Sherlock was waiting for his daily meeting with Lestrade. Before it hadn't really been daily but since Lestrade had come up everyday for the last few months, it had become daily. He was now becoming worried. Lestrade was always on time and now for the first time he was late!
Sherlock started pacing. He did this whenever he was agitated or worried about something. Watson knew to stay out of the way when he was doing this. Otherwise he would get murdered if he got in the way.
"Lestrade's late." Watson said looking at his watch.
"Mmmm." Sherlock replied.
"Maybe he finally has a case to solve." Watson suggested.
"It's finally his division?" Sherlock asked finally.
"Maybe."
Sherlock tutted as Watson went back to reading his paper for the morning. Watson always read the paper when Sherlock was in this mood, it took his mind off of things. Plus it gave them some time to think and relax a little.
"Sherlock you up there?"
The peace never seemed to last very long though.
Anderson came running up the stairs which wasn't like Anderson at all. Normally Anderson left running to Lestrade to do it but with no Lestrade, Watson and Sherlock guessed Anderson was now the one who had to run everywhere.
"What's up Anderson?" Watson asked as he saw the worry across Anderson's face.
"It's Lestrade. Have you guys seen him?" Anderson asked worriedly.
"Not yet. He's supposed to be here right now." Sherlock said, shrugging.
"We haven't seen him since last night. No one has." Anderson said.
"No one?!" Watson piped up.
"Nope. He didn't turn up at work this morning."
"Where the hell is he then?" Sherlock said.
"No one knows." Anderson said again.
Watson and Sherlock looked at each other. Lestrade missing? This never happened! Everyone normally knows where Lestrade is; he's loud enough for that.
"We've sent out a search party but they've been out since the early hours and haven't seen anything." Anderson said panting.
"I'm sure he's fine Anderson." Watson said, trying to calm Anderson down.
Andersons breathing sped up as he got more and more worried. Watson got up and tried to reassure him. Sherlock got both his and Watsons coats ready to go.
"We're going to join the search party?" Watson asked hopefully.
"You are. I've got to go and see a friend." Sherlock said with a smile.
"Really?!" Watson sighed.
"She might be able to help." Sherlock reassured his friend.
"Alright. I'll meet you back here later." Watson said, taking his coat off Sherlock.
Sherlock nodded as Anderson and Watson left the flat. Sherlock didn't know exactly where to find the Doctor but wherever the police box was he knew they would be there. Sherlock put his coat on and left the flat.
0000
Sherlock had been searching for some time for the police box. He knew the Doctor didn't like to be found but this was getting ridiculous! Why was she never around when you needed her?
Sherlock went into a narrow alley for a time to catch his breath. Not the best idea in the middle of London but he thought he might be safe in the middle of the day.
Suddenly a blue flash caught his eye. Only one thing he knew was that blue. He smiled as he walked towards it confident he had finally found his friend. He knocked on the door and stepped back as the door opened.
"Found us then." The Doctor's smile met him.
"You're not very easy to find!" Sherlock tutted.
Sherlock walked into the blue box. He was used to the size inside what seemed to be like a very tight space. He walked up to the console.
"You've redecorated." Sherlock noticed.
"Yeah. Quite a few times since I saw you last." The Doctor chuckled.
"I don't like it." Sherlock chuckled.
"Oh yeah you never do!" The Doctor smiled.
Sherlock leaned against the console. He had a puzzled expression only the Doctor could pick out.
"Something on your mind?" She asked.
"One of my friends is missing." Sherlock sighed.
"Oh sorry to hear that." The Doctor said with a frown.
"No one can find him anywhere and I was just going to ask whether you could help." Sherlock looked the Doctor straight in the eye.
"I wish I could Sherlock." The Doctor said.
"What do you mean 'wish'?" Sherlock asked her.
"I promised that I wouldn't get involved in any other cases." The Doctor said pointing to the back of the TARDIS.
Sherlock knew what this meant. As long as he had known the Doctor they had tried to keep their companions out of immediate danger. The last time he had seen the Doctor he had been travelling alone.
"Oh." Sherlock let out.
"I'm sorry Sherlock." The Doctor tried to say.
"It's fine." Sherlock interrupted going towards the door.
"Sherlock…"
"Just tell me when you come and visit next time." Sherlock gave a little smile before opening the door and leaving.
The Doctor sighed as she leant against the console like Sherlock had done. Graham came from the back of the TARDIS with a bucket of ice cream in his arm.
"He didn't stay long." Graham said with his mouthful.
"He wanted help." The Doctor said quietly.
"Are we going to help him then?"
"No. I told him I couldn't."
"Why not?"
"Because I need to keep you guys safe for once." The Doctor said looking Graham in the eye.
"You're kidding right?! We only joined this crew because of adventure Doc."
"I know but…"
"But nothing. If that guy needs help we should give it to him." Graham said to her.
The Doctor hated disagreeing with her companions and Graham was right. Sherlock really needed her help right now and she needed to give it.
"Grab your coats." She shouted into the back of the TARDIS.
"Okay." Came the answer.
"Where are we going Doc?" Graham asked her putting down the ice cream.
"Going to find that man Sherlock is looking for." The Doctor replied.
"We don't even know who it is!" Graham said.
"Well just look for a man that looks lost." The Doctor replied.
Graham sighed. The Doctor always got them into adventures where she was the only one who knew what she was doing. The others joined them and they went to go and find whoever Sherlock was looking for.
