Clarie, Cathie and Nannie: Chapter Two

"She ain't dead yet, hasn't she?" asked the boy as they stared at the little girl lying unconscious to the couch.

"No she's not. Now get your heads back to your breakfast. She's drowning when I saw her so Melanie need to see if she's fine." said Mary as she shoo the boys away. She turned to her sister Mary and asked, "Do we need to ring the hospital?"

"She's shoutin' when we saw her. Poor girl.. she's floatin' on a ring buoy so we 'elped her reach the shore. She's tremblin' then she 'hanked us and fell. I guess she's been in the sea for 'ours if not worse." Melanie said as she checked on the girl, "'hank god she's now better. She's ice cold when we got 'er."

"She must have come from a rich family, what is she doing floating around.." Mary said as she looked at the damp dress while changing it with some warm ones. She looked at the green pendant and saw a carving.

Nanette Denise

"Well.. Mr and Mrs. Browns your daughter's fine. She only needed to be warm and it seems like she drowned in cold water but she's now recovering. She may feel a bit sore while talking but it'll heal. You may take her home after lunch and let her rest." the doctor said as the couple let out a sigh.

Sophie Browns smile as she and her husband thanked the doctor and entered the room where they saw their 'daughter' sitting on the bed, staring out the window.

"Oh you're awake." her husband, Paul Browns stated as they sat beside her.

"Where are we?" the little girl asked.

"We're at the hospital, dear. How are you feeling?" asked Sophie.

The little girl didn't answer as she stared at the window, remembering the things that happened the night before.

She and her sisters are tucked into bed. It's only 7pm but they agreed to sleep early so that when they woke up, there's a big possibility that they're near the shore. They've been traveling by ship for six days and based on the captain, they'll reach the shore by the seventh.

For some reason, she can't sleep. She have no idea why. her older twin is still reading 'The Charlotte's Web' and her younger one is already as sleep. Normally, she would fell asleep faster than her younger sister and her older sister would sleep after reading the book but she felt so different this night.

Minutes passed and they felt some banging, shouts and footsteps outside their small room. Their mother came rushing in and told them to get up.

With the people panicking outside, she and her other twin moved quickly as they saw their mama place a lifebuoy around her sleeping twin.

"What's happening mama?" asked her older sister with a fearful tone.

She can see the distress on her mother's face as she took two rings and placed it around them.

"There's not much time to explain. We need to get up the ship."

She took her still sleeping sister as they walked out the room.

Another explosion nearby was heard as they ducked out.

"BARBARA!" she heard her father shout as he appeared from the opposite side of the hall.

The last thing she remembered was looking at her older sister who's gripping on their mother's gown as she felt an impact of water drag her wherever it can drag her.

She gripped harder on her mother's hand but the impact is stronger, causing their hands to slip. She tried to grip into something but her visions went black.

"I think the she's a bit shaken, darling. Let's leave her for a while." Paul said as he placed his hand on Sophie's shoulder. He looked at the girl and smiled, "We'll come back at lunch. Go get some rest."

"Can you help me find my family?" the little girl spoke slowly as her hands found her throat, feeling it sore as she spoke.

Both Sophie and Paul looked at each other.

"We're working on it dear. But we need your name. We heard there's a ship sank nearby. We ask around to those who survived." Paul said as they waited for the kid.

"Cathe-.." the little girl choked as felt the sore.

Sophie quickly grabbed a glass of water and gave it to her, "Drink this, dear. And don't speak for a while. The doctor said it will hurt but it'll heal with time."

She looked around and saw a piece of paper and a pen, "Here.. write your name here."

The girl drank the water and smiled at the lady. She took the piece of paper and wrote her full name.

Catherine Michelle Walton.

"Well- uh- Clarisse. Where are you from? I mean- we saw you floating around the lake on a wood." asked George as he look at the shaking girl in front of him as she sipped the hot choco while wrapped around a warm blanket. She's maybe five years old, or maybe four, and she looked so incredibly confused.

The girl looked at him and blinked. She shrugged and said, "I- I don't know,"

George shift uncomfortably as she looked at the girl with worry, "What things can you remember?"

The girl shrugged again as she look around, "Are you my father? Is Clarisse my name?"

Someone knocked on the door as George called whoever it is in.

"My lord.. Doctor Wells is here. Do you want him in?" asked the maid as George just nodded, observing the girl in front of him.

He looked at the blue pendant on his hands as he see if he read the name correctly.

Clarisse Marie

Phillippe wandered as he looked around the bodies laying on the floor. He got a call this morning that the ship his family got in sank due to some explosions in the galley. He hurriedly went to the port as he looked first to those who managed to survive. There are over 500 people inside the ship and as how he heard, there are about two hundred people were confirmed dead, and he hoped his parents and sisters were not one of those two hundred people.

He sank on the floor when he saw his parents' bodies. Pale and dead. It took him hard to swallow and not let tears fall as he looked around for any signs of his sisters. He know that once he found one, he can find the others.

He kneeled down to his parents body and let a sob.

He took his mother's hand and felt something. He looked at it and saw a cream pendant, Catherine pendant.

He looked around again, hoping that he'll find his sisters somewhere around the hopeless grounds as he saw the crane lift a part of the ship and place it somewhere far the people.

"Excuse me.." he looked up as he saw a woman with a clipboard, " I am very sorry for your lost, sir. But we need to have their names please."

Phillippe looked at his parents back to the woman beside him.

"And you are?" he asked.

"I'm Annalise Hanson. The Secretary of…."

Philippe barely listen to her as he saw a dead child on the background, with a crying mother, or sister, beside as they rock the dead body back and forth.

Negative thoughts filled his mind as he sensed the secretary waiting for him to speak.

"Edward Walton.. Barbara Walton." he said as he lazily pointed to his parents', "And there are identical triplets, my sisters, Clarisse Walton, Catherine Walton and Nanette Walton.. they're five years old, blonde and about three feet- nine inches tall. They're still missing I guess."

He looked at Catherine's pendant and sighed.

"Have you checked the last part taken by the crane? Almost all of the passengers were already found and so far.." she looked at the list and back to him, "Your sisters were still not found yet."

Yet… the word clung to his mind as he just nodded as the woman left to see for the other people.

He looked around and take deep breaths. Yet… he thought, That means there's a chance that they're alive.

He looked to his deceased parents and sighed, I'll find them mama.. papa. I'll never let you down on this.
