Prompt: Over 1,501 words, a fic that explores trauma, Bianca, Melody, Cover, Lost in a maze,
Trapped
Fear circled inside of Bianca as she did her best to keep calm while holding the younger girl closer to her. Glancing down at the shaking girl who seemed to be close to a panic attack Bianca made sure that her favourite green hat was not only covering the top of her head but it covered her ears and eyes too. For one so young she had already seen too much.
"Everything is going to be alright Melody," Bianca whispered ever so softly as her eyes returned back to looking over the large wooden box that was giving them cover. Sirens and alarms rang out loud as the whole building turned red, reminding the older Pokémon trainer just why she was not letting her own or Melody's Pokémon out of their Pokeballs or why she was not looking behind her.
Blue eyes did their best to watch the Grunts run backwards and forwards in front of them as if they were lost in a maze through her cracked red framed glasses. Her heart pounded hard in her chest as she watched in double the Grunts ran right past them both, without a second look all the while shouting words Bianca could not hear over the loud sounds of the multiple alarms going off within the building. Taking a deep breath to prevent herself from falling apart Bianca tightened her arms around Melody and leaned forwards, doing her best to ignore the painful wounds covering her body from what her mind was already doing to blank out her mind.
'I have to find a way out here, if not for myself then for Melody and our Pokémon. I cannot let them all into the hands of this lot...I dread to think about what might happen to them.' Bianca thought as she gathered her courage together and began to use her brain to formulate a plan. 'Melody and I are sitting ducks right now, neither of us can move very far at a fast pace, were both injured and all this fuss is because everyone is looking for us...we need help.'
"Bianca...we are not going to make it out of here alive are we?" Melody said her voice in a soft whisper while what had once been a beautiful traditional Orange Island dress was now dyed in red, a mixture of hers and Bianca's blood. "We need someone to help us...we need a hero."
'We do but I do not think that one will becoming for us any time soon and with my job as a travelling Pokémon Professor assistant the only one that they might send a search party out for is Melody.' Bianca thought as she watched the busy hallway slowly begin to empty as the search for them slowly came to an end. 'It looks like they are giving up and moving on to look in a different area for us...if I remember right there should be a backdoor out of here if we just continue going straight forwards.'
As the last few Grunts ran out of the area Bianca bit down on her lip hard, ignoring the extreme pain from the horrid wounds on her back, and in doing so pulling Melody up into a standing position with her. Scared yet aged eyes looked up at her as Bianca forced herself to give Melody a comforting smile before using her body to silently guide the other girl out of their hiding spot as they made their way towards freedom.
One step at a time.
'We can do this, we can do this,' Bianca repeatedly thought in her mind as both of them slowly inched through the hallway and farther away from the horrifying blood red scene that they were overly happily to leave behind. Bianca's mind whirled with fear as every situation played out within her mind while using the difficulty to see from her broken glasses to help keep her head in reality and guide them both towards the backdoor.
"W-when we get outside...can we let our Pokémon out?" Melody asked as she kept Bianca's green hat over her head and eyes. "I have a SlowKing; he can use the move teleport. SlowKing should be able to get us to the closest PokeCentre where we could get help."
Opening her mouth slightly to try and return the question with a verbal reply of her own Bianca found her mouth close by itself and her vocal cords clamp shut. Doing her best Bianca let out a hum of agreement while ignoring the growing panic at the lack of words that was now coming out of her mouth. Her own personal trauma and any side effects could wait until both of them were in a safe area and Melody and their Pokémon would be safe and protected.
"We...I can smell the air...it's changing slowly," Melody said softly as they continued to inch slowly forwards. At Bianca's agreeing hum sound and the sound their feet made against the ground that they walked on Melody tightened her grip on Bianca. "We are getting there...slowly but we are getting there. As soon as we are outside SlowKing is coming out of his Pokeball and taking us to safety."
Exhaustion, fear, pain and uncertainty filled Bianca causing her to keep her own feelings of hope to the side. Bianca did not want to raise their spirits, she didn't know what she would do if this was not the way out like she thought, she did not know what would happen if this escape attempt failed...yes she did. If this escape attempt failed for her she would give Melody her own Pokémon and make sure they all got to freedom while giving up her life for them.
"The wind, I feel wind on my face!" Melody's whispered but happy voice said as she raised one hand upwards to lift Bianca's green hand slightly so she could take a peek out from the safety of the hat only to let out a small smile at the sight of the door that was left open. "As soon as possible I think a shower is on the cards for us!"
Bianca let out her another hum of agreement, unable to find the energy within her body to even bother to talk, let alone worry about talking. With each step that they got to the safety of the exit emotions bubbled about inside both Bianca and Melody, the different sounds on the floor alerting them to their progress as they safely moved without a single Grunt stumping across them.
"I can smell fresh air...fresh air...not air stained with the smell of pain and injuries," Melody spoke, the hope slipping into her voice with each step they took.
As the pair got to the open backdoor both of them let out a small smile on their faces. As one they took a deep breath and placed their first footstep off of the cold metal flooring and onto the fresh untouched grass in the wide open natural space which was soon followed by another footstep and another and another. As the continued sound of grass underneath their feet continued to reach their ears Bianca and Melody came to a stop while allowing their shaking bodies to take in what they had just achieved.
"We made it!" Melody said happily as she heard the sound of grass under her feet. Lifting Bianca's green hat up off of her eyes but keeping it on her head Melody turned a relieved smile towards Bianca only to freeze and stare as she finally got a good look at the older trainer. "Do not worry Bianca, you have done your half, you got us out of that horrible place, now let me do my part just as I promised."
With a trusting look Bianca nodded her head through she kept a protective hold on Melody. Melody, understanding Bianca's emotions simply took a deep breath and carefully pulled out the Pokeball that held her faithful SlowKing. Without any words being said Melody called out SlowKing only for the Pokémon's calm and wise expression to vanish as it took in the sight of his trainer and the older female who was holding her in a protective embrace.
"Slow...Slow slow SlowKing," the Pokémon said with a frown as he reached out and took a handful of clothing from each girl in each of his hands. Closing his eyes SlowKing activated his teleport attack, this time using it to take his Pokémon trainer and her fellow human to the closest hospital. There was only one plan in SlowKing's mind for the two female humans in front of him, a hospital, proper medical care and their Pokémon protecting them.
End of Prompt.
