I might like this ship too much... I also might've wanted to make the most ambitious crossover of my fanfic history (Save for Christmas Party Panic, which is obviously legendary, and The Leo Valdez Show, which is something I wrote). So, every ship I could think of from the show that is or could be canon plus a few of my OC ships all made it onto the floor for this fic.

I actually hate roller skating, but since Rafael (from Awkward Dance Class and the sequel A String of Incidents That I Wouldn't Classify as Dates) works at a roller rink, I thought this would be a fun idea. And also so many of these people would love skating dates so it just fit.

It had seemed like a good idea at the time. The roller rink Rafael worked at had been advertising their big romantic Skate Date Night for weeks now, and Wasabi had actually been looking forward to skating with his partner. It seemed romantic. Then, as the day actually drew near, Wasabi remembered something that dashed his dreams. Rafael was going to have to be working the whole time.

He still decided to go and support them. He'd gone to the rink before while Rafe was at work and been able to talk to them on breaks and even steal a kiss or two. But this was a night of romance, and many of his friends had shown up with their dates, so he couldn't help feeling down.

It seemed like everyone was here. GoGo lovingly skated circles around Honey Lemon, who wasn't quite as skilled as her girlfriend but was no beginner either. Fred and Olivia were both fairly inexperienced and clung to each other for balance, goofy, lovestruck grins adorning both of their faces. Hiro and Karmi were squabbling about who was a better skater- when they took to the rink it appeared that really neither of them were very good at all. Juniper was teaching Megan how to skate, slow and steady. Morgan and Seth were practically floating. Globby and Felony Carl were lost in each others' eyes, barely recalling that they were skating at all. Globby had run into several other skaters, including Morgan. Aunt Cass and Chief Cruz had turned their date into a bit of a competition, the points seemed arbitrary but Cass was clearly winning. Abigail and Judy hadn't stopped holding hands the entire time. Former convicts, Ian and Mel, had passed on skating and taken over the laser tag arena, fighting to the death in a way that only seemed romantic to them. Current convicts, Celine and Momakase had yet to find a love song that fit the dramatic dance number they'd clearly had prepared weeks in advance. Heathcliff was the only other person who seemed to have arrived alone, but from the way he glanced at his watch Wasabi could believe the super spy's date was arriving at any moment.

And Wasabi hung back in the arcade section, half-listening to the sappy love songs Rafael selected, enjoying the introductions of the songs far more than the actual songs since at least he got to hear Rafe's voice in the intros. He watched the couples' spin around the rink, watched Juniper rope the helpless Karmi and Hiro into her skating class, the couple having way more fun when there was no pressure to be good at skating. He watched Fred face plant for the fortieth time, Heathcliff's date finally show up, and Celine finally settle on a love song worth skating to. Wasabi was very, very bored.

"Hey, want to skate?" He looked up, surprised to see his childhood best friend away from her date.

"Don't you want to skate with Honey Lemon?"

"I've been skating with Honey Lemon," GoGo said with a shrug, "You seem down. We figured we'd skate with you." Wasabi glanced over to where Honey Lemon was skating and she waved, beckoning them over.

"Okay, yeah, sure. It might be nice to stretch my legs for a bit."

"Yeah, it'll be fun," GoGo promised, taking Wasabi's hand. He skated between them for a while, feeling happy that he at least had friends who would be there for him.

As a DJ Parasite remix came on, a little different than the usual love sap, Rafe's voice came over the speaker, "Alright, lovers, mix it up. For the next few songs, keep switching partners. Mingle! Your love will probably be waiting for you at the end of it."

Suddenly Fred's arms were draped over Wasabi's shoulders, "I'm your mess now, Wasabi."

Olivia took Honey Lemon's hand and GoGo skated up to Seth, as Morgan found one of the dates Seth's twin had come with.

Wasabi was smiling, not minding Fred's less than graceful skating, he was having fun, even when he ended up on the dirty roller rink ground with his friend.

"I'm really glad you told all of us about this," Fred said over the noise of the song, beaming as Wasabi helped him back up for the third or fourth time.

"Yeah, it's been fun, hasn't it?"

"Rafe's really lucky, you're one hell of a skater."

"I'm not as good as GoGo or," He glanced over to where Juniper and Karmi were skating, "Juniper. I can't believe how many…"

"How many semi-redeemed villains showed up? I think Globby did that. He has friends, you know, on both sides."

"Good for him," Wasabi nodded, "The city is a better place with more of them skating and dating and less of them wreaking havoc."

"It seems almost ironic that Supersonic Sue isn't here."

"Oh, according to Rafe, she and Stu come for Derby night. Which is every Tuesday."

"I hate Tuesdays." A voice from behind them said, and Wasabi noticed Rafe standing by the side of the rink.

"Hey! Babe, what're you doing out of the booth?"

"I thought I get some fresh air. Check on my boyfriend. Seems you found someone else."

"Ah, no, it's okay, you can have him, Rafe," Fred assured.

"Do you have a minute?" Wasabi asked, eyes sparkling as he held out his hand.

"The playlist is on shuffle, but you know I don't really skate…"

"Neither does Fred and I still endured his skating." Fred crossed his arms, promptly falling over, Olivia coming over to help her boyfriend and also ending up on the ground.

"I suppose I can do one song… Let me find some skates." Rafael returned to Wasabi as a cheerful but shallow 4 2 Sing song. They were struggling a little to keep their balance, so Wasabi caught them and drew them close.

"How can someone be one of the most graceful performers and ballet dancers I know and not be able to skate even a little bit? You work at a skating rink."

"I don't understand it either, babe. But as long as you've got me, I'm willing to give it a whirl."

"I've got you, love." Wasabi had to work a little harder to keep Rafael on their feet but he felt so good holding onto his partner. He was over the moon.

Then the song changed.

"Okay, Music Man, you made the rules, let's skate," GoGo offered them a hand, "We can talk about what'll happen to you if you break my best friend's heart."

Rafe looked panicked, "Babe, help, I'm gonna get murdered."

"You're not going to get murdered," Wasabi promised, "Because GoGo knows I can take care of myself."

"You weren't even going to ask them out," GoGo pointed out.

"I was a little nervous! Rafael is kind of incredible!" Rafael blushed.

"While I love being fought over, and there's enough of me to go around, I kind of have to get back to work."

Wasabi crossed his arms at GoGo when his date mate was gone, "You didn't have to do that."

She nudged him, "You would have done the same."

Fred skated into them, "Come on, let's skate as a group for a bit."

"So you can drag us all down with you?" GoGo asked.

"Sounds fun, Freddie," Honey Lemon beamed.

"Sounds fun," GoGo reluctantly echoed.

Wasabi skated with his friends for a bit longer, dragging Hiro, Karmi, Megan, and Juniper into the mess as some people began to leave. Romance was fun, group dates were even more fun. But eventually, everyone had kissed their partners good night and headed home. Everyone except Wasabi, who was biding his time. The staff knew him and weren't going to chase him away as he waited for Rafael, but it was getting late. Wasabi really, really just wanted to go home.

Finally, Rafael clambered out of their little DJ booth, lighting up when they saw Wasabi waiting.

"Hey, handsome," Wasabi said, wrapping his arms around them.

"Boy am I glad we're not on skates anymore."

"I'd love to go for another spin with you, but we should probably just get home."

"We can go for a spin at home," Rafael smirked.

"We don't have skates at home," Wasabi said, laughing when Rafael's smirk disappeared.

"You're impossible."

"And you made me spend most of a romantic date night by myself, so I guess we're even, love."

Rafael stole a kiss, "I guess we are. I promise I'll show you a romantic night. But first," he glanced around the rink, which was almost spooky when everything was shut down and only the disco light was still lit up and spinning, "Let's go home."
