"This is stupid!" she hissed, shaking her head as she sat next to Haruhi in a sun room, "I don't even have any clothes!"

"Kago-chan!" Honey called out, stopping in front of the raven-haired miko. He thrust a bundle of things at her. "Here! Takashi told me to give these to you. You should get cleaned up and dry." Woodenly taking the bundle, she caught the faint whiff of the Morinozuka male's cologne and resisted the urge to flush horribly.

'This is so damn cliche! It's not fair!' she thought angrily, knowing her face was hot and red as she grumbled under her breath. The tiny blonde then took her hand and led her to a room to get changed.

"Here you go, Kago-chan! When you get done, just come meet us in the dining room!" With that, the boy hopped out the door.

"W-Wait! I don't... know... where... and he's gone," Kagome sighed, shaking her head and dumping the clothes on the bed. Shrugging her shoulders, she turned to the bathroom and grinned happily. The least she could do was scrub all the sand off of herself.

Dinner had turned out fantastic, and Kagome had managed to get a hold of Kotone to make sure the girl was okay. The only thing stopping her from heading back to the hotel was the impending storm that was heading in their direction. It was the actual reason Kyoya wasn't letting her leave right away.

"Once the storm passes, we'll call you a cab to get you back to your room," the dark-haired boy spoke to her in a quiet tone as everyone retired to one of the large dens to settle and discuss how to pass the time. She nodded and played with the long sleeve of the shirt she was borrowing. It was definitely Mori's because it was enomous on her. She'd had to roll up the sleeves and the pajama pants several times. Ironically, Haruhi had extra brand new undergarments that she'd been able to borrow. She considered it beyond coincidental until she was told about the other girl's father. Unfortunately, they weren't the same bra size, so she was being extra careful to not bounce around too much. She didn't want to be the cause for traumatizing any spoiled rich boys.

"So, what should we do? Watch a movie?" one of the twins, whom she could now identify as Kaoru after memorizing their auras, asked, shrugging his shoulders along with his older sibling.

"Play cards?" Hikaru suggested. This caused Tamaki to perk up.

"Oh! We could play the commoner game Rich Man, Poor Man!" the blonde stated enthusiastically, glancing at Haruhi every few seconds with an expectent gleam in his eyes. Kagome snorted under her breath and rolled her eyes.

"Whatever," the small brunette girl sighed. They all got down on the floor (Kyoya grabbed a pillow to sit on, the spoiled idiot), and dealt out the cards. After several explanations from both girls, the group was well on their way to a screaming match over the cards.

"Revolution!" Kagome crowed, smirking in victory at the others. Hikaru pointed a finger at her and shook it in her face.

"No way! That's not right!"

"Put your finger in my face again, Hikaru, and I'll bite it off," the miko stated sweetly, a viscious grin spreading across her lips. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Mori swallow. He'd seen the look on her face before. It was one that screamed she was not to be messed with. "And it is too! Or were you not listening when Fujioka explained it four times!"

Lightning flashed and thunder boomed, causing everyone to drop their cards in surprise. Kagome heard a tiny squeak come from the girl next to her and glanced at the pale freshman. Haruhi looked ready to jump out of her skin.

"You okay?" the former time traveler asked automatically, keeping her voice down as everyone complained and gathered their cards up.

"Yeah. Just a little startled at how fierce that storm is," Haruhi chuckled, trying her hardest to stay cool.

"I don't blame you. Even I noticed that," Kagome countered softly, putting a hand on the other girl's shoulder when she jumped again at another round of lightning and extra loud thunder.

"Wooooow! This storm is pretty violent," Honey piped up, staring outside as the rain pounded down. "I hope the girls are okay?"

"Let's all take a break for a few moments and I'll give the hotel a call," Kyoya volunteered, getting up and stretching his arms above his head. After a quick phone call, he was assured that everything was perfectly all right and took his seat next to Kagome's other side.

The next round of the storm put the lights out and sent Haruhi under the table with a scream.

"Woah! What the hell?!" Hikaru choked, tumbling over the couch when the small girl shoved him aside.

"Haru-chan? Are you okay?!"

"What's wrong, Haruhi?" Tamaki was immediately trying to fit under the table with the freshman girl as he attempted to figure out what was wrong. Kagome's hand unclenched from the fabric she'd instinctively grabbed, her mind clicking a second later. She'd just sort of clung onto Kyoya.

'Stupid! Don't show weakness!' her mind was screaming at her.

"Are you all right, Higurashi-sempai?" the younger boy leaned close and spoke very softly in her ear.

"I'm. Fine," the miko grit out just as quietly. While she knew that they'd all been trying to figure out something that scared Haruhi, Kagome didn't want to alert any of them to her own nasty fears. Kyoya chose not to comment on the fact that his shoulder would have nail marks when he decided to check later.

"It looks like the storm flipped the breaker," the Ootori boy sighed, getting to his feet and retrieving a couple of flashlights. "Here. You all try to convince Haruhi out from under there and I'll go see about the lights."

"Do you even know how to flip the breakers?" Kagome asked blandly, giving him a raised brow when she saw a smirk flash across his face for an instant.

"Are you volunteering to come with me, sempai?"

She shrugged and got to her feet. "I guess I am."

"Wait." Mori was at her back in a flash, a hand on her shoulder stopping her.

"You too?" Kagome deadpanned, giving the taller senior an assessing glance.

"Yeah. Mitsukuni is better suited here."

"... Yeah. Come on. Let's go." For once, she wasn't opposed to having the Stoic Host near her.

After a few minutes of silence and navigating through the dark, Kyoya chose to speak. "I find it a little ironic, Higurashi-sempai, that you decided to come down to the basement."

"Why would you say that?"

"When the lights went out, you grabbed for the closest thing possible." When she tilted her head curiously, he continued, "Me. Why would you go downstairs when you're afraid of the dark?"

Kagome snorted and shook her head, "Don't be ridiculous. I'm not afraid of the dark, Ootori."

"Then why-!"

"It's not the dark," the miko repeated quietly, suddenly withdrawing into herself and folding her arms over her midsection. The two boys shared a look. This was an unusual reaction; they'd never seen the normally tough girl do that. "It's what it represents..."

"... And that is..." Her blue eyes met theirs and they both suddenly suppressed the urge to shiver. There was a haunted glint in those normally dispassionate eyes.

"Void... Nothingness... The... sense that you are completely and utterly alone. That, no matter how much you beg, no matter how much you hope or wish it, no one will hear you screaming..." she trailed off, not seeming to realize she was even talking. She was there; in the jewel alone where she'd done everything in her power to escape and fail. In that soul-sucking darkness...

Mori reached out and laid a hand on her head; the bodily contact seemed to snap her out of her daze and she stared up at him, suddenly feeling lost. "It's okay. You're not alone here, Kagome."

The shrine maiden blinked slowly, then finally nodded and shook his hand off, the veneer of indifference settling back over her. "Yeah. I know."

"Thank you." He could hear the words that she just wouldn't say out loud and accepted it with a small rare smile that had her glaring with a flush across her cheeks. Kyoya watched the interaction between his two upper classmen with a sense of satisfaction. Well, they had both just proved his theory correct.

He would have to make a note to remember that. And to not piss off Mori-sempai when it came to Kagome-sempai.

'An intriguing notion... in its' own way.'

"Oh hey! Here's the breaker!" the miko announced, pulling open the door and flipping a couple of switches. She knew the lights had come back on when she heard a round of cheers erupt upstairs. "Here I come to save the day."

Kyoya chuckled and adjusted his glasses. "Indeed. We should get back up and check the progress of the storm. Then we can send you back to the hotel, Higurashi-sempai."

"Sounds good. Let's get out of here." She shivered and rubbed her arms as she looked around. "Even with the lights on, this place feels creepy."

The trio made their way upstairs to overdramatic congratulations from the other boys that made Kagome roll her eyes. Honestly, it was just a breaker flip! They didn't have to be so ridiculous! It hit her in the next second that Mori had called her by her first name, and she hated the way she flushed at that thought.

An hour, and several games of Rich Man, Poor Man later, the Host Club was waving goodbye to a throughly exhausted Kagome.

She didn't think of the fact that she had worn Mori's clothes back to the hotel. If she had, she would have been better prepared for the rumors that would spread through the school after the trip ended.

A/N: As you can see, Kagome is changing things here and there just by interacting with the Host Club. LikeTamaki and Haruhi's big blow up. Thereby, some things may, or may not, have happened. We'll see as we go along.
