Chapter 5: I Know You Too Well

XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO

It had been about four weeks since Harry got out of the St. Mungo's.

Ginny and everybody else was thrilled to see him up and about, all healed and grinning widely. But her heart was racing to hear the backstory of how it happened, waiting for the arrival of the next Hogsmeade date.

In the process of waiting, she and Hermione were drowned by N.E.W.T.s. The whole day, from dusk till dawn, was tests, tests, and more tests. It was indeed very stressful, but they managed to get through it, until the very last day, when there were only two tests left to go.

Ginny was absolutely exhausted. From having tests all day, to studying in between and being the Captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch Team and scheduling practices, she was really close to just yelling, "I'm out! I'm going to go take a nap, I'm too tired for this!" Of course, she couldn't do that. But she really, really wanted to.

Besides being completely bombarded with studying and tests, Ginny was doing an excellent job at handling the Gryffindor Quidditch team. They were currently beating all the houses at it, only losing two games. Only four games away from the final match, Ginny tried to be a good captain and encouraged her team to practice when they had time with one another.

But currently, on this last day of N.E.W.T.s, it was lunchtime, and Ginny was absolutely famished. She and Hermione had already finished their Arithmancy and Herbology tests for the morning, leaving only Defense against the Dark Arts last, and after it was the rest of the day off. At least the day Harry arrived was tomorrow, and she was barely keeping her excitement in.

Since they were both in the D.A., they knew all about the Defense against the Dark Arts, but had to study a bit harder, for the spells and nonverbal spells were a bit advanced and had not learned some of them in the D.A.

Ginny sat down at the Gryffindor table and immediately filled her plate. She covered it with a ham, cheese, and lettuce sandwich, along with some peeled oranges and a treacle tart to treat herself. She filled her goblet with pumpkin juice and took a large gulp. Ginny lowered the cup and saw Hermione sitting across from her, her plate also filled, but she was rubbing her head.

"You okay, 'Mione?" asked Ginny, peering at Hermione with curiosity.

Hermione's head snapped up and she jumped, knocking her plate to the side. She adjusted it and smoothed her bushy locks back.

"Yes, yes, I'm fine," she replied, starting to dig into her lunch. "Just a bit stressed at how I did on Arithmancy."

"Hermione, relax, I'm sure you did fine," said Ginny, then took a large bite of her sandwich.

"No, I'm sure I did terrible!" she exclaimed, causing a few heads from different tables to turn and look at her. Ginny's eyes widened, but she didn't flinch. Harry had told her all about how Hermione acted after tests if she felt she got one wrong. Hermione didn't notice her growing audience and continued on. "Maybe, just maybe I got enough translations mixed up to get a Fail! Or worse, I probably-"

"Miss Granger, is everything okay over there?" called Professor McGonagall from the staff table. More heads were starting to face the direction of Hermione.

"Yes, everything is fine, Professor," replied Hermione, turning a bit pink in the face. Her face was then curtained by some locks of her brown hair while she began to eat again.

Meanwhile, Ginny had already come up with a speech in her head and was done half her food. Her older brothers had told her the best ideas come when eating good food, and they were right. Sometimes you have to trust older brothers.

"Hermione," said Ginny sternly, and when Hermione looked up, Ginny could see the stress in her eyes. "You did fine. You're a literal genius, and even if you did get a few wrong, it wouldn't be enough to lower to a fail. With a brain like yours, I don't think you'd fail. Now," Ginny drained the lasts of her pumpkin juice and stood up. "I'm going to go practice some nonverbal spells with Demelza. Eat something, and breathe." And with her speech finished, she walked away.

Hermione's close-to breakdown was definitely the highlight of the say for Ginny. Besides it, nothing new happened except for a new type of test.

After a solid two hours of showing spells, nonverbal spells, and defense jinxes, they were done. Finally, finally done with their Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Tests. When Ginny walked out of the classroom, she screamed in delight (which caused a few head turns) and headed towards the common room.

"Sunrays," she said happily to the Fat Lady, who replied, "Hopefully there are soon to come in this rainy spring." She climbed in and scanned the common room. Nobody was there, which meant some nice peace and quiet to herself. Everybody was either in classes or in O.W.L.s or N.E.W.T.s. Ginny then plopped herself happily on the couch, her eyes closed, about to cozy down and read a good book in the firelight-

Unfortunately, somebody was already there.

Ginny immediately sat up, and started to ramble an apology.

"I'm really sorry," she started, brushing her long red hair out of her face. She faced the fire for a better look at the tangles, not catching a glimpse at the person. "I was just exhausted from all the N.E.W.T.s I just had to go through, and before I just finished my last one-"

"No, come back over here, I kinda like you sitting on my lap," said a voice Ginny knew too well.

"Harry!"

Ginny tackled him in delight, then planted a kiss firmly on his lips. She pulled apart, her eyes dancing. He grinned the famous Potter grin back.

"When did you get here?" she exclaimed, plopping back down on the couch, now knowing who's lap she sat on. She snuggled into Harry and sighed happily, now having two reasons to be screaming in delight.

"Just a few hours ago, around lunch time," he recalled. "I went down to the kitchens to have lunch, and the house elves, all the house elves bowed down to me and it was so overwhelming. They said, 'Oh! It is Meester Harry Potter! What want you, sir?'" Harry did his best to act like a house elf, "like they were worshiping me. So I asked for some butterbeer and chicken salad, took it, thanked them, and got the hell out of there before they started to follow me."

Ginny was laughing by his side, trying to stifle it by putting her hand over her mouth. When her laughter subsided to giggles, she asked, "Wouldn't it be nice to have house elves worshiping you? I mean, they're house elves."

"Not according to Hermione," he replied, wrapping his arm around her waist in one smooth motion.

"Oh come on, she probably let go of that spew thing a few years ago," said Ginny. And, as if right on cue, in came Hermione.

"Of course, I knew what the difference between the indications of fumos and everte statum were, that was easy, but on the- Ginny! Harry!"

Hermione's eyes were wide as she spotted the couple together, for she had not expected Harry until tomorrow.

"When did you get here?" she asked, sitting down in an armchair next to the couch and stretching a bit. Ginny could tell that the stress was gone from her thoughts, as her best friend, who was before hurt and had not seen for about a month, was in the Gryffindor common room unexpectedly.

"I was telling Ginny this, I got here a few hours ago," he repeated again. "And guess what, 'Mione…"

But from that point in the re-told story Ginny was not listening. She had spotted something, something hiding behind the table near the dormitories. Or perhaps, a certain redheaded someone who had the title of her youngest older brother. He was definitely easy to spot with the Weasley red hair, but so far nobody else had noticed that Ron was crouching down, behind some chairs, holding some roses.

When Ginny saw the roses, she immediately knew that Ron was here to specially surprise Hermione. Ron and Hermione had not seen each other since Harry's incident, and Ron had to leave right away for an Auror assignment and Hermione had to go back to Hogwarts. It was heartwarming to Ginny that Ron would take time out of his Auror schedule to see her again.

She wiggled out from underneath Harry's comforting arm and murmured, "Gotta go get something in the dormitories." He nodded back and continued his conversation with Hermione, giving her a soft kiss on the head, as though he would never see her again.

Fortunately, Ginny was a quick plan maker. In the last thirty seconds she already knew what to do for Ron to take his moment.

She walked over to the stairs and turned to her right on the desk, pretending to notice some plants that had been placed there. Ginny crouched down a bit lower until she could speak to Ron so that he could hear her without being obvious.

"Harry and I are going to the Room of Requirement," she whispered out of the side of her mouth, causing Ron to jump slightly, for he had been too focused on Hermione. "We'll leave you two alone to have your nice reunion."

Ron smiled at his sister. "Thanks," he whispered back. "Missed you, good to see you again, sis."

Harry and Ginny were in the Room of Requirement, a quick fast forward. The room had conjured them a loveseat in front of a fireplace, perfect for a deep conversation.

"Ok, Harry, take as much time as you need," Ginny said, settling down comfortably against Harry's chest. "Wait, scratch that. Take as much time until dinner. You know how the Weasley's are with food."

"Yes, in fact, I do." Harry took a deep breath, kissed Ginny for comfort, and started his tale.

"So Ron, me, and the team were out somewhere along the coast of Belgium. We tracked the Death Eaters somewhere in this dead forest, so we were scavenging around, but still stayed together. All of a sudden, we heard this loud bang, then another, and some footsteps.

"We agreed that it must be the Death Eaters, so we decided to split up, just in case they came over to our campsite or the others. I went with the Aurors who were looking instead of staying put. Gryffindor trait," he added as an afterthought. Ginny smiled at him and Harry continued.

"But it turns out it was a distraction. While half of us were searching for the source, the other half was fighting off five Death Eaters. We got worried, because there were only four of them, so we ran back. Mind you, your brother decided to let his Gryffindor loyalty get the best of him and he decided to stay put and try to protect his team along with himself.

"When we got there, the team was handling it pretty well. A lot of Unforgivable curses were used, and some of us got mildly hurt from them, but they were okay in the end."

"But clearly not you," Ginny commented, shifting her position.

"Yup. I know, I'm coming to that.

"Anyways, it was a long time before one of the Death Eaters gave up, then went another one. After the departure of two, they were outnumbered big time. So we kept on dueling, until something bad happened.

"My teammate, Liam, was going head-to-head with one Death Eater on his own. No one knows why he didn't cry for help, but luckily I spotted him on his own before he got seriously injured. Even though he was an Auror for two years, the Death Eater started to overpower him, little by little.

"A large beam of purple light came from the Death Eater's wand. I knew that it wasn't going to be good, so I petrificus totalus-ed the Death Eater me and Ron were dueling and… and…

"And what, Harry?" asked Ginny, soothing him by running her hands through his hair gently.

"And I pushed Liam out of the way and it hit me."

"Prat," said Ginny softly, slapping his thigh. "Always so noble, yet always so stupid."

"I know, it's not like you haven't told me that before," he replied, his tone soft and gentle. He tapped her nose and continued the story.

"Except it hit me the one spot they totally needed."

"What? Where did they hit you?"

"Where the killing curse hit me."

"It's not that bad, is it?" Ginny looked into his green eyes with worry.

"I have no idea. But I'm pretty sure when they fired the curse, they were definitely aiming for it. So it must be a spell that needs to be planned out. Which means-"

Suddenly, the door banged open, and there stood Hermione and Ron, hand in hand. Hermione was smiling so widely and happily Ginny thought her cheekbones would break.

"C'mon, you lot, let's get something to eat. No snogging when I'm around, Potter," Ron added, shaking his head slightly as he and Hermione turned away to venture to the Great Hall. Hermione tossed an apologetic look over her shoulder and tilted her head to indicate, Come on, Harry and Ginny, Ron is really hungry and if you're not down in the next ten minutes he'll think you two are shagging.

Harry sighed and stood up off the loveseat. Ginny also got up and walked over to the doors, which were wide open. Luckily, nobody was around, not even the random Gryffindors or Slytherins that walked around the castle after classes to explore.

Harry leaned his forehead against Ginny's and sighed.

"I'm sorry, love. I guess I'll have to tell you tomorrow on our Hogsmeade date."

Ginny decided to get him distracted. "And where are we going tomorrow, Mr. Potter?" she asked, a smile forming on her lips.

"It'll be a surprise, that's for sure."

They kissed softly, slowly, pouring in every emotion they felt into that kiss. Just by Harry's soft lips on hers she could tell he was stressed. Ginny didn't know how she knew that, but she didn't mind.

They kissed again, this time deeper, until broken apart by a holler of:

"Oi, Harry! Get your hands off my sister and let's eat!"

A/N: Nothing better than staying up late and writing a new chapter.

I've decided to only update this story on a Friday the weekend, so every week this story will have one or two new chapter added on it.

Was this chapter good? Bad? I have no idea myself, 'cause it's literally like 4AM, and I'm going to go to sleep now.

If you have any feedback for me, please review. It would be nice to see everybody's thoughts about the chapters to know if I can do better or not. Have a magnificent day.

Cheers, believeinmagic322 :D
