Kaiko

It was a snowy day. The air was cold and a bit windy but regardless of the weather, today Kaiko and her Mom were going out for popsicles.

Kaiko held her Mom's hand as they walked down to the local convenience store after school. She tried not to bounce around too much or walk too fast but she was very excited. Usually when her Mom takes her out for popsicles it's because something special is or going to happen.

In the store, Kaiko wondered for a second what her Mom could possibly want to tell her as she tried to find her favorite popsicle. It wasn't her birthday or anybody else's that she could remember and she hasn't gotten her report card or test scores back yet either. So what could it possibly be?

"Did something nice happen today Mama?" Kaiko asked before biting into her garigari-kun soda popsicle.

Her Mom smiled, "Yes, something really nice happened today."

Kaiko bounce up and down on her feet, getting excited again, "What is it?"

"Well…" Her Mom looked down thoughtfully, "How do you feel about having a little Brother?"

Kaiko actually thought about it. Having a younger sibling sounded nice to her. It'll be like having a playmate with you all the time.

Kaiko smiled, looking back up at her Mom, "I would love a little Brother!" Her eyes widen as she finally caught on, "Are we getting one?!"

She was practically leaping from excitement. Her Mom chuckled, "Yes. Yes, we are. We're picking him up tomorrow and I want you to come along with me. What do you think?"

Kaiko had the biggest smile on her face as she nodded her head to the plans.

She couldn't wait to see her new baby Brother!
