"Don't wait to long to see Paris." The last words David Haden said to Olivia benson as he walked away from her almost 7 years ago.

7 years on. She has a boyfriend and he suprised her with a trip to Paris. She spent that night in bed with Ed Tucker thinking about David. Thinking about what he said. She hoped back then that he would show up and charm her like he did all those years ago. She last heard that he had gotten a girlfriend and was working over seas. But that was years ago and Olivia shouldn't care. She doesn't care.

But now she is walking the streets of Paris at night, hand in hand with Ed and it's perfect. Everything feels amazing. They decide to try the little bar for a quick drink of coffee Olivia notices a man watching her when she walks in. Dark hair. Tall. Suit jacket on his arm. He worked out and it was obvious. Dark brown eyes. Then he smiled.

She knew who it was almost instantly after he smiled. Executive District Attorney David Haden. Shit. But she looked into his eyes from a distance and she saw something that she never saw whilst she was with him almost 7 years ago. She saw a pain in his eyes. She saw something in his face that was completely different to being with him in Manhattan 7 years ago. Hurt. Regret. An almost defeated look on her face.

Tucker answers a phone call from outside of the bar and

"Olivia." David says looking at her. "It's been a long time."

"It has. How are you David?" She asks and before David says anything Tucker comes up to them.

"Liv I've got to go back to New York. There's been a major incident and IAB can't deal with it without me."

"Do I need to come too?" Olivia asks and Ed explains that it has nothing to do with her unit and he will call her when he gets back to Manhattan. He leaves in a rush and Olivia looks at David.

"You are dating a high ranking officer from IAB." David says anf Olivia looks at him.

"I've been with Ed about 7 months now." Olivia says with a soft smile. She watches David and she notices how he seems really uncomfortable. "How are you?" She asks sitting on the barstool.

"Well... I got into a car crash a few months ago. I was flown by helicopter to the hosptial. I was doing some work in a small town near here. I'm fine. I had to go for physiotherapy on my back but I'm a lot better now." David says and Olivia looks at him. "Just after I left you... My ex wife got diagnosed with breast cancer. I helped her and we became close... never romantic again but... she respected me more. She passed away a few months after. I was a wreck. I wanted to come and see you... but I had done enough damage. I didn't want to hurt you."

"Oh... David I'm so sorry." Olivia says and David looks at Olivia. "Will you be going back to New York?"

"I leave tomorrow." David says and Olivia looks at him.

"Tomorrow..." Olivia says quietly.

"Do you want to come for a walk with me? After this." He asks and Olivia smiles and agrees to go with him. They walk for hours. Laugh. Joke. Just... acting like normal people who enjoy each others company. Just two close friends... or lovers.

No. It wouldn't ever be lovers.

Then it happens. He looks at her and she sees the exact same look before he kissed her last time. "David... we can't."

"We should have gone to Paris together." He sighs running his hand down her arm. "One night. One night before I have to go back to New York."

"I'm with Ed now." Olivia says. "I'm sorry."

"I'm going to the hotel and pack my stuff up then... Unless you want to..."

"David..." Olivia says looking at him. "We can't. I'm sorry."

"I guess I should leave..."

"If you are going to leave then go ahead and fucking leave... I'm not going to stop you." Olivia says quietly.

"Is that all your going to say? I saw the look you had... Olivia you know there's still something here or you wouldn't have agreed to come with me." David says.

"Yeah. That's all I got to say. What do you want me to do? If I cried everytime someone left I wouldn't ever stop... goodnight David." Olivia says before walking away from.

He sprints to her and grabs her wrist and spins her around and she smashes into him. He stumbles for a second before kissing her. "I don't want to leave you again."

"When I go back to Manhattan I'll be walking into my apartment that I share with Ed. I'll be walking back to my job where I'm captain. You'll end up working with us again... you know how this works. Ed is a captain at IAB. If I end it with him... I get back with you... he finds out... That's it. I might as well find another job. You too.. we can't do this."

He answers her by placing an unforgettable kiss on her lips. A kiss so strong and so passionate that it makes a love song look like nothing. A romance story look like a crumpled piece of paper. A kiss that someone would do if they were kissing the person they love for the last time.

He could be. That's why he did it. He loves her. He knows it. As soon as he saw her again... He knew he always has.

She wraps her arms around his neck and pulls herself onto him. They kiss like teenagers in the middle of a random street in Paris for what feels like hours until she breaks the kiss and lifts off him. She looks at him and she gives him a tight hug before backing away from him. "How do you hail a taxi in Paris?" She asks and David does it. A cab turns up after a few moments and he opens the door for her. "Your getting in with me this time." She says reminding him of how he kissed her that first time and he opened the door and he didn't get in with her. She gives the name of her hotel before looking at him. "One night." She says and David looks at her.

"One night."

It would never be one night.
