Author's Note: This is set the summer after Season 8 of my fanfic series.
Rachel's POV
I walked into my old house and looked around.
The front door opened. A three year old Jaxon ran inside. Rachel walked in, holding her one year old, Lucas. Brad followed her inside.
"Do you think he'll like his new bed?" Rachel asked Brad.
"Yeah," he said. "It's perfect."
Jaxon ran into the room.
"You got me a blue bed?!" He asked her, happily.
"Yeah," Rachel said with a smile.
"Thanks, mama!" He told her.
That was the first time he called me mom.
Lucas' POV
I climbed up to my and Jaxon's old treehouse. I looked around the treehouse. There was a heart etched into wall with KCJaxon in the middle.
A twelve year old Jaxon was using a pocketknife, cutting into the wall.
"What are you doing?" A ten year old Lucas asked.
"I'm marking our mark," he said. "Leaving proof that I love her."
"But you don't know that you love her," he said. "You should cut her loose before you hurt her or she hurts you."
"Yeah, I do," Jaxon said. "She's everything to me. I'll never hurt her like dad does mom."
"You'll never blame her for stuff?" Lucas asked his older brother. "Or make her feel bad?"
"No, I won't, Luke," Jaxon told her. "I'm in love with her."
"Why do you get to have her when mom and dad don't have a good relationship?" Lucas asked. "That's not fair."
"You're jealous…for mom and dad?" Jaxon asked.
"Yeah, why do you get to be happy when mom doesn't get to?" Lucas asked.
"It's her choice to stay, Luke," Jaxon said, "and they're working on stuff."
I shook my head at my younger self.
Rachel's POV
I walked into Jaxon's bedroom. His bed and dresser with his blue sheets and comforter are still there.
Rachel opened KC's door and didn't see her in her bed. She immediately walked to Jaxon's room. She slowly opened the door, and saw her thirteen year old holding his girlfriend while they slept. She knew KC must have had a nightmare and went to Jaxon for comfort.
I smiled. He really loved her.
Lucas' POV
I sat down in the treehouse. I looked over and saw a paper still pinned to the wall that said:
For the rest of my life, I'll always love you. You're my best friend, my soulmate. Katy Carmela, you are the most amazing person I've ever met, and I'm the luckiest man in the world to be marrying you. I love you through everything.
That was Jaxon's wedding vows. I smiled.
KC and Jaxon kissed in front of his family and their friends. Lucas stood there, beside his brother.
They knew she was dying, but he still wanted to marry her despite that fact.
He loved her that much.
I smiled at the memory. I never really understood how much they loved each other until I saw it happen again with Farkle.
Farkle is totally in love with KC, just like Jaxon had been. He chose her over his dad when he had to make the choice. He couldn't bear to lose her. He was ready to marry her in our Junior year. He had even bought the ring then and was going to propose to her at her party, but his dad screwed everything up. He was going to propose to her After Valentine's Day but decided to wait after he found out she went into the coma. He waited a year and a couple of weeks later.
I felt it when I sat with Hannah, just talking about our day; hearing her laugh, holding her when she cried, and kissing her head after she fell asleep so that she know I'll protect her forever. I finally understood what my brother felt for KC.
I looked at the paper beside it and saw the fingerpainting KC had made with Aaron.
I climbed down the ladder.
Rachel's POV
I sat on Jaxon's old bed, holding his old baseball glove.
"I'm gonna teach him how to play baseball," Jaxon told his mom, excitedly, "and KC can teach him how to play piano— you know, if he wants to. I want him to be whoever he wants to be."
"I love you, Jaxon," she told him.
"Love you too, mom," he said.
She kissed him on the head.
"You are going to be a great dad," told him. "Even if you are just sixteen."
"Let me know if something happens with KC," he said. "She's been having Braxton Hicks lately."
"I promise I will," she told him. "Now, get to work."
"See you later, mom," he said.
He walked out the door.
Tears were flowing down my face. Lucas walked into the room.
"Mom," he said. He hurried to my side and wrapped me in a hug.
"He was going to teach him baseball," I said. "He left that afternoon and he never made it to Aaron's birth. He never got to see his son."
"He loved him," Lucas said. "Aaron knows that."
"I know," I said. "We need to take this to him."
"Yeah," Lucas said. "We're not selling the house, are we?"
"No," I answered. "I want you to move in here when you come back here, even if it's just during the summer."
"I will," he said. "I love you, mom."
"I love you too, Lucas," I told him.
Lucas' POV
I looked around the room. This was going to be Jaxon's room again. I know when I have a son, his name will be Jaxon. It always will be Jaxon's room.
