Chapter Text

Six years have passed...

Izuku sat looking at the tablet Auntie Mitsuki had gotten for his 8th birthday and Izuku couldn't be happier, he could finally conduct research into new chemicals without asking his mother beforehand. The wealth of all human knowledge sat at his fingertips and Izuku decided to start working on his latest formula, something that every aspiring hero fanboy dreamed about and was employed by one of the current top pros, Midnight herself.

Izuku scrolled through more and more formulas being saddened as he kept reading it seemed every chemical agent came with some risk of causing permanent injury when used against another human, Izuku couldn't possibly use anything that could potentially kill or permanently maim them. There had to be one, c'mon just one Izuku begged silently, the most promising option Carfentanil had been used successfully to end a hostage situation saving many of the lives of the people there, it also however killed 800 people at this event, roughly 15%. Those odds were too massive for the boy to dare use against another human, seriously using this has a nearly 1 out of 5 chance to kill the person, there has to be something better. Izuku sighed shutting down his tablet, as he heard someone stomping into the house.

"OI Deku, stop playing with your nerd shit and let's go for a run." Bakugo paused as he saw the dejected look on the boy's face. "What's wrong nerd? Misplaced a fucking neutron or something?"

Izuku sighed as he deflated more. "No I wanna make some kind of sleeping gas to use as a weapon like Midnight can but all of the available options have a chance to kill the person I'm using them on. I know you're all for DIE and all that Kacchan but if I wanted to kill someone I'd just use a regular gun, not that I'm saying I'm going too."

"Sounds like you just fixed your own problem you idiot." Bakugo laughed as he plopped down into a rolly chair and slid over to the boy.

"Wait how?" Izuku looked up from his tablet.

"Instead of relying on what people already made, why don't you make something new?" Kacchan smirked.

"I do not trust myself to do that Kacchan, if I mess up who knows what I could do on accident!?" Deku nearly screamed in horror, what if he made something horrible like Mustard Gas on accident.

"Yeah but you're not trusting yourself here?" Deku's confused face made him laugh. "Oi Deku am I really gonna have to spill it out for you?"

"I'm really not sure where you're going with this Kacchan."

"Find out what Midnight's gas is made of duh. Shit for being as smart as you are, you're kinda dumb Deku." Bakugo laughed again.

Izuku's eyes lit up instantly, of course Midnight's gas was created by her, but that didn't mean whatever her gas was made up of had to be an organic compound, in fact most gases aren't. If he could get a sample of her quirk he could very possibly reverse engineer the chemical makeup of it, and Izuku might just be able to make whatever it is! "OH MY GOD KACCHAN YOU'RE A GENIUS!"

"Of course I am, you just figuring that out?" The explosion user scoffed. He watched as Deku tried to bolt but Bakugo firmly stopped him. "Where do you think your going, we got our 5k to run."

"C'mon Kacchan we literally might be able to create a new compound. Doesn't that excite you at the very least?" Izuku pleaded.

"Not in the slightest, now c'mon, we don't even know how to get her to agree to giving you what you want. We can brainstorm while we run, we know thanks to your constant nerding out she works for U.A., we can try contacting her through the school or something." Bakugo explained as he dragged the boy out of the room.

"But KACHANNNNNNNNNN-"

Inko looked at her son and her surrogate son enjoying each others company and smiled. "You two have a good run!" She called out after them.

"You bet we will Auntie Inko." Bakugo smiled back at the woman.

Izuku was huffing as he laid up against a vending machine. "Did ... we ... really ... need ... to ... sprint ... the ... last ... kilometer?"

"Yeah you weren't taking training seriously Deku, I know your mind's racing thinking about formulas and shit. Sometimes you just gotta trust your instincts." Bakugo proudly exclaimed.

"Yeah ... sure ... whatever." Izuku fell over wheezing on the ground. "At least ... the skies ... pretty." Izuku felt the other boy land on the ground next to him.

"So how many different formulas for sleeping gasdid you look over before realizing it ain't gonna work anyway." Bakugo asked while looking towards the sky.

"Like six, I memorized two of them, they aren't as effective and nowhere near as dangerous but can cause a person's liver to fail if subjected to large doses." Izuku's breathing had come back under control finally.

"Still seems useful, and that shit about guns back there were you serious?" Bakugo turned to face the nerd.

"Uh yeah? It was a lot easier than you might think. I uh, after the scare with that doctor chasing me down I thought it best to have something like it in the case of an emergency." Izuku explained.

"Yeah that fucker sent someone to our door trying to find out where you two disappeared too. Deku you gotta keep your quirk on the downlow, the hag was right. You can literally shit cash, in the wrong hands that could do some serious damage. Hell I bet if you wanted to and knew the right formula you could just plant a nuke here and dip, imagine a villain with that quirk." Bakugo explained.

"Yeahhhhhhh." Izuku had realized just how dangerous his quirk was the second he made that first grenade, quirk traffickers were a very real threat. In order to protect the boy his Mom had his quirk labeled as Plastic Creation, that's it, nothing more. The creation user learned quickly just how much people wanted to snag him after that first little incident, it'd been a hell of a wake up call. His Father and Mother quickly found a new apartment and moved after that.

Izuku went home that day and googled how expensive certain precious materials were by ounce and the numbers astounded him, the gold block he'd given both his Mom and Auntie Mitsuki were each worth roughly 20 million dollars. When he brought that fact up with two people they both quickly decided to dump the blocks and pretend they never existed in the first place. How was a six year old supposed to know a small block of Gold was worth that kind of money?! Hell things like Rhodium were worth almost double the value of Gold, Izuku finally understood what his parents meant by collapsing the global economy. "It's a good thing I swore off of the radioactive side of the table of elements isn't it then Kacchan?"

"We both you'd never do that, but what if someone took Auntie Inko hostage and forced you to do it? You get what I mean right Deku?" Bakugo darkly explained from the floor beside him.

Izuku let out a weak groan. "Yeah, you're right Kacchan, as always."

"I know I am Deku." The boy laughed while standing before grabbing Izuku's arm and pulling him up as well. "Alright, now that we've gotten this dark shit out of the way, let's take a nice stroll back to Auntie Inko's. I'm in the mood for some of her cooking." Bakugo had a smug expression on his face as he looked at his bestie.

"Fair enough." Izuku rolled his shoulders getting the knots out. "... Hey Kacchan?"

"Yeah?" Kacchan turned.

"Thanks." Izuku gave him a bright smile.

Bakugo flushed for a bit before turning. "Don't thank me you stupid nerd, were in this together, simple as that."

A fist bump and a light jog later and they were back at the Midoriya's house. "We need to stop running everywhere." Izuku whined.

"Pssh it'll help you in the long run, besides we gotta find a way to mess with your metabolism. For normal people having a good metabolism its a good thing, for you it's shit. Aren't there pills that slow it or some shit?" Bakugo asked the air.

"I think so. Also I read that eating a singular big meal once a day instead of having a lot of tiny meals can slow a metabolism, so thats one of the things I'm trying. I wonder how jealous the average woman would be to have a quirk that makes it so you can't get fat?" Izuku wondered aloud.

"I think most people would be more jealous about the part where you literally shit money Deku, but that's just me." Bakugo shrugged.

"Eh probably." Izuku also shrugged but then opened the front door. "We're back Mom!" Izuku called out into his apartment.

"Yeah I made sure your dumbass of a son made it back Auntie." Bakugo laughingly added.

"Oh you're both back earlier than I thought. I figured you'd go to the arcade or something after your run." Inko yelled from the kitchen.

"Eh we would've but Deku wanted to ask uncle Hisashi to do him a favour." The explosion user grumbled.

"Oh and what would that be?" The older Midoriya appeared from what looked to be the kitchen if her apron had anything say about it.

"Can he get into contact with U.A. and ask Midnight for a sample of her quirk?" Izuku asked with puppy dog eyes.

"Whatever for Izu?" The woman tilted her head at the strange request.

"Deku wants to see if he can reverse engineer Midnight's quirk to make sleeping gas, I can't tell if the nerd is trying to copy every hero under the sun or just invalidate them. He copied my grenades already." Bakugo grumbled under his breath.

"That might be possible." The woman stopped for a second as she thought aloud. "Let's see it's 2pm now so it'd be 9pm there, he should be up, let me give him a call." Inko said before walking over to the homephone and punching some numbers in, it ringed for several seconds before a tired voice responded.

Inko turned speaker mode on so everybody could hear. "Hey dear, what can I do for you?" Hisashi sounded absolutely exhausted.

"Oh is this a bad time honey? Izuku was wondering if you'd be willing to do him a favor." Inko asked the phone.

"I suppose I can what does our little boy need? And no worries I was just getting ready for bed." Hisashis weary reply came.

Izuku took the phone from his Mom. "Hey Dad I don't suppose you have some way to contact U.A. do you? I wanted to get a sample of the Pro Hero: Midnight's quirk. I was thinking since you do quirk research maybe you've worked for them before?"

There was a large pause followed by what sounded like a slap. "I've never worked directly for U.A. but I have some clout, I could potentially get into contact with somebody who works there if the rumors are true about who I'm thinking of. Can I ask what brought this on?" Hisashi sounding much more awake responded.

"I want to try and recreate Midnight's quirk with my own, I'd really like to have some kind of sleeping agent to safely subdue people." Izuku responded giddily, like a child asking for a new toy.

There was another large pause before a sigh. "You know I can never say no to you Izuku, give me a couple days and I'll see what I can do. Is that enough of an answer for now?"

"Yes Dad. Thank you!" Izuku happily responded.

"Yeah yeah, love you too son, and oh. I know we said we weren't going to abuse your quirk but I could use some materials at the lab if you wouldn't mind. I could send you a list, it'd be a huge help for me and some of the other researchers." Hisashi felt a little bad about using his son like this but it wasn't like it cost him anything.

"Sure thing Dad! I'll get em sent over immediately." Izuku didn't care in the slightest, soon he might have sleeping gas. He'd been trying forever to make the stuff and maybe his hard work would pay off finally.

"Six years, you've had six years to capture the boy and yet you still fail me. If you were not absolutely vital to my plans I would've disposed of you a long time ago Doctor." The voice sounded none too pleased at the current change of events.

"I-it's not my fault sir, they keep moving like every six months, everytime I think I've tracked them down they've already moved o-on..." The man was shivering under the aura the man was leaking.

"Then I'm going to give you an old asset to assist you, I suppose I should think only of my own failings this time around. I have never put you on a mission like this one before after all." A light chuckle escaped the man's lips.

"Y-yes, O-of Course I'll have the boy within a week, but what may I ask is this asset?" The doctor pleadingly looked up, realizing that his execution would not be today.

"Something that'll make it quite easy to grab someone in public...
