Happiny chirped as she ran around the clearing. Beda was slashing at a thick tree with metal claw, Floaty instructing her how to effectively channel the steel type energy into her arm. Stlix thought to scan his newest Pokémon with the pokedex.
Happiny
Playhouse Pokémon
Happiny are a rare Pokémon, almost never found in the wild. They need a safe environment to be born which happens the most commonly in Pokémon Centres. Their own healing abilities are less developed in comparison to their evolved forms and they carry a small egg-shaped rock to imitate a chansey.
This Happiny knows the moves.
Refresh. Pound. Minimize.
Stlix nodded at the entry thoughtfully. It was true, chansey's were almost never hunted in the wild their own freely given healing to important for another Pokémon to lose. Often if a wild Pokémon killed a local chansey it would be killed in turn for revenge. Not that it was easy to kill a chansey, their physical health immense and constantly able to restore it.
A happiny, however was not so lucky, born with a greater potential compared to a born chansey but far weaker initially they were often picked off by stronger Pokémon.
The little Pokémon jumped and laughed as it inspected the flowers, insects and other things in the clearing, Buddy kept an eye on her from where he was partially in the clearing, whilst curled around the surrounding trees. Stlix was leant against his jaw and watching Beda and Floaty with scrutinous eyes. He occasionally offered advice, ways for Beda stand to put ore power in her hits. Eventually she got tired and Stlix asked Happiny to use a move for the first time.
"Happiny can you use Refresh on Beda pleased." The small pink Pokémon giggled before running over to the larvitar with flowing limbs and hugging her. The stony Pokémon seemed surprised before relaxing under the soothing feel of the moves.
After the happiny let go of her fellow and Beda seemed sad for a moment but all weariness seemed to have left her face and her injuries seemed shallower. But before she could continue move training Stlix called out to her.
"Hey Beda Professor Oak said female larvitars have thicker armour compared to males, having to survive massive battles as a tyranitar, so I am going to ask Floaty to grab Pokémon from around the forest around us and have them battle you. What I want you to do is move with the attack." At her tilted head he elaborated. "When a Pokémon attacks you with a move like metal claw, don't try and take the entire force of the attack but allow yourself to be moved with it." At her hesitant nod he smiled reassuringly before nodding to Floaty.
It took some time and a few more refreshes from Happiny before she got it. Beedrill, pidgeotto, raticates and a lone young pinsir. Beda battled one after the other, being hit with tackles and air cutters and a nasty brick break that caused a massive crack in her armour. But she understood, now when hit with a move she allowed herself to be taken with it, uncontrollably for now but hopefully with some direction in the future.
It should be a way to maximise use out of her already impressive armour. It should also be completely unexpected when someone battled her, Tyranitar for all their fames strength and toughness had slow speed and dodged little so a tyranitar that used the momentum of an attack to launch themselves out of an attack's way would be an unexpected ace in the hole.
It was several hours later that they lead down to sleep for the night, with a meal in their stomach and under a small temporary shelter with Beda and Happiny snuggled against him. Until the buzzing started, once the ominous sounds of large groups of bug types sounded through the forest both Buddy and Floaty snapped up, Stlix disregarded the sleepy Pokémon and recalled them before quickly grabbing his pack and standing with his oldest friends.
Before the beedrill swarm came into sight Stlix heard screaming, he could hear two screaming voices. Ash and Misty. He quickly asked Floaty to find their minds and cover the people and their Pokémon with a protect.
The metagross gave a quiet hum before teleporting, after he left Stlix asked Buddy to take out the swarm, mostly non-lethal as too many beedrill could be an ecological disaster for the region. The swarm sounded far too large to be natural.
As the first beedrill pushed into the clearing Stlix could see what was wrong. The bug type, whilst furious seemed slightly slow and listless. It was like the bug had been hit by several sleep powders, stun spores and confusions. These were all-natural moves learnt by a butterfree, but only trained butterfree would be this calculated. What idiot would try and attack a beedrill hive with butterfree?
Buddy was slowly taking down the swarm, with takedowns and rock throws, rockslides and fire fangs, the swarm was whittled away. Unconscious or dead Stlix left the beedrill there and walked to where he could feel Floaty. Buddy pushing down trees and crushing the ground beneath himself to stay beside Stlix.
In a small hollow created by a peculiarly growing tree was a shining protect shield, a kncked out butterfree and pinsir, a floating person who was silently screaming and a massive metagross. The strange scene made a smile appear unbidden before Stlix checked Ash and Misty before calling the rangers to specify someone able to heal poison moves should be sent.
It seemed that the first ranger he had seen in Kanto had talked about him because when the two people arrived upon the back of a flying Pokémon the ranger gave a strange salute. Sighing slightly, he asked Floaty to unsilenced the bound man.
"and everyone who enters will die before the might of my beedrill swarm. Do you hear me, THIS IS MY FOREST!? Just wait until the beedrill find us. The you'll see you will all see." Everyone stared at the deranged man. The first aider had checked over both Ash and Misty and declared them un poisoned and mostly healthy. The ranger looked at him speculatively, before asking the metagross to shut him up and knock him out.
Humming with amusement Floaty listened before pushing the hovering man over to the ranger. The ranger grabbed him out of the air and cuffed the man, pulled two pokeballs from his waist and recalled the two downed Pokémon. He then bid the people a safe journey before flying off with his new load.
Stlix offered to accompany the two trainers too Pewter, certain that Ash had been cursed by a legendary at some point. Two hordes of Pokémon attacking him within the first two weeks of being a trainer, some people could go months without seeing one.
Neither Misty nor Ash wanted to stay in Viridian forest after that, Misty had a massive fear of bugs and Ash had caught a large pinsir. So after only being in the bug packed forest for two days Stlix walked out and out towards the ancient city. Pewter.
Going into Pewter all three went to the Pokémon centre and booked in bright and early tomorrow morning for a Gym battle. Well Ash and Stlix did, Misty wished to get stronger, not go around 'collecting shiny bits of metal.' That prompted an argument between the angry boy and flame haired girl that caused Stix to laugh and move off.
The Nurse Joy seemed happy to see him and gushed over the cute happiny when he collected his Pokémon. He thanked the nurse before finding an area to train before tomorrow's battle.
The next day.
"Brock. Master of Rock types. Well then." Stlix said. "Lets see who works better with beings of the Earth."
