Even Stars can lose their Luster

Marco felt great after speaking to Eclipsa, as if some of what he had been feeling was eased. The woman truly did always know what to say; sadly, this did not completely alleviate his troubles. For that he would need to speak to Star. taking Eclipsa's advice to heart he swiftly navigated the castle moving with such purpose the guards moved out of the way as they saw him approach their stations. Marco's thoughts started to wander again as he neared Star's and his shared room and passed a window briefly illuminating him in moonlight. Instantly he was reminded once again of the Blood Moon before he shook his head to focus. 'Everything will be cleared up as soon as I speak with Star, she's my best friend so she'll definitely help me out'. Walking into the door to his room however stopped any more thoughts forming as he angrily rubbed his face "that hurt" he muttered.

Marco took a deep breath as he composed himself before entering the room, wrapping his hand around the doorknob he paused one more time before gathering his warrior's resolve and walked in. Immediately he spotted the girl he was looking for on her bed laying on her back, two feet in the air kicking as she played on her mirror compact.

Marco quickly walked over to the bed gazing at Star as he took in her appearance. 'Wow she wears that dress pretty well I should ask where she got it'. "Marco. Marcooooo. Helloooo?" spoke Star in a slightly annoyed voice.

Snapping out of his thoughts he focused in on his best friends face who looked slightly annoyed at being ignored as Marco wandered off with his thoughts. 'I really need to stop doing that' he thought. "Sorry Star I spaced out for a second. Hehehe", remarked Marco nervously as he rubbed the back of his head. Star eyed him for a second before shrugging and going back to her mirror. "So, what did you need besides staring at me? I thought we were over this whole Blood Moon business?" she replied nonchalantly.

At this Marco's previous resolve crumbled as he grew nervous again before managing to squeak out "actually Star that's what I wanted to talk to you about". Star paused her aimless feet kicking as she froze for a second before resuming her previous activity. "There's nothing to talk about; the severing is done the curse is lifted, and we can both do what we want without some stupid curse getting in the way of it." She spoke with a tone of warning.

Marco frowned as it sounded like she was just avoiding and ignoring the problem he assumed they both had. A problem which he decided to voice right then, "Star please, I need to talk about this with you. About how I'm feeling, how you're probably feeling, and what's going to happen to us from now on." This seemed to cause Star to get even more annoyed as she sat up fully and looked Marco in the eyes, golden hair that could put gold itself to shame framing her face as she frowned. "Like I said Marco there's nothing to talk about. So, you can drop it and we can both go to sleep it's been a long night" spoke star through gritted teeth. 'Why is she being so hostile right now? I just want to talk and she's being defensive, honestly it's starting to piss me off'. "Are you really gonna pretend that everything's okay right now!" exclaimed Marco. He proceeded to move into her personal space, frustration and anger covering his visage, "that we're okay?" at this Marco threw his hands into the air for emphasis. "Look Star I REALLY need to talk about this" here Marco paused as he pondered his next statement before going through with it "about us, about how I'm feeling right now because, I don't feel right at all. I feel overwhelmed, sad, lost, confused. Marco paused once again as he gazed into Star's eyes noticing her annoyed look had never left. In fact, it had grown, and he reckoned he had little time before she blew up in his face.

Star for her part was not happy at the fact that Marco clearly insisting to push a subject she was not willing to speak about right then. So, she decided to ignore the whole thing and pretend it did not exist. Star stood up abruptly, put her hand into the sky and called out a spell as her hand glowed, "Radiant Sleep Wear Transformation!". Star briefly glowed in a blinding pink light before dying down revealing her in a two-piece navy-blue pajama set, golden locks pulled into a neat ponytail and angry expression set on her face. Star immediately turned around and climbed into her bed pulling the covers over her head as she did so, "good NIGHT Marco!" she yelled.

Marco could only look on in disbelief at what had just happened, he stood in silence for what seemed to be hours, though in reality was just a few minutes before turning around and shuffling out of the room. He walked around the castle again repeating the nights earlier sequence of actions, this time though there was no Eclipsa to talk to and no best friend to seek solace in. Marco somehow ended up on the same bench from earlier, adopting the same position as before he put his hands in his pockets and stared at the ceiling his fingers brushing up against his Dimensional scissors. 'huh forgot these were there' this caused Marco to recount his 16-year long adventure to get these scissors, 'sure they were a pain in the ass to get but even though there were some bad memories there was definitely some good ones'.

To Marco the scissors represented a lot to him, they were not just his most prized possession but a symbol of his willpower that allowed him to hunt down Heckapoos for 16 years all of which was for his best friend. "Star" he muttered, 'I did so much for these just for her and she wont even speak to me when I need her help' he thought. Things were much simpler in the NeverZone; just fighting, surviving, and hopefully finding something fun to do to pass the time was all that required of him. He was surprisingly good at it too, enjoyed it even, that's when the thought hit him like a bag of bricks. "I just have to go to the NeverZone!" Marco exclaimed standing up excitedly as he did. Why should he have to sit here and think about all this hard stuff going on in his life when he can just take a trip to the NeverZone for a few minutes here, which due to the time difference, gave him a few years to relax and not let his problems bother him in the NeverZone.

It was Brilliant! So, with haste he hadn't had to use since he had to chase a crawling Meteora around the castle, Marco raced off gathering supplies for his 'trip' to the NeverZone. All the while giddy at the prospect of being rid of his problems though only temporarily. After all, if Star can do it, then surely he can as well.

An hour later saw Marco holding a metal cannister filled with water, a small, short sword from the Armory, a thick blanket and a bed roll made from animal skins. Looking around Marco felt as if he should let someone know where he would be in just in case, they might need him. At the very least he should leave Eclipsa a note detailing where he was, he owed her that much at the very least, after a few minutes of deliberation he decided not to. After all he would only be gone a few minutes, right? Nothing to worry over so, Marco took out his trusty scissors and cut open a portal to Dimension X-103 aka the NeverZone. Taking one last look at the castle he hesitated, something seeming to hold him back before ultimately. He walked through the portal. As soon as he stepped through, the Portal closed leaving everything in the hall undisturbed as if there had not been a single thing amiss. Leaving mewni one less karate wielding Latino as well as one less stalwart defender.

After all he wouldn't be gone long enough for anyone to miss him… right?
