Chapter 2: Steady Tray
After a while, Bella and Noreen decided to check out the Alabama's steering wheel.
"This is the wheel, the tire of the boat! The captain's in charge!" Bella examined.
"It's just like steering a car." Jamie told tem.
"I'm going to go to the right." Noreen explained.
"We can call it Starboard onboard the boat! Now watch the boat turn, you'll see the boat turn into starboard!" Jamie added.
"We're on a boat and so relaxed in the summertime! It's just like going on a cruise." Milo lay down on the deck of the Alabama and chilled out.
Just then, the purple boy got an idea that hit him like a truck. Milo stood on the Alabama, only for Jamie, Kyle, and Francesco to grab him.
"A-A-A. Don't fall off, Milo." Kyle got him back down on deck.
"You could fall into the river." Jamie said. "...And drown."
"Drown? I don't wanna drown!" Milo whined.
Francesco sat down on the Alabama with Emily and Milo. The surface was too hard, so his water bottle fell down.
"U O! Water spillage!" Jake exclaimed.
"Your drink keeps spilling because it's too wavy!" Emily noticed.
"What can we do?" Milo asked.
"Today we're going to solve this problem by inventing something that will keep our drinks from tipping over! We can use cardboard, tape, string, and meter sticks, OK, what if we took this big cardboard box and made that on and a cardboard holder and we'll put the cup in there and then we could attach it with string!" Emily told the purple boy.
"I think these things should work because they're more equal and have two strings. It would wobble, it would be uneven!" Milo explained.
"Make the strings a little looser so that these things could move around!" Francesco said.
"I don't think we should keep it in the box actually, Mate!" Milo told Francesco.
"Maybe we should hang it on a higher structure, what if we made a teepee!" Emily suggested.
"Teepee?" Francesco, Milo, and Jake asked.
"Yeah, kinda like a teepee and hang it in here!" Emily said. "How do you think we should hold the teepees?"
"Just kinda tape them together!" Francesco insisted.
"How do you wanna string it though?" asked Jake.
"Tape the sequence that they were before, Jakey." Milo explained.
"String them up and hang them in the-" Emily stated.
"Fab-a-Rooney!" Milo jumped up. Francesco, Emily, and Jake giggled. But then, the Teepee hurt Francesco. "Ow!"
"Should we tape it to the ground?" Milo asked.
"OK." Emily nodded.
Jake, Milo, Francesco, and Emily taped the ground, part of the teepee.
"Do you think we should attach these to the box?" Francesco asked.
"Boy, you said it Francesco! That idea is cool-a-rooney!" Milo exclaimed.
"When we're done what should we call it?" Emily asked.
"How about the Non-Tipper-Overer?" Jake suggested.
"Great name!" Milo commented.
"We should fold these sides first!" Emily added.
Emily put Francesco's water bottle in the box.
"Awesome! Our water is not to tip over, that's silly!" Jake said. Milo grabbed a water bottle.
"We're gonna place this water bottle over here and see what happens!" Milo told the ZOOMLets (viewers). But it fell down again!
"Not again?! This means we have to make another steady tray or Non-Tipper-Overer." Francesco groaned.
"See if you can build your own non-tipper-overer at home, there could be a problem you need to solve, playing a board game on a bumpy road, or your mom's coffee when you bring her breakfast in bed!" Emily told ZOOMLets at home.
