I do not own Grimm, or any associated with it. I'm just a fan who wants to take a different spin to the story. It will be based near the beginning of Season 2, and might take a different path from what happened in the show. May contain references to other media.

It was a cold winter's night. The brisk wind of the season blew by as the white snow fell. It was Christmas Eve, in a forest unlike many other. Where things considered fantasy were truth. Where the trees were black as the night...the Black Forest. In a wooden cabin, with one minute to midnight, a unique event that had never before occurred in history.

"Come on honey. It's okay! Everything's gonna be okay. It's all gonna be okay." As the man says this to his pregnant wife, the snowstorm continues to get worse. The aforementioned wife is going into labor.

"Are...Are you sure...we can't go the hospital for this!? Almost no ones delivered like this since the Aaaaaaaaaagh! Since the 1900's!"

"There aren't any Wesen hospitals nearby. And even then, the snowstorm makes it impossible. But it's all going to be okay. We prepared for this, remember? I got that first aid kit, and...hehehe, you coerced me into researching how to deliver a newborn."

They both have a small chuckle at that before she screams out again. Her skin suddenly ripples, and she grows white fur over her whole body, along with sheep-like ears and blue eyes. The Seelengut looks at her husband, whose skin becomes a green and scaly hide, nose becomes flat like a snake, eyes take on a fire-like appearance, and grows a large crown of horns on his head. The Damonfeuer holds his wife's hand.

"It's all going to be alright. It's crowning, you just need to give one last, big, push."

She shows physical exertion like she's pushing something out. Lightning strikes the top of the house out of nowhere, but it didn't catch fire. A few seconds later, a combination of cries and bleats can be heard. The husband, Frank, smiles before showing surprise, and crawling over to the crying mother, Alice.

"Is it Seelengut? Damonfeuer?"

"Well...It's a boy. Just like you wanted." She smiles and looks over. "Thing is...I'm not sure if he's either."

When she sees him, she shows both joy and confusion. The infant is covered in white fur, has four fingered paws for hands, and three toed paws for feet. He also has small rabbit-like tail, and a muzzle for a mouth. His ears are long and floppy, like a Nubian goats. "He's...beautiful. But what kind of Wesen is he? Seelengut?"

The two parents change back into a human form. Frank hands the boy to her. "I'm not sure...He has your fur, and my nose...but...I think he might be something new. This doesn't usually happen." After he says that, the small infant sneezes, and a small puff of differently colored embers comes out to their surprise. "Whoa! Looks like he's got his daddy's fire too."

Alice smiles. "He might be new...but he's ours. What should we name him?"

"What, his species?"

She playfully slaps him. "No you silly man. Well...that too. But I was asking what should we name our son?"

"...Well...You always liked Timothy."

"Both our parents would never let us hear the end of it. Hmm...My parents are Christian. How about after an angel? Like Azrael."

"Mine would call us out in a heartbeat. How about...How about we mix it up? Like...Asriel? Asriel Timothy Burkes."

"...Hmm...I think that's perfect." She looks down at her little bundle of joy. "Asriel...as for his Wesen name...how about a mixture of his traits? 'Fire goat.'"

He shows some skeptism before giving a slow nod. "'Feuerziege.'...That could work." She smiles as he grabs a dry towel to wrap Asriel in, and huddles next to his wife, smiling at his newborn son.

Eleven Years Later...

A phone ring goes off. A tall Caucasian man wakes up in his bed, turns over, and answers it. This man, is a police Captain named Sean, in the Portland Police Department. "Renard."

"The Burkes are on the move. All three of them will be on a plane headed to Portland, due to land at 1:00 P.M."

"What airline are they taking?" Renard looks behind him. He's currently in his home at night.

"None. They somehow managed to acquire a private plane."

"Hmm...A friend of theirs must've given them a ride. Would've needed it, considering who they are." He gets up, and walks over to a desk and pulls out notepad out of a drawer. "...Is the Hircus with them?"

"Like I said, all three. Wait...isn't he called a 'Feuerziege'?"

"His family calls him that...I have it on an authority that it's called a Hircus. Nevermind...which airport are they landing in?"

"Ehhh...Seattle Airport, Hanger C. I'll be flying there in a few minutes."

"Good. I'll call one of my Detectives and make sure he's there when they arrive. We have to pull that family out..."

"Before the Verrat get them, yes. I'll try to get in touch before that happens, but no guarantees."

"Well that better be a fucking guarantee. For some reason the Royal Families want their son, so we have to make sure they don't get him." He rubs his face and lets out a sigh. "...Are the rumors true?"

"What rumors...?"

"Don't play games with me." He looks toward the window, then his bedroom door before back to his notepad. "...Is he really stuck in full Woge?"

"...Yes." Sean takes a step back, a look of shock on his face. "...I got a look at him while I was in the bathroom. Not only that, but he's far more Woged than the normal Wesen. It's almost as if he has...an Ewig Woge."

"And yet somehow he's still sane!?"

"Yep. I dropped my gloves on the way out and he helped me pick them up. One of the few times I got a good look at his face."

Sean wipes his face again, trying to recompose himself. "...That boy must be very special. No wonder the Verrat want him."

"I caught whisper that the Council is keeping an eye on him too. In case he somehow breaks the Gesetzbuch Ehrenkodex...Blast, my plane is boarding."

"I'll see you in a couple hours, if it all goes accordingly." He hangs up and walks to his bed. He sits down on it, and shows deep thought.

"Are you sure the Captain is alright with this? We still have that B&E to take care of." The man who just spoke, is Hank Griffin. A Detective for Portland Police Department. He's talking with his partner, Nick Burkhardt.

"It was the Captain who requested it. Some sort of witness protection..." He looks around before leaning in. "...He apparently got word from the Feds that this small family of three is about to be attacked at the Seattle Airport."

Hank winces at that. "Ooh. Now I get it. Need any backup?"

"Sorry, but he specified for it to be me. Didn't want to raise too much attention."

Hank slowly shakes his head. "Not like I'm doing much here. Witness isn't talking." The witness he's talking about is a Beth Harmon.

"Must be scared. Probably thinks that she's next...that or she's covering for them."

"Well I'm stuck here until we get anymore leads."

Nick nods as his phones goes off, and he checks it. "Duty calls, the family's plane is about to land in 20 minutes."

"Yeah, see ya Nick."

He nods before walking out.

A small, white and green airplane flies down onto the runway, and trails into a hanger. A couple minutes after, four people come out. The pilot, a friend of Franks, keeps an eye out while the three family members come out. The mother, Alice Burkes, wearing a red and white shirt, Frank, wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses, and their son, Asriel. His head is covered by a hoodie and has gloves on.

"Whelp...here we are honey. Seattle."

"…..Mom." The son speaks up. His voice is slightly higher pitched than a normal boy. Alice looks at him. "Can I…can I take off this hood now? My…my ears don't feel good."

She smiles and slowly kneels down next to him, holding his gloved hands. "Not just yet sweetie. We need you to keep it on just a little bit longer, okay? Just until we get to the cabin. Can you do that honey?" A few seconds pass before he slowly nods. She continues to smile and wraps her arms around him. "…..No matter what happens sweetie…..just remember…mommy and daddy love you very much. Okay?" She feels him nod, and slowly let's go.

Meanwhile, the man Sean spoke with during the night enters the airport. Unlike the Burkes family, he took an economy plane.

"Blasted turbulence. The Burkes arrived before me. And if they did…" He starts to survey the area whilst he walks out. As he does so, he spots two men in suits, and one in a trench coat. "Bullocks...the Burkes will be going for a Taxi. I have to get to the Grimm before they get outside." He looks around before spotting a staff exit.

'Perfect.' He carefully walks over and enters it, making sure none of the staff or security spot him before doing so.

A Navy Blue sportscar parks at the Airport entrance. From the driver's seat, Nick Burkhardt steps out. He looks around, walking toward the doors when a man in a black coat approaches him.

"Detective Burkhardt. I'm lucky to have found you first."

He shows confusion. The man knows his name, yet he doesn't know him. "How do you know my name, Mister...?"

"Gregory. Gregory Malkovich. But my name doesn't matter. What matters is the Verrat..."

"Wait what?" He starts to look around, searching for something.

"...I'm sorry. I assumed you were informed. Listen carefully. I work with the Resistance. I was tasked to keep a Wesen family safe. Until recently, it was going perfectly. But then the family decided to fly here from Germany."

Nick looks back to him. "What does this have to do with the Verrat? And what makes this family so special?"

Gregory shows confusion. "Weren't you told anything?"

"...My Captain tasked me with acting as witness protection to a family when they got here. Other than that, I'm in the dark."

Gregory grips his head as his skin ripples. He Woges, growing fur over his head and body, displaying distinct, stripe-like spots similar to those of a jaguar or a leopard, albeit his black hair still remaining. He also gains two sharp, jaguar-like fangs, and sharp claws on his hands. His eye color turns a glowing amber. When Nick sees this, he looks blank, and Gregory quickly changes back.

"...So, the Resistance wasn't misinformed about a Grimm being in Portland. Look...the Royals want this family. More importantly, their child. A young boy...and both parties got here before me. I managed to get outside before the Verrat did, which means the family probably did too."

The two start to look around. Nick takes a step toward the main building. "And what does this family look like?"

"...The father, Frank Burkes will be wearing a baseball cap. The mother a red and white shirt. And their son...a hoodie with gloves. One of us needs to find them quickly. Since I know what the Verrat are wearing, I'll keep an eye on the doors."

"Why a hoodie in this weather...?"

"Just trust me...Please. If the Royals want this boy so badly, he must be very special. I've seen proof firsthand. Now go, I'll try to signal you if they come out."

After about a minute passes, Nick starts walking around, looking for the Burkes.

After 7 minutes of looking through the large amount of people exiting the airport, Nick spots a small child in a hoodie. He rushes past the crowds towards them, the whole family coming into view. Just before the father steps into a taxi, he calls over.

"Mrs. Burkes!" The wife looks over and gets in front of her son. Frank looks over as Nick pulls out his badge. "I'm Detective Nick Burkhardt of Portland PD. I was sent for your family."

"How did you know...?"

"I was tasked by my captain to act as witness protection, and right now, your family is in danger."

Both the parents show utter shock. However, they both react differently. Frank woges into a Damon-feuer and growls, and the wife woges into something similar to a sheep. Frank gets out of the car and steps in front of his family as they change back.

"Yes, I'm a Grimm, but I'm also a cop. And we need to get out of here now, alright?"

The two lovers look at each other before looking down at their son. They look back to Nick and nod. Frank steps forward.

"But how is it possible? We made sure to play it safe. One of my friends owned a plane, and I called in a favor."

"Well the Verrat figured it out somehow, because they got here after you did. I have someone watching the entrances now, but we gotta go." They nod and follow Nick. The wife is holding her sons' hand when he tugs on it.

"I...I thought we were taking the taxi."

Nick notices the voice is slightly higher pitched than a normal boys as Frank looks at his son.

"We were Champ. But now this man is going to help us. He's a police officer. I assume we're going to your car?"

"Yes. Just in case, keep an eye out for a navy-blue sportscar." The two parents nod as they continue to go forward.

Meanwhile, Gregory is looking around when he spots someone. He quickly pulls out his phone and dials a number.

"...Sean Renard."

"This is Gregory. I met up with the Detective and sent him to find the Burkes...the Verrat is here."

Sean swears under his breath over the phone. "Well what exactly do you want me to do? I'm in my office."

"When we hang up, I need you to message the Grimm. Text him to look for a reflection. I told him I would send a signal, but I don't have his number."

"...Fine. But I'll have to make it quick. He doesn't know about me, so I can't do very much."

"I just need to get his attention...they're coming over, I gotta hang up."

"See you soon...hopefully." With that he hangs up.

Meanwhile, Nick feels a vibration in his pocket. He pulls it out as he continues toward his car.

He pulls it out. It reads 'Look for a reflection.' When he looks back up, he spots the sun refracting off a cell phone.

He turns to the Burkes. "The Verrat is out, we gotta move quick." The two parents nod. Suddenly, gunshots go off. Everyone outside save for the four run for cover. Nick pulls out his pistol as the Burkes cover their son. "Move. Move!" The four silently rush to the parked cars as Gregory runs over.

"They must've knocked out security on their way here. They all have weapons. Get them in the car now." Nick nods and moves to his car, opening the door.

Gregory runs toward the car when he feels a sharp pain in his leg, causing him to fall down. Frank and Alice spot this as they help their son into the car, and run over. Meanwhile, Nick gives cover fire, being careful not to shoot any bystanders. With some effort, the two parents pick Gregory up by the arms, and carry him over to the car, sitting him next to the child.

Nick runs to the driver's seat as the two parents move to get in. But grabbing Gregory gave the Verrat enough time to catch up. Right as Frank opens the front passenger door, the two parents get grabbed.

"Mom! Dad!" shouts the kid.

Gregory turns his body out and kicks the man holding Frank with his good leg. Nick shoots the one holding Alice in the arm, getting him to let go of her as he gets in the car.

Gregory turns to Nick. "Start the car!"

"But the kid's parents...!"

"Just start it!"

Nick rolls his eyes and starts the ignition just as the Verrat manage to grab Frank and Alice. Gregory tries to kick them one more time before the car drives out.

"Mom, Dad! No!" The kid tries to get out but Gregory grabs them. Nick keeps driving away as the Verrat knock the two parents out.

Gregory looks at Nick while holding the kid still. "We need to get somewhere safe, quickly! Is there any place that we could go to?!"

"Yeah. There's a Wesen spice shop that a friend of mine runs and lives at. She has connections to the Resistance. But right now, I want some answers, like why the Royals want some couples' kid!"

"Listen. I'll fully explain once we get somewhere hidden. This is big, like 'exposing the Wesen world' big!"

Nick is almost tempted to look behind him in confusion, but he has to focus on driving.

The kid grabs onto Gregory's good leg, and Nick gets a glimpse of the kids face. He appears to be Woged, and his mouth is shaped into an ovular muzzle with a snout, and fangs.

"...I want to bite you so bad. Why...why didn't you save mom and dad?!"

"We didn't want to leave them, kid. But at that point they weren't gonna stop until they got someone." Gregory explains."...Look. Despite what happened, I didn't want your parents to get captured either. I was assigned to protect your whole family, not just you. But..." He looks down at his bleeding leg, the one that got shot. "...I didn't expect to be put out of commission."

"Alright, look." Nick says. "I don't know what's going on, but I'll help anyway I can. But the moment we get there, you need to tell me what's going on. Got it?" Gregory lets out a tired sigh, and nods."Good."

About an hour later, the three men drive up to the curb in front of an old spice shop. Nick gets out and opens the passenger door before helping Gregory out of the car. The kid slowly, yet fearfully gets out, holding his arms.

Inside, a woman with chestnut hair and a yellow jacket is reading something when Nick comes in carrying Gregory. She gets up and walks over. "Nick? What the hell is going on?! What happened?"

"Long story Rosalee, I could use your help right now!"

Rosalee nods. "Right. Bring him into the other room." She walks over to the two and helps Nick carry the Wesen into the room, and places him down on a couch. She then walks over to a medicine cabinet. "What happened? Didn't you tell me and Monroe you're working that robbery?"

"Yeah well that changed when the Captain sent me into a gunfight with the Verrat!" Nick says, frustrated.

"What?!" She shouts, shocked. She takes a deep breath to compose herself as the kid walks inside, looking around. "...Okay. What happened?"

"Hank and I were working the B&E down at the station, when Renard calls me into his office. He told me that he got word that a family was gonna be attacked at the airport, and they needed to be brought into witness protection," Nick explains, pinching his nose.

"...That explains your confusion." Gregory straightens up, looking at the two. "...I'm Gregory Malkovitch. I work with the Resistance. Recently, we got word that the Royals had taken interest in a Wesen family, one that decided to come here from Germany."

"Yeah, more specifically their child. He's right over there," Nick points out. Rosalee looks behind her and sees the kid, still wearing his hood and gloves. "They were determined to get him too. They...they took the kids parents before we got away."

"Oh my god, those monsters...!" Rosalee covers her mouth. "...And let me guess. You got shot during the skirmish, Mr. Malkovitch?"

"Just Gregory is fine. But yes. If the Detective and Frank Burkes didn't have to help me get out of the way, the parents would probably still be here."

Nick looks to him. "Yes. They would. But you still haven't explained something to me. Why are the Verrat after a kid? What is he? Is he a..." He tries to ask before being stopped.

"...No, he isn't a Grimm. He's Wesen. However...well..." He slowly turns to the kid. "...Hey there lad. Why don't you come over here?"

The kid shakes their head. Rosalee kneels down so they're face to face. "It's okay. We're not gonna hurt you. We just want to talk. Nick is a good friend, and a cop. If anyone can help find your mom and dad, its him. Why don't you come over here? Just...take your time."

The small child slowly walks over, shaking. Once he's face to face with Rosalee, he speaks up. "...You're...you're pretty."

Rosalee blushes at the comment, smiling at the kindness. However, she is also inwardly confused about the fact of how high pitched the kids voice is. "...Thank you. I'm Rosalee. I own the shop here. I'm Wesen too. What's your name?"

"...Asriel."

"Nice to meet you, Asriel. I...I'm curious. Why are you wearing a hood over your face?"

Asriel looks away. "...Mommy has me keep it on. Along with these...these gloves and shoes."

"And why is that?"

"...Because of how I look. Because I...I'm not like normal kids."

Nick slowly sits down. "...Could we see, please?"

It takes a few minutes, but Asriel nervously lifts up his arms, and takes off his hood. It reveals him to be fully Woged. Not only that, but his Woge is much more exaggerated, making him appear more animalistic, complete with a snout, long fluffy fur, and big floppy ears hanging from his head.

"...Could I...Could I sit down? My...my feet hurt." Rosalee nods and pulls a chair over. Asriel climbs up and takes off his shoes, showing that they look more like large paws.

Nick originally was just looking at Asriel in awe, but stops when he sees Gregory doesn't have the same expression as him and Rosalee. "You knew about this, didn't you?"

"...I told you. This lad is unique. Most Wesen would have gone insane by now. He's been fully Woged, for his entire life. Not only that, but...see his muzzle, and ears? His limbs? Wesen don't have an appearance like that. He's...something new. Something that everybody can see at all times, not just Grimm's."

Rosalee turns to Gregory as Asriel takes off his gloves, revealing furry, four-digit hands with paw pads.

"So, you're saying that anyone can see him? Doesn't that go against the...!"

"The Gesetzbuch Ehrenkodex? Yes. Why do you think his parents always made sure to keep him hidden? The Council has been keeping its eye on this lad since he was born."

Nick looks between the two. "I'm sorry if I'm out of the loop, the what?"

Rosalee looks at him. "It's a set of rules that the Council created in the 1500's. Basically, it's meant to constrain Wesen from exposing themselves to the public. It makes sense that they would be watching...Asriel's, family. He's a walking exception to the rule."

"...Mommy always told me people wouldn't understand why I look like this. That...they might be scared of me."

Nick gets up. "Rosalee, can we talk in private?"

Watching from a nearby window, a tall man in a black sweater and wearing a cloak is staring at the group as Nick, and Rosalee walks away. He makes sure to keep himself hidden from view, and to make sure any passerby do not see him.

"...So...It is true. I am not the only one to come to this world. Although...In his case, it seems to be more of a case of...Reincarnation, rather than simply traveling here." His form briefly shimmers. He looks similar to a skeleton, albeit without a nose cavity and the lack of a disconnected jaw. "...a day will come where we will speak to each other. Until then...the Grimm should be able to keep you safe." With that said, he walks off.

Thank you for reading this. I hope it makes sense in the long run, and can be enjoyed by more than just myself. I apologize in advance if updates come very slowly, I am currently in college and don't have a lot of time on my hands to write. Either way, I'll see you all next chapter, when I continue where Nick and Rosalee left off!
