"What of your cult?" All For One asked the first Dragonborn.
"It grows, without the last Dragonborn to slaughter my devoted followers, they are collecting new members. But the child's allies have taken notice long since that their little savoir is missing. The descendants of Ysgramor's Companions have been spotted on Solstheim, the vampire hunters have turned their attention to my cult led by their leader and another vampire lord. Castle Volkahar, once the strongest bastion of vampires has been seeing an increase in magical activity and that blasted Dark Elf wizard on the far shore of the island has simply vanished. I had heard reports of him going to the main land. But the greatest threat, the dragons that recognize Amavera as the rightful Queen of the Dovah have been mustering atop the throat of the world. And my cultists are being hunted down by the Stormcloak army." Miraak chuckled. "It's all a game, that they have already lost."
All For One smiled, his scared eyeless face pleased. "These worlds will bow before us Miraak."
Chapter 14: Song of a Dovah
I blasted a training machine away, flames curling away from my hand as metal melted away. I thrusted my blade into joint of another machine severing wires as electricity sparked on the blade. The metal arm hung useless as I pulled back my blade and thrusted into the red glass eye. The automaton dropped to the ground as I wiped my brow off with my forearm. "And that wraps up today's lesson." I looked back to All Might, we had been facing a sixty minute barrage of faux villains. The ground was littered with the disabled machines.
I had lost count around thirteen after a three pointer had slammed into me. I wasn't wearing my armor as the support company was repairing the armor. I watched as the others came out, digging each other out from the piles. I sat down as the Number one hero handed me my bottle. "Thanks." I said as I took the metal cylinder, the coppery taste of blood rolling down my throat.
"You have great potential." All Might said as he patted me on my shoulder. "Just let us know of anything you need." With that he left, almost immediately checking on Midoriya.
"Ama!" Mina sat next to me. "We have a week left before the sports festival. Say, how is your training with Midoriya going?" She asked.
"Slow, he needs a way to use a small amount of power, right now it's nothing or everything." I set the bottle down. "We don't have any training after school today, but I was wondering if you had any plans?" I asked her.
Her eyes all but became headlights. "I was going to ask you that! Tell me how is your singing?"
I raised my eyebrow. "In my native language I'm good."
"Sweet, there is a free style karaoke café. I want to bring you there." She smiled. Grabbing my hand dragging me behind her. "Let's go!"
'Why her?' I let a small smile cross my face.
I wore the jacket I had bought the other day with her, as well as a knee length skirt and flats. A black t-shirt under the white leather jacket. I stood outside UA waiting for her. "Ama!" I looked behind me and smiled as she ran up to me. "Oh, you wearing it too." She had the jacket as well, denim shorts and a crop top.
"Oh, it looks great on you." I said with a smile as I pushed my hair back.
"O-oh." She had a slight red blush. "Thank you." She smiled, but there was a moment of awkward silence.
"Well Mina, lead the way." I said to break the awkwardness.
"Right! Let's go!" She grabbed my wrist and pulled me behind her.
The karaoke place had teens going in and out all laughing as we went in side, There were people singing on a stage, booths where people were drinking colorful drinks. We found a booth and a girl with hair that looked like silver and gold threads took our order. Mina had something called a Pink Explosion, on the menu was rainbow flurry. "So, spill, do have anyone you have a crush on?" Mina smiled at me.
"W-where is this coming from?" I asked.
She smiled. "You may not blush like the rest of us girls, but I know when someone is falling in love." She smiled. "So which of our classmates is it? Are they cute
"I'm not like that!" I whispered yelled. "Like I would be comfortable with a boy."
"I never said it was a boy." Mina scooted across the round table. "You aren't half as subtle as you think."
"Eh?" I hid my face in my hands. "I'm sorry. You were just so kind to me... and I don't want..."
She just put a arm around me. "I knew it. Little tomboy vampire girl. Hey, it's okay that you can allow your heart to open up to me. I'm more surprised you didn't just push me away given what you told me." She ruffled my hair. I fought off her hand as we laughed. "I had a suspicion, but I wanted t hear it from you."
"It's only been a few weeks into the school year..." I said.
"Hey, if you want to wait a little longer, that's fine with me." She smiled. "After all, I don't want to scare you away."
"You say that to a literal blood sucker. I'm sure most would be running and screaming for the hills." I joked as our drinks were delivered, Mina had a pink tea with bubbles in the bottom a large straw sticking out of it, mine was a multicolored drink in layers that appeared to be shaved flavored ice. I took a single sip and... it was so sweet.
I must have been making a face, because Mina laughed. "Don't tell me you haven't had a slushie before." She smiled.
I shook my head. "No, I have never gone to places like this. It's so sweet."
"You think that's sweet? Here try this." She pointed her drink to me, I took a sip and one of the bubble burst in my mouth. "Cotton candy."
"That..." I smiled. "Was great."
We laughed as we drank our drinks. "Say, you said that you could sing earlier."
"Okay." I said as I took her hand.
"I was sure I was going to have to convince you." She said.
I laughed. "Singing is one of my favorite things to do." I said as I got on the stage ad grabbed a guitar in my size quickly tuning it. A employee put a microphone in front of me. I thought of the songs I knew... and smiled. "This is a song from my home, so I'm sorry if you don't understand the words." I started to sing in Tamrielic. My fingers gliding along the strings of the instrument as I started to play the notes.
"Alduin's wings, they did darken the sky,
His roar fury's fire and his scales sharpened scythes.
Men ran and they cowered and they fought and they died,
They burned and they bled as they issued their cries."
I let the ballad flow from my voice, letting the story fill my soul and the notes replace my heart.
"Dovahkiin Dovahkiin naal ok zin los vahriin
Wah dein vokul mahfaeraak ahst vaal
Ahrk fin norok paal graan fod nust hon zindro zaan
Dovahkiin fah hin kogaan mu draal"
The people listening turned to me with each word, each strum of the strings, filling the café magic all it's own. Mina not taking her eyes off me.
"We need saviors to free us from Alduin's rage,
Heroes on the field of this new war to wage.
And if Alduin wins man is gone from this world,
Lost in the shadow of the black wings unfurled."
I stood up moving away from the microphone, letting the power of my own voice fill the café. People gathering at the base of the stage.
"But then came the tongues on that terrible day,
Steadfast as winter, they entered the fray.
And all heard the music of Alduin's doom
The sweet song of Skyrim, sky-shattering Thu'um."
I was lost in the music. It took me back to the taverns and frozen forests of my homeland. The ice in my veins beating in time with the song.
"And so the tongues freed us from Alduin's rage,
Gave the gift of the voice, ushered in a new age.
And if Alduin's eternal, then eternity's done,
For his story is over and the dragons... Are gone."
I remembered my friends, those I had fought for. What I had defended with my life and soul.
"And so the tongues freed us from Alduin's rage,
Gave the gift of the voice, ushered in a new age.
And if Alduin's eternal, then eternity's done,
For his story is over and the dragons... Are gone."
I looked to the crowd, these were the people I had to defend now. My eyes fell on Mina. And I may have found something more. "Thank you." I bowed as they clapped. I got off the stage for the next person as Mina hugged me.
"That was so beautiful." She looked me in eye. "Y-your crying?"
"Oh?" I wiped the tears from my face. "I just miss home." I said as she pulled me back in.
Shorter one to start off today.
