AN: I am updating two chapters because last one was really short and because I didn't updated yesterday. Sorry. I hope you like this one. It has a confrontation that I really enjoyed writing.

D: Law and order SVU and all its characters are not mine.

CHAPTER 44 PROLONGING IT

—If the jury declares in our favor we will end the case in a week. I hope there will be no more altercations.— Alexandra says giving Samuel one of her warning looks because a few days ago he had invalidated a confession for not following the correct procedure. One of the thing we had a fight over. But, as always, Alexandra solved it, just as she knows.

—Well, let's all go together already.— Fin says. —Otherwise we won't get there in time.— He takes the car keys from his desk and his coat.

We all follow his actions and get out together. The ground is already covered by a thick white layer, and the cold is almost unbearable. I put on a big coat and my winter hat but it still sneaks in and fills me with chills. So I rush to get into the car in the passenger seat and as soon as Fin starts the car I turn on the heating to try not to freeze to death.

We spent more than 3 hours in court, but our statements gave force to the Alexandra's position and things improved. It won't be long before this case is closed. Properly.

I lean against a wall waiting for all of us to meet, inevitably my eyes close. I can't stop hugging myself because the cold inside those big places is terrible even with the heating system.

—Are you okay?— I open my eyes to find Samuel already standing next to me.

—No, my head hurts and I'm exhausted. I haven't slept much.— I answer him truthfully.

—Yesterday you slept on the sofa at the station.— he corrects me, I turn to see him.

—Did you see me?— I ask. I was supposed to be working on the file and I had fallen completely asleep on the papers, and I thought no one had noticed.

—Yes, but don't worry. It is normal that you feel so tired. You should sleep more because of your condition.— I give him a warning glare.

—My condition?— I pretend not to be understanding. Even though I know he knows about "MY CONDITION". We haven't talked about it since the night of the elevator.

—Why do you keep denying it?— He asks me in a low voice. Not judging but actually wondering.

—I am not denying anything.— I answer in the same low tone. —It is just that...—I stop, realizing that he is achieving what he wants, making me talk about it. —It is none of your business.— I say.

—Okay.— he answers dryly, separating from me a little and starting to walk away.

—Hey.— I stop him. —Thanks for not saying anything.—

—Don't.— He says taking his black big eyes to mine. — You should be the one to tell them. I am not making your job easier.— He says with a modest smile earning another glare from me. But if I am been honest, he is right, perhaps for me it would be much easier if they will find out in a way other than by my own voice. Because I know that the reason for me not to tell them yet is the fear of that question. They will want to know who is the father.

ALEXANDRA'S POV:

We all walk together towards the station. Once again I look at Liv alone, lost in who knows where. I appreciate that she is no longer in that horrible zombie state in which I found her a month ago, but still she still worries me. I wish I could help her more, let her know that we are here for her, but she insists on raising that barrier to everyone. But I must keep trying to support her, more now than ever.

It fills me with a feeling of joy knowing that she is pregnant. I cannot help but look at her and picture that little person growing inside of her. I can't understand how she doesn't have that illusion, sometimes I wonder if she knows what all this means. Sometimes I wonder if perhaps she is thinking on... finishing it.

—Ale.— She stops me before entering the building.

—What's wrong?— I ask scared.

—Can I buy you a coffee?— She asks me. I can recognize her expression of "I need to talk to you". Whenever she has something going on in her head, she looks for a good excuse for us to be alone.

—Sure. But you are paying this time.— I make a little joke managing to get a smile out of her.

—Okay.— we deviate back to the street.

—Are you leaving?— Munch asks from the station door.

—Yes.— I express kindly.

—Have a good night then.— He says goodbye shaking his hand before disappearing inside the others.

Each of us took our cars and I drive behind hers. I am surprised that she does not stop anywhere until she reaches her building. I watch her get out of the car so I park and get out quickly.

—I thought we would go for a coffee.—

—Yeah... I got nauseous. I prefer that we talk at home.— she tells me walking towards the entrance of the building. I follow her in silence until we enter her apartment.

—What is it, Liv?— I ask her as soon as I feel it is opportune. —Is something bothering you?— She lets out a loud sigh and falls on the couch, I follow her actions.

—Samuel knows about it.— I approach her, little by little I begin to understand what she means.

—How did he find out?— I ask with intrigue.

—He saw the analysis. I took them to the office by mistake.— She explains taking her hands to her hair. —He told me that he hasn't told anyone.—

—Do you think he will?— Is that what she is worried about. Other finding out?

—No, he told me he won't.—

—Well, It wouldn't be nice for them to hear it from him.— Nobody can assure her he wont open his mouth. I don't think it's a good idea for everyone to find out through someone other than herself.

—He won't say anything.— The sureness of her words are strange. It sound as if she already knew the guy, how can she trust him like that?

—If you are so sure.— She looks at me with a little anger.

—He won't.— She assures me again.

—And would you?— I ask maintaining our eyes connected.

—No, I am not ready for...—

—And when will you be ready Olivia?— I confront her. —When you have a huge belly? Or perhaps when you are at the hospital giving birth?—I can see the anger accumulating in her expression. She needs a wake up call. —When will you accept it?— I get up from the sofa abruptly. I know I should shut up right now but I just can't.

—I accept it.— She says trying to take out her anger but, for some reason, she is not doing it.

—Are you even planning on having it?— I ask what I really want to know and I immediately regret my words as I see the hurt in her eyes. I turn around and walk towards the front door before I make this bigger.

—Oh god, of course I am!— She finally manages to yell at me.

—I'll just tell you one thing Olivia. Prolonging it will not make it disappear.— I state before getting out of the place.
