"I'm sorry but with her current state, she won't be able to survive university, let alone a job. You'll have to be her caretaker until we figure out a solution." The doctor told Nenji after she had another accident with head trauma.

"I should've protected her better but now she's like this. I don't know if I'm ready for being her caretaker again." Nenji said with tears.

"It'll be better this time around. Make sure she takes these pills every night before bed." He handed the man a bottle with the name and dose on it as well as the address of the pharmacy for where to get refills. He told him to call if there were any questions regarding the medication. Nenji thanked the doctor for his help.

"Nanaka, it's time to go home." Nenji reminded as soon as the visit was over.

"Okay, Nenji-chan!" She replied.

"Just Nenji is fine, remember? We're married." He showed her his ring as well as her own by gently grabbing her hand to show her.

She looked down and said, "Oh yeah, I forgot. Sorry."

It'll be okay, Nenji. I just got to keep telling myself this, even on the difficult days. He thought as he walked them out of the hospital and to their car.

I wonder, what is he thinking? Nanaka thought as her husband drove them home.

They arrived at their house and got ready for bed with Nanaka taking her prescribed medication with water before going to sleep. She snuggled up next to her husband in the futon.

"Good night, Nenji." Nanaka said.

Nenji smiled. "Good night, Nanaka. Sweet dreams."

They drifted off to sleep until the alarm woke them in the morning. Yawning, Nanaka went to the bathroom. Nenji followed to make sure that she was okay even though the door was closed.

"I'll be fine, Nenji; you don't have to worry about me." She washed her hands after doing her business.

"I just worry about you because I care." Nenji said.

When she exited the bathroom, the man hugged her. Nanaka blushed, wondering if her husband was okay but hugged back nonetheless.

"We'll be okay, Nanaka. I'll take good care of you, like I told your father when I asked for your hand in marriage."

Nanaka reached for his face and rubbed her thumb across his cheek.

"Yeah, I understand. You've always been good to me, I love you."

"I love you too."

They kissed and went on about their day with Nenji helping Nanaka make breakfast and doing laundry.
