Chapter Text
The Next Day
The massive gates of U.A. greeted two different families.
Katsuki looked out of the car at his goal, his life's dream, and cringed. "Deku I fucking hate you." An angry blonde haired teen commented before being smacked by his mother.
"I told you to stop using that fucking language brat!" Mitsuki yelled at her kid.
"Hahhhhh, you old hag, double fucking standards if I ever heard em!" Bakugo was rubbing his head from the pain.
"I'm an adult I'm allowed to curse!"
Izuku tried to diffuse the situation. "I mean I got us into U.A., that's something? Right Kacchan?" Izuku joked weakly.
"I didn't wanna get here like this you dumb nerd. This wasn't earned, we've just been thrown in the fucking witness protection program or some shit. This doesn't count and you know it!" Bakugo grabbed and pulled his suitcase out of the car.
Izuku fell in on himself as his friend screamed at him. "I'm sorry Kacchan I didn't mean it."
Bakugo sighed. "Deku I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at the fuckers who caused this. Whatever I'll just prove my worth tenfold, get accepted anyway. Bakugo Katsuki does not take handouts!"
"Good to see your excited kid." Aizawa opened U.A.'s gate as he stared at the two families. "Well, welcome to U.A., Nedzu wanted to have a meeting with you all before I show you all to your rooms."
"Is it really okay that were here? I'm a small time lawyer, I don't how much I could help a team as grand as U.A." Inko felt intimidated by the idea.
"The rat already found you all positions, and I promise you. He wasn't disappointed in any of you. Trust me it's fine." Aizawa continued.
Mitsuki grabbed Inko's hand before giving a squeeze and whispered to her. "You got this okay? And we're not mad, we don't blame you or Izuku."
"But we changed your life so much. You guys shouldn't have to be moving with us..."
Masaru being a quiet man only talking when necessary finally spoke. "Inko, we have no problems with this. I was a business consultant and now I work for U.A., as far as I'm concerned this was a huge promotion. It's just a shame Hisashi couldn't be here with us. Would've been nice to have a drinking buddy." He lamented.
"Hmm strange how similar the name was too his friend's name." Aizawa muttered before continuing. "You might like Hizashi and Nemuri then, both love a good drink after work. Snipe joins us occasionally, I don't interact with the advertising group so I wouldn't know about them, however feel free to join us whenever. As for our lawyer team don't worry Ms. Midoriya you'll do fine, they're highly efficient and you'll get up to speed in no time. Now let's continue on we don't want to leave Nedzu waiting. Also take these." Aizawa held out a bunch of passes for each individual to take. "These are your ID's, don't lose them or you won't be able to get back onto campus if you leave."
Aizawa turned and started walking. "Oh and leave that Bakugo, the robots will handle it."
Bakugo was still struggling with his heavy suitcase. "Robots?" His question was answered when a small droid approached grabbing the bag and taking it. "Huh." Katsuki was dumbfounded at the sight but figured this WAS U.A. so he said fuck it.
Izuku was equally shocked by the site as he watched his All Might merch get carried off. "Please don't break anything." Izuku silently begged the mechanical creations.
Aizawa started explaining as the families walked. "Up ahead you can see the main building, that's where we'll be meeting Nedzu." He then pointed to the left. "The school resources are that way, such as the Gyms and track field, and to our right we have forest and greenery areas. We can't see it at the moment but directly behind the main building are the dorms. That's where we'll be going after our talk with the principal."
"SHOUTAAAAAAAA!" An extremely loud voice distracted the man.
Aizawa's eyes flashed red for a bit. "Don't make me use my quirk Hizashi, I don't need you screaming in my ear."
The two families stared at the man but Izuku's eyes went wide. "You're Present Mic! The Voice hero!"
"That I am little listener, are you the people Shouta saved from that kidnapper?" Present Mic asked with a booming voice and massive smile.
"Yeah he was so cool! I listen to your radio show every week!" Izuku beamed at the man.
"I guess you really are a little listener then." The Cockatiel haired man smiled back.
Inko however had a frown on her voice. "You told him?" She asked the black haired pro hero.
"Only the vague details, nothing specific plus you can trust him. I've known Mic my entire life, he's also here to help with the tour so he would've found out eventually." Aizawa explained to the elder Midoriya.
"O-okay." Inko didn't look completely reassured.
"Now then let's start the tour, let me introduce you to the main hall!" Present Mic shouted as he opened the massive main doors to U.A.
"This place is so big." Masaru commented.
"Indeed, I can see why Katsuki and Izuku were so set on coming here." Mitsuki answered her husband.
The walk to Nedzu's office was mostly small talk as Present Mic explained things about the school. "The third floor is where all the teacher's rooms are as well as meeting rooms, if you go down this hall you can see the Teacher's lounge if you ever need to talk to one." He pointed to the left as the got onto the third floor. "This way is where we're going today, Nedzu wanted to conduct this meeting in one of the side rooms since we have a decently large group."
"Kacchan were at U.A.!" Izuku whisper shouted to his best friend.
"Yeah I know Deku. Maybe you could meet Midnight and get that gas straight from her instead of your dad." Bakugo was internally fanboying just as much but doing much better to keep it under control.
"Annnddddd were here! I think you're going to love our dear Nedzu, he's very cheery and will treat you all right. Don't you worry about that." Hizashi gave them a wide smile before opening the door. "We're here sir!"
The two families were greeted by a beady eyed mouse? Rat? scanning them up and down with his rapidly shifting eyes. "What am I, a bear? A Mouse? A Rat? Who knows? I'm principal Nedzu and it's my pleasure to meet you all, though I wish it could be under better circumstances." Nedzu jumped down from his chair before walking up to the party. "I have tea and crumpets if you are finding yourselves famished or parched. Please sit, we have much to discuss."
Izuku was barely containing his inner fanboy, Nedzu was so cool. Quirked animals were so rare, and one with an intelligence boosting quirk even more so. "It's an honor to meet you Principal Nedzu!" Izuku bowed as he looked at the creature.
"Ah Izuku Midoriya, it is a pleasure to meet you as well but feel free to call me Nedzu or Sir, that applies to you all as well. I am truly sorry about what happened and I promise to do my best to keep you and your family safe while you remain on the premise of U.A. That protection applies to the Bakugo's as well of course. I've heard from Aizawa that you wish to be heroes in the future?" Nedzu asked as he pushed a tea kettle forward which Inko accepted before pouring herself a cup.
"Um yes me and Kacchan both want to be heroes more than anything." Izuku weakly added.
"I don't want no fucking special treatment, I'm going to earn my place here, you got that Nedzu!" Katsuki bit out with a growl.
"You're a feisty one aren't you? I like that." Nedzu's eyes focused on the explosive boy which caused even the tenacious boy to shudder. "Worry not, I will do no such thing and with your quirks and talents I have no doubt you'll accomplish your goal. I heard from Aizawa how you two pretty much single handedly subdued the gunman for him. While I shouldn't praise illegal quirk usage, you both thought quickly and managed to protect yourselves and I must say that is commendable."
Izuku was blushing while rubbing the back of his head.
Bakugo just had a smug grin on his face, of course he was rad.
Mitsuki cut in. "So I have to ask, how's this going to work? My brat was joking about it earlier but you're basically throwing us in the witness protection program."
"That is a fair point, and I suppose it you think there is some major reason when really there is not. We are heroes and YOU are civilians in danger, as such we want to help you. Besides it could be beneficial to all parties involved. You get protection from those people hounding you, you get a stable career here at U.A., and your life can continue mostly normally. As for U.A. we get two very promising students for the future, we get some motivated workers, and I get to sleep soundly at night knowing I saved some people who needed it." The rat gave a bright smile at the end before taking a sip of his tea. "As for how this is going to work it's pretty simple, I'll be these two's teacher from now on. I haven't personally taught in a while but I was a great teacher when that was my job before I became the principal. On the side we can even train their quirks as they grow up and in four years when they become 15 they can officially enroll here and become true students of U.A. As for you three, you've already seen the job offers I've given you. Are these satisfying to you?"
Mitsuki and Masaru both nodded, honestly it seemed more than fair for them but Inko had a worried look on her face. "You're not just doing this because you want to use my son are you?"
Nedzu's gaze swapped to the green haired woman. "Why of course not Mrs. Midoriya, I simply wish to help your son grow both as a person and as a hero. His quirk is certainly something U.A. would like to possess you are not wrong. However I will not force him to do anything he himself does not want to do. Does this answer convince you?"
Inko wasn't sure but nodded anyway. "It's not like we have much of a choice, we accept. Thank you so much Nedzu." Inko bowed to the creature.
"Now now, I told you this is beneficial to both parties, you have no need to thank me. Now do you all have any questions for me? I'd be happy to answer any of them."
"How does use of the on campus facilities work?" Masaru asked.
"Most simply allow a person to waltz in and make use of them, at least the public facilities do. Though if you plan on making use of the greenhouse you will need to apply for a plot of land to use in there."
"Does that include the gyms?" Bakugo asked out loud.
"Why yes! Help yourself to any of the facilities on campus, though if you are going to be doing anything dangerous do please find a teacher before hand."
"Perfect." Bakugo's grin was manic, he finally had a reliable place to test his quirk out that the hag wouldn't yell at him for noise complaints.
"Um can I get an autograph?" Izuku asked sheepishly.
Bakugo sputtered. "Of course you would you hero nerd, may as well ask Midnight for that gas sample as well!" He gave Deku a clap on the shoulder as he laughed.
"I knew I heard the name Midoriya somewhere. Were you the one who sent that request in?" Nedzu turned his eyes to the younger Midoriya.
"Oh uh that was my dad, though I did ask him to do it. I wanted to try and use my quirk to copy Midnight's Gas since the currently existing sleeping agents are far too dangerous to be used while fighting villains." Izuku explained.
"And I can see why you would, Midnight is an excellent example of a hero. I shall see if I can get her to stop by sometime, your quirk is quite fascinating to me and I'd love to see some potential applications. I don't suppose you'd mind explaining it to me in greater detail would you?" Nedzu's expression changed to one of great excitement, which was noticed by every person in the room.
"Oh sure." Izuku held up his hand before creating a plastic cup. "Polyethylene, better known as plastic. My quirk let's me create any non living material as long as I know the chemical make up, have enough lipids to create it and then I think of a shape I want. I'm sure you already know it's why the bad guys are after me, I wish I didn't have such a scary quirk." Izuku lamented.
"My dear boy, you are blessed, not cursed. The fault for this lies solely with the people who are trying to capture you, I have no doubt you will make an amazing hero in the future. So please do not put yourself down." Nedzu paused for a second. "Speaking of, I thought you all might like to know the investigation into catching your assailants took a good turn. The man spilled everything in a plea deal, we may have them caught within the week." Nedzu cheerily said.
"R-really?" Inko was aghast, the problem that had been following them for over half a decade, solved in a week.
"Indeed!" Nedzu looked at his watch. "Well I think this has been a good meeting but I am a very busy bear so I must away. Present Mic and Eraserhead will guide you around the rest of campus and get you all settled in. The robots have already deposited all of your belongings at your new abodes. I wish you all to have a good day." Nedzu stood and started walking out of the room but then remembered. "Ah I almost forgot, here you go." Nedzu pulled out a piece of paper then held it out to Izuku. "You wanted my autograph did you not?" One more lightbulb went off as the Rat stared at the boy. "That reminds me, Aizawa mentioned you created two foot by foot blocks of Au. If you need us to we can take care of those for you and retrieve them for you. Leaving them laying in the ground seems like both a waste and a potential hazard should they be discovered."
Inko spoke up. "See you're already trying to use him!" She angrily shouted.
"Mrs. Midoriya, I asked to retrieve the blocks for him, not the school. Please don't misunderstand." Nedzu corrected her.
Inko grumbled a bit but the mouse did say it was for Izuku. "Fine, I'm sorry."
"No worries Mrs. Midoriya, I just hope you can come to trust me in the future." Nedzu cheerily stated before holding out the autograph.
Izuku snatched the thing out of the man's hand before looking at it. "Thank you so much! And absolutely if you could, one of those Au blocks was actually the first real thing I ever made so it kinda has sentimental value!" Izuku shouted as he bowed.
"It's no problem just tell me the locations and I'll send someone over, good-bye everyone!" Nedzu gave another bright smile before departing for real.
Present Mic was the first to speak. "Well I think you all made a good impression on him, it's hard to tell what he's thinking sometimes but he looked overjoyed to have you all here."
Aizawa just grunted. "Can you take care of the tour Mic? I had to pull another all nighter, I'm exhausted."
"No worries Shouta I got you! Alright listeners this is now a solo tour. If you'll follow me I'll take you to your new housing then we can get some grub, Lunchrush was dying to make some food for a new crowd. Trust me, you'll love his cooking."
Inko was quite famished and the idea of being cooked for by a world famous chef made her stomach rumble a bit causing her to blush. "Sorry." She whimpered.
"Is my bestie Inko hungry?" Mitsuki bumped into her.
"Don't tease me Mitsuki."
"Fine, fine."
"Alright let's get this show on the road!" Present Mic shouted as he boldly led the group out towards the housing area. "You see this housing was built for U.A. teachers, it's a lot easier to sleep on campus than off as we often need to do hero duties in addition to our job as teachers. For example I also run a radio show that a certain little listener enjoys." Mic smiled at Izuku.
The rest of the tour was filled with small talk, jokes, and various small comments about the massive school. The greenhouse in particular was something Inko was really excited to use in her future as a lawyer of U.A. Honestly the thought still struck her, U.A., she was going to be on U.A.'s legal team. The whiplash from going from a small time lawyer to the big leagues was jarring. They handled cases that resulted in the laws of the country changing, she was used to minor property disputes or muggings. Not things that could literally change the future of Japan.
She sighed as she watched her son excitedly move about, asking question after question. He was so happy, that was one positive to come out of this. She should probably just focus on moving in for now, she had could do this, if only for him.
"And now we arrive at Su casa!" Present Mic handed a few keys to the Bakugos' before turning and handing one to Inko and Izuku. "And your house is right here! It's a tad bit modest considering U.A. made it of all things but it should do nicely. You all can go in and get settled, I'll be back in thirty minutes and then I'll show you the rest of campus and we can grab some lunch. See you later listeners!" Mic shouted as he walked off.
"He seems nice Izuku." Inko gave a bright smile to her son.
"Yeah he's so cool!" Izuku exclaimed.
"Well let's go examine our newest house for a bit, you need to start unpacking. You got all of your merch right? Wouldn't want to leave any of it behind, it was quite expensive."
"Don't worry Mom I did." Izuku smiled as he started fumbling with the key to the house before unlocking it. A sad smile crossed his face a few seconds later though. "I did have to sell some though..."
Inko noticed the sad look on her son and made a mental note to find some of the stuff he sold and rebuy it.
Izuku then opened the door before the pair entered and what greeted them was nothing short of amazing, a fully furnished penthouse sized condo. "W-wow..." Inko's family wasn't poor by any means but neither were they this well off. She could have easily abused her son's quirk to make money but she refused to do that for multiple reasons, the first being the risk somebody would track them down. The second was that if her son wanted he could make her something, she wouldn't push him to do it.
"This place is amazing." Izuku commented as he strode into to check the kitchen, the fridge was fully stocked with some common amenities. "Fridge's full Mom!" Izuku shouted.
Inko on the other hand had gone to check the second floor, it had 4 bedrooms 2 bathrooms. The woman quickly walked down the hall and found her room was full of boxes and sighed as unpacking was certainly going to be a troublesome thing. Leaving it as a problem for later she went back down to the bottom floor to find Izuku had turned on the T.V.
"I was checking the channels, I was hoping they had on demand." Izuku cheered as he found the show he was looking for.
Inko suppressed a giggle as she watched her son favorite "How it's Made".
A knock to the front door caused the pair to turn, the Bakugo's had come over. Mitsuki spoke first. "I wanted to see your guy's place but man U.A. really lives up to its name huh Inko."
"It really does Mitsuki." Maybe just maybe, life here wouldn't be so bad and eventually they could leave once they were safe. Inko smiled at the thought.
