"Sebastian!" You hiss quietly," Wait! Wha-What am I'm looking for?"
There was no answer, he was gone as quickly as he dropped you off at Headmaster's office. You had little time to ask him anything, though you could have on the way here...it was just that...he made quite insufferable, thinking about it stamped your cheeks a cherry red. Curse that man! Demon! And his crafty words.
Honestly, you wondered how you managed to restrain yourself. Smoothing out the minor wrinkles of your skirt in an effort to distract yourself from your racing heart pounding against your rib cage like a drum, it did very little.
So you stopped.
Still keeping your head and eyes to the floor, felt twice as uncomfortable than you did minutes early knowing you'd be coming here. There was just something...about this place was deathly familiar, every time you would come to clean it was this feeling that washed over like ice, running a shiver down the spine. Gripping you first by the shoulder with a touch all too familiar and then around your neck. Crushing it sinisterly, grinning with a twisted form of wicked affection. That you often couldn't breathe.
Just as you were now, standing with this unseen demeaning presence, frozen and unresponsive. Your heart pounding like a drum in your ears, you nearly screamed not from the building pressure but from...from...
Ciel! You remembered, come to your senses. Ciel gave you a task and needed to complete it, lightly smacking your cheeks refocus back to the task at hand.
Taking a moment to calm your heart and nerves, look back at the door with iron confidence, and go in.
The door creaked open softly as you peered inside. It was quiet...very quiet...deathly. Not a single sound, even as you lightly walked in and shut the door behind you. This place was always so clean and tidy whenever you came you often wondered for what reason. Though you were never given any.
Reaching the desk, papers, and all stationery properly placed, being to carefully look through the drawers and all around. Nothing really out of the ordinary, just documents. Moving away scope the whole room, still nothing. Going to the walls gentle trail your fingers over them; hoping to find something. Alas, there was nothing, disappoint began settling, there had to be something besides that unsettling familiar feeling here. Just something, anything really that might be sufficient enough for Ciel.
Ciel, you despondently sigh, I...I...if you could please...please...
The words couldn't form despite the desperate attempt. His eye held so much distain...mixed with souring pain you could hardly bear it. How you wished to see that glimmer of warm care no matter how buried in his eye again. Even if he didn't want to admit it, it was there clear as a spring day. A bratty one he was but you grew accustomed to it, there was a certain charm in it you liked a sort of sweetness. Auntie Red often talked fondly about that part of him. As though it were a treasure and you could see why.
Now you lost it. This room never felt so deathly alone before, why! Why did you...clenching your hands to fists let them tremble violently. Curse that Undertaker...he ruined everything...he did...no, your fists slowly unfold and fall limply to your side, it wasn't his fault...if anything it had to be yours. You didn't think anything through, only your selfish thoughts clouded your judgment. Each one caused grief of some kind...some horrible grief that's made anything sweet you've eaten bitter.
Such an ache, you clench a hand over your heart, as though it was falling to piece you so desperately tried to keep together. Unaware of the figure that slowly crept upon you from behind.
"I assume you found nothing?" Sebastian speculated appearing from behind. Nearly startling you. Something that would have amused him, if you had reacted in a physical or verbal manner.
But you didn't. You hadn't the thought nor the desire to do it. Instead, you simply allowed the win and walked out without a single word. Much to his confusion and mild concern as much as a demon could give. Not a single word from you, he observed carefully as you walked down the hall not once stopping for him or allowing him to catch up (though he could instantly), unsure if this was some sort of game you were playing, the crestfallen look on your face told him no. Quietly he waited for you to mutter or mumble something that his ears could hear to solve this puzzling mystery. But, you said nothing. Providing no clue, a sensation came over him to reach out and take you by the wrist, stopping you and inquire what was...irking you. His hand twitches reacting to the speeding thought that crossed his mind, he held it back seconds too late and found himself behind you holding you by the wrist stopping you. He expected you to tense up...tremble or something, you didn't. You were...calm? In some way, no...defenseless. You were defenseless...naked almost with your feelings. Your burrows furrowed tightly and eyes burned with anger and pain he'd only seen you use for Harmony. No, this was different...this anger...this pain it was different. He opened his mouth to say something but closed it, seeing you had done the same.
The words were right there on tip of your tongue, all you had to do was say them...that's all you had to do. But, you couldn't. So you swallowed them and took your wrist back. At that moment Sebastian saw for a moment the way you switched from anger to dignify was uncanny to Ciel's, he nearly had to do a double-take. The repression was...it was...
"Forgive me," you straighten yourself, stand tall and poised, even your tone matched, "my mind was distracted. As for your question, I was unable to find anything that could helpful or beneficial. Every part of that office is spotless from top to bottom. Were you able to find anything, Sebastian?"
The way you said his name...wasn't the same, it upset him a bit, "No. Nothing as well. Though I managed to spot the Headmaster, he surprisingly avoided me."
That was surprising, "Really? Quite odd, we shall have to inform Ciel of this discovery. For a person to outrun a demon, well," you ruminate about it for a moment, "that seems highly unlikely."A familiar sudden chill ran up your spine, you nearly gasped, there was absolutely no way that was a possibility. That didn't stop your heart from being to race.
Sebastian heard it, "Ma-"
"We should head back to the others," you cut him off, "otherwise they will become concerned about our absence. Not to mention the tournament should be concluding soon. I must make sure not to be in these clothes it is unseemingly, not to mention if Aunt Francis seems me I will surely be scolded for centuries to come. Shall we?"
You hadn't turned around to him to flash a smirk or annoyed smile, Sebastian was disdained, but complied as you commanded; like Ciel. "Yes, Baroness." He bowed, scooped you up, and left.
What was a flash of the world around you, within seconds found yourself back outside near but not too close to the tournament. Sebastian delivered you to the tent Lau had set up for you. The moment your feet touched the ground Ran Mao came out with Lau. Who had his smile on for a second, it quickly dropped when he saw you. It was in a sour way more of a confusion. He watched you as did Sebastian as you followed Ran Mao into the tent to change.
"My, my whatever is the matter with my dear flower?" he sensed, directing to Sebastian, "Her aroma has somehow changed."
Sebastian said nothing, he didn't know what to say, Lau continued gazing up at the sky somberly for a moment. "Huh, how strange the winds seem to have changed, just as the seasons do. Whatever could that mean? I wonder."
"I'm ready," you come out changed back into the more proper attire of your status. Walk over to the demon, "let's go."
He bowed and followed after you, Lau, and Ran Mao trail behind. The moment you arrived Harmony sprung from Soma's lap, he still had her in his possession for safety Finny and Snake right by her. Her face lit up when she saw you, she was just about to say your name when the tournament drew her attention back. Soma noticed your presence, quickly he stood up. Carefully setting Harmony in Finny's lap who gladly held her much to Snake's jealousy.
"May, you're back," the prince smiled relieved, you politely smile back.
"Forgive me, I didn't mean to worry you," you apologize, "thank you for watching Harmony for me."
Soma paused for a moment, noticing something different about you, that he couldn't quite put a finger on that filled him with worry and sadness. It reflected in his eyes that locked strongly with yours for a moment. He felt something ache in his heart, quickly took your hands in his shot a jolt through you. You couldn't quite explain except...your heart froze for a moment to resuscitate seconds later; beating a rhythm it hadn't before. For a moment it as though it was talking to you...to speak...you struggled against. Closing your eyes to avoid Soma's burrowing ones softly yet firmly calling out to you. You felt his grip tighten, pleading if not demanding what was wrong.
The world around cease to exist, it fell numb and soundless. Breaking down now...you couldn't do that...you didn't have the right. And this right now...your hands trembled slightly, why was it so cold?
The golden shine your in eyes dimmed, Soma noticed, it frightened him, "May," he reached out to lay a hand on your cheek, pulled back when the crowd rang out in a thunderous cheer, you included. The game was over and the Blue House won!
