After Andersons visit, Sherlock was a bit more active. It seemed as though last night hadn't fazed him. Watson still kept a keen eye on Sherlock just in case he was needed. True it was Sherlock, so Watson would probably need the help more. Mrs Hudson poked her head around a few times but Sherlock was entranced in his files.
"He looks better." Mrs Hudson smiled.
"I think he is. Even after Anderson visited." Watson also smiled.
"Anderson is not that bad." Mrs Hudson said punching Watson in the arm.
"Ow." Watson moaned as Mrs Hudson returned to her part of the apartment.
"You can't let Mrs Hudson beat you up." Sherlock laughed.
"Whatever." Watson replied chuckling.
Sherlock's phone lit up. He ignored it which wasn't uncommon since he thought most things weren't important. The kept ringing however, and Watson wasn't exactly happy with it still ringing.
"Are you going to answer that?" Watson asked him.
Sherlock didn't answer.
"Sherlock?" Watson asked again.
"Yes Watson?" Sherlock asked back.
"The phone." Watson pointed.
"What about it?"
"Give it to me if you're not going to answer it." Watson sighed.
Sherlock moaned but passed the phone over anyway. Watson had got it too late as the phone finally stopped ringing. Watson looked up who had just rung the phone.
"Unknown number." Watson whispered surprised.
"See. Obviously not important." Sherlock said.
"What if it was?"
"Then they'll ring back. If not they won't."
Watson went back to reading his paper. Sherlock went over to the window but he didn't look out of it. He picked up his violin and started playing. As Sherlock played Watson got more and more irritated. Sherlock only played the violin when he wanted to annoy someone. Usually it was at Mycroft, but it seemed someone else had ticked Sherlock off.
"Sherlock?" Lestrade's voice came from the floor below them.
Sherlock looked up from his violin playing and stopped which made Watson a little more happy.
"Come up Lestrade." Sherlock shouted down.
Lestrade ran up the stairs. Well he tried to but soon stopped as the footsteps went slower. Sherlock and Watson were left waiting for Lestrade to join them.
"Finally." Sherlock said, waving his arms when Lestrade finally joined him.
"I swear you've got more stairs." Lestrade said bending down as he tried to catch his breath.
"They're the same as always inspector." Sherlock kept on.
"Right. John." Lestrade nodded.
"Greg." Watson answered.
Sherlock stared at Watson when he had said this. Sherlock was still not over Watson calling Lestrade by his first name. Ever since their adventure up in the moors Watson had called Lestrade by his first name more than ever.
"What do you want Lestrade?" Sherlock asked, getting impatient.
"I just wanted to tell you about an odd person around town." Lestrade started.
"What's new?" Sherlock sighed.
"Well, I wouldn't come to you if it was something we weren't bothered about." Lestrade continued.
"True." Sherlock said, frowning.
"This odd person has some people with them, three of them to be exact. We're worried as they seem to be around things that go wrong." Lestrade finished.
"What do you want our help for then?" Watson piped up.
"Well I thought you might keep an eye on them for us."
"Can't you." Watson continued to pry.
"Well I would but it's…"
"Not our division?" Sherlock asked, smiling.
Lestrade smiled back at Sherlock. He didn't know he had said that in front of Sherlock before. He had definitely said it in front of Watson but not Sherlock.
"I'd better be off." Lestrade said getting up.
"We'll keep an eye out inspector." Watson said, shaking Lestrades hand.
"Thanks John."
Lestrade nodded at Sherlock and went back downstairs. Sherlock gave Watson a puzzled face.
"Something up?" Watson asked him.
"You would have thought Lestrade and Scotland Yard would be able to deal with weird people."
"Yeah. They're used to dealing with you." Watson smirked.
"Thanks Watson." Sherlock sighed.
Sherlock looked Watson straight in the eye. Watson was used to Sherlock looking at him weirdly but never like this. Watson tried to avert his gaze but nothing seemed to work. Watson sighed as he knew what to ask Sherlock but didn't like the idea of asking him though.
"You know that person you were waiting for last night…" Watson started.
"Yes…" Sherlock replied.
"Do you think that's who Lestrade wants us to check out?"
"I hope not but it might be."
"So are they or not?"
"I don't know Watson! My whole mind isn't on that one person at the moment!"
Watson took a step back.
"Sorry Watson. It's just there's a lot on my mind right now." Sherlock sighed, putting his hand to his forehead.
"I get it." Watson nodded.
Watson stood next to Sherlock. Sherlock tried not to get Watson's eye line.
"That person you were waiting for…"
"Do I have to answer this question?!"
"Yes you do." Watson said, pushing Sherlock into his armchair.
Sherlock reluctantly sat down. He hated when Watson bossed him around, it wasn't very often but it was still very annoying!
"Fine. Go on." Sherlock urged.
"When was the last time you met that person?" Watson finished his question.
"It was a long time ago." Sherlock chuckled to himself.
"How long?"
"Just before I met you actually." Sherlock looked Watson in the eye.
"Quite a long time then." Watson smiled.
"I haven't seen that man in ages. He promised me one day he would be back but maybe I've been waiting for too long."
"What do you mean?"
"I don't think he's ever going to come back. I don't think I'm going to see him next time."
"How do you know you haven't seen him since that time?"
"Because I would recognise him straight away Watson. His voice, his look, his personality." Sherlock chuckled.
"What's he like?" Watson asked sitting across from Sherlock.
"Weird, wants to know everything. He relies on his companies too much though." Sherlock said looking Watson up and down.
"Don't look at me like that." Watson moaned.
"I was really in need of him back then. Maybe that's why he hasn't come back."
"Why because you don't need him anymore?"
"Maybe. I'm bored." Sherlock tried to change the subject.
"Please don't fire any bullets into the wall." Watson pleaded.
Watson had hid Sherlocks gun on several occasions since Sherlock had fired bullets into the wall last time he was bored. Sherlock hadn't found it yet but they had cases to do. Now they only had to watch people, Sherlock was probably going to get bored easily.
"Let's go for a walk." Watson suggested.
"Really?!" Sherlock groaned.
"It'll give you something to do." Watson said getting their coats.
"You mean it'll get me away from the gun."
"Maybe. I don't think the wall can take anymore." Watson said looking at the plaster on the wall from the last time.
Watson and Mrs Hudson had tried to plaster over the wall where the bullets had gone. If they had left them showing, people would think they're more weird than they already look.
"Alright. I'll come." Sherlock said slowly getting out of his chair.
"Thank you God." Watson whispered out of Sherlocks earshot.
Sherlock got his coat from the rack and raced Watson down the stairs. Watson rolled his eyes and tried to catch up with Sherlock. Sherlock had already beaten him down the stairs however, and was already on the street looking out.
"I think Lestrades right." Watson coughed.
"About what?" Sherlock said puzzled.
"The stairs. Mrs Hudson must have added one." Watson breathed out.
Sherlock just laughed. Watson managed to get his breath back and walked along with Sherlock to get some air. Little did they know someone was watching and following them.
