"-And what did you say your name was, again?" Lizzie asked you.
Not you, you. But your disguised self, that followed Lau and Ran-Mao back to the area where Lizzie, Harmony and others where sitting for lunch. It surprised you that no one saw pass the disguise, which was good...you guessed. You just couldn't stop shaking the discomfort running all over, you couldn't stop tugging the end of the dress a bit. While keeping your smile straight and polite.
"M-My na-name is..."you try to think quickly what to say.
Lau answered. "Why her name is Meiying. It means beautiful flower." You hissed silently at him, shot him a quick sharp glare.
"Oh, what a lovely name!" Lizzie complimented, "Meiying! I enjoy saying it."
Your smile wrinkled a little. "T-Thank you, I-I love it too." Lau's smile grew. "And thank you for a-allowing me to join you and everyone for lunch."
Paula handed you a slice of meat pie, the moment you took it Soma came. "Hello every-" he stopped and stared. At you, your whole body froze. A scream was ready yo erupt from you, it was coming you felt the building pressure. Or was it was your rapid heartbeat? Whatever it was, drummed in your ears, they turned red.
What was going through Soma's mind? Was he going to blow your cover? Just how was he always able to see through your disguses? What did he think of you now? The way his eyes slowly looked you up and down with a mild wrinkle of confusion. A part of you wanted to tug on your collar, but you resisted, and remain as calm as you could.
"Soma!" Harmony jumped up, running over to him. "Soma!"
Oh thank goodness, you sighed inside.
He took his attention from you, to Harmony smiling big and warm. "Harmony!" He scooped her up, pressed his cheek against hers. Quietly you smiled warmly inside, it showed a bit outside.
"Soma! I missed you!" Harmony beamed, hugging him tighter. "Are you okay?"
He chuckled. "Yes, come let us sit down with everyone." He carried her with him and sat down next to you. She remained in his lap, Paula served them both a plate. He turned to you, smiling. "And who are you?"
Before you could answer Harmony does, "That's Mr. Lau's...Mr. Lau's.." she blinked a few times trying hard to remember.
"My cousin," Lau said.
"Yes! That's right! Mr. Lau's sister, Mei-Mei!"
Everyone chuckled softly at Harmony attempt, Lizzie came in correcting her. "It's Meiying."
"Yes, Meiying," you said, looking back at Soma. "I am Meiying and you are?" Hold out a hand to him.
He took it gently, "Prince Soma, a pleasure to meet you." Kissed the top of your hand, heat rose on your cheeks and heart fluttered. A bashful smile came from you. "Welcome to England."
"Yes, thank you," you softly say, looking away.
He let go of your hand, Harmony looked from you to Soma, then back to you. Tapped a finger to her chin, using the fork you take a piece of the pie and start eating. It was delicious, you looked a Bardoly a bit surprised. He had on a proud smile, and you instantly knew. Smiled to yourself, knowing well what happened and who did something.
"Meiying, what do you think of Cricket?" Lizzie asked.
You swallow the piece of pie, take a moment. "It is quite interesting. I have read up about it and I must say it is different seeing it being played."
"It is quite interesting and enjoyable to watch."
"Yes, it is. I have never been to tournament before, everyone is in high spirits. Giving their all, do you have a particular team you are for?"
"The Blue!" she squealed clasping her hands together.
Harmony sprung up doing the same. "The Blue! The Blue!" She spun around a few times, lost her footing and toppled backwards.
"Harmony!"
Everyone panics reaching for her, Paula nearly dived, luckily she was caught by you and Soma. Your heart nearly burst out your chest but settled seeing she was alright.
"Are you alright?" you asked setting her up.
She nodded clinging to Soma, he took her back in his lap, where she curled up. He laid a soothing hand on her head, quietly humming. You watched a bit stunned at how it worked and how he was with her. Paula went over to her side to check, Finny too and the others. McMillian too. Seeing all this, everyone's care and love for Harmony, lite your heart you wish you could cry. You knew she was going to be safe and would be taken care of. From a distance Sebastian heard the commotion, turned to see. He noticed everyone surrounding Harmony, she was trembling and gripping Soma.
He wondered what was wrong and was about to go over when he noticed something else. The soft pained expression settled on your face, he'd seen that look before. That one night on the ride back from the palace for New Years and before that back on the liner, once more during the murder at the manor. Those words reflected in your eyes you refused to say. Just what was it, he wondered.
There as no time to dwell on that now, he would figure it out later, right now it was time for the next match and Sebastian needed to get ready.
Fan-fair and the announcement of the next match turned everyone's attention back to the field. Harmony had stopped and calmed down. The next against each other, the Blue House and Green.
"Ciel! Go for it!" Lizzie cried in a cheerful way, it came off as screaming.
Harmony joined her. "Go Ciel! Go for it!"
You where dumbfounded for a moment how quickly your sister recovered, it was hard not to laugh a bit. Looking to the field, as the two house line up before one another, you look from Ciel to Edward. Unsure who to cheer for, would it matter being dressed like this? It would realizing Ciel knew you were in disguise. Held in a tight spot, decided to keep who you cheered for to yourself.
The game started, Blue was up to bat, and music started playing. Music? You turn to see and find Sebastian conducting a band, which was odd, though even odder you turned back to field, the Blue hit each ball pitched at them. It was amazing and rather a surprise. Never the less you applauded their performance, Harmony was jumping up and down, Soma stayed behind her just in case, cheering and clapping her hands. She slipped a bit and fell back. Soma caught her, told her to be careful, set her back up. He quickly at you with a reassuring smile. You give a soft smile of thanks, feel a tap on your shoulder, it was Ran-Mao. She gestured with her eyes back at Lau.
Looking past her at him, narrow eyes coldly at him, he just got up. You do the same thing, sighing. Before you walk off, Soma reaches out and grabs your hand. Holding you back.
"Soma?" you turn back to him.
He didn't look up or say a thing, his grip only tighten a bit, you where about to say his name or something when he let you go. Something pinched tightly inside of you, your eyes dropped to the ground quickly. That you didn't want to go, quickly you slide your eyes back to Soma and almost gasp, the smile he had on was cheerful but there was something hidden underneath it set this squeamish pit inside you. Inhaling deep and long, turn and follow Ran Mao, you had to do what Ciel wanted you to.
And whatever it was you would do it. Pumping yourself up, whatever would work to get back into his good grace, get ready for it. Arrive where Lau was and the rest of the girls.
"Are you ready?" Lau asked.
You nod. "Yes. I am."
His smile grew a little, dug into this sleeve and pulled out a two red ribbons handed them to you. You rose a brow. "Just use those long steam legs of yours and that lovely flower face. Alright?"
The way he said it, made your skin crawl a bit. "A-Alright," you said wearily.
"Perfect, now follow me, we're up next. Oh," he stopped turning back to you. "do stay close but not too close, keep the show going."
With those words you and the girls follow Lau back to the field, to do the task.
A task you fumed like a volcano inside over and over again, but remained calm, cute, and light on the feet. Jumping and leaping here and there, twirling around, using the ribbons dancing well. Everyone once an awhile you looked at field, winked with a alluring smile. The ribbons added to the look you gave. With every look you gave and the other girls, those up to hit which was the Green house, froze, breaking their focus. Red burned their cheeks each time a player looked over. You even added in some blowing kisses. Needless to say it worked, this strategy was working.
Yet it felt and was so shameless, you cried inside.
Despite what you felt, you just kept telling yourself, it was all for Ciel. All for him, even when you spotted Edward out the corner of your eye going up to hit.
Edward!?
You shriek inside, get distracted for a moment one of the ribbons tangles itself around your ankle, causing you to trip and fall. Hard to the ground, some how you managed to fall in a rather innocent and promiscuous way.
"Well," you mutter rubbing your knees a bit, began untangling yourself when suddenly you where scooped up in by strong arms in a firm and strong hold.
Your head snaps up, finding Herman holding you with a face all red and a strained dignified look he tried to keep while holding you. Feeling something trembling, you look down and see his legs sturdy as they could be shaking.
"A-Are y-you," he tries to get out, flustering each word, "a-alright?"
Quietly you nod, start to get out of his hold, he helped you setting you back on the grass gently. Like a pillow, he quickly gives you a nod, without looking at you, and hurries back to the field.
You drop your eyes and shoulders to the ground, when a hand lands on your shoulder followed by a loud authoritarian voice. Booming in your year. "This is unruly conduct, it is forbidden to watch the came in such lecherous clothing!"
Nothing came to your mind, you just stare at the man and try to smile, shrug your shoulders. "O-Oh...umm...no English?" you chuckle.
That didn't work, you along with Ran-Mao, the girls and Lau where removed from the field. Thank goodness, tossing the ribbons down you get ready to sit, when Lau stops you.
"Oh, not yet," he said, you look at him, then Ran-Mao who appears behind him holding up another disguise.
A familiar on you, you hadn't expected to see or thought to wear. Your maid one, sighing you understand, and go change. In a few minutes you where done, the minute you stepped out something or rather someone comes like the wind and scoops you up. A frightful scream nearly came from you, if not for that amused devilish throated chuckle that made you cross your arms despite the height you where in.
"It's not funny, Sebastian," you scowl.
He flashed a purred smirk, pressing his cheek to yours. "Come now, it was a little. The surprise and fear really brought out your eyes."
Your frown hard. Wrap your arms around his neck. "Oh, I'll bring something out for you."
He gasped as if flattered. "Why, May right now? In pubic? I thought that was only away from the eyes of others, in secret. Well," he leaned in a more, touching his nose to yours. "if your thirsty now, we can."
Your stare harder at him, smirk. "Shut up."
"I suppose you're right, work comes first," he teased lightly, changing the subject, "the principal has been spotted and the young master needs us. I will apprehend while you make your way to his office and see if there is anything you can find."
The office, a familiar shiver ran down your spine. "Alright."
