As night fell and visibility became poor the Kay'lah ordered the Reunet to stop, "We shall rest here for the night... And once you set up our camp water and bread shall be given."
The Reunet still tight and bound set up the camp, and as the Kay'lah rested in splendour and comfort; the Reunet on the other hand had been left in discomfort, being left by their captors in the cold air of the night. The group's rope staked into the ground and guarded by two soldiers who stood close to a fire.
The doctor looked around, she saw her chance to speak with the Reunet, for her to hopefully find out further information. She shuffled over to where the feathered young girl, who she had spoken to earlier, was sitting, and looked in the direction of the guards and as she saw they were too busy asked in a whisper. "Please, I must know… where are they taking us?" concern obviously heard in her voice.
A larger male Reunet with dark feathers had seen the doctor approach Kanah and came to her side. "You seem to ask a lot of questions, stranger."
"Yes, people often say that about me… it's kind of my thing really." commented the doctor.
"I am, Mayou… and this here is young Kanah." Mayou indicated to the girl, who the doctor had come to speak with.
"And I am the doctor." she stated, looking at each one in turn.
"You wanted to know where we are going, stranger,' They saw the doctor nod. 'that's where!" he pointed forward.
The doctor looked on to see far in the distance a towering castle lit up for all to see in the grey of the night.
"Bournew, their kingdom.' stated Mayou, casting a flick of his head to those who had captured them. 'The Kay'lah's stronghold!"
The doctor now knew the name of her captors at long last. 'Ah, at least this is something!' she thought. "And it appears they've called war on your race, but why?"
.
It was here that the doctor heard of what had been happening on Pii'wan. "Our race, doctor, is being hunted… hunted by the Kay'lah… They are driven by the words of their new ruler."
"It started so quickly, we were attacked without warning, with no time to defend ourselves." added Kanah.
"We before you, doctor, are being taken to Bournew, where we will be used as their slaves!"
"And, doctor, there are rumours that some will never be seen again!" added Kanah, whom to the doctor mustn't be no older than 15, and now had been brought fast into an adult standing role.
"I know it's not much now.' The doctor here referring to the fact she's in restraints. 'but know this, I will do all that I can to put an end to all this war… to living in fear!"
.
Their conversation was again swiftly broken up by the same Kay'lah soldier, "Damn ya, will you feathered ever learn!" The soldier's voice stern and cold.
The doctor suddenly turned her head to see the soldier come charging in close, and with his weapon in hand, knocked it hard against the Reunet male's back, and with the force of the blow Mayou stumbled hard to the floor, landing on his front.
The doctor without a second's breath helped the male to his feet.
"This isn't how it should be..." snapped the doctor in response, eyeing the soldier.
"She's right you know... after all we were once your allies…" said Mayou, as he was supported to stand by the doctor.
"Ha, allies, those days are gone!"
"Why, why do those days have to be gone?" questioned the doctor.
"We once stood alongside you in peace, brothers…"
"Why, why are you doing this now?' Kanah asked of him, somehow finding the courage to speak out as she stood by the doctor. 'This isn't how it should be!"
"Ah, isn't how it should be… indeed… A new day has dawned here on Pii'wan… Mosrak has shown us the way… showed us that we are the superior race, and that you are nothing in regards to the future of Pii'wan, a race we can use at our will!"
"Nonsense!" sounded off the doctor.
"It doesn't have to be this way!" stated Mayou, breaking away from the doctor to again stand on his own will.
.
The Kay'lah group's leader had, as he left his tent came to see this altercation, licking his gums with his tongue, he thought, 'Maybe there is more to this stranger than first thought… this lady could bring a sense of hope to the Reunet if we aren't careful…'
However, as he saw that the doctor for now only strove for calm, getting the young female to sit back down, thought better of marching over there to drag this stranger away. 'This one seems to be trouble… Though I can't afford to make a legend nor a mortar out of this stranger, but a hand, a firm hand that is, is needed to be placed upon this stranger's words and actions.'
.
The following morning, close to first light, the Kay'lah ordered the Reunet to awake, with one or two Kay'lah soldiers stepping in and kicking their prisoners to wake them up or to keep them moving, and to take down the camp.
The Reunet worked hard, all without a piece of food to eat or a drop of water to drink. And once the camp was taken down, the group's leader turned to their prisoners, and ordered them to march on, "We shall be in Bournew by midday… and once there, you will all be handed your new life's."
Under the command of the Kay'lah, the Reunet's marched on, forced to uphold a far quickened pace. All the while, the group's leader choosing to keep a watch every single step and move this stranger to Pii'wan took, as he still couldn't quite shack the sights of the doctor's actions.
.
The doctor knew that they had been walking a very long way, and even though the hardened Kay'lah soldiers were used to this firm military pace there were some among the Reunets that truly weren't, with some struggling. The doctor saw that there was clearly very little care nor sensitivity shown by her captors, with no rest nor water offered to allow them to continue.
.
The Reunets and the doctor under the blazing midday sun were now, in no time at all, led up towards the entrance of the Kay'lah stronghold; as the captor's leader had predicted. But deep down even he was surprised by their process that day.
.
They now stood before the gatehouse to Bournew, which towers high above them. The thick steel gates to this impressive stone structure were down, the tips cutting deep into the ground.
On the group's leader's orders, a Kay'lah soldier, without question, stepped forward and marched up the line to check their prisoner's restraints and that each restraint are still upholding.
"All are secure, sir!" he called out, as he checked the last of the restraints that was held around a Reunet's neck and wrists.
The prisoner long inside had been beaten down to not want nor wish to make a stand to fight free.
.
Their captor's leader on hearing this marched forward, a grin of pleasure across his face.
Another Kay'lah stepped from the gatehouse, and came forward to greet him.
It was instantly clear to the doctor the second these two greeted each other that the one who had captured them was now passing over leadership here to a higher ranking soldier, this was due to the fact that their captor showed respect first, raising a hand to salute the one before him.
.
The general was now led forth to the group of Reunet the Kay'lah had captured.
The general takes one look at the Reunet, and as he casts his gaze over the line, his eyes are drawn instantly to the figure of the doctor, as she was like no other the general had ever laid eyes upon before. "Who is she?" inquired the general, to the group's leader, who had captured her. A hand pointing right to the stranger.
"My lord, Loirak, in truth I do not fully know… we arrested her just outside Creemouth…"
"Creemouth, hey!?" General Loirak put a hand up to his chin in thought, still truly worried and suspicious about her. 'Maybe she is someone who's in a position to offer aid to the Reunets… or maybe, just maybe, she could be someone who we can still use?'
The soldier nods. "Yes, general, she stated that she is a traveller."
Loirak raised a brow. "Is that so… well then, maybe we better take this one straight to Mosrak… he may be interested in meeting such a stranger!"
"As you command, general." stated the Kay'lah in reply, lowering his head.
.
On Loirak's orders, a soldier marched up the line to where the doctor stood.
The doctor looked up at the soldier.
The doctor was pulled from her place alongside the Reunet. "You're coming with me."
"Ah, a please wouldn't go a miss."
The soldier's eyes bore into those of the doctors.
As with a firm grip, the doctor was brought by the soldier to stand up in front.
"You can take it easy, you know…' the doctor stated, turning her head to look back at the Kay'lah soldier, because the soldier pushed her. 'Ah, or maybe not." went on the doctor, as the soldier again didn't for a second release his grip, 'Oh well at last it's one step closer to speaking with the main ruler!' she thought, now being led to where the general Loirak stood.
