented loud enough for Falcon to hear. "
"LEA! You snitch." Lea chuckled softly before spreading his wings and taking to the sky. Toothless laughed as he made his way back over to the other three.
"So, you ready to lose again?"
