3. Robot Smackdown at the Entrance Exam

(I made a minor edit to Izuku's transformation (it won't change much but I just changed my mind on what kinds of categories could be altered by dice). He didn't add dice to his confidence levels, he just got more confident on his own when he got faster and stronger. Enjoy the chapter! :) )

That night, Izuku had trouble sleeping. There were a lot of things on his mind, but after what happened with Bakugo, he would've preferred to just pass out in bed.

Regret, confusion, and an overwhelming amount of sadness overcame him every time he thought about the quest. About his apparent desire. He looked down at his hand and then brought it up to the palid moonlight from the window. His knuckles were no longer badly bruised from the punch, they even seemed to tingle a little when he thought about the fight. As if his own body wanted him to do it again. Izuku frowned and shoved his arm back under the covers quickly, trying to ignore the feeling.

"What am I doing?" He mumbled quietly, turning over on his side and pressing his cheek into the pillow. Heroes didn't fight people. Did they? Izuku glanced up again, but this time fixed his eyes onto the All Might poster on the ceiling. His idol's smiling face was shrouded in shadows, appearing more ominous than reassuring. Izuku quickly looked away and squeezed his eyes shut, opening them only when his phone vibrated on the dresser.

i'm still mad u didn't take my quest. isn't that what u wanted?

Then X sent another message.

u could have gotten a very special dice ;)

Izuku sat up suddenly. "That's, right! I almost forgot all about it. What was that dice, X?" He had been so busy thinking about his confrontation with Bakugo, that the new die had gone over his head.

maybe i shouldn't tell u. clearly it wasn't important enough for u to find out about :P

Damnitt Kacchan, Izuku furrowed his brows. Even though he hadn't done anything directly, he still managed a way to mess up Izuku's plans. No matter how hard he tried to avoid him.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to ignore it… I just…" he shook his head and stared down at his phone. "Please tell me."

well, i won't go into too many details just yet… but i guess it's only fair that i tell u what it can do. hehe.

[X sent an image]

Izuku downloaded the file and stared at the dice on the screen. There it was again, with those strange-looking question marks on each side where there should have been dots instead.

the dice you've been using up until now allowed u to level up different parts of yourself. but this dice is special ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

ask me why… come on, i know u wanna do it ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Izuku suppressed the urge to roll his eyes, an annoyed smile on his lips. Sometimes X acted like such a child. He made everything into a game. Other times though, other times he was kind of creepy.

"Why?"

remember when i said the dice would help u get a quirk?

"Yeah… by making me super fast and stuff," Izuku clicked on his stats.

that's not all they can do ;)

this special die changes things beyond human capabilities. it can, quite literally, give u a quirk.

"Wait, what?" Izuku nearly fell out of bed. Was X trolling him again? He liked to do that a lot. "What are you talking about? I thought… I thought that…" He shook his head. X had never mentioned any of this stuff before. Izuku narrowed his gaze at the screen.

hahahahaha as much as i'd love to mess with u and say i was kidding, i'm being serious. if u complete the quest that accompanies this dice, u can unlock a superhuman ability, a quirk.

Izuku stayed on the floor for a while, processing this information. Even though he had been content with the power X had given him so far, he couldn't help but wonder what would have happened if…

"If I had just punched Kacchan," Izuku curled his hands into fists. "If I had just punched Kacchan in the face I could've…" his voice trailed off and Izuku felt sick again. He scrambled to grab his phone from where he had left it on the bed.

"Why- why didn't you say any of this stuff before, X? Why didn't you tell me?"

Not that it would have changed anything. Well, maybe, but X's answer was simple and infuriating.

cuz u never asked, duh.

Izuku let the phone fall from his hands again as he focused on a random part of the ground, staring at it until his eyes burned.

not so fun keeping secrets now, is it, midori?

"You know why I haven't told anyone, X," Izuku glanced over at his phone after rubbing his tired eyes. Izuku was well aware of the kind of powers X's dice possessed. And should they fall into the wrong hands… Izuku shivered and shook his head. He couldn't imagine a villain ever finding a die. Would X let them play too? Not to mention the amount of explaining he would have to do to the authorities or anybody who found out about it. He still didn't get the fundamentals of Dice either.

And of course, there was a part of him that just didn't want people to find out his secret. So that they could go back to calling him a useless Deku, knowing he wasn't capable of accomplishing the things he had on his own. Even if deep down, he knew their opinions didn't matter in the long run, even if he shouldn't let their words get to him, Izuku didn't want to let this opportunity go. It was the first time he had felt accepted in a society where he never fit in. Was that so bad?

Izuku let his mind wander until he couldn't keep his eyes open anymore. He should really get to bed; it was almost 3 AM and he needed to wake up in a couple of hours. Except even though his body was tired, every time he gave in to sleep, his own thoughts would wake him back up. A vicious cycle that continued for over an hour.

The clock read 4 AM. He was restless now, going back and thinking about all the possible implications of this new dice. If he had thought X's quirk was powerful before, he wasn't sure what to make of it now. Was it really a quirk then? The ability to give other people abilities, to hack into their phones and find out everything about them, to oversee the world like some kind of god.

God never plays dice.

It was something X told him a while ago. But if X wasn't a god, if he wasn't a hero or a villain either, what was he?

"I'm going to bed. Goodnight X." Izuku got up and crawled back into bed. He stared at his phone for a while before powering it off completely. It wasn't something he did a lot because X would get mad at him for it, but he wanted some peace of mind tonight. As much as he wanted to ask X about the kinds of abilities he was referring to, Izuku figured it was in his best interest to worry about them after the exam. So, he closed his eyes and tried to sleep.

Even though he almost overslept, Izuku made it to U.A on time. He bounded from his seat on the bus at the stop and ran all the way to the entrance. Although when he looked up at the arch that separated him from the school, he skidded to a halt.

U.A. High… I'm finally here, Izuku felt a chill run through him. While he hadn't been accepted just yet, he never thought he'd make it this far. Hell, he never thought he would even be alive. Izuku laughed darkly to himself, taking out his phone and snapping a photo to send to his mother. X texted him right away.

oooh, wow. the peeps here look pretty powerful and dangerous. maybe i should have given u the new dice yesterday. hmm. what will u do now, hero? i'm dying to know ;)

"If you're just going to taunt me, then I'll turn off my phone again," Izuku said with an eye roll. He didn't want to deal with X right now. He had to focus, watching as kids of all shapes and sizes went inside the building. There had to be a hundred, no a thousand, taking the test today. A part of him also searched for Kacchan, his heart rate accelerating every time a crop of blonde hair appeared throughout the crowd. Not that he wanted to see him again, he wouldn't put it past the guy to try and go after him during the exam itself.

hey without me you probably would've already tripped on your own two feet or something :P

Izuku sighed and stared down at the first-ever dice he had received from X. The one from that day on the roof. He had made it into a keychain and attached it to his phone, a reminder of his new life. "You're right," he mumbled, before rushing up the stairs. This was his moment. It was time to prove everybody wrong. "That's why this time I'm not going to let anyone get in my way."

"Hey, cool keychain!" a soft voice broke him out of his thoughts. Izuku watched as a girl rushed past him. She had short brown hair and cute pink dots on her cheeks.

"Ah, th-thanks!" he called out, feeling his cheeks redden slightly. If it hadn't been for his fast reactions, he would have totally tripped on the next step as he watched her disappear inside.

what was that about not letting anyone get in your way? ;)

Izuku turned even redder as he glared down at his phone. "Shut up."

"What's up everybody?! It's your favorite DJ hero, Present Mic here. Thanks for tuning in to today's broadcast… let me hear ya say hey..!"

As soon as Present Mic appeared onstage, Izuku couldn't help himself.

"HEY!" He shouted as loudly as possible, waving his hands up in the air. A few people laughed at him but mostly gave him weird stares. Izuku ignored them all. He was too excited to care.

Present Mic flashed him a grateful smile and put two thumbs up in the air. "Now that's what I like to hear. Let's get this party started!"

"I can't believe I just did that," Izuku muttered to himself, cheeks flushed, adrenaline still coursing through him. Not only was he starstruck that Present Mic had acknowledged him, but the things he was comfortable with doing now still never failed to surprise him. It still seemed unreal, especially since he had only started using dice just 3 months ago.

i can't believe you did that either. chill out dude, the exam hasn't even started :P

Izuku narrowed his eyes at the screen while he lowered the brightness. Still, the smile on his face remained throughout Mic's whole presentation. He didn't even feel annoyed that X was texting him weird memes about his face photoshopped on a piece of broccoli.

Still, Izuku felt a little nervous while he analyzed the robots on the screen. He stared down at his fist and clenched it slightly, trying to imagine his tiny hands taking down the metallic beasts from the exam. Izuku had added dice to his overall Strength and practiced punching down at Takoba Beach, the only place he could get away with breaking things because well if they were there, they were already broken. But he was still nervous about actually fighting a moving object that was programmed with the intent of killing him or at least hurting him really, really bad.

"Excuse me! I have a question, sir," a voice below him cried out.

Izuku stopped looking at his hand and peered over at the boy with the cream-colored suit and slick back blue hair. He looked really fancy, so Izuku figured he was from some kind of private academy or something. Mic looked over too and grinned. "Hit me!"

"With all due respect, on the printout we were given, there are four robots, not three. I just cannot stand by and let this error go unnoticed considering the prestige of U.A… we are exemplary students and expect only the best from such an institution."

That's right… Izuku looked back down at the paper in his hands. Aside from assigning him a Battle Center and ID number, there was also a picture of each robot.

u think he's got a dice shoved up his ass or something? talk about annoying _

"He does have a point," Izuku mumbled, trying not to smile at X's snarky comment. But then the boy whipped his head around and pointed at him.

"And you, with the hair that oddly resembles a piece of broccoli," he frowned. Izuku gulped and met his gaze, offering him a small smile. "You've been texting throughout the entire presentation. Have you no shame? If you aren't going to take this exam seriously, then you might as well leave," he finished by giving him a harsh glare and then turned back around.

Izuku felt his entire face go red while the others snickered around him. He didn't even hear Present Mic's explanation about the final robot, while he stared at the back of the boy's head.

"Thanks a lot, X," Izuku grumbled while he sank further down into his seat, all initial levels of confidence and excitement sinking down with him. X almost immediately sent him a message.

good luck hero ^^

It seemed like almost an eternity had passed after that boy called Izuku out. So when they finally got to board the buses that would take them to their battlegrounds, he felt relieved. More importantly, he had built back up his excitement while getting dressed. He would just have to be more careful with his phone from now on, especially when he realized he was in the same group as the guy from earlier. When Izuku stepped off the bus, he made sure to avoid him entirely, walking towards the other side of the waiting area with the other hopeful students. Among the crowd was the girl from before. Izuku stopped slightly and watched her.

ugh. how long are u going to keep staring at her ass?

Izuku almost dropped his phone. "I was not!" he whisper-shrieked, making a mental note to keep his eyes above her neck.

sure, sure. oh and heads up. dice-up-his-ass kid is heading straight towards you

"Huh?" Izuku frowned, looking up just in time to see the boy from before. He stopped right in front of him and crossed his arms over his chest, blocking his view of the girl.

"She looks like she's busy training. Unlike you who are still on your phone. I would think twice before interrupting someone who looks like they actually want to be here." And then he walked away, with the same scowl on his face as before.

Izuku clenched his fists. The first time he had called him out, it had shocked him. But now the misunderstanding just made him upset. "I do want to be here," he mumbled. "And I'm going to prove it."

But before Izuku knew it, Present Mic was yelling at them to go. The sound of a buzzer breaking him out of his thoughts. Izuku shoved his phone into his pocket, pulled up the zipper to make sure it didn't fly out, and then took off after the others. He caught up to the front of the group in no time and it didn't surprise him to see that Glasses was ahead of everyone already. Their eyes met for a brief moment before he kicked off and left Izuku in the dust, literally.

Izuku coughed and barely moved out of the way, the debris from Glasses' speed boost stinging his eyes. It had to be his quirk because otherwise there was no way he was that fast. But before Izuku had any time to react, a robot jumped out at him from the left side of a building. It was labeled with a number 1, so while it wouldn't give Izuku many points, it was worth testing out.

"Alright, let's see what your dice can do X," Izuku grinned to himself as rushed towards the robot. In a matter of seconds, they collided, fist to metal and Izuku didn't even feel it because it happened so fast. The robot exploded and Izuku backflipped to avoid getting hit by the debris and metallic parts. For a while, he just stood there, smiling at its broken body like an idiot.

I got a point… I actually really got a point, he looked back down at his hand and tightened the fist that was starting to bruise. Then out of nowhere, another robot came barreling towards him. Izuku could have easily moved out of the way but instead, a beam of light sent the robot flying, taking care of it for him.

"Whoa," Izuku breathed out as he stumbled backward. The beam had missed his face by only a couple of inches, the smell of burnt metal filling the air. When the smoke dispersed, a thin blonde boy appeared before him, flashing him a flirty smile.

"Je suis désolé!" he waved and then took off in the other direction.

Izuku quickly got to his feet and rushed back into the mix too, his heart beating wildly out of his chest. Every time he smashed a robot down, he felt a tingle throughout his whole body. The smile was still there too. It made him think back to his idol. Is this what All Might felt when he was taking down villains?

Izuku shamelessly yelled out a couple of 'Plus Ultras' while he took down robot after robot.

Despite the increase of difficulty while he got further into the city, Izuku still moved around swiftly. He didn't have to worry about making perfect hits because he knew he could always heal himself when he got home. And, since he knew he was pressed for time, Izuku started coming up with strategies while he knocked his targets down.

If there were two robots heading towards him from his left and from his right, he would wait until they were close enough and then rely on his speed to move out of the way, causing them to collide into each other. Then, he would punch a third bot into the two and knock three out of the way; maximizing his score, while also minimizing the damage to his own body.

However, some robots did prove to be difficult. This was especially so when he started fighting against 3-pointers. Izuku found that these robots were much more intelligent. They didn't fall for his tricks and were faster too. Not as fast as he was due to their size, but fast enough that he couldn't outrun them without running into another robot.

They also didn't go down with just a single punch. Izuku had learned that the hard way. He had just finished a 2-pointer off when the 3-pointer appeared out of nowhere. At that moment, he had two options: run and hope there was no robot waiting around the corner, or face it head-on and risk getting cornered into a building.

Izuku had decided to take his chances and slammed his hand into the robot's metallic green body but that only sent it a few feet back. He barely even made a dent. When he looked back down at his own hand, however, he discovered that the hit had skimmed off some of the skin of his knuckles.

"Crap," Izuku mumbled, as the robot rushed towards him again. It was bigger and faster than the others he had faced, with a large stinger-like appendage near its back. Red beady eyes stared him down and Izuku watched it get closer and closer until he jumped out of the way and rolled on the floor.

The building where it had crashed into exploded and Izuku shielded his face to keep from glass entering his eyes. He could feel it prickle his skin however and when he stumbled to his feet, his arms and legs were bleeding. But there was no time to analyze his wounds because the robot started moving again, eyes flashing as it locked on Izuku as its target.

This time when it approached, Izuku stopped right before the robot crashed into him and decided to attack from the side. It seemed to predict this however and swatted him aside with its stinger. Izuku felt the air get knocked out of him as he tumbled into some kind of fake grocery shop. When the world stopped spinning, he quickly stood up and ran back outside. The robot locked eyes on him again but this time Izuku managed to hit it. Still, the dent he made wasn't any better than the previous hit and he hurt his knuckles even more in the process.

Damnnit, Izuku gritted his teeth through the pain, staring up at the bot with a frown.

What would All Might do? He found himself wondering. Izuku could also feel the seconds ticking down. He didn't know how long it had been since the exam had started but he had to finish this fast and move on to get more points.

Come on Izuku… think. Think! He watched as the robot headed towards him again, stinger at the ready. Izuku furrowed his brows and narrowly missed the strike. The bot easily slashed through his jacket and grazed at his skin. Izuku tried to ignore the thin line of blood that appeared on his stomach. If only there was something he could do about the stinger. Once he got that out of the way, he would be able to focus all his attention on the robot itself and finish it off quickly.

As his eyes scoured the torn down landscape, he noticed a couple of broken robot parts scattered towards the dead end on his right. If he could get to the parts and lift them up, he could use them as a shield to keep from getting stung. Better yet, he could trap the robot's stinger with the shield, and use his remaining strength to flip it over where he would finish it off with a plus ultra smash. But if Izuku wasn't strong enough, there would be nowhere to run. The robot would corner him.

He thought about reaching into his pocket and taking out his phone, asking for X to activate the dice he had brought with him, but there were too many people around. He noticed the blonde boy from before watching him every now and then. And even though he didn't see him, he wouldn't be surprised if Glasses appeared out of nowhere too. It wasn't a risk he was willing to take. Plus, Izuku wanted to do this on his own.

I got this. I can do this. I just need to time it right, he chewed on his bottom lip as the robot got closer and closer. It seemed to lead with its eyes and suddenly Izuku got an idea. He thought back to the beginning of the exam when he had been running alongside Glasses, the way he had seemed to kick up the debris in the air to mess with his eyes. Izuku still wasn't sure if he had done it on purpose, but he figured it didn't matter anymore. Not when he was about to do the same thing.

Before the robot had a chance to get in close, Izuku took off running. He made sure to kick back when his feet touched the ground, lifting any large chunks of gravel in the robot's direction.

Tap. Boom. Clank.

Each rock hit the robot's body making a specific sound.

Brrrrrrap.

When Izuku turned back around, he noticed a rock had gotten stuck in the robot's wheels, momentarily causing it to stop. It wasn't much but it gave Izuku just enough time to reach the place where he had seen the robot parts. He nearly slipped because he was so excited the sound of his heart drumming throughout his chest growing louder and louder until eventually, he reached the broken parts. It seemed to be a piece of a robot's arm from one of the 2-pointers. Relief flooded through him when he was able to lift it up with ease, but it was short-lived when the robot cornered him against the wall.

Izuku gripped the metallic structure in his hands tightly, waiting and watching as the robot's stinger curled towards him. And then, right as the robot sent it down to strike him, Izuku lifted up the shield and watched as the stinger got stuck in the middle. The robot let out a high-pitched squeal that definitely knocked out the sound in one of his ears but he couldn't stop now.

Before the robot had a chance to pull out its body part, Izuku firmly planted his feet on the ground, gritted his teeth, and let out a piercing shriek of his own while he attempted to toss the robot over his shoulder. Even though he wasn't strong enough to move the entire thing, he did rip out the appendage. The robot tried to slash at him with its claws but Izuku was faster, finishing it off with his most powerful punch yet. The impact was so intense that Izuku was slammed back against the wall and almost lost consciousness. However, when he opened his eyes and sat up, he watched as the bot went up in flames and felt a smile creep upon his lips.

"How much was that, X?" Izuku asked while he tried to catch his breath. When he pulled out his phone he noticed it was significantly more cracked than before, dirt and dry blood caked over the screen. Guess that's why they said not to bring phones.

Oops.

70! i'm actually impressed. it's only been 15 minutes, u still have 5 left :P

Izuku shook his head, the smile growing wider. "You're kidding me," he breathed out, standing up shakily. He noticed a couple more robots around the corner and started jogging towards all the commotion. When All Might had passed the Entrance Exam, he had received a score of 80. No one had ever gotten close, let alone surpassed his record in the past 20 years.

His eyes roamed the broken-down city, watching as students took down robot after robot. Glasses was somewhere near the left, using his impressive speed to outrun a bot and then lead it into the wall of a building. Izuku even managed to see the cute girl from before, touching three different robots and lifting them up off the ground. However, when they slammed to the floor, Izuku noticed one of them landed on her leg.

At the same time, a set of robots appeared over his shoulder. They were all 3-pointers. Izuku could easily knock them out. Everyone else was distracted. And yet…

He found himself thinking back to the girl right as his phone dinged.

2 NEW QUEST(S) HAVE BEEN UNLOCKED

[Help the cute girl with the pink cheeks] – x5 Dice

[Surpass All Might's 80 point record] – x1 ? Dice

There it was again. The question mark dice. Izuku frowned at the screen. It was like X was messing with him.

"You know what, I'm starting to think you don't want me to get this mysterious dice," Izuku sighed. As soon as he saw the first message, he already knew what his choice was going to be.

hmm, what makes u say that? :3

Izuku didn't even bother answering, already halfway across the lawn. He had no idea how many points she had accumulated, but if his help meant the difference between her passing the exam and failing, then he would always go with the first quest. X had already given him so much and Izuku was grateful. So he was going to use his abilities and be the hero he had always wanted to be. He was going to be there for others whenever he could.

"Need some help?" he asked, arriving at her side. The girl stopped struggling with her leg to look up at him in shock.

"Dice boy! Wait, what are you doing here? The test is almost over and you need to get points," she shook her head as Izuku started removing the heavy rubble from her leg. With each piece he moved, the color seemed to come back to her face.

"I figured it would be cooler if we knocked out robots together," he gave her a shy smile while she leaned against him. She said something but her soft voice was drowned out by the sound of rumbling and distant explosions. Suddenly, all around them, the ground started shaking and buildings began to collapse.

"Hey, look out!" someone yelled behind him. When Izuku turned, he noticed all the students running past them. They all seemed to be heading back to the main entrance, panic slicked on their grimy faces.

"What's going on?" he looked around, trying to figure out why everyone was so freaked out. He noticed Glasses among the mix but the boy didn't even acknowledge him as he zoomed by. However, when Izuku followed his point of vision, he really wished he hadn't turned around. There, not too far away in the distance, was the largest robot he had ever seen. It had to be 100 feet tall, no more! There's no way the examiners expected him, or anyone for that matter, to fight something like that. It was impossible. Even with dice! Right?

"Um, dice boy… we should really run," the girl suggested and Izuku quickly nodded. He picked her up and started rushing towards the others, thankful for his speed. But halfway through his run, Izuku realized his phone wasn't in his pocket.

He skidded to a halt and gently set the girl down once they were far away enough, frantically checking all his pockets until he discovered the hole where his phone must have fallen through.

Shit.

"Wait, where are you going?" the girl asked, her eyes widening as he started moving back towards the incoming robot.

"I need my phone!" he answered before taking off again, heart hammering in his chest. He had never asked X what would happen if he lost his phone, but he didn't want to think about the consequences of breaking it. Would all his progress with the dice dissipate? Would he lose contact with X forever?

While he got closer, it became harder to see and breathe. The massive robot was causing so much damage that most of the area around it was now on fire or completely broken. Izuku had to jump over torn down buildings and avoid being flattened like a pancake as he ran. Even so, he wasn't even concerned for his life or the way his body ached every time he pushed himself to go faster. He knew he was well past his limit but none of it would matter if he lost his phone.

And Izuku wasn't ready to let go of the very thing that had saved him in the first place.

When he rounded a corner and arrived where he had found the girl, he saw his phone lying relatively unharmed on the floor. Somehow still intact. If he had been any slower, the robot would have totally crushed it. So before it could get any closer, Izuku dove towards it.

Two things happened when his hand curled around the phone. One, the robot seemed to stop moving and he vaguely heard the buzzer go off which signified the end of the exam. And two, the top part of the building he was under came crashing down. Then, he blacked out.

When Ochako saw the boy rushing towards her, she thought he was crazy. Cute, but also crazy. He was willing to sacrifice his score just to help her, and she didn't know whether to feel bad or enjoy the moment. However, when the boy left her with the others and took off after the robot by himself, yelling out something about his phone, Ochako didn't know what to think.

Thankfully, the examiners stopped the robot before he got crushed. She remembered running after him right as part of the building collapsed on his body. Even now as they were pulling him out, she had no idea how he had survived the impact.

"Is he going to be alright?" she asked, limping over to the old woman who was giving everybody kisses. She called herself Recovery Girl and wore a cute little bun in her hair.

"Hmm, yes. He will just need to rest. It seems that he jumped out of the way at the right moment. What led him to make such a foolish decision in the first place is beyond me but, well, it's no surprise that things turn out this way during entrance exams," she sighed.

Ochako could only nod, watching as they took the boy away on a stretcher. She felt guilty. If he hadn't helped her in the first place, he would have never lost his phone. And he never would have had to run back there. She could hear the whispers, people criticizing him for having made that decision.

"What was he thinking?"

She clenched her fists. What if there was something really important on his phone?

"Probably trying to be a show-off."

He didn't strike her as the type to be that way, not after he had helped her.

"Yeah, but why? Didn't you see him taking down all those bots? He was crazy fast and strong!"

Her cheeks flushed at that comment. She hadn't noticed it but they were right, he was pretty cool.

"Some people just can't get enough, I guess."

"Would you like me to heal your leg?" Recovery Girl tapped her knee with a cane lightly. Ochako was grateful for the interruption and smiled.

"Yes please," she said slowly, watching as the older hero planted a sloppy kiss on her shin. Almost immediately, the pain fled her body and she could straighten her leg again. However, the nausea of her quirk overuse and the guilt was still there. "Thank you" she smiled as Recovery Girl moved on to help the others. She really hoped that boy would be okay and that he had gotten enough points before he rushed over to help her.

If I wasn't so weak he would have never had to help me, Ochako frowned. She kicked at a random piece of rubble and followed the rock with her eyes until it hit the side of a building.

And that's when she saw them, glimmering underneath a large chunk of gravel. The color of a deep blue.

Dice.

Ochako furrowed her brows and rushed over, bending down and inspecting them carefully. She expected the dice to be scratched up and dirty but they were relatively unharmed, gleaming intensely. They reminded her of the one the green-haired boy had on his phone, except these were a different color. Did they belong to him?

"The exam is over, miss. Please let the clean-up duty perform their jobs and leave with all the others," a boy with glasses called out to her. She recognized him from the presentation. He had asked the question about the robot.

Ochako nodded quickly and stuck the dice in her pocket, following him towards the exit. I'll make sure to save these for him. If I ever see him again, she decided. Maybe she could come back tomorrow and talk to Present Mic too, try and explain what had happened. The last thing she wanted was for the boy to get penalized for trying to help her. What if he still needed points? Ochako was even willing to go as far as giving him some of her own. Even though she knew her parents were counting on her to get into U.A., she didn't want to do so at the expense of other people. She'd find another way to help them financially.

At the same time, the phone she had left back in the locker room started vibrating like crazy, a message from someone called X waiting to be discovered.

Dun dun dunnnn, Ochako found his dice! Will she play once she finds out what they can do? Or will she confront Izuku about it? More importantly, will she use the dice for good or evil..?br /

Wow, I didn't think I was gonna even post today because my classes started up again and the reading has been HEAVY. But this chapter was really fun to write and ended up being a little longer than I planned. I hope everything has been clear so far and that you're enjoying it. I also hope you like the minor changes I'm bringing to the OG story, such as Izuku not falling when he arrives at UA, Iida calling him out for texting instead of mumbling, or him saving Ochako before he knew that the robot was unleashed. Some of these are stylistic choices, while others are intentional and may or may not have some foreshadowing for future events *wink wink*. Rest assured, this will not be a carbon copy of the anime and will feature different characters at different times!br /

Stay tuned for the next chapter where we finally meet Class 1-A. As always, I'd love to hear what you think, and thanks so much for reading. Have a great week everybody :)
