Hers
She woke up slowly, as if swimming up from warm, comfortable waters she didn't want to leave. Her eyes fluttered open and the first thing she saw was a wide expanse of smooth, olive-tinged skin covering sleek muscles of his chest. She grinned slightly and showing her face in his throat, nestled deeper into his side. He stirred at her movement, but didn't wake, instead his head turned, and his nose brushed her hair, the arm around her shoulders tightened then loosened slightly as deeper sleep pulled him in again.
It was still early if the weak light coming through the windows was anything to judge by. She refused to turn around and look at the alarm. It would ring when it's supposed to and until it did, she wasn't moving. No way in hell was she going anywhere now that she finally had him in her bed.
They'd been 'dating' for months now. She pretty much had to fight him every step of the way. He was so closed off, so guarded, so freaking cautions that it took her weeks until he'd finally agreed to have lunch with her. Not that it'd gotten easier, after that. It had gotten worse. He'd say yes if she asked him to a meal, but once there he'd barely speak and look as if he'd bolt at any given moment. Afterwards he'd drop her off at home because his mother raised a gentleman and she'd find out if he didn't walk her home and there'd be hell to pay. That was it.
Almost two months into their slightly forced dinners and lunches he started avoiding her. She wasn't stupid, and he really wasn't really as smart as he though he was if he believed even for a second that she'd buy his lame-ass excuses. He was a worse liar than Kakashi. Kakashi, at least, admitted to shitting with you.
After a month where he went out with her two out of the six times she'd asked, she decided enough was enough. She liked him, obviously, a lot. She thought he liked her too. But since, apparently, that didn't seem to be the case, she backed off.
Then something strange happened. Out of nowhere, he asked her to lunch. She refused. She wasn't being spiteful she just had a prior arrangement. Then, a week later, he asked her to dinner. This she refused as well. She was going out on a mission, had to pack. She could have squeezed a dinner in, he probably knew this, too. But he didn't comment, and she decided that a little payback was fair play. Though she did hint that she would be open to an invitation when she returned from her mission.
Just, she didn't. Return from her mission, that is. Turns out, she almost had to die for him to open his eyes. A blind Uchiha, oh the irony.
He'd saved her, brought her home half-dead, and refused to leave her side while Tsunade treated her. This forced Tsunade to have Kakashi and Naruto evict him from the hospital. He fought them all the way, but couldn't win against the both of them, and was soundly tossed on his ass. Tsunade only let him back in after she'd done what she could. Then he'd spent a week sitting by her hospital bed and annoying the living daylights out of her.
He was sweet, but she didn't need him to ask her how she was feeling fifteen times an hour. She also didn't need him to ask if she needed anything twenty times an hour. So, he got evicted again. This time, she tossed him on his ass.
When she was discharged, he was waiting for her in front of the hospital, apologizing for being overbearing and for behaving like he did when she'd just wanted to spend time with him. That night they went out for dinner. And here they were, he in her bed, a week after.
He stirred again, his arm tightening and she felt him press an absent-minded kiss in her hair. She stretched leisurely and grinned, tongue darting out to taste the skin at his throat. She felt his shiver and her grin widened. He was hers now.
AN: Decided to start an ItaSaku drabble collection. I have a couple of these on my cloud, might as well post them and any others I write. This is an older piece, from way back in 2017. As always, I encourage you to tell me exactly what you think.
