Today was the day. The day she'd been dreading since Monday.
The Beach Day.
She was going to be crammed into a handful of buses with groups of other girls that were all going to be talking non-stop about the idiotic chauvenistic Host Club Boys. Double checking that she had everything, she zipped up her duffel bag full of her favorites things to keep her from going crazy without her family.
Oh. Her family.
They were thrilled that she was going on a trip with one of her "new friends" and not "staying at home and moping". Their words, of course.
"Just in case, I'm bringing Sango's poison. I might have to kill someone if they get too annoying." Smirking at the tiny little pouch, she stuffed it into the lining of her bag so no one would find it and think it was some kind of narcotic. That was the last thing she needed.
As a last minute thought, she wrapped Miroku's prayer beads around her right wrist, smiling and murmuring, "There. Now, I'm ready."
Clomping down the stairs, she ignored her mom's fretting over her clothing choice and sprinted out the door to head down the steps. Kotone was picking her up and they would head to the school from there.
'This is going to be a trial for my nerves.'

"Now, everybody knows the rules?" Tamaki announced, wrapping up his long-winded explanation with a mega-phone to his mouth.
"HAI!" Cheery voices rose up in unison. Kagome glowered in her little corner of doom at all the stupidly happy faces and resolved extra hard to not resort to Sango's poison.
"All right, ladies! Let's get settled in!"
"HAI!"
"Hell would be better than this," the miko muttered under her breath, getting a chagrinned look from Kotone.
"At least we'll be sitting together?"
"That is my only reason I haven't snapped yet."
Kotone sighed. She was going to do her best to cheer up Kagome.
"We-Well, l-l-let's have a damn good time!" The shrine maiden gawked at the girl as she flushed horribly.
"D-Did I do that wrong?"
Kagome smiled warmly and patted the brunette's head. "Nope. That was perfect. Just do me a favor?"
"Y-Yes?"
"Leave the cussing to me."
"R-Right."

Eventually Kagome was able to tune the other girls out when Kotone offered her an iPod. Silently jamming to classic 90's American music made the ride a little more bearable.
After settling in their room, the two girls locked the door and smiled at the same time. Cranking up the volume on the speakers the Yamazaki brought to go with her, they rocked out to a random selection of every genre until they heard a banging on the door.
Kagome opened the door and blinked at the half-dozen other girls outside their room.
"Yeah?"
"Umm, we heard some noises, Higurashi-sempai, and we wanted to make sure you were... okay?"
"We're fine," the normally stoic girl chirped happily, beaming at them and gesturing in where Kotone was jumping on the bed while giggling. None of them were used to this Kagome, so they didn't really know what to think. When she wasn't being cold, the shrine maiden was downright approachable. "You're welcome to join us, if it won't offend your sensibilities. We're listening to, well... whatever pops up."
The girls all exchanged glances before they all squealed and piled in. The miko watched all these high society heiresses have the time of their lives acting like normal teenagers and smiled warmly.
Maybe this little trip really wouldn't be so bad. Closing the door, she snatched a pillow and started pummeling.

A/N: I was really trying to not have to do this on this particular story, but this note needed to be put up. I apologize for the ridiculously long wait on this. It wasn't that I didn't have this chapter done, because I did. Last year has been, productivity-wise, the worst year ever. I had a lot of real world issues to deal with, one of them including an almost divorce. I can't guarantee fast updates, but I can hopefully have more time now to post a little more often. Thank you all for your patience. See you soon!
