Prologue:
THE BEGINNING OF A LEGEND
The year 2000," Nevada´s desert
In the Nevada desert, quite far from any city, a large group of scientists, businessmen and journalists were gathered to film and observe a famous scientific project. An alternative to the great energy crisis that exists today and will continue the next generations and with which the current global warming could be controlled... and even reversed. A new of global interest. All these could not be possible without the collaboration of two of the greatest scientific minds of the moment.
The project pretends to create a new source of energy that would be able to replace the current sources. The main leaders of the experiment, which had been carefully studied for many years, were Mr and Mrs Hyodo, two of today's best minds. Two outstanding scientists who stand out in fields such as physics and chemistry as well as several of the brand of knowledge that these two disciplines entail such as thermonuclear physics and many others.
The husband, Gorou Hyoudou, have unique wit and intellect. A good man who looks for a better relationship between humanity and Earth. He was the one who founded the project. A man born and raised in Japan, an only child, the only rough diamond in the entire Hyoudou family history. He met his wife, Dr Hyoudou while was studying at MIT.
Eri Hyoudou, also a woman of Japanese origin and descent, but who went to live in the United States when her father was hired for a great job in that country. An expert in applied physics, whose studies were the key to advancing her husband's ideas.
In the beginning, the relationship was quite tense because of their respective studies. It took almost two years for both of them to step up and start a relationship, which had its ups and downs but was able to resist the problems thanks to the efforts of both of them to make it work.
Several years after finishing their studies they both got married, moving to the city of Pasadena, working at the University.
And today would be the day they would make the long-awaited presentation of that new energy source. The long wait was over and the long collection of the necessary elements, as well as the design of the instruments that would make it possible such event ended successfully. Thus, the leaders, precursors and their work team were ready to make the scientific miracle of the new century.
Now with isolated facilities, prepared for the experiment, both were walking around one of the rooms where journalists and businessmen were present. The room was far away from the test area for security reasons. The couple were walking with their nine-year-old son, Issei Hyoudou.
The boy was a prodigy. He outperformed his parents in intelligence. Many had their eyes on him. It was said that he would surpass his parents and become the privileged minds of the 21st century. If he was smart enough, with proper education, he could be even better. The brunet was very excited, watching everywhere. When they looked at him, everyone could see the perfect mix of his parents, although Western features predominated more than Eastern ones.
The couple was greeting the journalists, businessmen and other eminent persons present. Then came the time of a person they didn't expect to see, but neither did they dislike his presence. They simply didn't have the same ideals.
"This looks like an interesting experiment," said the man.
"Mr Stark, what a pleasure to see you again," said Gorou, raising his hand.
Stark. Tony Stark. Even though his full name was Anthony Edward, everybody knows him as "Tony" Stark. A successful multimillionaire, entrepreneur and engineer, with a luxurious life and a huge fortune, thanks to his inventions and his father's inheritance. He currently ran and managed his father's company, Stark Industries, an arms company.
And that was the main problem in the relationship between Hyodo and Stark. The Hyoudou did not use technology for war purposes, Tony do. But there was mutual respect because Tony Stark was still one of the greatest inventors in history.
"Me too," said Tony, shaking hands, looking everywhere, looking for something interesting before the experiment begin.
The journalists were constantly interviewing and taking pictures of the eminencies, especially at the moment when the two men shook hands. The flashes were beginning to tire them out, but they were partly used to it.
"It is a pleasure and an honour for us that you have come," said Eri.
"Yeah, well. This project has caught my attention. A new source of renewable energy is something that everyone is interested in," said Tony, downplaying its importance.
"As long as it's not for use on your weapons," Gorou smirked. "Oh, by the way, this is my son, Issei Hyoudou. Ise, say hello.
"A pleasure, sir," smiled the infant, holding out his hand.
"My pleasure too, little buddy," he smiled slightly at the boy. "I have been that told you are a prodigy. Let us hope to see in the future.
"*Dr. and Dr Hyoudou, please report to the evidence room. *
"It looks like it's going to start," smiled the brown woman. "In that case, let's go," she said to her husband, then took her son in her arms. "We will see you soon honey. I love you very much," she whispered in his ear as she kissed him.
"Me too, Mommy," whispered the boy, holding her by the neck.
Then the father repeated the action.
"Stay here. As soon as we're done, we'll go get some ice cream," he said, smiling at his son.
And they left, leaving the boy alone. He walked to a gigantic window, of great thickness, from which a small building could be seen in the distance. There he stood, still, watching the building with great curiosity.
Tony Stark continued talking to the people present but watching the little boy from the side. A few minutes later a voice was heard over a megaphone.
"*Attention, ladies and gentlemen, the test is about to begin*
Everyone stopped what they were doing to get closer to the glass. The journalists recorded with their cameras and wrote in notebooks or electronic devices everything that was happening. This could be a very important step for Humanity.

In the Test Centre, far from the spectator area for security reasons, a three-story building, all with large stained glass windows on the exterior walls, allowing people inside the building as well as outside the building to see clearly what was going on both outside and inside.
Through this glass, you could see how the couple gave orders to their team to start the practice. The scientists in long white coats, with protective glasses and some other clothing, moved swiftly around the lab, checking panel after panel, as well as following all the data reported by the different computers through which they passed.
"This is a very important moment," smiled Eri.. "So we must do our best!," She encouraged others.
"Yes!
"How's it going?," asked Gorou while he typed on his computer.
"Stable energy levels, within the parameter," Announce a man typing some buttons.
"Power load at continuous and increasing levels Load at 40%. Half the power required will be reached in less than 20 seconds.
"Containment fields activated and running, first residual load readings below estimates," announced another man checking some meters.
"Everything's fine, doctor. There is no problem," said one woman, looking at some charts.
"Good. In that case... start!," Ordered Gorou seriously.
The whole team started typing on their respective computers. Through a crystal, they could watch the power generator of the supposed new energy source start to working.
A large metal pillar core with a small turbine in the centre, similar to the Eiffel Tower, with four other smaller towers around it. The tips of the small ones began to shine, a laser came out of the tips of these, hitting the tip of the largest tower, thus increasing the revolutions in the turbine.
After a few minutes, the turbine began to emit a glow that was intensifying over time. Slight waves of what appeared to be blue energy came out of the larger tower.
What is the current status of the generator?," asked Gorou immediately.
"Power levels at 80% of full load. One hundred and twenty seconds before full power level is reached.
"Good. Power emissions. How are we doing?," Eri asked.
"Stable energy inputs, stable on-line energy levels and within the predicted parameters," replied one man checking a panel across the room.
"Electronic containment networks holding, power levels at acceptable levels. Below critical levels," said another assistant
"Stable, trouble-free magnetic field containment. Radiation emission, lower than estimated.
"That sounds promising. Count for maximum energy," said the man.
"Less than 30 seconds to reach the top. And counting: twenty-nine, twenty-eight, twenty-seven, twenty"six...
And so he continued with the count until it reached zero. Then, the needle in the centre of the tower, which went down the whole structure, begins to shine.
"Core status?," Eri asked quickly.
"Stable core reaction. Continuous and stable energy readings," answered one of the attendees.
"Containment field receiving power and functioning. Condition at 78 % of its total capacity. Containment levels are as expected," said another excited scientist.
"Core state?," Eri asked quickly.
"Stable core reaction. Continuous and stable energy readings," answered one of the assistants.
"Containing field receiving power and operating. Status at 78% of full capacity. Containment levels are as expected," another scientist said excitedly.
"Energy collection?
"Normal power collection and distribution, the isolation and conduction network is working," another answered.
"Everything's in order! 100% operation!," A technician reported with great joy taking the words off the scientist who turned to look at her husband and go happy with him.
" It works!," Shouted Eri hugging her husband. "It works!
He was happy, the project of their lives was working. But, in his mind something still worry him. However watch the happiness of everyone in the room, congratulating each other... seeing his cheerful wife... No. He had to make sure that anything can not get wrong. You had to trust your instincts. After all, it had never failed him.
"Is there any problem?," the man asked cautiously.
"Radiation levels below specified critical levels," repeated one of the attendees.
"Containment network all in order," said another of the technicians
"Stable energy levels and conduction," Another technician reported, and the man sighed with relief.
"See, There's no problem. It all goes... wait a minute"the technician looked at the screen calmly, his face turns serious and then immediately started typing button after button.
"This has to be a mistake, there has to be a mistake," and then scream in horror. "Something is happening! This shouldn't happen! This is very bad!
Everyone stopped celebrating to return to their respective posts, starting to analyze and type on their computers. Out of nowhere when everything was going so well, and from one moment to the next, alarms and indicators in red appeared on everyone's screens.
ALERT"ALERT
The alarms were sounding loudly.
"Outscale particle levels, rising temperatures," said one of the technicians trying to correct the problem like everyone else in the room.
"Cooling system collapsing," said another of the techniques, continuing in his task of repairing the faults.
"Electromagnetic barrier dropping sustaining energy to less than 40%," says another man in terror.
"The core is overheating," whispered Gorou. "This shouldn't happen. Everyone leave this place! ¡It's going to blow!," He scream out, alerting all the personal, trying to get everyone to safety.
"B-but doctor...!," a technician tried to refute one of the technicians.
Everybody was afraid... even so, several of them dedicated a good part of their lifetime to this project. All for the common good. Accidents happens, but there could be a solution. And those who were murmuring there... wanted to look for a solution, if they joint efforts all that time would not be in vain.
"No! Everybody out!," He ordered.
There was nothing left to do, just get out of there immediately. Looking at his wife, he found her there, with tears running down her cheeks, who simply walked up to him and hugged him. Leaving the man speechless, who clenched his fists and teeth. It wasn't fair to her, it wasn't fair to anyone in that room.
"There is no time," his wife murmur, looking with deep sadness at the generator, from which sparks began to fly as the colour red began to show.
Her husband looked at that too. His calculations and forecasts were perfect. They were checked and tested in simulations dozens of times and this had never happened before. The other members of the group began to sob, knowing there would be no escape. Some ones pray, others simply resigned themselves. The couple embraced as they thought of their son and that they couldn't be with him.
In the time they wouldn't spend with him...
In the time when he would grow up... they wouldn't see him smile... run... play...
It wasn't fair to them.
Not even fair for Issei too.

In the room where the spectators were, the alarms also began to sound, drawing their attention.
"*Please leave the room. Please leave the room*," it was repeated.
Heeding the alarms, they all left the room. Some with calm and others who looked like they were escaping from the devil himself. The only one who stayed was Issei, who watched frighten the building where his parents were. For his part, Tony Stark watched the building with a serious gesture as he typed on his mobile phone. Once he stopped typing, he grabbed the child and started to leave the room at a fast pace. The poor infant was only screaming to be left there.
A few seconds after we left the room, a big explosion was heard.
Tony hid behind a wall, covering the boy. They could hear the glass shattering. The pieces flew around the room, nailing themselves to the walls, as the dust covered them. He fell to their knees, holding firmly the child who was trembling and crying. Issei was a mix of frighten and confusion. Tony covered quicky the child with his coat to prevent him from breath in the dust that he could still watch in the air. The explosion had been devastating.
A few seconds later Tony was able to open his eyes again, but he closed them instantly, the dust was too dense. He could feel the child shaking in his arms.
"Don't open your eyes," he said to the boy.
A couple of minutes later, he separated from the wall and advanced through the dust, with one hand on the child's head who was stuck to his chest. So he wouldn't watch the disaster. Once he arrived back in the room, he took a serious look at the place where the test building used to be.
Debris and pieces of metal scattered everywhere. All was turn into ruins. Now there was hardly anything left of that compound. Bits of metal over there, bits of concrete over there. To say there was nothing left was too much. Then his eyes caught some human bones. Smoky bits of cloth too.
The was just rest of those people who were in that room.
He noticed how Issei tried to move his head to watch, to pull his head out from under his jacket, but Tony only squeezed it hard. Preventing him from an image like this... an image that a child of his age should not see.
"Don't look," he whispered, noticing how the infant was crying, wetting his shirt with his tears.
The damage was great. The victims... They couldn't even think straight. He only managed to get out of that place, covering the boy's body, making sure he couldn't look at anything in that desolate landscape.
In which both his parents had perished.

It took 15 minutes for the medical and security units to reach the area. Luckily they didn't have to treat anyone seriously. The poor boy was only crying as he asked where his parents were?, even though deep down he knew the answer.
Tony didn't move from the boy's side. He knew what he was going through. No. It was even worse. He lost his parents at twenty-one, which hurts a lot, but Issei had lost them by nine. He was still too young, too immature, too weak.
Leaving Issei with the paramedics, Tony went with the security forces to the Test Area. Being who he was, he could be very helpful.
Although in the area... the area of the explosion... they didn't find much of anything. Some scattered burned bones and parts of the old facility. When they got to ground zero, they could see that there was nothing left to analyze, so they barely had any work to do. Bitterly, they had no work.
On that day, the scientific community lost two of the most brilliant minds of the time. But at the end of the day, the lost didn't matter to anyone. However, that day Issei Hyoudou lost his family. His entry world.

The next thing after the accident was the press conference where the company in charge of the project of the doctors Hyoudou. They explained everything about the accident, explaining that after a week of investigation it was discovered that the accident was due to a mechanical error, they did not talk about it anymore and just focused on it.
A couple of days later they figured out the identity of those bones. There were all the members of the Hyoudou's team. But all that was left of the marriage was a man's leg and a woman's arm. Luckily they managed to find the wedding rings, which were in bad condition.
The remains of the scientists were repatriated to their respective countries for burial.
Issei was taken to a state orphanage while they discussed what would happen to him. It turned out to be a bigger problem than expected for the authorities, as they did not know what to do with him.
After all, I didn't have any other family.
Two days later it was the funeral. Few people went to the Hyoudou's funeral. They had no brothers, no cousins, no parents. Their few friends were the only ones who went, including Tony Stark. Although their ideas were different, they had great respect for each other.
Issei, for obvious reasons, did not go to the funeral. Everyone thought that was best.
The little boy, spent all day in his room at the orphanage. He ate and drank obligated and unwillingly. He hardly slept at all, waking up in the middle of the night in tears calling for his mom and dad, just to calming himself down and trying to go back to sleep.
The day after the funeral, Tony Stark appeared at the orphanage where the boy was since he had no living relatives.
"I'll take care of him," said Tony to the director of the orphanage and a lawyer.
" Are you sure, Mr Stark?," asked the lawyer as he raised an eyebrow.
Everyone knew about Tony Stark. So the director was surprised by the man's words.
"Completely," he said without hesitation.
Although he would never admit it to anyone, the little brunette caused him some empathy. Besides, they would probably waste his talent, and he was someone who liked and appreciated talent. He hab saw in that boy a great potential.
"In that case, Mr Stark, I'll have to check your criminal record to make sure you're capable of taking care of the child," said the director of the orphanage. We'll call you tomorrow and give you an answer.
Tony nodded, getting up from his seat, buttoning his jacket, leaving the office.
The lawyer watched as Tony left the director's room. He stayed a little longer to watch once the director left. Then he picked up his phone and made a couple of calls.

The next day Tony got the call from the lawyer. It seemed that no one had no objected to Mr Tony Stark adopting Issei Hyoudou.
Tony went to the orphanage where Issei was.
The boy was sitting on a chair, next to the door that led to the orphanage director's office. Sadness covers his eyes. As he had been told, Issie had not spoken at all during those days. All he did was pick up his science and math books or draw things in a notebook.
Tony stood beside him and Issei looked up. He recognized Tony but barely reacted. He got up from the chair and stood next to the man. Then they both went into the office.
Once he entered the orphanage director's room, Tony sat down in one of the seats and Issei next to him, the little boy looked at him for a moment and then went back to his drawing. Tony also watched him, studying him, and realized that the drawing was not a drawing that any child would make. A series of circuits linked to a motor and some small mathematical equations. That was what he could appreciate, even if the drawings were bad.
That boy was certainly extraordinary.
"Issei," called the lawyer, sitting between Tony and the director, gaining the boy's attention. "This is Mr Tony Stark, I presume you know him," the boy nodded. "Well, it turns out you don't have to be here anymore. Mr Stark has adopted you and now you are going to live with him," Issei said nothing, just nodded. "Well, in that case, sign here, Mr Stark.
Tony took the document, going through it from top to bottom. Seeing that there was nothing unusual, he took the pen and signed the document. Then he stood up and left the office, being followed by the boy.

Before going to the airport, where they would take Tony's private jet, he decided to go to the Pasadena City Cemetery, where his parents were buried. The whole trip was quiet. Neither of them said a word. Tony was focus on his things and Issei too.
Once they arrived at the airport, an elegant car was waiting for them to go to the city cemetery. Once there, both of them advanced in complete silence until they reached the graves of his parents. Issei could only cry at the sight of his parents' graves.
Tony watched the little boy knowing very well how he felt. Because of that, he put a hand on his head, without saying or doing anything else.
Sometime later, when the brounet stopped crying, they left the cemetery, went back to the airport and headed for Malibu, where Tony's house was. There Issei would start a new life, not knowing how exciting and dangerous it would become.
Well, this is the English version of this story. I am grateful to and112 for their help in document review as I am lousy at English and the translators are not entirely reliable. I hope you like this story.
Here and122! I hope all of you enjoy this history. My English is not perfect, but I'll do my best to translate this. All I can say is that Erendir is a great friend of mine with a talent for this and I´m so glad for the opportunity he gave me. As I said, I'm sure that all of you will enjoy the world he has created.
