On Monday, Kagome walked into her clasroom a full 15 minutes early. Wanting to celebrate her success, she flopped into her chair and propped her feet on her desk, ignoring the extremely disapproving look her old hag of a teacher sent her. The only icing on the cake would have been if she'd decided to wear that ridiculously poofy yellow dress again and demonstrate her current action.
'I bet the old bat would have fainted this time.' Smirking at the thought, she left that particular idea to stew. She would have so much more fun that day. As long as Morinozuka didn't try to interfere again...
The chair next to her clattered and she took note of the excited expression on Kotone's face.
"... Good weekend?" Kagome asked, wondering what had the normally shy girl so up in arms.
"Not the weekend," her happy expression fell and she seemed to retreat into herself, "My brother came into town to visit."
"You guys don't get along or something?"
"No! It's not that, Higurashi-kun." The miko barely batted a lash at the familiar address. She would ask the other girl why she was 'kun' instead of 'chan' though. "We get along fine. But, when he's home, all of my... shortcomings are addressed by my parents."
The shrine maiden's eyes narrowed in annoyance at that. She couldn't really do anything about Kotone's home life, but she could at least make an effort to make the girl's school life a little less lonely.
"I see. Then what happened to make you smile like that, Yamazaki-san?"
The wistful smile came back and Kagome decided that Kotone looked much better that way.
"The Host Club announced that they were going to the beach this weekend! They're inviting 100 of their customers to go with, divided by each host. They're are only a few spots and they'll be set up to be filled in at the end of the day."
"Oh. Okay. Are you going to try to go sign up?" Kagome sighed, still not exactly approving of the whole idea of the Host Club.
Kotone's euphoria died out and she became painfully shy again. "I would like to... but I..." she trailed off into a mumble that Kagome couldn't understand.
"What?"
"I'm scared to go by myself."
"So ask one of your girlfriends to go with you." There! Problem solved.
"But... You're my only girlfriend..."
The miko gawped uncharacteristically. "Eh? Wh-What?! Seriously?! But why?"
"When... When I started talking to you, the other girls I was friends with... ditched me. So..."
"So... crap."
"Umm, you don't have to do it, Higurashi-kun," the Yamazaki girl whispered, her hopes deflating.
"No... I'll... I'll go with you, damn it."
"Oh thank you! Thank you, Higurashi-kun!"
"How about Kagome?"
"Oh! Re-Really?!"
"Yup. If we're friends, I'd rather you call me Kagome."
Thank you... Kagome-kun. Then please call me Kotone." At that point, most of the rest of the class had settled in and were getting ready for the first lesson.
"No prob. But..."
"Yes?" Kotone asked.
"Why... Kagome-kun?"
"I'll explain later."

The hall where the sign up board was located was filled with squealing girls by the time the duo made it there. Kagome immediately felt a headache coming on, but grit her teeth and bore it at the downcast expression on her companion's face.
Scrunching up her face, Kagome inhaled a deep breath.
"HEY! SHUT UP WITH THE SCREECHING!" Immediate silence descended on the hall and the girls all turned to face the brawler, scampering out of her way in fear. Kotone followed in awe, flushing at the attention the other senior commanded.
"You are all ridiculous. Seriously, you're a disgrace to the female race. Fawning over a couple of boys that bait you up with a bunch of flowery, insincere compliments before passing you off for the next girl in line. You honestly believe they care about you're 'love'," here, the irate miko lifted her hands and imitated quotation marks. While she was ranting at the group of terror-stricken girls, Kotone tapped away at the keyboard and monitor set up to accept names. A moment later, she smiled and stepped away to retrieve her friend, whom was by now in full-blown rant mode.
"-And another thing! Did any of you even think that the time you spend with them could be used in more productive ways?! Like... finding real boyfriends that truly appreciate you for who you are?"
"Kagome-kun! I'm all done!"
"You got you're name in?" Kagome asked, blinking at how quickly it had gone.
"Yep! You and I will be sharing a room together!"
"That's great! I'm sure you'll have fun, but remember that you shouldn't take what they say seriously since it's all and act and-! WHAAAAAT?! WHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN WE WILL BE SHARING A ROOM?!"
"I thought you wanted to come with me?"
"To help you sign up! Not on the actual trip with you!" Kagome wailed, pulling at her braid in a subconsious nervous fashion.
"But-!"
"Can you get me out of there?!"
"N-No! It says no refunds!"
"You had to pay for this?!"
"Well, yes?" With a sudden insight, the shrine maiden stared at the horribly fidgety girl, ignoring the other girls that either decided to crowd around the sign up kiosk again or watch the drama unfold.
"You paid for me."
"I-I did."
"How much was this little... endeavour?" She was afraid to hear the answer. Kotone named off a number and the shrine maiden paled, shaking her head.
"It's going to take a couple of weeks for me to pay you back."
"Y-you don't h-have to-!"
"Absolutely not! I will pay you back!"
"Does this mean-!"
"I don't have much of a choice. At that price... I have to go," Kagome grumbled, hanging her head in resignation. "Let's get out of this hall so I can think straight."
The duo left, vindictive whispers following in their wake at how they "cheated" to get into the trip. Kagome sent icy glares all around, causing horrible shivers to skate down spines.

A/N: Sorry about the hold up. Things have been really crazy here. Really crazy. It's my birthday tody, so I thought I'd go ahead and get this out here. I don't really have much in the way of excuses for how long it took me to get back in here, other than a lot of work and some massive depression issues. Anyways, I hope I can get back to updating a little more re frequently soon. Thank you all for your patience. Much love!
