Request (Guest):Could you do a platonic Harry Potter one of Petunia Dursley and Lily Luna Potter where Petunia made amends with Harry sometime after the war and is now staying with him after her divorce from Vernon. She is awkward around Harry's family but has a small bond with Lily and one day the two talk outside as Petunia smokes a cigarette with a cigarette holder and the two become close
"THAT'S IT! I'M DONE! IF YOU INSULT MY SISTER ONE MORE TIME I'LL KILL YOU!" screamed Petunia as she slammed her hand on the table.
Vernon's eyes went wide.
"But-but you said…" he began
"AND I TAKE BACK WHAT I BLOODY SAID!" screamed Petunia, tears in her eyes.
"SHE'S MY SISTER! WHERE DO YOU THINK I WAS WHEN I PICKED THE BOY FROM THE DOORSTEP AND WALKED OFF? I WAS CRYING BECAUSE I LOST MY LAST RELATIVE! That-that boy had her eyes….Lily's eyes...I regret everything I've ever said about her and now I'll never be able to take it back because SHE'S DEAD! I WANT A DIVORCE!" she yelled
She had divorced him; it felt like a huge weight had been lifted from her. She shivered. She'd gone to visit Dudley and asked where Harry lived, after all he and Dudley had reconciled. If this had happened years ago she would've been enraged, but not today.
She stood in front of the door of the Potter residence with her coat and a suitcase. She pressed the doorbell quickly and prayed that no one answered so that she could be off on her way.
Soon the door opened.
"Hi!" greeted a small red-haired girl who looked so much like….Lily.
"Lily?" Petunia asked in disbelief.
The girl gasped.
"See James! I told you Great Aunt Petunia would remember my name!" she yelled across her shoulder
"Great Aunt-? Wait!" called a familiar voice as Harry Potter showed up behind the girl called Lily.
"Aunt Petunia….What-what brings you here?" asked Harry, shock and fierceness in his voice
"I-I wanted to ask if I could stay here, I got a divorce from Vernon and I thought you could welcome me in." Petunia responded
Harry blinked in surprise.
"I-..." he began
"Harry? What's wrong?" asked a female voice as a taller red haired woman came and stood beside Harry.
Petunia could've also mistaken her for Lily if it weren't for her eye color.
"I..know I wasn't kind to you before, but I just need a place to stay for now, please."
Harry sighed
"Alright then, come in." Harry said as the girl named Lily, the older red-haired woman made way for her as she entered the Potter residence.
What surprised Petunia was that the house was quite cozy.
It was a bit messy, which bothered her, but it was nice, warm and cozy. Nothing fancy.
"Aunt Petunia, this is my wife, Ginny." Harry said as he motioned to the older red-head.
Petunia gave her a small wave
"Hello," she said softly.
"Hello, Harry has told me a lot about you." she said in a kind, yet stern voice.
Petunia gulped, these were witches and wizards, maybe she shouldn't have come here.
"My oldest, James," Harry began as a boy with brown eyes, black hair and the look of a troublemaker was outside playing with Lily.
"My middle child, Albus, he's outside with James and my youngest Lily, whom you just met." Harry added.
"Thank you...Harry." Petunia responded as Harry had begun to walk towards the kitchen and stopped.
"You're welcome Aunt Petunia," Harry said as he grabbed his wand and motioned Petunia to follow him upstairs.
He opened the door with a flick of his wand and it swung open.
"You can stay in this guest room for now Aunt Petunia, I'll tell the kids that you're here so they don't bother you much, is that alright?" Harry asked
"Yes, thank you." Petunia said as Harry walked away and down the steps as she turned on the light switch and set her suitcase on the bed.
She didn't know what she expected, of course, they were wizards, did she really expect a cottage like those told in fairy tales with wicked cauldrons?
Maybe.
But then again, her sister was a witch and everything in this house was like a normal house, the only difference is that they used magic.
Petunia placed her clothes inside the closet and grabbed a pack of cigars.
She had gotten a pack as she came towards the Potter residence and decided to save them for later.
As the days went by Petunia did her best to not bother the Potter family. Lily and James were quite energetic, Albus on the other hand was more calm and peaceful.
As she sat down for dinner she didn't speak but listened in, during the conversations.
"Ginny, we need to get James and Albus new robes for the next school year." Harry called as he flicked his wand and began to wash the dishes.
"Already?!" Ginny called in frustration
"James Sirius Potter get back here!" Ginny yelled as Petunia stood up and began to pick up the dishes.
"Is something wrong Aunt Petunia?" Harry asked as Petunia set the plates down.
"Er- Oh no, I'm... fine…" Petunia replied
"Are you sure?"
"Yes er- I'm sure, I'm just trying to get adjusted to this." Petunia said as she gestured the house
"Yeah, it takes a while to adjust, My mum surely took a while to adjust…." Harry mumbled
Petunia didn't know what to say so she excused herself and went upstairs as she grabbed her pack of cigars and a cigarette holder went outside.
She went out back in the backyard, but little did she know that a certain young redhead had followed her outside. Petunia grabbed a yard chair and dragged it along with her as she sat in a nice grassy spot on her yard chair and grabbed the cigars and cigarette holder as she lit up the cigarette and began to smoke.
Petunia didn't really smoke, but now she was alone, she wouldn't care less.
"Great Aunt Petunia, do you know smoking is not good for you?" asked Lily as Petunia jumped and stared at the young girl wide-eyed.
"What- are you doing here?" Petunia asked wide eyed and shocked.
"I wanted to spend time with you." Lily replied
"Spend time with me?!"
"Yes, I know you weren't very nice to dad, but I wanted to spend time with you because you seem lonely." Lily explained
"Er-alright." Petunia said as Lily sat down on the floor
"Are you-" Petunia began
"I'm comfy here." Lily said
"Okay, then." Petunia said as she lifted the cigar holder and glanced at Lily
"It won't bother me, it's just now that James and Albus are leaving for Hogwarts soon, I'll be lonely again, I have mom and dad, but I like spending time with James and Albus too you know?" Lily explained
Petunia nodded, she knew that feeling when Lily had gone to Hogwarts, even though she denied it, she dearly missed her sister during those months she was off.
"Yes, I understand" Petunia found herself saying
"When your grandmother, Lily, went off to Hogwarts, I pretended it didn't affect me, when she left during the time being, but in reality it did, I could feel her absence, the house always felt quite empty without here, I want to consider her the life and soul of the party. When I saw you and your mother, Ginny, I couldn't help but be so reminded of Lily. Except for the eyes, I see Albus and Harry got Lily's eyes." Petunia commented
"Yes! They did! Dad and Al have the same eyes! Dad said that mum reminded her of his mum! What a coincidence don't you think?" Lily cried excitedly.
"Yes...yes I do…." Petunia said softly as she lowered the cigarette holder.
"Did you love your sister?" whispered Lily
"Yes-yes I did and I still do, I love her very much and I-I miss her." Petunia choked, tears welling up in her eyes.
"I'm so sorry Great Aunt petunia!" Lily wailed as she stood up and hugged Petunia
Petunia was shocked and slowly she returned the embrace.
"I understand, it's okay to feel lonely…" Petunia whispered
"It-it is?" Lily said in a muffled voice
"Absolutely." Petunia replied as she sat Lily in her lap as they both gazed at the sunset together.
