It was about to start, the Cricket Tournament, everyone in attendance took their seats on and by the field. Eagerly excited and awaiting for victory of the four houses. Who would come out on top? Many had their idea of who it would be, others weren't sure, but mostly it was enjoyment of what was to come. The arena was nearly packed, Harmony stood marveled at so many people on such a warm and fresh day. She couldn't stop smiling, dressed for the occasion, a baby blue dress with, bows, and white gloves. Black shoes. Nothing too much but just right, she sat on the side of the field with Lizzie, Mey-Rin, Bradoly, Finny, Paula, and McMillan whom she named 'Freckled Ciel'. Something he didn't have much choice but to except. Unlike Lizzie and McMillan who sat in the lawn chairs under a lawn umbrella, Harmony took to sitting in Finny's lap.
Happily clapping when the two teams entered on the field. Scarlet House and the Blue House. Her cheers and delight flared even more on an important person she couldn't help but cheer loudly for them.
"Veerji! Veerji! You can do it!"
Soma boldly and proudly smiled from ear to ear at her praise, pumping out his chest chivalrously as he could. It puffed more the longer Harmony cheered. "I will do my best! You do not need to worry, your veerji will trumpet all!" He proclaimed boastfully.
There was no doubt in Harmony's mind that he wouldn't, settling down, watched the match start. They where throwing some sort of ball or at least Soma was and it seem the other house was holding some sort of flat stick. It was quite odd, she understood the ball and big flat sticks...just why they where using them like that? Raising a brow, tilted her head a bit. Scratching a finger to her head, trying to find some sort of understanding with all this. Another thing that puzzled her was why this game was called cricket when there weren't any crickets at all.
"There are no bugs," she said a bit disappointed, Baldroy overheard her and chuckled a bit.
Rested a hand on head lightly. "It's not a game 'bout bugs," she didn't understand. "it's a sport. You've played it before or seen it right?"
The lost look in her eyes told him, no. Much to his surprise. "Well, then..." he smiled cheekily, "I'll tell you 'bout it. Now, when someone knocks over the wickets behind the batter it's called "bowled" and they're out on the spot. It's also out if the ball is caught without bouncing and it's out if the wickets are knocked over while the batter is out of the crease. Understand?"
She just blinked. Trying to process everything he just said, all she understood was a ball and the stick. Turning back to the game, watched Soma throw the ball at the first...batter if she remembered correctly. They missed and ball hit a stick lodged in the ground knocking it down. Was this the game?
"I don't get it at all," she fumed furrowing hard. Huffing. Whined. "it doesn't make any sense!"
Finny lightly pat her on the head. "It's alright, I'm learning too. Remember though we're here to cheer on the Master."
She stopped. "Oh, Ciel! Is he here yet?" She began looking around feverously, finding no sign of him. Her shoulders slump, "he's not out yet. When is he coming? I want to see, Ciel."
"He'll be out soon," McMillan said trying to cheer her up, she looked at him sharply, earning a nervous chuckle from him. He say back quickly.
"Actually," Mey-Rin began looking about the faces of the crowd, worry slowly spreading over her, "where is the Baroness? She said she'd be right back. I hope she's okay."
Damnit! Damnit! Damnit!
You seethed internally, how dare...just...that low down, no good son of a bi-
"Oh, do smile hmm," Lau instructed whispering to you, "we must make sure to get as many bets as possible. A pretty smile will attract the necessary patron, such a sour look isn't good for business nor does it match your lovely dress." He sighed, "And here I went through so much trouble to obtain it for you in the right size and shape."
You snapped. "Shut up! This isn't even the right size at all! It's shorter than the last one!"
He looked at you stunned and confused. And slightly hurt. Covering his mouth with the sleeve of his robe, "Why, my Lovely Flower, why would you such a hurtful thing? Your dress is the same as the others, I thought you would be flattered to wear something so nice. It's made of the finest silk you can't obtain anywhere else. It was quite expensive."
You wanted to bite his head off, but held back knowing well you had promised to go through this without even knowing. Recalling the words you said to Ciel that would do anything...wanting to curse yourself for saying those words. Think against it as it would be wrong. Even so, this was...this...if this didn't get you back in Ciel's good grace you weren't sure if...
Letting out a hard sigh, try tugging at end of the dress to cover as much as you could but your nearly bare legs felt the breeze, even with the gold stockings that you wore. Reaching to your thighs allowing eyes from others to trail all along them. You try to block out their ever looking eyes, while forcing a smile taking their beats and posing next to the cart Lau had. It was good thing no one knew it was you, the white ponytail wig Lau gave you helped, its bangs covered your left eye. So you could go unnoticed. Still, the eyes of others just made your skin crawl especially from the heated vibe they gave, mainly when you bend over exposing some of your chest from the open cut in the dress.
The hungry eyes from the men was just daunting. Your skin couldn't stop crawling. A part of you wanted to snap at them to stop looking, then turn it on Lau. But, you didn't and just smiled.
Wrote down numbers. Whatever you needed to do. This disguise was good, so that was a good thing. The wig was just itchy, it was hard not to scratch.
"I wonder how the tournament is fairing," you expressed woefully, hearing the cheering of everyone at the field. If you recalled right now it was Red vs Blue. You weren't sure if Ciel was in this match or not. If he was you silently wished him good luck and Soma too. "I have no doubt Harmony is cheering valiantly for Soma."
You smile the thought, knowing well she was.
"Another beat!" Lau came over interrupting your moment of bliss thoughts. Handed you the paper.
You snatched. "You're too close!" You barked, writing down the numbers.
He just smiled. "Is it a crime to smell a flower?"
"Shut-up." you grumbled. "How much longer must I be presented this way?"
He gave it a thought for a moment. "When the young lord has no use of your help, I suppose." That wasn't helpful at all. "I will tell you this, the young lord will need you for visual effects."
You popped a brow. "What are you talking about?"
Lau said nothing, just simply smiled and turned back to wages. Idiot man, you fumed, what sort of visual effect did Ciel need you for? So many thoughts and assumptions came to mind to mind. What it actually was, turned scarlet you went in shock. But that didn't happen just yet, taking a few more scores and bets, Lau so kindly gave you a break for a bit before you where needed back for visual effect. Understanding, grudgingly you manage to slip out the area and away from others eyes using as much shadow and shade as possible hurry over to the field. You reach expecting to see Ciel and Soma, find you went the wrong way and end up where Violet and Green houses where playing.
"This isn't where I wanted to go," you huff quietly, with a small groan. "I wanted to see Ciel."
Cheers broke out from the crowd, turned your attention to the match at hand, the moment you looked your eyes landed on a certain player.
Edward.
He wasn't playing, he stood on the side lines geared towards the game with a honed focus. It snatched your breath for a moment just staring at him. Your heart swelled and cheeks turned a certain red you had to touch them. They where warm...no...hot...no they burned. Same as your thoughts that suddenly become consumed about Edward. For a moment, it was like a flash you saw this...this life...this strange life that was, blissful.
It was Spring all the time, you where walking arm in arm with Edward down the street. The two of you sharing a warm laugh. Another moment, you and him sitting at the park enjoying a nice picnic under the tree. Dancing together at a gala or party. And for some reason the two of you locked in a playful yet respectable fencing. The whole time he smiled at you and it was that smile you focused on, especially when he spoke your name. His hand out courtly to you, waiting for you to take it. It was nothing but bliss, that's all you saw. It sent a warm sensation that you've never felt before through you, safe and warm. And...happy? You weren't sure, your mind was buzzing from those thoughts. Thoughts for some reason though provided you with something wonderful...dropped a pit in it.
Your hands began trembling a bit, you had to hold them together tightly. A dullness settled in your chest suddenly, your eyes begin to sting. Casting your eyes to the ground muddling in your thoughts and feelings, you hadn't noticed eyes on you. Especially by a certain mohawk young man. Feeling locked eyes on you look up and scream inside. Go stiff outside, you nearly turned pale.
It was Cheslock!
He is eyes meet with yours, though you wanted to break the hold didn't. You where in character, you simply blink a few times and force a mild smile, while slowly backing away. Cursing yourself internally. Even more when flashed you this...odd confident smirk that was some how soft. It ran chills all over you. Still walking back, kept up the smile until you turned and ran off. The moment you did, Edward turned in the direction you had been standing as if he knew you had been there. The air smelled a different.
Fanning yourself from that whole encounter and sticky feeling from the look Cheslock gave hurry back to Lau. The moment you arrive he greets you with arms open, you shove his face away.
"Such a prickly flower," he said following.
He was too close, "What?!" you whip around barking.
"Well," he took out a fan from his sleeve, opened it and held over the lower half of his face. "it's time."
