…Doctor Who…
- Between Feather and Stone -
.
We find the Tardis located on Earth, in Coal Hill, more precisely an old scrap yard, on the wooden gates it read in white lettering; - I.M. Foreman Scrap Merchants. -
"Ha.' the doctor lightly laughed, from inside the Tardis. 'back to where it all started… Susan and I…"
The doctor in truth had never forgotten this place, it had been after all the first location the doctor had been forced to settle upon following the day, in a male form, the doctor had come to make the decision to flee the place she had called home. 'even though I was all together a different person back then!" she ended.
The doctor looked around the Tardis. "Ah, you too, my girl!" she stated, speaking to the Tardis, a hand softly on the console.
The doctor even though she would never have admitted it to herself out loud had only returned to the scrap yard due to her wish and need to get to grips with her emotions and to find comfort in the loss that had come to her yet again.
.
This old wooden blue police box caught the eyes of two types of people, one - those who saw it as the old police call box, knowing what it actually was and once used for, with them having thoughts along the line of 'just why as such a historical relic like this been dumped and left to be long forgotten in Foreman's.' Or two - those people who had seen this one blue box out of its time frame of the 60's; with one lady who had happened to walk past the merchant's yard ; thinking that she had once seen the flicker of the blue box, but had long since put that image out of her mind for more logical reasoning. After all, some have trouble believing in things that they don't understand, even when they see it with their own eyes.
.
Later one evening around 8ish, an officer had been made aware of strange noises in the scrap yard and had come to investigate, he checked that the gates were locked, shone his torch through the gaps of the wooden fence, but couldn't really find anything untoward.
The city's clock bell chimed three in the morning, and he checked his watch and then clicked his chest clipped radio, and called it in "There is nothing of importance here to report, I reckon it's nothing more than a false alarm!"
"Okay, Reg, thanks for checking it out… you head back now!"
The officer took one last look over his shoulder before walking away to continue on his beat.
.
The Tardis had been standing there within this small scrap yard for the past five months now; and from time to time a figure would come to leave this plain blue box either at first light of dawn or at first shade of dusk , each time with her hoodies' hood pulled up, as the figure had hoped not to be seen, not to draw any attention to herself.
.
The doctor as she stood now in the doorway of the Tardis, suddenly paused as she came to hear the laughter of a shared joke or comment, the doctor turned to look back over her shoulder for a split second; choosing to look at those who were still out at such a late hour; it was a couple a pair of lovers.
'Ha!' she thought in jest to herself, 'just look at you both… living your life in peace… tranquillity... neither one of you knowing that just a few feet away was something… something that could open your mind… something that change your views on everything you've ever known with in a blink of an eye.' rubbing the door with her hand.
The doctor turned her head back around, looking forward now into the Tardis, before fully stepping inside, the doors on their own closing behind her.
.
Back within the Tardis, the doctor stood on her own before the Tardis' console room, for once the Tardis to this incarnation of the doctor felt so small, so cold, the doctor giving a slight shiver. "The fam" sadly gone, two dead and one, shortly after that taking the decision to step away, it had truly been a hard pill for the doctor to yet again swallow, as the doctor had never liked to deal with events like these.
The doctor seemed to lower somewhat into her shoulders, as she turned to look down at the centre console with these emotions crushing her hearts, the doctor came to the abrupt conclusion that, 'I need to get away… ' holding a finger up in the air. ' yes that is it… get as far away from earth as possible… as the earth for me now only holding dark and soulful memories. I will find those far away, in far off galaxies or time, that still call for aid!'
And on that thought, the doctor leaned on in and with no smile sets the controls, here pressing buttons pulling levers and flicking switches all in some order, after all the doctor is still driven on by the desire to protect those in need.
.
- Vwhoorrrp. - - vwhoorrrp. - -v whoorrrp. - sounded the Tardis as it faded away into nothing.
.
Under the somewhat makeshift and greatly haphazard control and guidance of the doctor the Tardis travelled on from Earth, hurtling through all time and space, taking the doctor far away, until it landed on a far flung distant planet, one new to the doctor and more importantly different to that of Earth. "Now then my girl, let's see where you've chosen to take me?" questioned the doctor, speaking here to the Tardis.
.
A male Kay'lah soldier suddenly stopped, in his tracks, as something pricked his ears. His leader out of the corner of his eye saw this and turned to him, stating. "What is the meaning of this, our enemy is at our feet… the Reunet must be stopped , all must be captured!"
He looked around, for a second not answering his group's leader. "Can you hear that?" he asked of the others. There were six other soldiers around him.
"Leave it out... its just the wind in the trees.' stated the leader, governed more by the need to fight on than taking in what was happening. 'Now get back in line." he commanded.
The sound was more clearer now, slowly the others heard the grind and screech, a sound none on this planet had heard before.
"This way!" called out the leader, as he too had now taken the time to hear this strange sound that had gained the soldier's attention. The leader here pointed west, his arm out stretched, now so determined to find out what this new sound was. 'A weapon of the Reunet… or something far worse.' were his thoughts as he led the way.
.
The doctor stretched out her hand and took hold of the screen above the console, and as she looked ahead, she came to see where the Tardis had landed this time. "Ah, I wanted somewhere different,' she stated to the ship. 'And that is what I've got… what you've given me, my girl!"
Here there were no traces of concrete, no massive skyscrapers, nor vast roads, this was solely nature; earth, wind, water and air, nothing bland all was colour; red to blue, pink to purple.
"Now then,' said the doctor, as she goes to her pocket inside her coat… 'let's get answers… yes, let's see where I am."
However, she stopped and pulled her hand away. "No, let's see if I can do this on my own for once." The doctor here choosing not to use the often faithful sonic-screwdriver this time around to tell her.
.
The doctor stepped away from the central console and walked towards the doors of the Tardis, about to leave through the doors, however, for a second there, she herself actually found it strange that no one was following her out, 'On my own now… yes, on my own...' she nodded. 'That's how it's going to have to be around here.'
For a second the doctor felt low, the colour fading from her cheeks, but she looked forward ready now to pull back the doors of the Tardis, 'Ah, but I will not let sorrow hold me down… as I shall still do glorious things… still overcome challenging fetes for the core safety of others.'
As this is how it should be how it as always been for her, the actual core believe and desire of the doctor, and at long last, the doctor here pulled back on the handles, fully opening the doors and stepping out into this new world.
.
The sun of this planet was high in the midday sky, it created a shadow of the Tardis, and even the doctor herself had to get used to the rays of this planet's sun, an arm being quickly raised up at this point to c over her eyes from the overpowering glare.
.
The doctor looked around, all around her was nature; flora and fauna, it was as if she was stepping into a true garden of Babylon.
The doctor took a few good deep breaths, "Smmmsmmm… heeehaaa…" smelling the air taking in all the fresh and goodness, gone was that off, foul air of the scrap yard.
The doctor let her hand brush through the long reed grass. "Now then let me see;' a smile now coming back to the doctor's face. 'oxygen levels are good… able to breathe freely… climate fair… good … very stable… Atmosphere suitable… able to walk without a drag or pull…" she placed a hand to her chin, as she weighed up all the planets it could possibly be to her own findings.
The doctor nodded knowingly, with a smile wide across her face, as slowly there was truly only one option. "Ar, yes Pii'wan!" She then checked the sonic-screwdriver to see if she was right, the light on the tip shining out and as she cast it out before her there came the sound of the sonic buzz; - zbzbzbzbzbzb - - zbzbzbzbzbzb - - zbzbzbzbzbzb - and after a quick scan she was proven to be so, putting the device quickly back into her pocket.
'A cleaner, happier and less troublesome planet than the one I left behind.' she thought. 'Huh, though I wonder why I've never had the need or conviction to come here… more importantly though, what has happened here now to draw me to such a peaceful looking land?' she questioned of her surroundings, as maybe things might not be as tranquil as it seemed.
